This small joint nestled in madera has to be the best mexican restaurant in this town. Compa Franks is by far the most authentic I've come across. In addition to the amazing Mexican cuisine they also serve Mariscos and Mexican sushi. Our first dining experience was amazing we ordered all the Fan Faves ,surf and turf style Fajitas , Auga chilies and a deep fried sushi roll. All of these dishes were cooked and prepared to perfection.The Staff was so friendly and the owner visited our table to make sure everything was to our liking including the tables around us. We read the yelp reviews and decided to try it for a late lunch on Saturday. It was a great decision. From the moment we arrived we were treaded wonderfully. The cook (maybe owner) talked to us about our selection and it was spot on. Great steak burritos covered in the best chili verde sauce. The red salsa for the chips was wonderful too. Its important for those of us who actually live in Madera to support our local businesses, espicially new ones. With that said, my kids and I arrived tonight on a Sunday evening and found the place to be a little busy. We took this as a good sign. We were seated right away and provided with our chips and salsa (very tasty) and drinks shortly there after. My daughter ordered a chicken dish with homemade tortillas which she really enjoyed. My son ordered a chicken enchillada which he described as "cheesy good". And I ordered a sushi roll which I was pleasantly surprised as it was very tasty. The side salads that came with the main dishes were a great addition! Con: our meals did not all come out at the same time, so probably need to work on that. And I was charged a fee to use my credit card. Otherwise a great night out at a local Madera spot. Will come again but need to remember to bring cash next time. read more

This place is a must visit! I don't consider many places worthy of a revisit. Compa Franks makes my revisit list though. I dined with co workers for lunch on a Wednesday. The restaurant is small with limited parking. Don't let that stop you! I ordered 3 Camron tacos and 1 Lengua taco. They all were generously portioned with protein and the ingredients were fresh. They were spicier than expected. What an AWESOME surprise!!! A coworker commented on his Tripa tacos and how they protein was deep fried and had a wonderful texture. I'll be trying those on my revisit. The staff was attentive and incredibly friendly. The cook/possible owner, came to the dining area to interact with the diners. That was a classy touch. This place is in a bit of an odd spot but worth finding. We were the first ones in and were greeted by a nice friendly female who seemed to be the front of the house by her self, mind you it was a bit early. We found a table and she brought our menus and answered our questions and took our order and retrieved our drinks. The place was in the small side with outdoor seating and we were very comfortable. My wife had the Chicken flautas and thought they were pretty good. I had the deep fried burrito and it was very good, I felt it needed cheese and sour cream to make it an excellent burrito. I liked their prices and they have a nice menu, you'll need help as the menu is mostly in Spanish. We will certainly go back and try some other dishes. read more
