Waffle fries with egg yolk aioli, seasoned sour cream and ketchup
Kate M.

Came for dinner. Ordered the smoked beets, the Gibson cocktail, Smashburger, waffle fries. The smoked beets were the star of the show. I would order this again and again. Perfectly balanced, the cream of the ricotta paired so nicely with the cold cubed beats. The dill pickle chip crumbles on top were phenomenal. The crunch and saltines added such great dimension. Does Smashburger was good. I probably wouldn't order it again, there were pools of grease on the plate and the burger at itself was incredibly salty. But it was what I expected for the most part. The waffle fries were good, I liked that they were crisp and enjoyed the variety of dipping sauces. I thought the seasoned sour cream was better than the egg yolk aïoli. The atmosphere was lively, definitely very loud. Service was fine, our server didn't make us feel rushed, but you could tell they were juggling a lot.

Stuffed Piquillo Peppers ($4 each, 2 pictured)

Welcome to Yelp Company Bar!!!! Wowza when the head chef of neighborhood favorite petite leon left, I was unsure about what might become of it. When they reopened they promised the similar vibe of what we had come to love but less expensive and less fancy. They have absolutely smashed my expectations in the best way possible. The staff is almost the entire same staff and they're awesome. They kept multiple items that were my favorites including the petite leon burger and the basque cheesecake. We had 2 oysters, 2 piquillo peppers, a hot mordella sandwich, petite leon burger, and bread pudding for a total of $89 pre tip. Check pictures for a pricing breakdown but generally thought it was very economical for what you got. I will shoutout the oysters were very fresh and for $4 each is wild. In the north loop they'd be $20 a piece. This is a rare example of a restaurant reopening and in fact out doing even the best parts of petite leon which was awesome but spendy. Additionally they had the best shirley cocktail around!! Will be back soon and probably much more often, much love company bar!!!

Tuesday special. Smash burger, fries, and a beer.

The Pourhouse Uptown - Bathrooms with a shared washing area. A great way for people to meet... or to find out who's really nasty and doesn't wash their hands...

I'm torn on how to rate The Pourhouse, because we had a pretty terrible experience but it was later…read moreredeemed. It's got a great set up if you're there to watch Sunday football - good size, lots of TVs and a big projector, and a Sunday 2-4-1 happy hour that starts early. It got pretty slammed with young drunk kids by 8pm, though, and the bar tenders seemed to be more concerned with catering their regulars than us. I ordered the soup of the day (chicken wonton) but it came out like a shredded chicken mush. I had actually thought they brought me the wrong dish, but they didn't. It tasted... fine, but not what I was expecting nor wanted. I then got the ahi poke ball with "seared" tuna. Let me tell you - that tuna was not seared, but rather cooked to a rubbery crisp. And it was SUPER spicy. I can handle spicy, the spicier the better, but this bowl had my mouth on fire which I had no reason to expect since there's nothing spicy in the description on the menu. Needless to say, I was unable to finish the dish. The horrible experience we had until then was made much better when the bartenders realized I was unsatisfied with my dishes. They were both extremely apologetic, gave us 2 free drinks, and removed both the dishes from the bill - which they did not have to do because I did actually eat the food. They definitely redeemed the experience, and shame on me for not ordering bar food at a sports bar. I'm willing to give it 1 more chance.

A group of friends and I went here for our friend's birthday, only to have two women end up…read moreseriously ill by the time we left. The two friends each only had one drink from the bar and were left retching, struggling to stay upright. They were completely knocked out by one drink, which was bizarre, concerning, and entirely out of character. Both woke up this morning with no hangover and a complete memory of everything that happened. One friend was discussing with a coworker whose daughter and friends had a similar experience a couple weeks ago. That woman also knows of another group of young women who have experienced this. This is not normal. There had to have been something dangerous and suspicious going on for multiple women to have the same terrifying experience. I do not recommend any woman visiting here and I will not be returning ever.
