I have used DC Computer Geeks services on an average of once every 18 months for the past 7 years and the services were always high quality service, arrival on time and fair in billing for services performed. I have tried once to use on-line tech services from tech services located who knows where with less than satisfactory results plus a nagging suspicion that someone may have used my connection authorization to either monitor my PC or to send me malware in hopes that I wold pay them for services to fix the problem. Who knows how to evaluate legitamacy of remote computer tech services? Not me. Chris G. called to get an earlier service start time, his en rout status, and he hit the ground running to fix my problems on arrival for the required tech support on 11/02/18. Unfortunately my 7 plus year old PC was infested with the mother of all malware that he was only able to fix partially since I could not afford the 3 hour re-install of the OS operating system to fix all. Instead, Chris showed me work around processes for non-functioning capabilities I immediately need to bill and provide my consulting customers services.those that would have required a 3 hour re-installation of the OS system which I could not afford at this time (e.g not being able to save email attachments or make attachments to my emails from my computer). I'll follow his recommendation to use scarce fund towards buying a new computer that I'll call Computer Geeks to have installed. ( Chris also installed free malware protection S/W to hold me over until my new computer was up and running). I have a 3+ year old Samsung laptop with a lot of expensive creative software that was installed by a former employer. Since I do not own the software licenses I wanted to extend the life of the laptop as long as possible. The laptop battery was dying and I wanted to install more memory. I ordered the battery online figuring that it would be easy to replace, but after watching a few YouTube videos, it became apparent that this was not an easy task. I called the Computer Geeks and was scheduled for a home visit with Karl. Karl arrived on time and was very professional. He was very careful and respectful of my equipment. I could see that he was struggling with my computer. It took him longer than either of us had anticipated to access the battery. Once he successfully replaced the battery he asked me if there were other issues that I wanted him to address. I told him about the memory; he navigated to and bookmarked a site that checks for and guarantees compatibility. He also showed me exactly what I needed to do to change the memory cards out. I ordered and successfully installed the new memory cards. I am so happy with the results - my computer is working so well and I have double the memory! The best part of this story is that Karl, in his billing, acknowledged the learning curve of accessing my computer and did not charge me for the time he was figuring it out. In the end, he charged me for 1.25 hours. When I reviewed the bill I commented that he was billing me for less time than he worked; he acknowledged the extra effort, but indicated that the billing was fair. I had a great experience with and was very impressed by the Computer Geeks. I recommend them highly. read more

WOW - DEM was GREAT!! It seems everything goes wrong starting at 5PM. My email stopped sending/receiving - and my computer continued to slow down after a recent update. I showed up thinking I would need to leave my computer for a day + but Dem methodically stepped through several virus / malware detectors (in addition to my own), ran updates I neglected to perform - he did show me where I took a major hit/capture of malware. He checked and diagnosed email problem explaining to me (in basic terms for me) what/why he was doing . set-up some emails for me to send and test when I go home on my own internet and sent me on my way in just under an hour. Everything is now working perfectly!!! I am very grateful for the calm easy manner in which this major problem (for me) was quickly resolved. The advertise online as a local company to all areas , which basically means they are scamming good citizens into thinking they're dealing with a local company when calling them , but no, they actually outsource less expensive techs from a consumers local area , then give the local tech a cut of the huge fee they charge unknowing customers. Beware , these so called geeks are programming experts, hackers , who surely must posses great skills in copying and stealing information to be able to create a website that is able to adapt to every website visitors personal IP address , leading unknowing consumers to believe they're dealing locally when they are not . This time, I needed to have a free, anti-malware program removed from my PC and have it replaced with new security software. Bill S. came to my house and immediately got to work. We discussed the fact that, at times, I work for the Federal government and wanted to make sure my computer received above-adequate protection. Since I had used AVG Anti-Virus Free in the past and had been happy with it, we decided to install its security suite. I have an old Toshiba laptop that is nearing its end of life. I just purchased a new Toshiba laptop and was having difficulty transferring all the data from the old to the new laptop (both with Windows 7, but the old one with Office 2010 and the new one with Office 2013). My outlook was not working properly, I needed to upgrade to the new Windows, and my computer was super slow. I was tempted to do what the rest of the horde has done and get a Mac, but I didnt want to deal with the stigma of being a mac user, or go into the Apple store and deal with those "holier then thou" mac "geniuses", so I called Computer Geeks. My wife and I both have Dells of an age, and both have had a series of minor problems. When her printer was giving her problems, she called Canon tech support (in India) and the Canon rep tried to sell her expensive software to clean up and make corrections for both of our computers which he assured her had to be corrupted by this connection. I have used computer geeks several times. They initiallly cleaned up a problem left behind from geek squad where geeksquad kept saying my pc was fine when it was not. I did not use them again due to a lack of need for a couple years. I have had them clean out a couple viruses.Recently I had them setup a new Windows 8 machine for me and they were able to make it so I could actually use it. Jon Riley was my technician and he did a great job! He was very nice and professional and helped get my internet back up and running, along with some archiving of emails as a separate issue. You have to pay for a full hour ($125) but just remember it takes them time to drive there and back and the time to actually work on your issue.
