If you already know what's wrong with your car and you tell them what you want they are not bad mechanics but if you go there and you don't know what you're talking about they will take advantage over you and screw you for every dime. I needed to get my axle fixed and I knew exactly what was wrong with it. I took it there and they told me everything up to my steering column was gone and needed to be replaced. I told them And they looked at it and RESET The check engine light and told me to come back if it turns on again. So i left with my car and brought it back the next hour because the check engine light turned on again and they reset again and told me to come back the next day if its still there. So i brought my car back to them the next day, NOW they told me i need to replace catalytic sensors too and i would have to leave my car there because they had busy schedule.. understandable BUT IN NIGHT TIME WHEN I GOT DONE WITH WORK AND I WAS DRIVING PAST AUTO SELECT IN NEENAH I DIDNT SEE MY CAR THERE IN THE PARKING ALOT OR IN THE GARAGE and i could sleep all night knowing someone is out there driving my car pushing on it or misusing it because its NOT THEIR PROPERTY when i confront them the next day about my car not being there lastnight "they kept refusing said they parked it in the church parking alot because their parking lot was full, but wholetime the parking lot wasnt even fully full there was still 3 to 4 car parking spots were empty in the parking alot.. and i even paid for the sensors and have them put it on my car.. so my girlfriend can finally drive my car but the check engine lights was still on.. so i left and brought my car to the bergstrom and They kept my car there for week and test every single part on my car and they said the check engine light is keep turning on because of the bad catalytic convertor PART that auto select put in. At ray's they gave me two options when many shops would have given me only one . They gave me an option of new or used with a $2,000 dollar difference in price so I went with used and I couldn't be happier the transmission runs flawlessly also van zeelands had told me I needed new rotars I mentioned it to the mechanic at ray's and they said they would replace them if needed for the cost of parts not labor. They informed me that there was nothing wrong with my rotors they just had a small amount of rust nothing to worry about again other shops like van zeelands would have charged me for work that wasn't needed while ray's did not. A huge bonus is a full 12 month warranty on the Repair, that's insane never have I gotten a warranty like that ! They said if I had any concerns about anything to bring it in and they would check it out. Van zeelands also told me I needed like $2,500 in strut and tune up Repair I plan on having ray's check that out for me as well I won't be returning to van zeelands for anything. The mechanics at ray's are the upper echelon of mechanic professionals and have a myriad of certifications and would recommend them to anyone in need of high quality Repair work. They say "well let you know" Take a whole 34 hours to get my "quote" They tell me a dozen other things "wrong" with the car, then give me a "quote" of $3250. Mark up the price of parts by about 3x. I say NO, then they tell me that the inspection will cost $150 AT NO POINT DID THEY COMMUNICATE THEY WERE DOING AN INSPECTION AND IT WOULD COST ME AN ENTIRE DAY OF PAY AVOID THESE SCAMMERS Not to mention they're literally giving gift cards away if you give them good reviews.

My appointment was for 1pm. My car wasn't moved from where I parked it until 1:25. I thought once they had my car in the garage and had a look at it that they would come out to the waiting room to give me my options. Instead, they installed a $254 battery; they thought this was ok for a 20yo car. There was no communication with me regarding anything until 2:45 when Brian came to the waiting room to inform me of $2000 worth of work that my car needed, which included $761 for 2 rear struts. I never asked for a full car inspection. I thought I would not be able to leave, but I was informed the battery was not yet installed. I didn't get out of there until 4 pm. Once I arrived home I took a closer look at my receipt and saw that I was billed $85 for a "charging system test" which I did not ask for, nor was it necessary. I then looked under the hood and saw that even though they had my car for 3 hours, they couldn't take a minute to do a courtesy top-off to the power steering fluid and brake fluid, but instead left them at below the low mark. The AAA battery they installed had a black date sticker of 6/24; a one-year old battery.

The best plan I could come up with was to drive a mile to a dealership near Menard, check their inventory, get recommendations on mechanics in the area, and buy a clean, AWD vehicle. SelectAUTO came up as highly recommended, though they are located in Weston. I requested that they send a wrecker, which they did, and I sailed away in a 2017 Ford Escape. Mike Molitor, the manager, is extra nice, very helpful. It took 10 days to assemble the parts and get them installed. While they were at it, they adjusted and cleaned my brakes. Nicely done!
