I can't speak highly enough of this service and I'm so grateful they exist. Our cat Albert was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer late last year. We were going through the palliative care process but it became clear he was struggling too much and that we had to say goodbye. We contacted Compassion 4 Paws and got an appointment within a day. Dr Black did a wonderful job of explaining the process and we really appreciated his concern for us and Albert. We're so thankful we got a chance to say goodbye peacefully at home. I'll be recommending this service to everyone I know when they need it. read more

Its the hardest decision to make but thank goodness for Compassion 4 Paws. We had to say goodbye to our beloved 22 year old Pomeranian, Uno this morning. From the beginning when I had to call and schedule an appointment, the support staff were unbelievably caring and empathetic. Dr. Hagen arrived for our appointment and was very gentle and very compassionate. She explained the entire procedure with us, never rushed through anything and in the end, Uno passed so peacefully over the rainbow bridge in my arms. Its hard to imagine such a painful experience being so beautiful but it was. Thank you Compassion 4 PAWS and thank you Dr. Hagen for joining us on our final journey with Uno. You were all amazing. read more

I want t thank Dr. Nicole and her team assisting me with a short notice request to put my precious Button "down". She was quick and efficient as I requested. I couldn't help but feel how emotionally draining it must be for Dr. Nicole knowing that every "next" visit, another "mom" or "dad" will be grieving and unable to give her the thanks she deserves. This was my first experience with in-home euthanasia which was MUCH better than taking my cat to the vet and stressing her out in her last moments. Price was very reasonable for an in-home visit and better than my last vet bill!! Thanks again Dr. Nicole. You are a star in my eyes. Darlene G. read more

I wish I could give Dr. Audrey and her team 10 stars! We recently had to make the difficult decision to put our 13 year old Boxer Bizzy to sleep. She was on medication for the last 2 years for heart arrhythmia and the last few months her health was declining. It was hard to see her struggle on a daily basis. We called Compassion 4 Paws twice. The first time we asked several questions about the process and procedure. When it was time we called and made the appointment. Dr. Audrey was amazing. She evaluated Bizzy and validated our decision. She was very patient during each step of the process! It was a very emotional process for us but Dr. Audrey's patience and compassion made us feel comforted. Thank you again Dr. Audrey!! read more

Dr. Sara was extremely gentle and compassionate when chatting with my dad on our 18 year old dog Lu before he passed. My parents weren't quite ready to make the decision to put him to sleep based on his responsiveness and when we realized that the day had come we called her last minute and she came down even though he ended up passing on his own before she arrived. The patience that she had with talking to my dad provided much needed comfort during this time and her quick responsiveness vs. other vets that we had contacted for a similar situation. Quite grateful for her presence during this situation and the gentle way she stroked him while checking for his pulse even though he had long been gone. read more

In January, we had to say our final goodbyes to Bella, our beloved 15 year old Lab. As anyone who has been through it knows, it was one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. While we knew our time was limited, Bella took a bad turn on a Friday afternoon. Our vet said they couldn't come to our house for a week, and we were committed to ensuring that she passed at home. Fearing we may have to try hard simply to keep her comfortable all weekend, we called Passion 4 Paws late Friday afternoon. From the moment they answered the phone and were somehow able to decipher my tear-filled blabbering, the experience was nothing short of excellent. They made an exception to have a vet work late on a Friday to see us. Vet Audrey arrived and was kind, and professional, and understanding. She was so awesome we were even able to laugh with her a few times. She gave us space when needed, information when required, and compassion and sympathy always. I can not recommend this organization more highly for one of the more difficult days in your life. We are eternally grateful to Audrey and Compassion4Paws. read more

It was very difficult saying goodbye to our very beloved dog Bella but Compassion 4 Paws made it as good as an experience as possible. The veterinarian who came out (so sorry this was last year and I've forgotten the vet's name) was wonderful and so kind and caring. She gave us time alone to say goodbye to Bella and was just amazingly gentle, caring and kind. We had a paw print made which I wasn't sure of at the time, but we were very glad to get it when it came. I really appreciate the kindness and recommend Compassion 4 Paws when it's time - very appropriately named service. read more

We were filled with such sorrow to have to let our beloved cat go, but so thankful to be able to ease Kiki's passing, to let her go in comfort, at home, in her favorite spot, with us holding her close. We called a few different offices that were well-reviewed on Yelp and felt most comfortable with Compassion 4 Paws based on their stellar reviews and because of the sweet, sympathetic and supportive person answering my call (and dealing with my tearful questions). We are so glad we made the decision to go with them. Dr. Allison was able to come the same day we called -- she was a warm, sweet woman with a compassionate heart and soft voice. She was so kind and gentle with all of us, and felt like the perfect caretaker for our Kiki. She gave us all the time we needed, and was really respectful of our emotions and our space. She was walking into our home during such an emotionally heavy moment, and handled it with grace, supporting us and tending to Kiki in all the right ways. Even once Kiki was gone, Dr. Allison was still so thoughtful, carefully and delicately taking Kiki's paw print and some of her soft fur for us to keep, and wrapping her in a cozy blanket. She handled things so lovingly that we felt truly comfortable trusting her with Kiki. She also gave us a "grief guide" that was really helpful, mailed us a thoughtful card, and Kiki's ashes were returned to us in a beautiful cherry wood box. Compassion 4 Paws provides an invaluable service, for both pets and humans -- I cannot overstate how grateful we are for the gentle, loving, thoughtful care they gave during our family's time of need. Nothing could have made saying goodbye to Caspian, our beloved 13-year-old Australian shepherd, less heartbreaking, but Dr. Sara's gentle manner and attentive care made one of our worst days as peaceful as it could be. From the first phone call--the hardest I've ever had to make--the team at Compassion 4 Paws walked me through saying goodbye in the most compassionate and kind way possible. Upon arriving at our home, Dr. Sara talked us through the entire process with care and consideration, and at every step along the way she gave us the time we needed. After she'd administered the injection, she even went out to her car and sat, giving us privacy to be with our sweet boy and say goodbye as he left us. This is a fantastic service and I have been telling all of my friends about it. Having a pet euthanized is always a difficult decision, but the staff at Compassion 4 Paws can help you decide when the time is right and make the process as easy as possible. If I had known about their pet hospice services sooner, I would have been thrilled to have that help as well. Dr. Audrey Parks was amazing--so good with my cat Molly, and so compassionate and reassuring in her interactions with me. She helped me understand the disease processes that Molly had been experiencing and gave me very helpful information about recognizing pain in cats. Molly seemed at peace the whole time, and died quietly in our living room. Then Dr. Audrey made a paw print for us and helped prepare Molly's body for burial. If we had wanted to cremate her instead, Dr. Audrey would have arranged that. I highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws for end of life pet care. read more

I echo everyone's comments on the professionalism and compassion displayed by Compassion 4 Paws. Saying goodbye to my sweet dog, Cindy, has been one of the hardest moments of my life. Dr. Allison had a soothing presence that tremendously helped in my state of anguish. Despite struggling with the decision that I needed to say goodbye to my furbaby, I'm so honored that we had Dr. Allison by our side throughout the process. It felt like she loved my Cindy just as much as I did. Dr. Allison was gentle and compassionate...with both me and my dog. Being able to give my dog the gift of peace within our very own home helped take the edge off such a heartbreaking ordeal. Cindy went to sleep like she normally did, (snoring and all) until the final injection. My baby deserved the best, and Dr. Allison ensured she went peacefully to the next realm. Thank you. read more

Our amazing Whee Dog was given such care by Dr. Allison. The Whee had been having seizures and at the age of 15, it wasn't something treatable. We had made the decision with our regular vet (Dr. Bernstein @ Aurora Veterinary Hospital - 5 stars there too) to give her an easy end at a later date. Well our prettiest old lady took a terrible turn over the weekend and Aurora Vet gave us Compassion 4 Paws number (as they were unable to make it - totally understandable). They were able to interpret my sobs and I scheduled for the next afternoon. Well then it became apparent at 1 in the morning that our 4pm appointment was going to be to long a wait for the Whee. We emailed in the middle of the night to ask if they could be there sooner for her. We got a phone call as soon as they opened at 8 that morning and said they could be there at 11:30. It simultaneously felt like 11:30 took forever and came too soon all at the same time. Dr. Allison was there on the dot. Even in her weakened state, Whee sat up to say hello and Dr. Allison was very gentle with her. She explained how everything was going to work and what the Whee would feel (sleepy) and not feel (any kind of pain). She gave us all the time we needed and was incredibly compassionate with the Whee. Afterward the respect given to taking the Whee away was evident. We are so grateful that the Whee fell into a gentle sleep and was no longer in pain. That this could happen at home and on her bed where she felt safe was priceless to us. Thank you so much for your services. It made a terrible and unbearable time, bearable. read more

Dr. Sara is an absolute angel. Her compassion and kindness was crucial in one of the hardest times of my life. My kitty, Kinsey, was diagnosed with Lymphoma at 12, and I was told she only had 2 months to live. I immediately contacted Compassion 4 Paws and Dr. Sara did a "quality of life" assessment and gave me information about how to know if it's time. She gave me her cell phone number before she left, and told me I could contact her at any time with any questions. I definitely took her offer and texted her multiple times throughout the next few weeks - she responded right away, with compassion and understanding. When the time came, I made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Unfortunately, Kinsey started the dying process in my arms at 10 a.m. that morning. I texted Sara and she came right over to my place as soon as she could and helped Kinsey and I through the rest of the process. They really aren't that much more expensive than a regular vet, and let me tell you, the few extra dollars are completely worth the peace of mind knowing that you did the best possible thing for your furry loved one. read more

Ill first say that having someone come to my house for vet care and end of life services was the best decision i made. It really gives you the comfort and space you need to grieve especially if you have a hard time crying in public places, like my self. Despite the circumstances it was a great experience with Compassion4Paws My cat,Norman, of 7 years whom i rescued when he was 4-5 was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma about 6 months ago and we began chemo.. long story short my vet discovered a second cancer, intestinal carcinoma,in November. I opted out of surgery which wouldnt have guaranteed anything but a lot more digestive issues for him. We discontinued chemo as it was not going to help the carcinoma. My vet said things will start changing in about a month or two. I Woke up New years eve to my boys stomach filled with fluid and he was very weak and In obvious discomfort. I knew the time had come and the cancer had progressed. I was unsure what todo so i called my oncologist, she was not in that day, and my local vet was closed. I honestly just googled "at home euthanasia" and compassion popped up and with good reviews so I called them. I was a mess needless to say realizing the wait of this decision and Tasha, the receptionist, was very sweet and understanding as a I could barely talk. I scheduled the doctor to come the following day. After i got off the phone i really struggled with my decision, i have worked in the vet field before so i was well aware of my options for him. I called Compassion 4 paws back and asked if i could talk to the vet, Dr.Edwards, she was very helpful and understanding as i bounced all my ideas and questions off of her. I had her come that day to just look at Norman and give him some medication to keep him comfortable. She was awesome and she brought a great energy; never forceful, present, and very personable, i knew Norman and I were in good hands. Dr. Edwards wanted me to check in with her to make sure Norman was ok as she was concerned about him. She also wanted me to call her the next day , in the AM, to make sure I still wanted to keep my appointment that day, which i kept. Norman was about the same if slightly worse and my family and i had the morning/afternoon to say our goodbyes, give him extra hugs and kisses, and spend time with him. Dr. Edwards came and it was just me and my other cat, who is very attached to Norman, which i was so grateful for. my other cat was able to lay with him through the whole thing. There was no rush, no stress,or a cold vet office. I was given space and was even able to carry my cat out to the car. I got a paw print and had him cremated which they return back to your vet for pick up. Though i was, and still am, pretty tore up about losing him i couldn't have imagined doing it any other way. Thank Compassion4Paws team and especially Dr.Edwards read more

Dr Allison at Compassion4Paws made our impossible decision and deepfelt sorrow into a moment of gentle, caring, respectful and tender transition for Neko Shadow Tiger. Neko had rapidly lost his quality of life to an aggressive cancer. When Dr Allison arrived at our house, she talked with us for a few minutes and then went to get acquainted with Neko, offering him her hand to sniff. He quickly accepted her as a friend, and displayed no fear or pain as he let her help him go to sleep, with us beside him. We had called Compassion4Paws two days earlier, and were sad that so many people needed their services that appointments had to be made in advance. Their care, both on the phone and in person, was exceptional and is worth any wait you might have. read more

I wanted to write this review while this entire experience is fresh in my mind. After our little dog Piper took a turn for the worse, we had to make the really hard decision to let her go. The thing was, she wasn't in pain or really suffering. She'd had a series of seizures and one of them was a big one. It kind of just wiped out her brain. She could walk and eat and get in her bed and chew on a toy but she wasn't herself. (This is on top of her already being blind with one eye, deaf and incontinent.) She was pretty much senile - you could tell she didn't know where she was, who we were, who she was, etc. I called Compassion 4 Paws and told them that I thought it was time but wasn't sure. They offered to send Dr. Allison to do a quality of life assessment and help us make some decisions about what to do. Dr. Allison is kind, gentle and deeply compassionate with animals and their families. She came to our apartment and sat down on the floor with Piper and her sister Lola. Piper was sort of wandering around and Dr. Allison watched her and asked us lots of great questions about who Piper was and what made her Piper. She helped us think about how to know when it was time. She gave us a list of things to look for from her every day and see how many of those "Piper-like" things she did. If she did most of them, it was a good day. If none of them, we should see if we got more than one day in a row like that. And she helped us decide what we would consider our "line in the sand" - the thing that would make us know "now its time." We decided that if she had another seizure - no matter how big or small - that was it. She was on seizure medication so if she had one, that's when we'd know what we suspected was a brain tumor was taking over. She left us Friday night with a solid plan, which was a huge relief. Saturday was great. Then she had a seizure Sunday morning. And so we knew. We called Dr. Allison and made an appointment for her to come Monday evening and help Piper pass away. Monday was the longest day ever and there were lots of hugs and snuggles with Piper. It was hard to believe that these were the last snuggles we'd have. Dr. Allison arrived right on time and walked us through how it would go. As we held Piper, she gave her an injection that would put her into a deep sleep. During the 5 minutes that took, Dr. Allison stepped out of the room to let us just say goodbye and hold Piper and sob a little. No getting away from that part. When she came back in the room, she gave her a second injection and told us once she gave it, Piper would go quickly. Sure enough, as Dr. Allison gave the injection slowly, Piper breathed 4 or 5 breaths and then just stopped. And that was it. Piper was gone. She made a sweet paw print impression in clay for us to keep. She then wrapped Piper in a blanket and we all walked her to her car so we could say goodbye one last time. It was so calm and peaceful and I couldn't imagine a better way for something this hard to go. Dr. Allison was just a lovely person - incredibly kind and understanding and patient. I'd highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws and Dr. Allison to anyone facing these tough decisions with their beloved pet. I am grateful that they were there to help us. Thank you Allison! read more

Dr. Sara is "an angel" as our neighbor put it. She went above and beyond to help us and our beloved cat Frodo. She has both the skills and "the touch" with pets and their people. We first got to know Dr. S while she was doing acupuncture for our kitty. He had feline hyperesthesia, a nerve disorder. The treatments went well and helped. About a year later Frodo was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Sara again to the rescue, guiding us with his in-home care to the very end. Which was during the holidays. Dr. S was so very accommodating with her time. It was huge to have that final visit be at home and not a stressful car ride to the regular vet. Dr. S has helped friends and neighbors on our rec since then. 200% positive experiences. Thank you Dr. Sara! read more

Dr. Allison Edwards was fantastic to work with during a tough time. We could tell that it had come time for our dog, Maggie, when she couldn't get up anymore. Sorry, but I am not sure this is a right word for this particular business. Because of some recommendations this company was one of two in my list to call first. When I sent an urgent request that our 100 pounds paralyzed dog needs to be put down ideally next day as latest (her genetic disease took her too fast, so it was no time to schedule anything in advance), explaining that my husband is a serious heart patient and in a high risk of sudden collapse, so clearly we are not able to wait even extra day, and don't want our poor dog to suffer, I received a very warm, very compassionate answer. I liked it! They responded like VERY CARING people. But don't believe those who tell they care or sorry about you, believe to those who SHOW they do care. Something in the email I did not like. It was related Covid situation. It was saying "Please note that due to the Coronavirus pandemic we are required to perform all services outside of the home. Some examples of spaces that work well include a porch, deck, patio, or open garage and we invite your family to make the space comfortable with a space heater, bedding, blankets, seating or anything else your family needs". I called and double checked. Again, the voice was very compassionate, yet, no other options offered. I do not have a space in garage, or deck/patio, whatever. Only cold concrete driveway. This is not only the point. My dog is 100!!!! pounds, PARALYZED !!!!. We are NOT able to pick her up. She SUFFERED when last time we tried to take her out to pee. She cried! Are those people really in clear mind thinking we will put our poor dog in agony and bring her on cold concrete in SNOW weather before her last moment? This is what they call COMPASSION???!!! Plus, knowing my situation about my poor husband, they said they booked for next couple days. Well. Then don't write in your email how you are for us to make this experience less stressful, etc. This is not Compassion!!! Neither about our poor dog or ill person/owner of the dog. We all same in Covid situation, but why rest of similar companies do not have those ridiculous rules? 3 !!! other companies offered help next morning knowing my situation, and I ended up making an appt with one of them, and our poor dog crossed Rainbow Bridge peacefully next morning. Being in her comfortable bed and space. In comfortable position. Not dragged anywhere. Being in WARM house, not outside with current temperature nearly 30 !!! only degrees. NONE of other companies call themselves "compassion", but they really ARE. You? I don't think so. Suggestion to change your name! PS: after I wrote this review, a heavy snow storm started. They knew about weather condition is going to change. I guess our girl was very lucky to have another COMPASSIONATE vet who came immediately, otherwise she would have suffered for several more days. read more

We used Compassion 4 Paws to peacefully say goodbye to our beloved and special golden, Belle. She was sixteen and a half years old, and was a major part of our whole family's lives, so making the decision to say farewell was extremely painful. Dr. Allison was very understanding of that, and catered to our requests and our timeline, never rushing us through. The first thing she did when she arrived was approach Belle, give her some love, and tell her it was okay. She clearly wanted to develop a relationship with Belle, however brief and small, to ease Belle's anxiety and make the process easier on her. She let us move at our own pace, gently guiding us from step to step. Belle's last moments were peaceful, and I truly believe they were not scary for her. She passed in a deep sleep, snoring away like she always did. We all were completely overwhelmed by how special of a process it ended up being. It meant a lot to us that Belle could be in the comfort of her own home, knowing she was surrounded by love in those final moments. It was wonderful to have a doctor who could both understand that love and emanate that love in how she treated Belle. She even asked our permission before shaving a small patch of fur, where the injection would take place. She was sensitive to our pain and our questions along the way. Thank you Dr. Allison for appreciating the life that Belle had and the love that we have for her, and for making this experience slightly less painful for our family. It's never a good time to lose a pet especially during a pandemic when you need them the most. Dr Kelli was so amazing and very compassionate while being completely safe. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing the team and Dr. Black were. This is our second at home euthanasia. The first one was with another vet and was good but this was amazing. Dr. Black talked us through everything and reassured us it was time to put our beloved 16 year old Pomeranian to rest. He was so thoughtful and worked with us so that my 15 year old daughter could hold him the entire time. He gave us time after sedation to say goodbye as he slowly became less alert and then came back for the IV and paw print. I HIGHLY recommend Compassion with Paws. Our beloved 14 year old Luna collapsed at the dog park and over the next couple days it was clear she was on a downward spiral and having trouble walking...except when we put all the meat and fish we had been withholding from her diet all these years into her bowl :) We asked friends for recommendations and were referred to Compassion 4 Paws. Dr. Audrey was human (as opposed to purely clinical), respectful and kind throughout the process of putting Luna to sleep and helping us with our grieving. This was all the more exceptional because we had never met her before and this was a signature moment in our lives, associated with so much sadness. I was grateful that even though we had scheduled the euthanasia, Dr. Audrey did her own assessment and said that if there were anything that could be done to improve Luna's quality of life, she would have recommended it instead of putting her to sleep. We knew as Luna aged that when her quality of life became too compromised, we did not want her to suffer just because it was too hard to let go. So Dr. Audrey's conclusion was extremely reassuring, as we wanted to know we were indeed making the right decision for Luna. The process of putting Luna to sleep was very peaceful and it was clear she did not suffer. Dr. Audrey left us alone with Luna after giving her the first sedative. Luna went into a deep sleep. When Dr. Audrey returned and administered the final medication, Luna breathed deeply 3 times (like snoring) and then was gone. Again, Dr. Audrey left us with Luna for a few minutes and then came back and made a paw print on clay for us to bake and keep. We had the choice to keep her ashes (or not) and, if so, to have her cremated with other dogs or alone. Dr. Audrey wrapped her in a blanket and she and my husband carried Luna in the blanket to her car. We are deeply grateful to have said goodby to Luna in this way. read more

If I could give 100 stars, I would. Dr. Sara and her team are incredibly wonderful in every way and made saying goodbye to my Stella peaceful and private. During such a difficult and emotional time, Dr. Sara was the one bright spot and her compassion and support made losing my best friend bearable. Thank you so much, Compassion4Paws, for doing what you do and doing it so well. read more
