Dr. Black was very compassionate when he came to my home to help my 18 year old Siberian Cat, Natasha, cross the Rainbow Bridge. When he sat down on the floor next to her, she crawled out of her cat bed and straight into his lap. It was as if she sensed he was a good person who truly cared about her and easing her pain. read more

Yesterday we had to say good-bye to Barney, a loving and loyal member of our family for 14 years. Due to COVID-19, a trip to our vet's office didn't appear realistic. I was apprehensive in having an in-home service being provided, as I had no idea what the person would be like or how the process would really go. When Dr Allison showed up at our door, all my concerns melted away. Even through her face mask, I could see the compassion in her eyes. She never rushed any step, she gave us every second we needed with Barney. The setting was beautiful. Our family was able to sit on a blanket in the backyard with Barney on his pillow. No words could ever explain just how grateful I am to Dr Allison for helping Barney transition in the most deserving and caring way possible. read more

This past year has been full of heartbreak, as we've had to say goodbye to our two wonderful boys in the last 8 months due to losing battles with CKD. We've used Compassion 4 Paws both times, and are beyond grateful for their entire team. From the setting up the euthanasia appointment to the excruciating final goodbye, you're met with kindness, empathy, and a reverence for how special the human-pet relationship is - they're all truly angels for doing the work they do. Unfortunately our dogs went downhill very quickly in their last days/hours, and in both cases we had to reschedule their appointments for a day earlier so they wouldn't endure any more suffering. Each time, Compassion 4 Paws was more than accommodating, and was able to send someone out the same day. We've worked with Dr. Allison, Dr. Sara, and Dr. Julia; all three are some of the most gracious, gentle humans you'd ever hope to meet. They arrived right within the appointment window (so appreciated, as the anticipation is brutal), were incredibly caring in explaining how the process would go, and allowed us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. We were touched by the handwritten sympathy cards we received afterwards for both boys...such a heartfelt gesture. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us our dog-sons over the rainbow bridge peacefully - your team's commitment to providing a caring experience is above and beyond. read more

My sweet 12 year old Murphy Golden Retriever went from frolicking to mostly immobile in only a few short months. It was devastating and after he began to stop eating I knew it was time. I wanted him to be at home when he passed. I found Compassion 4 Paws through an internet search. They were so incredibly caring with everything. Dr. Black was so thoughtful, compassionate and put my Murphy at ease. He made an intolerable situation not only tolerable but so peaceful for me and my boy. I can't thank them enough for their thoughtfulness in this difficult time. read more

Really great experience (under the circumstances). Left a voicemail the night before and a nice lady called right back around 8am. Was able to get a noon appointment with Dr Black. When you have a pet that needs to go and the decision has been made, a fast response is incredibly important and they delivered. If I had not been able to get same day response necessity would have dictated taking my cat to a clinic which would have been way more traumatic on him. Dr Black explained everything on what to expect and was very respectful and patient. Putting a pet to sleep is already hard and emotional, on par for many with losing a human loved one. Their prompt service and compassionate bedside manner made a difficult experience better and easier. read more

This is a place you don't ever want to need, but yet are so thankful they are there. After our beloved dog was diagnosed with terminal cancers and we exhausted all avenues for treatment, we contacted Compassion 4 Paws. From the beginning to the end, they were absolutely wonderful Dr. Allison was our doctor and came to our house twice for hospice visits before the ultimate day of euthanasia. Both times, Dr. Allison was extremely professional but also displayed such a heartfelt compassion and care for Mercy (our dog) and us. I was always impressed how kind she was to us and made us feel like her only client. All the staff we dealt with was extremely, as their name notes, compassionate. The final day, Dr. Allison was so kind and caring. She walked through everything else and ensured the whole time our wonderful girl was being cared for and not in any pain or conscious. This was the hardest thing we ever had to go through, but I am so thankful for Dr. Allison and everyone at Compassion 4 Paws. While we never want to go through this again, some day we will because we'll open our hearts to another dog. And again, when that hard day comes, we know who we'll turn to. read more

I don't know anything that Compassion 4 Paws could have done better in our painful, urgent crisis at home. Our cat of 20 years (!) suddenly took a painful turn, and it was clear from his condition that this was the end. We had promised each other we would provide as much peace and comfort for him as possible. But the timing was a nightmare: The middle of a Seattle snowstorm on the Sunday after Christmas! With snow and ice piling up on the roads, and our hearts breaking, we called a variety of services that people had recommended, including Compassion 4 Paws. We spoke with Kelly, the care coordinator, who did everything she could in spite of the conditions and the timing. She found Dr. Nicole, who was already out in the storm providing service. Nicole was willing to drive to our house in Shoreline even though she was also attending to clients in South Seattle and Snohomish -- quite a distance from our house. We realize that this was a case of going above and beyond the call of duty. And yet, Nicole arrived in a timely manner. Despite the complicated challenges, she was patient, gracious -- the *ideal* helper in desperate circumstances. She made our cat comfortable. She made us comfortable. She listened attentively. She offered useful counsel. The process went smoothly. (We've been through this before with other services, and we know that things can go badly.) And as Nicole drove off into the snow, we were able to grieve in a spirit of gratitude. Thank you, Compassion 4 Paws. You were an answer to urgent prayers. read more

I highly recommend this company! I filled out an inquiry online and within an hour I heard back from Emily. She was the most caring, compassionate, kind person to have on the other end of the line while I was having to make some very emotional choices. Dr Black arrived at my house the next day to send my girl over the rainbow bridge. He was professional, kind, quiet, and treated my kitty like she was a part of his family. Dr Black went over the procedure fully with me so I understood what would be happening. He left the room to enable me to have some privacy with my kitty before the end. Being my first time to experience a euthanasia first hand I can't imagine a better way for an end of life procedure for your pet. My kitty was at home, in her bed, with her person until the end. We called Compassion 4 Paws on a Friday afternoon because our cat was not in good shape and was not acting normal any more and were given an appointment on Sunday, which is really good news considering my normal vet was totally booked up. My kitty had been fighting kidney disease for the past few years and so we knew it was his time and we wanted to give him the final gift of passing away at home. When the vet arrived at our house we could tell right away that she was a pro. She was so sincere, compassionate and understanding and it was very clear she wanted to do everything possible to take care of our kitty. She made sure that our kitty was as comfortable as possible before helping him to pass away peacefully. It was all we could have asked for during this difficult time. If you're in my position, I am so, so sorry, but I can affirmatively say that you will not regret using Compassion 4 Paws. They will take great care of you and your fur baby. read more

The word "compassion" is so appropriate in the name of this business. The service provided by Dr. Kelli was the very definition of compassion and empathy. Our golden retriever Hudson let us know he was ready to go yesterday. There is no easy way to say goodbye to your family member. That said, I don't know how it could have been a more peaceful transition. We were not rushed, there were a lot of tears and Hudson was treated with dignity and respect from the moment Dr. Kelli arrived, until the moment they drove away. This is such an impactful service Compassion 4 Paws is providing. It cannot be an easy job to have to do in any way. We cannot say enough great things about the sensitive, compassionate, and knowledgeable care our beloved cat received from Compassion 4 Paws today. My husband and I both happen to be clinical psychologists and were so grateful to find a service that made this difficult time so seamless, loving, and peaceful for Twyla, our beloved old lady rescue Siberian who still displayed her saucy personality even with her failing body. Living on the tiny amount of food she could still manage to nibble and sheer will, she somehow managed her final hurrah: to climb from a chair to a desk to a sunny, wide window sill, "deciding" to go HER WAY, which Dr. Hagen intuitively understood, as though granting Twyla's last make-a-wish: to receive her first injection right there in the sunshine. Twyla showed no distress, then got herself down to the floor on her own where she promptly curled up. Dr. Hagen then placed her on the sofa next to me where Twyla soon drifted into deep unconsciousness as I stroked her and we played soothing music by Eric Satie. Without rushing the process, Dr. Hagen knew the right time to administer Twyla's final shot, and our beloved cat drifted from this life painlessly. This service was truly worth every penny, and we feel deep gratitude towards Dr. Hagen and the well-run Compassion 4 Paws. read more

Trigger Warning: Just over 6 months ago, our nearly 15 year old dog, Diesel died. And just over a month ago, our 18 year old cat, Jameson died. Compassion 4 Paws provided euthanasia services for both of them. In the past when me cats were terminally sick I took them to the vet's office and left before the doctor administered meds to end their lives. I thought it would be too hard to see them no longer living. I read an article by a veterinarian that made me realize my beloved pets left this world confused, stressed and with strangers. At that point I promised whenever a pet of mine was at the end of their lives I would be there with them. When Diesel was diagnosed with lung cancer it came as a shock to our family. We expected he'd have more time than a month. He was generally healthy and had a lot of energy still even for an older dog. By the time he was gasping for a breath, I knew it was time to get help. I emailed Compassion 4 paws at night and the next morning I had an appointment for that day. Dr. Julia came and Diesel greeted her with tail wags and tried to get up to say hello. The whole family was there. She explained the process to us and gave us time to hug him, tell him we loved him and say goodbye. It was such a relief when his breathing became normal again as the sedative relaxed him. Jameson had been sick for over three years with numerous ailments. I knew this time was coming. I contacted Compassion 4 Paws by email at night and the next morning we had an appointment with Dr. Danielle. She was sympathetic, gentle and caring. She explained for us what she would do and gave us time to love him and say goodbye. We never felt rushed through the process. Losing a loved one is an awful experience, whether you're expecting it or not. Having a trained veterinarian come to our house so that our pets could leave this world surrounded by their loved ones in their own comfortable environment, made a huge difference in managing our grief. I recommend in home euthanasia and Compassion 4 Paws to every pet owner now. read more

This is never easy but these people are compassionate and caring, kind, gentler and do everything they can to make the journey easier. They manage expectations. Dr Kelli helped us with Jujubee and she was amazing. Soft spoken, patient, so gentle and she just gauged us and adapted to the situation. She explained everything she was doing first and waited for us to understand. When it comes time again we will come back for the help we need. Office staff were gentle and kind. The cremation service was very professional. Communication throughout the process was above expectation. We have been through several of these at other locations and this was by far the very best experience we have had. read more

We recently made the heartbreaking decision to put our 12 year old lab down. We were referred to Compassion 4 Paws by our vet. We were able to schedule an appointment within a couple of days of our call. Dr. Sara was so respectful and compassionate. The process was humane and gave us lots of quality time to say goodbye to our sweet boy. A couple small details that made the entire experience particularly notable to me. First, we were given a window of time when Dr. Sara would arrived at our home. She arrived exactly on time. I really appreciated this as it is agonizing to wait knowing what is to come. This showed me that she respected our time and feelings. Secondly, we received a handwritten card a few days from Compassion 4 Paws a few days later, which was very appreciated. We were all distraught. He had a wonderful life with us for almost 9 years and full of memories. I am glad that we were able to put him down with as little suffering as possible. Long Story Short: If you are already facing the extremely difficult decision to peacefully put your puppy-kid to rest, Compassion 4 Paws is amazing and will be the best decision during this awful time. Full Review: My beloved vet and I had been discussing letting my babydog go for months, and I chose Compassion 4 Paws at her suggestion once I confirmed it was time. I adopted my "first-born" at the age of 9 weeks, and she was 15.5+ years old when it was time to let her go, so I wanted to make sure she was sent off as peacefully and comfortably as possible. They are aptly named, as the Care Coordinators showed nothing but compassion from start to finish. I primarily interacted with Shawnee, and she made everything clear and easy for me, and never made me feel like a nuisance with my 1,000 questions. I had never met Dr. Tessa before the procedure, but you would have thought she, my dog and I all had a loving relationship for years with the way we interacted. Dr. Tessa gave me exactly what I needed during an incredibly sad time, treating us and our home with the utmost respect and kindness. I paid for an extra clay paw print, and gave very specific instructions on how to engrave my pets' unique name, and there were no hiccups with either request. I was told it would take 10-14 days to receive the ashes back from the private cremation, but I received them in 6 days, and was given a call by Shawnee the next day to make sure my vet reached out for pick-up. I couldn't have asked for a better send off for my four-legged soulmate, even given the extra considerations due to the pandemic. I highly recommend. Compassion4Paws is a wonderful service. Dr. Kelli facilitated a calm, peaceful, loving send off for our sweet old pup in our backyard yesterday. She was incredibly compassionate and warm, putting us all at ease right away. We felt she also went above and beyond by kindly arranging things so that my husband, who is not cool with needles, was never able to see one. We were all treated with sensitivity and respect from start to finish with this service- I really cannot imagine a better option for saying a final goodbye to a furry family member. Useful notes: -we called and were able to arrange an appointment the day prior -it takes a bit of time after the injection of sedative for the pet to fall asleep, and the vet offered to step away for this time (although still available and close by) so our guy had private time with us as he drifted off (we were able to take masks off for this since the vet had stepped away) -the vet gave us as much information as we wanted along the way read more

Its hard to write a review for this service. Its not "woohoo as good as it gets" - it is "the dignity and compassion our dog deserved". We'd been following the quality-of-life assessment approach for our geriatric 15yo Labrador - Abbey - for about 6 months. We read about at-home service before, and knew that this eliminate much anxiety of going to the vet's office. Compassion 4 Paws was recommended by our friends at Companion Animal. We called and spoke with one of the vets about the procedure, and the condition of our dog - at first we weren't sure, but after counsel we felt we were making the right decision. We made an appointment for the following week. That day, we upped Abb's arthritis pain meds, bought some Trader Joes Cooked Chicken, and took her to her favorite park to chase the ducks and the squirrels for the first time in ages, and unfortunately the last time. For an hour we briefly glimpsed the puppy we once had - barking and frolicking. She dined like the queen that she was on prime chicken. Then suddenly we were back to the fatigue and reality of her age and condition. We took Abb home, and Dr. Allison came to visit shortly after. Dr. Allison was super calm, and very familiar with communicating with our pack of Labradors - they knew something was up, they were very subdued. Dr. Allison walked us through the process again, just to be clear what would happen, and gave us some more time with Abb while she prepared the area. I laid next to Abb and cuddled with her, as a strong sedative was administered - her labored breathing became so peaceful. I held her tight as the last medication was applied and her breathing slowed - one of the hardest things I've ever done. Dr. Allison gave us more time - our dogs had a chance to see that she'd past. She took an imprint of Abb's paw, then I helped her carry Abbey out to the car, and said goodbye one last time. Dr. Allison was more than just professional, she helped us be sure that this was the right path for our beloved Abbey, she ensured the process moved at our pace, and consoled us when clearly we were hurting afterwards. I can't recommend this service enough - thank you Dr. Allison and C4P. read more

We have faced the sad moment of saying goodbye 2 times before. This time we decided to do everything on our porch. It was an incredible experience. Dr. Tessa was compassionate and very good at everything she had to do. She began with a sedation injection, which sent our little girl to sleep in her daddy's arms. Then, Dr. Tessa insert the IV easily. She injected the fluid so slowly that it must have taken her 2 minutes. As a result, our little girl felt nothing. She simply glided from sleep to forever. Dr. Tessa create the paw print impression for us. She stretched a beautiful blue blanket in the back of our station wagon. Once we laid our little girl to rest, Tessa covered her. She offered us to bring flowers from the garden for Sophie's journey. The cost was $625, which I include her so people like me can make an informed decision. No one wants to experience putting their pet down. We felt very privileged to do so as it's not inexpensive. However, it was right for our family and the experience was very peaceful. Every single thing Dr. Maia came to do she did with such grace and professionalism. She knocked on the door instead of ringing the jarring doorbell. She removed her shoes. She walked slowly, but confidently over to our dog to meet her. It was obvious that all aspects of the procedure were thoughtfully practiced and refined. Dr. Maya left the room to give our family space to mourn while our dog slipped into sleep, and then again when she slipped into death. She returned each time when she heard that we were quiet so she could finish what she came to do. Instead of pronouncing our dog dead or saying that her heart had stopped, Dr. Maia listened to the stethoscope and said, "It's quiet in there." We loved getting the complimentary clay paw print, which has been added to the little altar we have for Lizzy, the best dog in the world. I don't even know where to start in singing this businesses praises. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of life's hardest moments. And the women at Compassion for Paws - from my initial sobbing phone call down to the final moments with my sweet old lady kitty - i was treated with the most respect, care, empathy and gentleness. I had guilt for making this decision and they made me feel so much better. They were able to get me same or next day apt.s once we decided it was in fact time. Hannah was INCREDIBLE over the phone, and Dr. Nicole was one of the sweetest, gentlest people i've ever met. She handled Ayla (my old lady kitty)'s passing with such dignity, empathy and grace. It was so nice to be able to say goodbye in the comfort of our own home and cuddle my girl one last time in her comfy place we'd been cuddling for many many years; and the paw-print at the end was such a wonderful sentimental touch.
