You can't help but want it to be over but you know there's a likely chance that jar of Noxema zit meds might not work in time for your most important night in high school. The dread of that realization is how sometimes I feel about dealing with computer geeks/technicians. Let's just say they're not known for their social skills. Most of us knows "techies" are good with technical stuff but it's the non-technical stuff we use in addition to grade you. There are a dime a dozen of good techs around but it's your attitude (rather social skills) that counts too and which also help with customer retention. That about sums it up for my experience with numerous computer repair outfits I contacted for a quick look at my laptop. My laptop hinges was not closing properly and the first thought I had was to let a technician fix it. How wrong was I when I called a dozen computer shops around Honolulu! The first thing they'll tell you is "You gotta leave your computer with us for a few days for us to look at it". Seriously? All I need to do is coming in for a quick look and get a rough estimate to see if my laptop is financially worth fixing. If you're a business with a brick-and-mortar storefront, it's an open invitation for customers to walk in right? It's business basics, not rocket science. Prior to looking into this repair route, I already mentally prepared myself to the fact it might be cheaper to replace my laptop unit. I'm not computer hardware ignorant nor uneducated. My prior experience included disassembling the entire CPU and putting it all back together properly. I learned this "tearing down the entire computer" in my 2nd college year. Common on - looking to see if the hinge is worth fixing takes only 15 minutes if not less. I'm not asking them to fix it when I phoning them. I'm just asking them to take a look at it to see if it's worth fixing. It's been a long time since I disassembled PC parts and I'm not about to embark on that tedious task again...LOL. It's the holidays. As I scrolled through the directories of IT specialists for hardware repair, I went down the list and ended up actually calling them. All was frustrating until I reached Digital Vault Consulting. As soon as a man answered the phone, I heard the friendliness in his voice and tone, unlike all those yahoos I called that morning. Pono, the owner, was like "I can take a look at it for you if you would like to bring it in today". Wow that's what customer service is and here was someone with a desire invite potential customers to use his service. Once I entered the warehouse-office, I felt comfortable and the place was not blasting with the AC but rather a down to earth ambiance. Seeing the other small business merchants closely located right next to each made the place have such a "homey" vibe. Pono examined my laptop and pointed out that the closing mechanism at the hinge is beyond saving. He suggested I should take a more economical approach - get a brand new laptop and even recommended I should look for a better designed laptop hinge. All in all, Pono save my day and was so sincere in helping me out. It's good to know I'm not wasting his time and vice versa. Mission accomplished and many mahalos to Pono. DVC will be my first point of contact in the future for my PC hardware needs or problems.

It was ideal that he provides on-site services. Stuart quoted me a total cost for hourly labor and travel time. We setup an appointment for the following afternoon. However, just so happened I ran into an acquaintance while I was out shopping who offered to help me with my computer predicament. I texted Stuart to cancel our appointment and explained why. This is a condensed version of my experience with E&A 808 Repair…read more My Dell laptop that cost me over $2,000. only needed a CPU fan, so I called this business and October 24 2025, Eric picked my computer up from the house and I gave him the nonrefundable $100. in cash as per his terms. I asked him to be careful with my PC as it was in perfect condition as he put it in the back of his vehicle on top and among other PCs and things to my disbelief. When he brought it back November 5, 2025, I gave him $109. in cash and asked for a receipt. I discovered the next day that the new fan made a lot of noise so I called him and November 17 he picked the computer up from the house. Again I asked him to be careful with it but it went back into his vehicle on top of PCs and things. November 24th he returned it, handed it to me and drove off. I went inside turned it on and not only did the fan still make the same noise, I got one critical message after another and could not get the laptop to load up. I called Eric immediately and said I just want you to know that I just turned my computer on and I am getting one critical message after another and it will not load up/turn on and I don't want to talk right now as I am very upset/angry about losing my computer and I hung up. Eric called back and I picked up and said the same thing and hung up. He called again and I did not pick up and he left a threatening message and repeated it 3 times. He said that I was rude and not a nice person and I was not to contact his company ever again or he would call the police and press charges for harassment and would never do work for me again. How convenient to ruin my expensive laptop both physically and mechanically and get $209. in cash and then renege on his 6 months warranty and threaten me! For the record I always treated Eric with respect and never used vulgar/foul language even when he ruined my PC. He always seemed to be on edge and ready to argue as I bit my tongue numerous times to avoid arguing on what he said or how he said something, he was consistently late on pick up/drop off, he does not take care of or respect customer's PCs from what I saw and experienced as he piled them in the back of his vehicle without any padding/protection. He scratched and scuffed up the outer case of my Dell laptop that was in perfect condition in which I was not able to get them out. He had my computer tied up for a month when he told me the replacement fan would only take a few days. I have tried to keep this short but there is so much more. Please read ALL the reviews on Yelp and the BBB before deciding on a business to repair your electronics and I would recommend a company that is BBB accredited.
