From my first interaction with compassion 4 paws everything was perfect. They were caring and compassionate. It was a very difficult time for us as our fur baby had been with us almost 15 years. Hannah did an excellent job of informing us went to expect. When the doctor came , she was compassionate and patient, giving us all the time we needed with our girl. I would highly recommend this company for anyone considering euthanasia for their for baby. read more

This took me 2 months to write this review. I still can't believe how it all went down. My sweet 15 1/2 year old girl whom I had the pleasure to take care of for 13 years (adopted her when she was 2). Aside from her arthritis, dementia, and the little lipomas she had growing all over her body... her energy level has always been the same as when I first got her and I really believed I had a solid 1-2 more years with her. One Friday morning, I woke up as per usual to get ready for work, come downstairs to let her out (she was pacing and wandering middle of the night due to her dementia so she gets zipped into her crate for bedtime) and she was sleeping facing away from me. She never ever slept facing away. I touch her bum to wake her as she wasn't waking up to my voice. The moment I touched her, she was cold and rock hard. I couldn't believe what was happening so I had to wiggle her some more and she was just so cold... that's when it hit me. I burst into tears... yelled out for my husband who was still asleep... (it was 6am)... and I had no clue what to do. I mean, I've never had to deal with a death of a pet before (aside from small creatures like fish and hamsters as a kid). My girl was 65lbs of flesh! Like what was I supposed to do? In hindsight, I knew I should have had an emergency plan set up but I just was in denial that she had plenty of time left. I had to google pet cremation services near me and this is where Compassion 4 Paws came in. Sorry this is a long review but then again all my reviews are long. I had wait 2 hours for them to open for business hours and so I decided to email them first. Someone emailed me back shortly so that really helped a lot to get some answers. I called when they opened and unfortunately because it was so last minute they didn't have an appointment ready until 2:30PM (I think, my times might be slightly off because this was 2 months ago). I asked what I can do to keep Delilah in tact so she doesn't go "bad"... I didn't want to keep her exposed because by the time I found her she was already bloated so I sat beside her blasting the AC. I got a call shortly after like an hour or so after the initial call and they said they had an opening around 10 something and so I got ready and loaded Delilah in the car and went over. I'm sorry I forgot the person's name but a super nice guy greeted us, my face was a mess from crying but he made the process so easy and I am forever thankful for everything Compassion 4 Paws did for us. They got Delilah ready in a room and we got to say our goodbyes for as long as we needed. I decided for the private water cremation and picked out an urn. A week and a half-ish later I received a call that Delilah was ready to be picked up. Everything went so smoothly and I just started bursting into tears when I got home and opened up the little package they created for me with her jar of hair and her paw print. Thank you SO MUCH for everything and making my first loss as smooth as possible, she was my soul dog and my best friend. I would not be on this Earth today without Delilah and she was in the best of hands. read more

Sir Winston was born November 2013, so he was twelve and a half at the time of his passing. We discovered he had an aggressive lymphoma earlier this year and chose to keep him comfortable at home due to his age and prognosis. He was put on steroids for the remainder of his time with us, helping to slow his decline. When he took a sharp turn, we made the difficult decision to put him to rest. We went through Compassion 4 Paws and they were absolutely wonderful. They made a difficult and unbearable situation much easier. Their veterinarian came to our home, took time to get to know Winston, his situation, and assessed we were making the correct call. We sat by Winston's bedside while he slowly and painlessly went to sleep one last time, peacefully. Rest in peace Winston. I love you, your family loves you, your friends love you. We will all miss you forever. And THANK YOU Dr. Black and team. We will be forever grateful. read more

Saying goodbye to my beloved 14 year old dog last week was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but working with Compassion 4 Paws made the gut wrenching experience so much better. From the initial phone call to Dr. Erin coming to our home, my dog and I were met with genuine compassion and care at every step. I feel at peace with my dog's passing because he was able to do so peacefully and with so much dignity. I'm looking forward to getting back his ashes and the clay paw print and ink nose print so that he'll always be here with us. read more

Compassion 4 Paws was recommended to me by my sister-in-law who had to let her furbaby go the previous year. She and I agree they made the hardest day of our lives a little easier. The nurse who came was able to read the room and had no problem giving us all the time we needed. She had the right presence to give my baby and I the calm we needed. I felt 100% comfortable having her come into my house. She knew how hard this day was for me and being there in a calm professional manner was everything. The nurse was so kind to let me know everything I needed to know and guided me through what would happen and what to expect. Not having to take my sick boy to the vet (his least favorite place on the planet) on his last day gave me such peace of mind that he could actually go in peace. I could tell she really cared about me and my little guy. Getting his remains back with the paw imprint and a jar of his fur was so comforting to me and worth every penny. The whole experience was wonderful considering this was literally the hardest, saddest day of my life. I would recommend Compassion 4 Paws to anyone who needs to plan for their beloved furbabe to pass in peace at home. read more

I have needed Compassion 4 Paws twice and both experiences were positive all things considered. I highly recommend Dr Nicole.

This is a review that is very difficult to write, and I don't have the words to express the deep and heartfelt gratitude that I have for Compassion 4 Paws. I hope your family never has to use a service like this, but if you find yourself in the unlucky position, I know Compassion 4 Paws will treat you and your beloved animal companion like you are family, and make sure the passing is dignified, peaceful, and done with lots of care. My very best friend, and beloved family member, Tommy, had an aggressive cancer that grew quickly and I needed to schedule an emergency euthanasia appt. I got the news late one evening and called lots of places frantically trying to find someone that could come to my place asap so Tommy could pass in the comfort of our home, with all his favorite toys and blankets, and with all our family so loves him so dearly. They actually answered my late night call, comforted me, and did everything they could to get an appt for us the following day. The doctor that came through was so incredibly kind and comforting; she somehow managed to be supportive yet non-intrusive. Most recently my parent's animal companion also suddenly needed this service. They worked with us to get us an appt even though they were booked and also made recommendations for other companies that might be able to come sooner. It was clear that they wanted the best for our family and did everything they could to support us. In summary, losing an animal companion is such a terrible experience, and I am so grateful to Compassion 4 Paws for treating my family like family during such a painful time, and helping Tommy pass in a dignified, peaceful way. read more

First of all, if you're reading this, I'm so extremely sorry that you're preparing to say your final goodbye(s) to your beloved companion(s). It's an incredibly difficult journey, but I hope sharing our experience with Compassion 4 Paws brings you some comfort. We've had the bittersweet privilege of working with Compassion 4 Paws for all three of our senior dogs--Bones (12, brindle pitbull boy, 60 lbs, the youngest), Bijou (18, miniature poodle girl, 11 lbs, the boss lady), and Rusty (14, a mutt boy, 65lbs, the middle boy and the best gentleman I've ever met)--at the end of their lives. Each passing was unique, just like their personalities, and the care we received was nothing short of extraordinary. Bones loved lying on his cot outside in the backyard, so he passed peacefully in our arms there, surrounded by the sunshine. Bijou, our little lap dog, passed in our arms on the couch, where she always loved to be close to us. Rusty passed next to the fireplace on his orthopedic bed, perfectly positioned under the TV so he could keep an eye on us, as he always did. Compassion 4 Paws and Dr. Black made these deeply emotional moments as peaceful and dignified as possible--for both us and our pets. Their care, sensitivity, and advocacy for the most comfortable end-of-life experience meant the world to us. We wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Black and Compassion 4 Paws to anyone facing this difficult decision. I'm deeply grateful for the privilege of providing this loving and gentle goodbye to our dogs. Knowing they were at peace in their favorite places, surrounded by love, brought us solace in the midst of our heartbreak. read more

I hate that I'm having to make another post so soon after losing Lilly. Again we had Dr. Tessa help us say goodbye to our sweet boy, Bentley. Dr. Tessa was amazing. It brings comfort to know that Dr. Tessa helped them both on their journeys. I'll miss my sweet pups so much. read more

Absolutely amazing team on a soul crushing day. I called right when they opened on a Saturday morning, and they had someone out two hours later. The woman on the phone was compassionate and kind, they sent a detailed email of everything that happens so I knew what to expect, When Dr. Black arrived he was amazingly patient with me- I was a mess. He was gentle with Caly, walked through everything for me and gave me a lot of time to process each step. He also asked about what she was like, and brought back better memories. I don't know that I would have the strength he has to do that job- but it is such a gift to pets and pet parents. Caly passed peacefully laying in my lap at home surrounded by her things. And her brother cat was allowed to come sniff her after she passed, in hopes it might help him understand why she's no longer here. A horrible day but an amazing company. read more

Love this option for end of life for our furry family. Dr. Sara was so nice. She came to our home, with all the care & understanding you need for helping your pet go. I've used Compassion 4 Paws three times now. In-home euthanasia performed by patient, kind, understanding, highly skilled veterinary doctors is for me the only way I'll ever let my furry loved ones leave us. This last time our cats and puppy bore witness, and after sniffing the deceased they spent the day and night with us, we all mourned together and loved each other. It gives the whole pack a chance to understand what's happened to the packmate that they each have a complex emotional relationship with. As well, I got to hold him during the whole process, he was in him surrounded by loved ones and not in some unfamiliar environment surrounded by strangers. Dr. Black and the others that provide this service are heroes who have dedicated themselves to a highly unhappy task for the greater good of the animals themselves, as well as their people. Providing the best death possible is a great act of love. read more

I contacted Compassion 4 paws 3 weeks before my dog needed to be euthanized to make sure I would have everything ready when it was time to say good bye. I gave them my address at that time. Their website shows that my town is within their service area. They did not raise an issue with it at that time. At the end, when my dog's time had come, I called, and they told me I was way outside their service area. They had sent me an email 3 weeks prior, saying they would be there, then they refused. My dog died an agonizing death, and all I could do was watch and cry and tell him I loved him, while frantically calling vets to see if someone else could make a house call. I wish I could rate them a negative score. read more

I cannot say enough about this wonderful organization. From the initial call to schedule euthanasia to the moment the doctor wrapped my sweet puppy up in a warm blanket in preparation for transport my pup, my family and myself were treated with the utmost kindness and gentleness. This was my first experience with losing a pet and I really did not know what to expect. Dr. Tessa took time to explain the process to us and to answer all of our questions thoroughly. Her approach to our good boy was so tender and obviously knowledgeable that I felt very comforted by her presence as did our dog. When the time came to say goodbye, we were allowed as much time as we needed--Dr. Tessa gave us space and allowed us to say goodbye as a family. At no point in the process did we feel rushed, even though it was later in the evening. Compassion4Paws will always hold a place in my heart. read more

Cannot say enough great things about Compassion 4 Paws. They were able to come out to our home to help us say goodbye to our beloved Basset Hound Penny. Julia was absolutely delightful and explained every step very thoroughly and gave us time to process. They are the definition of professionals, every single person who works for this company. Great caring vet and staff, however their processes and quality are lacking. I received several emails with changes on which vet was coming to the home. A little disturbing. Once the vet came to the house it ran smoothly. However, when I received the cremains, the bag was sealed with a loose zip tie and the bag top was cut off just above the zip tie. When pulling him out of the linen bag, my dogs cremains poofed out of the bag all over me. They really need to work on their quality processes. Dr. Alison was great. This is the second time I have used them and they seem much less organized. For the price, it could be much better. read more

I sadly had to contact Compassion 4 Paws last week to visit my home. I had read many many reviews about them and kept them in mind because of my aging pup. I was impressed from the phone contact to the appointment and follow up. Dr. Nicole was scheduled for my home visit. She was prompt and highly sensitive to the delicate nature of these calls she needs to make. She introduced herself and went through the procedures they use. She wanted to confirm we were comfortable with each step of the way. My daughter and son-in-law were here with their pet allowing their pet to say goodbye as well. I was able to hold my dog (Ted, a 17 yr old dachshund/poodle mix) for as long as I wanted. We were able to regulate how much time we needed without feeling rushed. Dr. Nicole stepped away from our family area so we could have some private time with Ted. I highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws if you need to say goodbye to your sweet pets. My daughter and are were very very please without any reservations. We now have a lasting warm goodbye in our own home. I received a very very sweet note from them this week, giving their condolences. Again, I am so happy to provide this review for their services. The heartache of losing our sweet Lyla is still fresh, but our experience was so gracious and caring I feel moved to find some words. Although our old pup had been struggling for a while, we weren't 100% sure it was time. We didn't want to wait until her suffering was absolute, that's the terrible beauty and privilege of deciding on their behalf. We made the call this past Tuesday for a same-day appointment. Dr. Nicole entered our home, sat with our family, and connected with Lyla with such tenderness and grace. Lyla was typically nervous with new people, but immediately warmed to Dr. Nicole and even placed her head in her hands. She was ready to be free. We'd given my 7-year old daughter the option to participate as much or as little as she wanted, and she ended up in and out of the room riding big feelings and waves of tears. Dr. Nicole was so kind, patient, and compassionate. We truly felt held in this agonizing farewell. Thank you so very much for your service. It is a gift. read more

I highly recommend Compassion 4 Paws. The entire staff is very nice, understanding and always willing to offer their support as you're going through the journey of having to say goodbye to your beloved furry family member. Dr Tessa was the veterinarian who came to our house when it was time to say goodbye to our almost 15 year old pup, Molly. She was very gentle with Molly and took time to make sure Molly was comfortable with her and explained to us all the steps. As heartbreaking the experience was, Dr. Tessa made it as good as possibly she could given the circumstances. On the 29th of November 2023 part of our Ohana departed this world. Her name was Kawena a 15yr old Shih Tzu. She was and still will be our shining light, who brought us happiness and love. On this day an Angel helped her with her Journey. Dr. Kelli came to us on short notice because we knew that our baby was starting to feel the bad side of her illness. Dr. Kelli explained to us in detail the steps she would be taking, what could we expect and answered any questions we had. She was kind, warm and very understanding of our fears and the sorrow this would cause. Our original plan was for my wife and I to lie next to her on our bed. But when talking to Dr. Kelli about what are plan was and how it was a very hard night for our baby who just had fallen asleep, she suggested we could just continue with the procedure with Kawena sleeping quietly on her back in my Wife's arms. She looked so peaceful and calm. We both agreed with Dr. Kelli and on this day our Kawena left this world in the arms of the person who loved her more than anything in this world. As I sat and watched her passing i saw no pain, no sound, no hurt, just a calm quiet passing. Dr. Kelli then took our baby from my wife's arms, lay her in a basket with a soft blue blanket covered her and departed. I'd like to thank Compassion 4 PAWs for sending a person who really shows compassion and love towards her job, the families involved and of course our Ohana, "Kawena" Thank you and Aloha.... read more

This is the worst review I have ever had to write, but also the best. I am in complete shambles writing this, but it has to be done and they are just absolute angels. Like others have said I don't know how they do this but they are truly a blessing. My little guy Gahngpeh (Korean for Gangster) hated the vets. He was an anxious ball of worry every time we went. Even his very last visit, where he was just skin and bones from not eating and vomiting due to his kidney disease progressing so badly, I could tell he was anxious. Even as lethargic as he was. But I was told the worst news you could ever get as a pup mom. That his kidney disease had taken a turn for the worse and his heart murmur made it impossible to treat. It's been almost 3 weeks since he passed now and I still bawl my eyes out every night. I feel absolutely guilty I didn't do more sooner, but the doctor told me with kidney disease it can just nose dive down a cliff, and that is what happened. In comes Compassion 4 Paws and their team. I contacted another company prior to them and was placed on hold and told I would be given a call back. I then contact Compassion and was put through to Sheila right away who was able to set up a next day appointment. I wanted to spend more time with my guy, and enjoy every moment. However, with his condition I didn't want him to suffer more. As it was so difficult to watch him go through that. Worse than anything I could imagine for such a beautiful boy. Dr. Nicole came the next day and she was amazing. She walked me through the process and everything that would take place as well as what would happen during (however, absolutely nothing will prepare you for what happens during). He was so out of it and not all there so she didn't get much time to meet him other than pet him and just say how tiny and adorable he was. He was my first dog, for me, I had a family dog prior to him, but he was all mine and I treated like the first born he was. I was not expecting the paw print in clay, the nose and paw print in ink, and the hair clippings they provided. I wanted to do all of that myself for him but everything came crashing so quickly I literally had no time and I wanted to just make sure he was ok and not suffering. This whole process has been absolutely crushing, heartbreaking and left me so empty. But this company has gone above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. They provided a grief pamphlet for after euthanasia, and I will likely have to contact one of the numbers on there seeing as how I'm still just struggling constantly. However, I am told I did the right thing and that he is not suffering now, which is all I want. I as well as the entire family love you G, and we miss you immensely. However, I know with this process, you weren't anxious, nervous, or scared. I told you the moment I got you I would hold onto you till forever, and I made sure I was holding you for your last breathes. We truly appreciate all the love, dedication, help, and compassion this company brings and I thank God everyday we were provided your information. I didn't get a chance to think about it, but I am so glad we went with Compassion for this process. G was loved by everyone, and this company has shown that even after he was gone, they showed so much love and dignity for G, which is all I could ever ask for. Thank you so much for everything. We couldn't have asked for more and appreciate your love and kindness for my beloved G. read more

We just had to let go of our sweet girl Josie on Monday. She had a very aggressive form of cancer that was pressing upon her esophagus making it difficult for her to breathe. Josie is my husbands dog, and ever since the first surgery to remove the tumor, he has been on deployment. Compassion for paws was very understanding to our situation. I was essentially the middle man between my deployed husband and Compassion 4 Paws. Scheduling was rough because with our schedules(his and mine), and our only form of communitcatikn being email, by the time he and I agreed on an appointment, it was either taken or he had to change it because his job would switch his coming home schedule around. So there was a lot of back and forth emailing/switching dates around between myself and Compassion 4 Paws. They were so understanding, through this scheduling nightmare. They always got back to me in a timely manner and did everything they could to accommodate us, which I truly appreciate. Dr Sarah was the one who we worked with when the time came. She came into our home with the up most respect for us and our fur baby. While she explained the procedure, we were able to sit with our dog, wherever we wanted, and listen to what was going to happen in the upcoming minutes. While my husband took the dog out for her last elimination (we were told sometimes at the very end the pet will eliminate and since we wanted her on the couch for the end we decided one last walk would be best) I was able to make the payments and sign any last minute things. As for the procedure: Dr Sarah gave Josie a shot which was a sedative. It took longer than 5 minutes for it to kick in for her. We were able to pet her and comfort her the entire time. Dr Sarah stepped away and gave us the time we needed with our family to cry, hug, and love on Josie for the last time. Once Josie was ready Dr Sarah came and shaved her leg and administered the final dose. It took another few minutes for her breath to slow even further until it had stopped. She came over with her stethoscope to listen for the heartbeat and when she could no longer hear it, she told us she was gone, and was sorry. We wrapped Josie in her favorite blanket and brought her to Dr Sarah's car and gave our final hugs. Letting go of a pet is one of the hardest things we will have to do. But I truly appreciate this service Compassion 4 Paws provides for parents. We were able to take the time we needed with our animal, and not once did we ever feel rushed. If we ever need to do this again, Compassion 4 Paws will be the first place I go to. And I would highly recommend this company to anyone else that treats their animal like a family member. They truly made the awful experience of letting one go, just a little less awful. Thank you Compassion 4 Paws for all that you have done for our family. read more

The vet couldn't have been nicer but... either she or they don't deliver euthanasia in the vein, as 90% of all vets do. Instead it took over 5 minutes for my beloved to die and he groaned and whined the entire time. The guilt I have that his last breaths may have been awful is unbearable. Cannot recommend to others, will never use again. My personal vet was stunned. read more
