Been waiting for something like this to come by Visalia! LA vibes with better parking and great coffee. - Small parking lot off Center Ave. Not an issue at all. - Variety of seating arrangements both inside and outside (with umbrella shade) for meeting up with people or long term studying - Not many outlets found, except the corner seat towards the back -Free fast secured wifi -Good temperature, I didn't even need a sweater/jacket! -Perfect volume of house music which you can tune into or out -And last but not least - GREAT COFFEE. I had the iced sweet latte ($4.50) with NO complaints or customizations. What I like most is that they don't use any artificial flavors! Definitely will be coming back anytime I need a coffee boost or studying. I can't believe I'm saying this but this place beats out most coffee shops in my native hometown! UPDATE: Outlets are hidden in the floor and on the side of the benches! There's plenty to go around! read more

Went in this morning, place was pretty busy, stood there for a few minutes, as employees looked directly at me, but refused to acknowledge my existence. They had enough time to talk and laugh with one another but not even say hello to me. Horrible customer service. read more

Terrible experience. Avoid and go elsewhere. Was excited to try this spot after seeing such positive reviews, but was fooled. Got in line at 1145. There was a large line (not socially distanced) to get inside and place your order. I walked in the door at about 1155 and tried to order two burritos a latte and a cappuccino. I place my order and they start my drinks, then let me know breakfast closes at noon and they can't do the burritos. At this point they already started to make my drinks and now expect me to pay. I had been waiting in the line over ten minutes but no one thought to inform people breakfast was no longer being served. I asked to see the manager as I had no interest in ordering only drinks but they had already made them. After a brief back and forth where they offered no resolution I left with nothing to show for the 30 minutes I wasted ***Covid-19 update*** They are not adhering to state guidelines. In the 15-20 minutes I was there I never saw anyone cleaning tables. I was stressed out waiting in line because there was no marks on the ground and the girl behind me kept getting very close and was not wearing a mask... This could not have been a worse experience. Component is a fantastic alternative to the coffee house standard that most of us are used to. A gem of a spot in Visalia with a wonderful staff and creative selections a bit from the norm. A must try are the various bagel sandwiches that are exquisite and bursting with flavor. A great place to relax for a few an catch up on business or studies. Everyone is always very nice. This is one of the best espresso places in the country for its quality and vibe. The beans are thoughtfully procured and roasted. The baristas truly know their craft and pull the shots right, making for the best experience for you. The staff's attitude is like meeting a new friend with someone who is venturing in for the first time. Their atmosphere is like fresh modern touches on a warehouse vibe with a great playlist in the background. This place is absolutely Amazing from the vibe to the staff to the amazing food and drinks this is a must go to for any coffee lover. I usually get a Hot Mocha with a Bagel Sandwich with a Jalapeño and cheese bagel and it's amazing I like my Mocha on the sweetie side so I ask for extra mocha. And they also have this spread it's an cream sauce and it's so good as well. Anybody it town or passing by make sure to stop by and check this place out you will not regret it one bit. This place does have really cool inside seating as well as a cool outside seating they also offer order online and have a dedicated parking to drop by and pick up your food. Also if you love Chai you gotta try there chai tea it's so amazing. Also if you don't know what to get forsure ask the people at the front for any recommendations and they will not let you down. Friendly staff, good food and coffee. The breakfast burrito is a little busy and although tasty, can be overwhelming. The O.G. avo toast is very good and the addituon of lemon juice gives it a zing, definitely get it. I'm central valley born and raised and moved away to the bay area about 10 years ago. Everytime I come back, third wave coffee was nonexistent. Glad to say, my search is over! I freakin' adore this place. I'm often labeled a coffee snob and I judge a coffee spot heavily on their ability to craft a decent espresso. I was left speechless. This place roasts and it's single origin?! Hands down, best coffee in Visalia. Don't sleep on these guys. Btw, I got their breakfast burrito, and they know how to do a proper brekkie burrito in my opinion. The potatoes were soft and to the tooth (al dente), the thick cut bacon cooked perfectly, and the over medium egg was just perfectly gooey. Props guys. My niece always raves about this place, so I thought I'd try it out. I am not much of a coffee person, so I stuck to their breakfast menu. Two breakfast burritos and a donut came out to a little over twenty dollars. The employees were very friendly, and the wait for our food only took about five minutes. The burritos were fresh, with amazing potatoes, thick and crispy bacon, grilled vegetables and an egg. The donut was delicious too! We split a big peanut butter cup donut between the three of us. First off, I was not expecting this to be a 5 star spot. We were visiting from LA and I lived in Seattle for years so I know a little bit about coffee (and good food for that natter). I feel like such a snob but I really thought how good can it be in Visalia? I guess I need to rethink my assumptions about this type of stuff because both the food and the coffee were amazing!! Randomly stopped in to this tucked away place. Pretty much the guy making the coffee was super friendly and you can tell knew his stuff. The menu is simple and sweet (That's what I like). Pretty much nothing like Main Stream coffee companies which I LOVE. I got the Espresso Tonic which was so different but great! Oh and the orange on the side? I've been secretly stalking their Instagram since their official reopening. I've watched them introduce the donuts and thought..... eh okay..... donuts. Personal fact: I'm not a big fan of donuts. At all. Too sweet and leave me feeling gross afterwards. So as I was ordering my Iced sweet latte, I noticed these exquisite looking delights (aka donuts) and a woman and her boys were behind me. The youngest wanted a donut, the oldest (still very young) said 'NO, WE'RE GOING TO THE GOOD DONUT PLACE AFTER THIS' Cutest thing EVER. Little did he know... this IS the GOOD DONUT PLACE! I got the lemon poppyseed and the flavor exploded in my mouth. I had this immediate taste of lemon meringue pie (personal favorite). It wasn't greasy, it wasn't heavy, it was everything I wanted, or for sake of eating a donut, needed it to be. Aaahhh okay I'm done. I'm going to geek out to someone else about this gem. This coffee shop is super clean, and the staff are always friendly. They don't do flavorings, nor do they have any nonfat options, but their "sweet latté" is actually pretty good! What a great coffee house! The employees were friendly, helpful and patient as I stumbled through the different coffee brews available. A shout out to the/a manger or supervisor that intervened as the counter person struggled to describe the taste of two brews. As the barista tried to deceive the taste, the manager walked up from behind and suggested to the person behind the counter to let me sample both coffees! It's the little things! The coffee was great, the pastries are delicious and fresh. The vibe is more Central Coast than Central Valley! They have a huge outdoor seating area and plenty of room inside as well! The restaurant is tucked in with several other businesses on Main St. Street parking only on Main & off street parking if you access from Center St. This is a perfect place to meet, relax and have a great conversation and cup of brew! read more

Visited family during Christmas time and made a stop here since i enjoy coffee and coffeehouses. My family had not been so i decided to make a stop. The ambiance is so cool, love the decor and how everything is set. They also have an outside patio that is a nice place to sip coffee. I got the sweet latte with oat milk and the chocolate abuelita donut. So good, the oat milk makes it creamy and the syrup that they use is the perfect balance, not too sweet or overpowering from the coffee flavor. I cannot wait to visit family and make another stop. Best coffee in Visalia, and it looks like they are going to open one in Hanford too ( soon I hope). The food looks great, but I have not tried anything from the menu yet. The coffee is roasted in the store and when you buy the beans they put the date roasted so you know it's fresh. You can taste the difference with fresh coffee too. read more

This place is incredibly cool. With California being the foremost leader in independent coffee shops per capita, I'm always interested in what I'll find as far as originality goes. Needless to say, I definitely did not expect to find this gem in a city in the Central Valley. They have great coffee and tasty treats to go along with it. Some of the yummiest donuts I've had, if I do say so myself! They retrofitted an old building with some kind of historic significance and have transformed it into a great atmosphere where you can hang out with friends on the patio, or hide away and work on homework at a table inside. If you're looking for something a little less mainstream and you have the time to check this place out, I highly recommend it. This would definitely be a chart topper on my list of independent coffee shops in California! read more

Burrito was not good tasted like they added cheese wiz from a can. Ordered avocado toast with fried egg when delivered not correct. Potatoes tasted day old and like they just refried them in oil for the day. Ordered iced coffee didn't have any so got an americano iced and was not even cold when delivered. They must have been having an off day, did not have a good experience here. When we picked up our to go order, our toast was totally wrong which they remade. They then brought out another which was still incorrect and was so bad we just ended up throwing the toast out. They made us feel like we inconvenienced them to remake something that wasn't what we ordered. There's other places to get a $12 breakfast sandwich, Component was so disappointing read more

During COVID-19 times: Had a confirmed order for pick up for a certain time and it was not ready by then or 30 min after. When asked about the order the barista snarled saying I'll try. He did not seem understanding. Keep your head up guy! We are here to support you. Don't be a douche. I gave 3-stars because this is a one-off for the establishment. Food was still good, but the guy was really trying to be a prick. He is one of the main guys there too. You know who you are. read more

Established in 2017.

Started as a coffee roaster under the name "Slow Train". We've been roasting coffee since 2012. We specialize in small batch, single origin coffee that is roasted to profile. In 2017, we moved into the mobile espresso game, at the Visalia Farmer's Market. We are now located in Downtown Visalia in a lovely brick and mortar building. Serving tasty coffee treats and breakfast items from 7 am - 4 pm.

They had a special featuring three gin drinks and every one we tried was phenomenal. My favorite was the Flower Power, but the Nekocha was absolutely amazing. We started with the baked feta and Kalamata olive tapenade, which was rich, creamy, and delicious. For entrées, the NY strip was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the red wine reduction. The roasted chicken was incredibly moist and complemented well by the sautéed spinach and shiitake mushrooms. The sunset view made the evening even better. We were so full we had to skip the celebration dessert, which says a lot because we definitely would have ordered one otherwise! If you're looking for a place that feels a little elevated and don't mind spending a bit more for a relaxed dining experience and excellent food, this is definitely worth a visit.

Now…read morethat I am an adult with my own family, we don't often dine out for breakfast, but when we do, Valhalla is my favorite spot. Lots of great places with great food, and friendly staff. But what makes Valhalla really stand out from the rest, is their in Äbelskivers (common spelling). They're basically little pancake balls, which you can get with a variety of jellies and powdered sugar. I like all the jellies and apple butter, with powdered sugar on top of the jellies. They're really outstanding. My two favorite dishes that I tend to switch between each time I visit are their Chicken Fried Steak and eggs, which is always delicious, and the Rande Omelette, named for the founding owner's husband. My family all have their favorites, like The Danish Breakfast, whilst some just simply order the (5) Äbelskivers, by themselves. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant and bathrooms are always clean, and the service is always fast. Valhalla also has a gift shop with lots of great items to peruse whilst you wait for a table (which usually doesn't take long), or after you've enjoyed your meal. They have a couple of different rooms for dining. One where you can have the room all to yourself if you have a large party, and another that used to be the (kids) "Train room". This room had a little Thomas the train and little toys and activities like felt boards and whatnot to keep kiddos entertained. My kiddos are grown, so I don't know if they still have that room set up for families with small kids or not, but it is a separate room off from the main dining area. There are two 1-seater bathrooms, off of the main dining area, and another bathroom closer to the entry/gift shop area. There is a small parking lot, but if that is full, you can usually find parking on the street out front, or there are a couple of free parking lots nearby. If you've never been to Valhalla Restaurant, in Visalia, you should absolutely check it out, for a unique and delicious breakfast experience. Oh, and they close at 2 PM, so breakfast and lunch only.

I ordered the keto plate, bacon, sausage, three eggs, and a small bowl of cottage cheese topped with avocado slices. Simple, straightforward, exactly what it says it is. The eggs were room temperature, which took a little of the comfort out of the dish, but everything else was fine. Not great, not bad, just breakfast. Valhalla is interesting. The name promises Vikings, but what you get is an American diner wrapped inside a gift shop, wrapped inside a labyrinth of rooms. The food was good and was served fairly promptly but no refills on coffee were offered and when we asked for refills there our request was acknowledged but never fulfilled. When we went to the counter to pay our check, our server was unable to make change for a $52.08 bill from $62.08. This could be a good local place based on the food, but the service is such that I cannot recommend it.

There are different seating areas with tables, couches, and large stuffed chairs, and the space is decorated with vintage items. As I sat there, I realized it is called "Mission Coffee" for a reason: everything sold at the café supports the Visalia Rescue Mission. There were signs showing the number of meals and showers they have provided. Along with having a really good coffee shop experience, it felt good knowing that my purchase was supporting a meaningful cause.
