i called on the 30th of a april they told me between 4-6 called them they asked elton reschedule for tomorrow may 1st around 8am called now between 9 &10 then after 1 they finally show talked to a few people because they weren't here yet. did the job even though my sister and i were trying very hard to throw him out! he was not understanding and he had heavy accent thought he was speaking english very heavy accent! could not understand him and got mad saying he was speaking english no he was not with that accent we couldn't get him to leave. i get they had a 79.00 thing going on but i said i called someone else they said they would for 69 and he said he would do it for 69.00 and after he asked about payment , i gave him the 100 i had and expected 331 he only gave me 21 back he said he'd take 69. then after started fighting with us telling us he loose the money. he'll loosecmoney not listening that he said he would and refused to leave when i said i had someone else coming flat out refused and just started working., snd when he left said ok you dont care about living . i called someone else to check what he did just in case ! never again will we go through kodiack they come almost 2 days late resechule 3 to 4 times show up at the last second refuse to leave to get work . i called someone not to just check his work, but he not just pissed me off but also kind of scared both me and my sister! talking about our health !! learn english instead of telling us you speaking it no your not!!!!!! ​ read more

Furnace not working. Found the control board to be faulty. The visit was approx $200 and the estimate to replace the faulty board was approx $800. I checked out the board prices on the net and our board was $167 to $200. I called the tech and said a cost of Almost $1000 seemed way too high. Various youtube videos showed a novice replacing the board in 10 minutes and I figured someone will charge an hour labor. Giving $300 for the board (that's a 100% markup, which should be enough), I figured $400 would be a fair price. He had many lame excuses as to why he could not lower his cost. We stayed without heat for 5 more days just to not be scammed by this guy. I called PSE, they did the job for us- TOTAL $460. Do your homework folks. read more

The heat has gone out -- it's currenty 19 degrees Fahrenheit -- I have called Kodiak's after hours number 3 times and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes each time, I was disconnected THREE TIMES!!!!! I called them the first time in the heat of summer because my air conditioner broke down, I called Kodiak and the owner called me back. He said they were very busy but the would get to me before they quit for the day. I was very happy. Great service. They installed a water softner and they will be installing a kitchen sink and faucet. I recommend them very highly. read more

This is long overdue. On Monday, the 1st of May, I called to get my furnace looked at because it was not been heating the house since Sunday. I called seven places. When I called Kodiak, they said they could only come on Tuesday. I wanted to get someone out on Monday because it was cold in the house. I finally called them back and took that appointment. Jeremy Lyons was the person who came out. He figured out what was wrong and needed to order a part. Jeremy was so fantastic because he knew I was freezing. He ordered the part and squeezed me into his schedule the following day. For every other place I called, Wednesday was the soonest they could come. The original installers would not even look at it because it was 20 years old. When I replaced it, they lost out. I will use this Kodiak again and not need to call anyone else. read more

They are ok-ish, not terrible, but not very good either. Here is why: * Do not plan well. I have some ideas what I want, but they do not vet it in any way, do not come on site to measure things and see how everything would work out. The compressor I wanted would be too large dimension wise, and the did not even bother to plan ahead, almost installed it, I had to tell them to change the plans. * Complete lack of attention to details. They do not use mastic to seal air gaps or insulate things well. For example, they assemble the whole thing first, and they try to seal with foil tape. Half of the unit is not reachable, so they just seal what you, owner, can see, the rest is not sealed. In my case, only half of the unit is sealed and insulated, they other half they could not reach. They need to plan ahead. * As the owner, you have to finish some work after them. I had to do electrical and seal large gaps they left * while wiring thermostat wire in the crawlspace, they did not secure the wire, it just laying on the floor and did not bother to re-install insulation, they just drop large pieces on the floor as well * The parts they bring are bent and not handled well. I had fins bent on both coil and AC unit, they could not care less. * I had a really bad and rusty gas vent. They did not tell me anything, just connected furnaces to old duct. It pulled old stuff down under the weight and disconnected the vent behind the wall. Very dangerous. I discovered it 2 years later. If you are DIY person, these guys will leave you disappointed. I called Kodiak Heating and they just happened to be in my neighborhood and came by in 10 minutes! They were very courteous and diagnosed my heating issue right away - condenser pump needed replacing. What I liked was they took the extra time to connect my pump to the furnace so if it failed again the furnace would shut off instead of leaking water into my basement for days before I realized it. My furnace stopped working on Good Friday. I called Kodiak Comfort Heating and Air and he was out to my home by Tuesday morning. Dustin was very professional, expediant and honest! Fortunately, my furnace only needed cleaning and not totally replaced. As a new widow, I am always fearful of being taken advantage of. Dustin was more than trustworthy. He completely explained everything he was doing and what I should consider for the future. He was more than fair in his service charge as my unit really needed a thorough cleaning and priming. He made triple sure that the furnace would continue to work before he left. I have already planned to sign on for annual maintenance as well as possibly converting to an electric water heater. I asked them to come and replace a noisy motor. They said they would order it only after they come onsite and charge $179+tax. I asked why, given that it was clear what part was noisy and needed replacement. They said they would not work off of other people's diagnosis. Clearly they are banking on people not being able to find and order the part themselves, and are charging them for an onsite visit. They could, instead, order the part, at customer's risk, then visit and diagnose if there is anything else needing to be replaced. They didn't. Installed Air Conditioner. I got quotes from 3 service providers. Kodiak didn't try to convince me to buy one brand of AC over the others like the other guys. They presented me with options for me to choose. I chose the unit that I wanted and the price was still better than the other 2. Their customer service was phenomenal ...my install wasn't a quick and easy one (not their fault) but they stayed late into the evening to make sure that everything was working. The first I have heard back is through this response to my Yelp review. What would you fix? I have already vacuumed the tracked in dirt. I already bought a new filter and replaced the old one. The two who came out to do a check and service of our furnace were nice enough guys but didn't have an explanation for why out CO output from the roof vent was higher than normal on a three year old furnace. We had had our CO alarm go off a few weeks earlier and were pretty concerned that our new water heater installed by Washington Water Heaters a week or so earlier was what caused the issue as we had never had this happen before (it was not and turns out it was a venting issue which we resolved). When they finished the furnace check and the water heater check they came back and said they didn't know what the cause was and that our furnace was emitting higher than normal carbon monoxide, but still within legal limits. I asked why this might be happening and the response was "we don't know." Shouldn't professionals who deal only in furnaces and HVAC be able to give a better answer than "we don't know?" I will give them credit for getting out a few days after our emergency CO situation (confirmed by fire department) but expected them to know what was causing higher than normal levels during our furnace check. read more
