I was asked to house-sit by one of my friends the other day because his air conditioning units weren't working properly. One of them didn't work at all, while the other one worked but just wasn't blowing very cool air. I was off and he stocked the fridge for me so I gladly volunteered to sit around and wait for the repair guys to show up and fix his air conditioning issues. I honestly had no idea what the problems were with either unit nor did I care since I wasn't paying the bill but it WAS hot so I did want them to fix it! Two guys showed up and asked what the problems were. I showed them the "dead" one in the living room. They poked and prodded and cleaned it out. (It looked like a family of birds were living in there at some point!) After replacing a wire coming out of the unit and some sort of coolant liquid stuff they got it working properly. They mentioned that the unit had seen better days, but with proper cleaning of the inside at the end and start of the season he should get another year or two from it. The other unit, in the bedroom, just needed some of that coolant stuff and they cleaned out the inside but it wasn't really that bad. That one they said should last another five years at least. The best part was the fact that they gave me the bill, it was a hell of a lot less than my friend Kevin was expecting to pay. I called him and he asked me to lay it out for him and he'd pay me when he got home. (He did). I didn't think of it until he got home and asked me some questions about the service. That's when I realized that these two guys DIDN'T try to sell me new air conditioning units, they DIDN'T tell me there were major problems or repairs that had to be made and they DIDN'T rake us over the coals with the pricing. AND I failed to notice until Kevin mentioned it to me, they showed up on time (10am appointment) and were thorough and honest in their explanations of what they were doing. That's when I asked Kevin what the name of the company was. If I knew what their names were I mention the two guys but they were really nice for a change. I would certainly recommend them. read more

I am an HVAC contractor and needed tech support and also wanted to pay for Daikin Applied to assist with on site service. Although Teck support was excellent it took me 2.5 (+) hours and two days to get them on the phone. First I was given incorrect phone numbers from Daikin in NJ and while on hold the auto answer kept tell me about their new phone number which was the one I dialed and then after 45 minutes of being on hold the auto answer asked if I wanted to leave a message, so I did and but no one called back from that massage because I believe it was the wrong number. So I called and bitch (nicely) and was given another phone number. Using the third number I was given, I finally got Teck support on the phone and Dan was excellent. However, Dan could only offer Teck support. I was work on two 10 ton condensing units and want to pay for assisted service but Daikin considers these units commerical. These units were installed in a residential apartment and Daikin Applied told me that there service crews are not allowed to work in residential apartments but they are working on trying to change that. Very frustrating...... So now I understand that Daikin has at least three independent departments (Teck support, Daikin Applied and a sales department). About 2 weeks ago my office requested pricing on the centralized controller for the same project - and to date after repeated request for pricing, Daikin sales has NOT responded. The installers were prompt and knew their business very well. They worked hard under difficult circumstances as we chose the installation days without knowing it would be 90+ degrees.
