gas water heater

Great service and competitive price. We bought a house in Kent recently. The gas water heater is 18 yrs old. So we decided to have it replaced. I contacted a few companies on Yelp and Angi. There was a gas line in front of the water heater. Every one except Complete Heating asked for extra charges for removing and reconnecting the gas pipe. One of them was $1k more. It took less than 3 hours for Jeff and Ken to complete the project. Good job!

He scheduled a follow-up visit once he had the parts, and because he had been here before, he knew exactly where our main line was located and shut it off quickly and safely. For us, that would have been a huge headache -- the shutoff is far from the house and mixed in with other homes in our small community. He went above and beyond, pointing out that the chalky dust on our fridge was likely from a bad water filter, and when turning the main line back on, he noticed and showed us a separate leak. That will be another (bigger) project outside of Washington Water Heaters, but I was amazed by his knowledge, thoroughness, and professionalism. On top of all that, Ryan was extremely friendly and kind with our three-year-old, which made the experience even better. We were so impressed with his skill, attentiveness, and genuine care. Highly recommended!

Ryan was especially amazing, super professional, responsive, and easy to work with. On top of that, they were able to get everything done in just one day, which was such a relief. Once Ryan arrived, he was extremely helpful and clearly determined to resolve the slow drain in our kitchen. He walked us through a few possible approaches and immediately got to work. After some diligent effort using a drain snake followed by his high‑powered water flushing equipment, the clog was finally cleared. Ryan also took the time to leave us with helpful tips on how to prevent future buildup, especially regarding cooking oils that had hardened inside the pipes. That extra guidance was much appreciated. Beyond his technical skills, Ryan was personable, friendly, and professional. In this day and age, it can feel worrisome inviting someone into your home--but Ryan is someone I'd gladly invite back for a cookout anytime. Overall, the service was fast, efficient, straight to the point, and fairly priced compared to the competition. I highly recommend Ryan and "I Need a Plumber Now!" They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

Contacted them and asked if it is just a service all price and hourly rate. They said yes and the tech will notify me of the rates. His iPad said 110/hr and 199 for service call. Ok, sweet! I'll do 400.00 for 30min of work and 30min of drive time. Well, not true. First, it was 298.60 for service call which included first 30min. (Tech called at 8:36, said 30min drive time and was on site at 9:11pm) then, it was 165/quarter hour for overtime and 110/hr overtime plus 99.00 for camera inspection and charged us for rags, gloves etc. Total bill was 1403.62. Gosh dang man really?!?!?! I had no choice to pay. Being a tradesman working for a large electrical contractor this is ridiculous. Our rates even for emergencies are half that for the time!!!! I understand the numbers side of this. Paying the employee including benefits, gas, insurance and overhead would equate to 475-500.00 tops. Add a 10% mark up for profit total bill should have been 550-600.00. Yes, more than I first thought but way easier for my family to swallow than 1400.00!!! They made over 800.00 off us and their employee by taking advantage of that situation. Integrity is becoming non existent. My customers rely on my honesty and up front prices before I perform the work including if it's an emergency. I want repeat customers. Continuously over charging customers looses them. It's too bad cause I really liked them. Should have rented a snake from Home Depot for 76.00 and done it myself.

Instead of just selling me the more expensive or larger option, he took the time to explain the pros and cons in detail and suggested installing a mixing valve as a better alternative for my needs. There was a small hiccup because Brandon didn't have the mixing valve with him, but he was very transparent about it. He took the time to explain the pros and cons of the valve again, and I ultimately decided not to install it at that time. What really impressed me was the follow-up. Patrick called me afterward to check on the job and specifically asked about the mixing valve. He even offered to honor the original price if I decided I wanted to install it later. I spoke with three different vendors, and while their price was right in the middle, the Water Heater Doctor won my business because they were by far the most helpful and knowledgeable during the consultation. I will be honest in that they did a good job locating the main drain and was very thorough. Because they gained my trust at first, I decided to inquire an estimate for a full plumbing build. This is new drains, new grease trap, install of equipment, and new pipes. It's a big project. I imagined it would be very expensive but they offered financing so it was doable in the long run for me. The company came to inspect the space to finalize an estimate for me. They told me I had to purchase all the equipment and have it on site on the day that they start the job. The first estimate was around $40k. And the idea was I would finance through Greensky and pay half down. Before I decided on anything, I specifically asked if they would include "installation" of all the equipment. They repeatedly said yes. Once we got the estimate, I went ahead and scheduled the work. This included me procurring all the equipment, ordering everything on time, and arriving on site. The one equipment that I was incredibly afraid of ordering was the grease trap. We sent over multiple text messages with a link to the model that the company suggested and each time, the person I was working with confirmed that was the correct model. When the day came, the plumber that they "sent" out did an overview with me before starting work and noticed a lot of huge oversight. He noticed that our space did not have proper venting but was told by the company that there was upon first inspection. He told me that I needed extra equipment to support some of the equipment I had already bought according to the plumbing plans (the original person who came in to look at the space did not ask to see the plans). He also told me that the grease trap I bought was INCORRECT and would not fit. I had spent $10k purchasing equipment for SW plumbing to do NOTHING. And so I called and canceled the whole job because now my $40k went up to $70k and it is just downright cruel. For a small bar at 700 sq ft, they wanted to charge me $70k, and tried to tell me that the install for the equipment is a $20k job. I complained. And their relations team reached out. They told me that they would purchase a new grease trap for me due to the miscommunication and they want to do right by me. Because I don't trust them, I did not accept it at first and told them I have to think about it. Turns out, I was right. I asked them if there were any obligations to this and they said no. I confirmed with them that the estimates were all cancelled, and they said yes. When time came to ask them about it, they then turned around and told me that they would only give me a free grease trap if I went with their services. I don't believe in writing scathing reviews for any business. I know we all gotta eat. But, this experience was so horrifiyng and I am left with a $900 grease trap that doesn't work for my space and SW Plumbing could care less if they made a wrong suggestion to a small business. They don't understand that they've just cost me so much more than just a piece of equipment. I do not recommend. Find your community and ask for local reputable people. These big box companies are out to gauge you and twist their words.

Jim not only came out to our house to give us a comprehensive estimate, he was also the person who did the actual installation. I needed to replace our 18 year old American Standard heat pump but wasn't quite ready to replace our furnace. After thoroughly educating myself on heat pumps, I called 7 different HVAC companies for estimates. I was open to all the top brands. Some of the companies would not replace our heat pump without also replacing our furnace. A couple of companies said that they would flush out our old heat pump lines with nitrogen instead of replacing them. Most companies sent out a salesman to give us an estimate but they were not the ones who would install it. Yesterday Jim from MVH came out to our house and replaced our old heat pump with a new American Standard heat pump. He and his assistant Braden were at our house for over 9 hours doing the work. They meticulously installed our new heat pump, replaced our heat pump line with a new one and replaced the coil on our furnace. Jim removed our broken automatic air filter and designed a slot to fit a standard size disposable air filter. I think they went above and beyond with the installation and their clean up was impeccable. Jim installed a new "smart" thermostat which also qualified for a PSE rebate. Anne, the office manager was so helpful in answering questions I had and in completing the PSE rebate forms and all the paperwork. MVH also had competitive pricing and I saved money with the PSE rebates. Yes, I am very happy that I decided on Mountain Valley Heating and Air to install our new heat pump.
