Compton has great food. And from what I can tell receives a lot of business! I came in after the gym to try this place out. There is a lot on the menu so a lot to pick from ranging from healthier to also "fuck your diet" lol. One thing I wanted to note is we got a table and it was dirty so my friend asked for something to wipe it down and the employee didn't offer to clean it up- not the customers job to clean up after other people! RIP to one of the greats! This used to be one of our favorite places in Astoria. Recently they've expanded and opened a ton of new locations and the product has clearly suffered- quantity of the ingredients has gone down as well as the quality of what's in the sandwiches. The sticky tender sandwich was one of my go to orders and now they barely put any chicken on it. The chopped cheese has chopped all the meat out and you're left with mostly bread. Another one of our favorites was the grilled chicken burrata club- they're using lower quality chicken now that has this stringy consistency and they burrata is no where to be found. I never had a problem with Comptons being a little pricey before because the product was amazing. Driving here is ok, theres street parking and the location seems not to be too busy, I found parking in a couple of minutes, however it is a residential area so there is alternate side parking, so look out. At this time there is no inside sitting due to the current state of pandemic, but they have some outside sitting and they are ok, there is a lot of sun on u there but not terrible. You walk in and this is definitely a hipster style deli/ burger/breakfast place, they take cards and they have a lot of very artesian drinks. We walked in and made our order, we made our way out to the table and they brought our meals out to our table. BURRATA BURGER- I got this burger medium well, cause I dont like my burger to bleed. I think it was a BIG mistake ordering this. The brioche bun was pretty amazing, the burger was ok, the burrata, as expected was dripping all over the place and the TRUFFLE mayo was not at all tasting like truffle, so I assume they must put a dust of truffle so they can call it a truffle mayo. it does not taste like anything. it is a very flavourless sandwich. We found Compton's while driving by and reading reviews. We were excited to try it from the photos. I was craving good bread and wasn't disappointed. It took a while to decide but we went with the crispy fish BLT ($16) and little Italy ($12). Food took about 15 minutes. The little Italy had a nice cheese pull and gooey egg. I found the hot honey over powered the rest of the ingredients which was a shame since I love breakfast foods. The crispy BLT was indeed crispy and nice but I felt it lacked moisture. The location near Ditmars had a really rude and aggressive guy working the front counter back in May 2024. He was screaming at the staff in the kitchen and cursing loudly behind the register. **Delivery Review** Testing the edges of Uber Eats by ordering delivery from here on a Friday evening. Was hit with an hour delivery window, so ordered in advance to time it just right for dinner. Between two people, ordered the Vodka Eggplant Parm ($14.50), "Oh Emm Geee" ($16), Corn Fritters ($8), and Fries ($5). Thankfully, the food was still warm by the time it arrived, since it was efficiently packed together. The "Oh Emm Geee" is a hot sub packed with chicken tenders, fried, bacon, and nacho cheese. Sounds like a heart attack and it definitely is; good flavor in the tenders and bacon. I would have preferred mozzarella over the nacho cheese to make it less sweet. Corn fritters are large handful of well fried corn bites served alongside a tangy aioli. Easy to eat and not overly breaded; does get greasy after a few, so best to share. Fries are fantastic, crinkle cut and just the right amount of salt. Items are best eaten straight away as the food can get greasy if sitting around. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant. I came in today with my two year old toddler. The "gentleman" behind the register had a very nasty attitude. He never greeted me, instead stood there rolling his eyes as he called out the numbers for the order before me. Two men came up to get their food they thanked him he never said "you're welcome" or smiled back. When I was ready to give my order my toddler ran over to the door, I was watching him. The waiter proceeded to say, "Someone needs to watch him." as I was giving my order he says, "I guess not." (Rolls his eyes again). My son gently touched the window of the door and he said, "I need to wipe that." After that last comment I placed the menu on the counter and walked out. Why would I want to spend my money in a place where the staff isn't professional, to say the least. If you're looking for a family orientated establishment I do not recommend dining here. I've lived in Astoria for over 30yrs and have never experienced such hostility in any establishment. The waiter seemed more concerned with a clean door than hospitality and having a welcoming attitude with paying customer. My only regret was not getting his name. I was there Friday, Aug. 25th at 1:30pm. Here's a directive: go to Compton's and pick up a sandwich on your way to one of Astoria's gorgeous parks. Arrive at park, eat. Revel in the jealous stares of passersby and squirrels alike. I did this today and am very glad I did. This being my first visit, I had to try the classic BEC (called the New Yorker here), which, of course, comprises over-easy eggs, bacon, cheese, and sriracha aioli on a toasted roll. You can also get avocado and/or hash browns; I got the avocado. Overall, it was pretty great sandwich. All of the flavors meshed together nicely, but each ingredient had a chance for a little solo, as well. In one bite, it was the gooey egg; in another, it was the fresh avocado. I appreciated the lightly spicy aioli. And then there's the true star of the sandwich: the bacon. I don't know what they do to this bacon, but this may be up there with my top bacon experiences. It tasted... extra cured, extra smoked. Extra good. Slight downsides would be the cheese (likely American, tastes a little too processed), and the amount of filling in the sandwich (a bit on the light side). I stumbled upon this place after spending the morning at Randall's Island. It's a small space with outdoor seating. I went inside and ordered a medium rare burrata burger with tater tots. They brought my order out to me and I immediately dug in. The burger was cooked just to my liking, and the burrata on the burger was *chef's kiss* delicious. I've never had burrata on my burger before, but after this experience, I'm wondering why this isn't more common. The tater tots weren't anything fancy, but were classically good tator tots. Skip the fries, you'll get better ones at BK or Mickey D's, very disappointing. My order was for pick up, they said hello, got my name and handed me my bag, and was quick with it. I appreciated that. I ordered three of their sandwiches and they ALL get five stars from me......periodT! I started with The Rob hero, which is simply a turkey sandwich with avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion and lime aioli. I don't know where they got this turkey from, but something about it just hit different! It was tender and delicious. As simple as a turkey sandwich can be, The Rob shows that it can be elevated and taken to another level. I ordered extra lime aioli, and girl, I'm glad I did. Next up, I ordered the sticky tender hero, which tasted like I was eating buffalo wings. It had the perfect spice, and that bleu cheese dressing that slapped! The chicken tenders were just that....tender, well-breaded, well-seasoned. Damn. The last sandwich I got was the burrata cheesesteak, which excited me, solely for the reason of it being made with burrata. It was truly a Philly cheesesteak....with burrata lol. First experience (which is what the star rating is primarily-based on) here was fantastic. My friend and I came here a few months ago and split The Spencer & Sticky Tender Hero. The Sticky Tender Hero was, yes primarily chicken tenders. But there was this incredibly satisfying crunch to it with more than enough honey dijon buffalo sauce on it that taste lingered, pleasurable. The burrata on The Spencer was melted and all over the place but the steak meat was pretty damn good. What made both better was the bread. The semolina hero was crisp. BUT, second experience not so great. Understandably they seemed busy. But to wait almost 45+ minutes for an in-person order for take out. YEESH. What made the wait worse was the fact before the 45minutes we were told it was "coming right out" about 20 minutes before the 45minutes. I walked in to see how much longer and I had seen our orders just sitting there. The sandwiches ordered were already cold. I had ordered the Burrata BLT which I ended up reheating. I figure if it was actually warmer/fresh it would have tasted much better. The ingredients just seemed to be a mush inside the hero. Unfortunately my friend's sandwich called "The Rob" was "so cold" and thought it'd be "fancy but it's a regular deli sandwich." Also, only half the sandwich had avocado on it. My husband Went in and ordered a one egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with a hash brown. He specifically ordered it that way. When he gets home, there's a sauce on the sandwich that he didn't ask for. My husband is a connoisseur of fancy sandwiches, so of course we had to try Compton's. We enjoyed a warm spring evening's journey up 21st Street from LIC with the Q69 bus and were happy to find that there was plenty of space in the outdoor seating area. I was a little worried because of other reports about a lack of mask compliance, but everyone we saw was wearing a mask and the door to the restaurant was open, so that put my mind at ease.
