To make a very long story short ... we adopted a dog that wasn't fixed and had worms. It was during covid and veterinarian's were not fixing dogs and were not taking on any new clients. I could not find anyone to help me except Maple Leaf Pet Corner and they have been amazing since the day I walked in with my new rescue! The entire team of vet techs, front desk gurus, the veterinarian's are all incredible people and have all shown to be compassionate, kind, honest and hard working! Our sweet kitty is pretty skittish, but she was the calmest I've ever seen with this vet (Dr. Cotton I think was her name). They did a really solid exam, answered my many, many questions and took their time to establish trust with me and kitty--very appreciated. It took me a long time to write this but today is my Dog Una's heavenly birthday and I want to spare others from this heartache. We had been a long time customer/patient of the Maple Leaf Pet Corner 8300 Lake City Way NE in Lake City Seattle and never had issues at any of our visits. Then Una got sick, to be expected at age 13. On the phone they told me it sounded like cancer and they wanted to test her. She was my first dog and I didn't know the process. They told me to bring her in and they would test her and I would find out before we left. When I got there they checked us in and Una and I went into a room to talk to the vet/tech. They told me that they would sedate Una and test her. If it was cancer we have the option to not wake her up since she was almost 14 and in a lot of pain. I lost it .... I was crying on the floor with my dog for like 30 minutes as they took a sample. Then they told me that they couldn't tell and would send in the sample and call me back. WHAT!!!!! That is not what they told me before they took the sample. So I went home with Una after she woke up and a few days later I called them back and they confirmed it was cancer. I get it they do medical stuff, but they don't seem to understand the process of things. Later I found out there was no way for them to know it was cancer without sending it in to the lab. So why make me think my dog would be put to sleep that day. Their bedside manners are so bad and this is when you need the vet the most, when you fur baby is sick and you need their help. I took Una to a new vet to be put to sleep peacefully, RIP and shame on you Maple Leaf Vet for making it even harder than it needed it be. read more

Inability to communicate cost us over $1000. Brought cat in the morning (10-11AM) for potential stomach issues. MLPC performed x-rays and then a barium test and told us around 5pm that an endoscopy was needed and we should schedule the procedure at an ER. We did so, but MLPC sent the ER NOTHING, so the ER had to do an entirely new set of x-rays and tests from scratch, since the ER were not willing to do a procedure from a single faxed sheet of paper that was misdated and had no information. Essentially going to MLPC was a waste of time and money and we should've just cut out the middleman and headed over to the ER straight away. This is not the first time they have been careless, when I brought in my cats for an initial examination when I first got them, I asked about some crusty buildup around their eyes/nose and was told to not worry. Two weeks later it got crustier and I brought them in for another exam and was told they have a respiratory infection for a while now. Would've been nice to not have been brushed off initially and needed that second exam and subsequent fees. read more

I had an emergency situation with my cat two weeks ago on a Friday morning, called 15 vets. I could see my cats bone through her leg! Somehow she had injured herself inside our apartment and hid it very well but we found out soon after finding dried blood on the floor. Our regular vet flat out said they were too busy, as did all of the other vets we called. This vet said to bring her in. The lady working was very friendly and told us the injury wasn't as bad as it looks, she had our cat patched up within an hour. Sent us home with anti inflammatory meds also. Fitz healed great! I'm firing our old vet and bringing the cats here now. read more

they're very attentive and took great care of my cat and his tail wound. dr. Hofmann was great at soothing my very agitated cat. we ended up needing to amputate about 2inches of his tail. the costs were explained to me clearly and I did not feel awkward asking financial questions. they called me to give an update after my cat's surgery, kept him overnight for observation, and when I came to pick him up the next day the staff and dr. Hoffman sent us home with some meds and an aftercare brochure :-) the friendly office dog, cat, and kittens were also lovely waiting room perks! read more

I called and left a message for my vet that my cat (that's been seen for the same issue twice now over the last 2 months) was peeing blood and they never called me back. They've also never been transparent about the cost of the things they've done for her, they've literally just asked for my card at the end of a visit and won't tell me how much they're about to charge for the visit, they just give me a receipt afterward and send me the detailed invoice after. They also will charge you basically a full exam fee for a 10-minute follow up appointment for an ongoing issue that they admitted was not treated properly at the first visit they charged her at. Not happy, my cat literally peed blood on my bed as I wrote this review. Updating my review since someone from maple leaf responded. Wish I could remove a star. What was told to me at my first visit was, "we are going to try this injection, but if that doesn't work, we should do diagnostic testing." So that's what I agreed to. I got the invoice. You charged me for a full exam and I had to e-Mail you to dispute it. Then you said "oh yeah we should have charged you for the recheck so we will refund you." You refunded me $10 and it wasn't even a refund. It was a credit for a future visit. So a recheck is $10 less than a full exam. Also love how you did not acknowledge that nobody called me back when I called desperately about my cat peeing blood. Excellent. Also EDITH it's Erika. Our cat was in renal failure going to see this vet. I let them know the reason why I was switching vets was due to the previous vet's failure to follow up. Here, the problem was even worse, and the key reason for this review; the front staff's failure to communicate problems to the vet, and the vets (and staff's) failure to recognize critical medical issues, and followup. With our pet's underlying condition we had given her a (VERY EXPENSIVE) blood transfusion, with the need to have followup with an expensive medication. I contacted the facility about the medication several times over several weeks; with no response. Then our pet developed severe diarrhea during the last week. Over that critical time - I again contact the vet multiple times, with *no response*. Our pet was showing - physical manifestations to the diarrhea (not CKD); so we were 'allowed' to take her in, with a second referral to the blood transfusion which obviously did nothing to address the diarrhea issue. During the final days; we were allowed to take in a stool sample; which was tested for parasites (? - for an indoor only pet); and the only treatment for diarrhea was an EXPENSIVE medication - nothing to help or address the results of diarrhea. During the last night, I was seeing her decline, and did basic research - which indicated that she needed immediate care (treatment) from the 2nd day - of having diarrhea (which this vet did not do). Side note: The last time we saw the vet, we had taken in some 'medication' sent to us by accident from a different source. The vet refused to see out pet (out in the car); spend quite some time examining the medication, and told us twice that the (expensive diarrhea treatment) was all that our pet needed. read more

We have been bringing our cats and dogs to Maple Leaf Pet Corner and Dr. Konz for almost 20 years. From puppies/kittens to end of life, and everything in-between, we have found Dr. Konz, Dr. Sweeney, and the entire MLPC staff to be caring, friendly, informative, and they are all extremely passionate about the welfare of all their clients be they furry, feathered, or human. We recently had to say goodbye to our wonderful 13 year old cat Figgins who had been diabetic for 3.5 years (special thanks to Dr. Sweeney who swiftly diagnosed diabetes!). Figgins suddenly started having seizures, one after another, and Dr. Konz was able to take him immediately just when she thought she was done for the day. Dr Konz was ready with a sedative as soon as we walked through the door...sedatives stop seizures and this gave us time to calm down and think clearly. It was difficult to say goodbye to Figgins but it was the right decision to make. I cannot express how grateful we were to have this all happen in the comfort of MLPC and with our favorite vet. Since we have been long time clients of MLPC and Dr. Konz, we have had numerous visits. We have always been impressed by the level of care, expertise, compassion, and diligence they provide. This little vet office on the corner is a place of love. If your animal has a defective tail, they can do cosmetic surgery on that tail. There's animals running amock - you could meet up with a couple of lambs, chickens, baby kitty cats. It's a wonderful place to visit. These people are Saints. The quality of care and the availability and attentiveness are greater than I've ever experienced with a vet. I will always bring my animals here! My cat had an abscess that was REALLY bad and gross. It had broken open. They got me in immediately and the price was more than fair and totally explained to me beforehand and afterwards. I was hoping for very little in terms of courtesy and care due to the last minute urgent nature of our visit, and we received better care and more compassion than any other time I have ever been to a vet for anything. I am honestly furious with this place. We started coming here after we rescued our pittie who has loads of allergies. For NINE months we were being charged in between 250-600 a visit for GUESSES. Not once did they offer an allergy test despite my asking and frustrations with my dog who is obviously in pain and miserable. We have EASILY sank over 3k into this business to then be GHOSTED after I sent an email about my disappointment in our treatment. I have worked in dog grooming and dog care for 10+ years and never have I dealt with a more negligent and uncaring office. I went to Helping Hands in Lynwood for a second opinion, they talked openly about pricing and got our boy a blood allergy test, and finally we got some answers and a clear path of treatment for our dog. Had MLPC done this in the first sign of outbreak, this would have saved us thousands of dollars and my dog wouldn't have suffered for nearly a year with food allergies we were unaware of. This dog has been in physical pain for almost a year because of this negligence, all the while these people were just throwing high cost medication and avoided a simple test that would have actually helped our animal. We will not be back. I will be very angry for a long time. Do not bring your pets here. It's worth the drive to go somewhere further than go here. Shame on you Maple Leaf Pet Corner. read more

The reviews on here are on a good indication of the quality of this office! Since I brought my cat, Luda, home in 2010 I have seen veterinarians on every side of the lake, seemingly in every neighborhood from Aurora to Juanita to Bellevue. I'm happy to say, we will be continuing to see Dr. Neil at Maple Leaf Pet Corner from now on! What I really appreciate is about a week after having come in for a weight-check and a behavior consultation (cranky kitty), I called them and not only was I remembered, but Luda and her visit were remembered as well. I always feel like I get a lot out of my discussions with Dr. Neil, both during my office visit and over the phone. Everyone at Maple Leaf Pet Corner has done a lot to answer all of my questions. I got a recommendation for a spray and diffuser with Feliway from Rita, who works in the office (possibly as a vet tech?) and a followup call from the Dr. Neil. Their recommendation was on point and Luda's mood has improved considerably! Of mention: Their hours are fantastic and they are flexible with scheduling appointments. The office is on a busy street (Lake City Way) with limited street parking, but I appreciate that they are in my neighborhood. We sadly have had to switch vets after being clients for almost five years. Something happened to this place last year- we no longer were able to schedule with Dr. Hoffman as it seemed she was extremely booked up, the new receptionists were rude, and every visit seemed like the place was in constant chaos. I witnessed stuff that should not be happening in a vet office right next to a surgery. Our dog has an undiagnosed issue that has slowly become more and more constant, and instead of doing more tests past a specific X-ray we were told by a new doctor to regularly give her steroids which seemed incredibly unhealthy when we don't even know what it would be for. Today I went elsewhere, and was given far better information on what to watch for and what our possibilities are that we can whittle down on. If you're looking for a new vet, look elsewhere. read more

Been going here since I moved to the U District, and they've been incredibly helpful! My 4-year-old rescue cat randomly could not tolerate moving to our new apartment. The veterinarians here were very sweet to my nervous feline. They were able to prescribe and adjust medication for my cat at a reasonable price, and now he is basically back to his normal self! It is really easy to refill the medication here, and I haven't had any problems making appointments or picking up prescriptions. They also noticed a few things about my cat that other vets hadn't mentioned--like the fact that he actually is a little chubby now! Receptionists are very helpful and the vets usually call back within a reasonable time frame. The prices for the visits, meds, and extra supplies are reasonable. Very disappointed with the first time service I have received from Maple Leaf Pet Corner. On Monday I came in to check out the kittens that they had available for adoption. I was told by Lisa that there were two kitten available for adoption. I brought them home that day with intentions of adopting. On Wednesday she asked me to bring them back on Friday for the vet to check out and make sure that they are ok. Today I brought them in and told her that we are very excited to adopt the kittens. After waiting in the waiting room while she helped another customer and talked on her cell phone she told me that the kittens are not available for adoption and that she promised them to me while the "owner" had already promised them to someone else. Lisa told me that I would not be able to take them home anymore. I asked if I could take them home so that my 6 yr old daughter could at least say good bye to them. She said "my heart breaks for you but no you cant." She then mentioned that she has gotten in trouble in the past for promising things to clients before speaking to the lender/vet. I asked to speak with a manager and she said she is the manager. My first time experience with Maple Leaf Pet Corner has been very disappointing and now I need to break my 6 yr old daughter's heart. I adore our vet! We recently got a mini-schnoodle and really had no idea how to pick a vet. After the great reviews here, we decided to give this place a try. We were so glad we did. When our little boy came home he had some parasites that Dr. Karen Konz-Hofmann took care of right away. She has an excellent bedside manner with dogs and cats. And didn't mind that my 2 year old loved to come along for visits. My little schnoodle is always happy to go to the vet and never minds his shots. We recently had him neutered and it was such a simple procedure. They took such good care of him! The staff, the staff animals like Buzz, and Karen are just wonderful people and I trust them with the care of my puppy. Luckily I haven't had to use them for any emergencies but I feel confident they would help if there were any. I plan to start bringing my kitties here too! read more

My cat got very sick over the course of a week. Like most cats, she tried not to show it. We initially filed her strange behavior under "Cats Are Weird, example 53,439" but discovered her very ill one morning. Dr. Karen at Maple Leaf was able to see us right away. Our sick cat was put at ease by her and by her wonderful staff. We opted to do the high end of testing and medication, and it was a good thing -- our cat had swallowed a toy and it wasn't passing. Going home with meds might have been pretty risky. The quick diagnosis and resolution were wonderful. Reasonably priced, too. We haven't chosen to use her as regular vet because there were unrestrained shelter animals (being cared for by the clinic) passing in and out of the exam room the whole time we were there. My cat's an only child for a reason and is stressed out by seeing even tiny dogs. It's awkward being alone with a sick animal and having a tech randomly pass you a kitten and then disappear for ten minutes. My own cat is pissy, the kitten is crying, I don't feel like I can leave, I'm not sure I should be exposing either of them to each other... and I feel like a monster complaining about kittens on the internet! Their in house rescuing is awesome and it seems like nobody else has this problem. Maybe I caught them on an off day. read more

We moved to Seattle from Brooklyn in July, and in September one of my cats got a nasty eye infection on a Sunday. Of course, all the vet clinics I called were closed, and I left about 6 frantic messages on various machines. Maple Leaf Pet Corner called me back the same night and got me an appointment the next morning. The office was warm and inviting; the vet was kind, professional, and efficient; and the visit plus the medication cost $70. Dr. Karen Hoffman is amazing. She goes above and beyond to help her clients and patients. We went to Dr. Hoffman for a second opinion after another vet said that out 1.5 year old cat had gingivitis and needed expensive teeth cleaning. Dr. Hoffman assured us that our cat's teeth were perfectly healthy and even showed us how pink and healthy our kitty's gums were. The other vet had been charging us for expensive procedures and Dr. Hoffman does none of that. She truly cares for the animals that come in and is honest in her assessments. My dogs love coming to see Dr. Konz - which says a lot. You dont' have to drag them by the leash once they see where they're going. They actually right up to the front door (after of course peeing on every single bush and fence along the way). The clinic itself doesn't even seem like a vet clinic. It's a cute little house with a front door and a little porch. Inside is more like a clinic (front desk, waiting chairs, fish tank), but there's also a sweet little "house dog" with this crazy under-bite who greets everyone. The staff also let's your dogs roam the place and check things out. It's much more relaxed than most of the vets I've been to, and I think my dogs can sense that. I'm only giving a four because sometimes it seems that they push medicines and treatments that maybe you don't absolutely have to give your little furry friends which of course drives the bill up. read more

Karen Konz DMV is a bright beam of sunshine when your pet has a problem. She obviously LOVES what she does and is so pasionate about her profession. I took my puppy there for his second-round of booster shots (post-infant stage). She was gentle and caring. She gave great advice and was very knowledgable. She even found out why our dog kept scratching his ears so much. The pricing is reasonable as vets go; they're pretty standard. But they're also very flexible; if you have scheduling conflicts they totally work around them. A pleasant experience for me, if not for my dog. read more

WOW! Taking your four legged child to the Vet isn't easy, finding one that you love is even more difficult. I thankful had met Karen Hofmann while she was shopping at University Village and she said she would love to meet my 5 lb Pomeranian, Violet. So finally 4 months later, I did and I have to say that from the moment I walked in, they were so warm and welcoming! Even Buzz, their resident dog came out to greet us as first time guests. Violet got her yearly shots. We got her flea medicine and Karen just gave insight as to what to watch for, like her sliding kneecaps (there's a far more official term, but that's not my trade) and other advice. Our last vet in Minnesota constantly was trying to up our bill with some new stupid add on but that was not the case one bit here. Karen even clipped Violet's nails herself and Violet didn't go into hysterics as she normally does. She wasn't easy but Karen took her time and did it gently herself. I am extremely happy after my first visit at this vet today! My recently adopted cat is quite shy and I was a little nervous about taking her in, but she ended up being very comfortable in this caring environment. When you walk in to the clinic, a staff member is immediately ready to help you. If you're a first time visitor, the paperwork takes about 2 minutes to complete (bring past vet paperwork if possible). Within 5 minutes of walking in the door, I was in a check up room getting started with my appointment. Two of the staff members spent lots of one on one time with me and my cat, discussing every little thing I could come up with. They were patient, informative, and made sure I knew all of my options in regards to treatment. They even presented me with an estimate before actually doing anything. Once we got going with treatment stuff, it was all quick and smooth. Not rushing, as they obviously respect you and your pet, but they are definitely efficient. Two of the best things from my visit that stuck out in addition to the friendly and hard working staff: 1. My cat was very comfortable and they were sensitive to her 2. Every question I asked was answered thoroughly (I ask lots of questions!). I'm so very glad to have found a good place for my cat, and will be coming back regularly! Any extra expense (it isn't the cheapest vet around, but not bank breaking) is worth it in my opinion. read more

I have never been to a vet clinic that I've loved so much! We see Dr. McNeal every time because of her caring nature. She first comes down to the floor with our dogs and never makes them get on the scary table unless necessary. She spends a few minutes at each visit making sure our dogs are comfortable with her before she begins any exam. She will sit on the floor with us during the entire exam sometimes so our dogs feel comfortable. She takes her time and never gets frustrated. Her voice is so nurturing and she is so compassionate with the animals. I have already recommended her to my friends with new pets and will continue to do so. Also, the receptionist Rita is extremely friendly. She always calls to check on us a few days later when our dogs were seen for a sick visit and she calls with our results from any lab work we had done. read more

WE LOVE DR. KAREN HOFMANN!!!! As any pet owner would agree with me, pets are NOT just pets. They are part of the family, and like most, my spoiled baby! So choosing the *right* vet is serious business. We found Maple Leaf Pet Corner through the reviews on Yelp and we have been coming here for the last 3 years for our pup, Lucy. After a somewhat rocky start, we felt at ease and appreciated that the staff here will go out of their way to make our visits comfortable. Lucy has a lot of insecurities/fears/anxiety and can be difficult when there are other animals present in the office, so I love that I can pop my head in and let them know of Lucy's arrival, in which they would let us go straight into an empty room for her exams. Dr. Hofmann is very pleasant. understanding, caring, sweet, thoroguh, knowledgable, etc. THE LIST CAN GO ON!! Her calm demeanor is also very very helpful when you have a million thoughts going on in your head.
