The food is good if you have 90 minutes to sit and wait. We waited more than an hour after ordering to get our omelet and breakfast burrito. The staff was ironically not the friendliest considering they had a huge sign "be kind" on their wall. We recently took an Oregon coast road trip and on our way back home we stopped for breakfast at the Compass Rose Cafe. It's a small place that seats about 20 inside, and they have some outdoor seating as well. They were fairly busy, and the three employees seemed a bit overwhelmed. We took it in stride and proceeded to seat ourselves and pour our own coffee from what looked like a self serve coffee station. We looked over the menu and after about 10 minutes, our order was taken and our server apologized for the wait. Little did we know that the initial wait was nothing compared to the wait for our food. We ordered basic bagel sandwiches and it took nearly 30 minutes for it to arrive at the table. Anywhoooo, the menu looked good, and aside from the lengthy wait, everything else was great. Good food, nice, friendly service and clean facilities. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because they're a pretty new place. I'm sure they'll get the kinks ironed out eventually read more

We ended up at this place because it was one of the only places open this particular weekend. The town has been hit hard by corona virus so they were very busy. The hot food was a 45 minute wait so we just got one of their beautiful donuts. The staff was very friendly and were working hard. The donuts were beautiful and tasted amazing. The cashier let us know that they make them home made. We ordered the peaches and cream donut. The peach filling seemed homemade and tasted like it was actually REAL not canned peaches.. it was flavorful without being too sweet. I ordered the Smith River omelette and my boyfriend ordered the special - french toast stuffed with Nutella and strawberries. The omelette was okay. Tucked into an unimpressive building is this little gem! Super friendly employees welcomed us. The avocado toast was scrumptious! Loaded with fresh avocado, nice toasty bread & savory slices, accompanied by a little cup of berries. My husband and I popped in for breakfast on a sunny Saturday and had a very enjoyable experience! I have a dairy allergy, which means I usually have questions about food mods. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made excellent recommendations! They had vegan waffle sticks on the special menu for that day and I pounced on the opportunity to eat waffles... they were delightful! The Atomic burrito was delicious and BIG. I come to Brookings several times a year to camp and often struggle finding vegetarian and vegan food options while I'm here. I finally gave this place a try after having it bookmarked for months, and the food is amazing! They are short staffed right now but the lady running the front was helpful and kept our drinks coming :) they have bottomless mimosas for $13 and they are delicious! The veggie wrap I got with just spring mix, tomatoes, olives and cheese and it was SO good! My husband had the vegan burrito and loved it too. Will definitely be coming here lots on future trips! I'm giving them 5 stars as we were happy with our experience here. It's very small but the food was great and prices were very fair for what you get. Waitress was busy but was attentive enough to make sure we had everything.
