When I mentioned the heat, the manager simply shrugged and explained that none of their locations have A/C in those areas. The hotel itself is extremely dated. Our room was standard-sized, felt small for California, and was overpriced for the quality and experience. The food was decent--the burger was pretty good and the sashimi was fresh. The restaurant wait staff were actually the saving grace: friendly, attentive and hospitable. Overall, Soho House seems to rely heavily on its name and exclusivity rather than delivering an elevated experience. There are better private clubs with better service, better facilities and far less attitude. Two stars. The restaurant staff earned the second one.

It was almost an audible "aaaahhhhh" that my brain whispered when we sat down at our roomy booth. We were there for brunch and the menu was wonderful for me, a lifelong vegetarian. There were multiple items I wanted to try but I usually stick to an appetizer, main, dessert, and beverage. I am not a big eater at one sitting. Between us, everything we ordered was superb. The descriptions were pretty familiar, but the tastes were elevated. And the presentations were unique too -- see my photos. Michael, our server, was efficient but warm and friendly too. That makes such a difference. From beginning to end he took care of us, checking occasionally to get our enthusiastic thumbs-up, and then bringing us sturdy containers and a roomy thick shopping bag to take home the leftovers. We stuffed ourselves but still took home half of the generous portions we were given. The tab was beyond reasonable too, especially for Beverly Hills! Nice music -- not too loud, just enough to give a cheerful vibe in the background; clean appointments; quality furnishings; giant spotless windows; pretty wallcoverings; comfortable seating -- everything was just right, Goldilocks-worthy. This is the kind of place to return to again and again. Garage parking at the complex for $15 was so easy, clean surroundings in the neighborhood with some famous retail nearby for browsing, just 40 minutes from home. IOW, perfect!

Egg sandwich is a must try. My go to for a weekend brunch! It comes with a healthy salad on the side with a light vinegarette dressing. I came in here deciding between the burger and rigatoni, but making this decision more difficult was the soup of the day (butternut squash), and one of their new items on the menu being Lomo Saltado with filet mignon ($48) or chicken ($38). Frank talked up the latter with beef, and I actually decided to go with this (but with chicken). Chicken consomme and popover with strawberry butter was brought out promptly. I've seen a cheese stick with previous photos on here; they do not provide them anymore, but I was happy with my regular favorites. I wasn't sure what to expect with this dish since I never heard of it before, but it was delicious. Basically, it's a Peruvian stir-fry with sliced meat, plum tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, rice (black forbidden rice in this case) and fries served with ketchup and aji verde. This was the first time I've left fries on my plate since I was enjoying pretty much everything else, and they were fun to dip into the aji verde. Lomo Saltado was just added to their menu as a regular item, so I hope it remains. This was a costly lunch, but I cleared that plate, and would do so again. Gratuity of 20% was already added, and the staff I interacted with deserved it. Although the location is right off the busy beauty/cosmetic department, the lively noise and activity did not disrupt the experience here in Mariposa. If this sounded too spicy/exotic for you, there are plenty of (mild) options to enjoy here at Mariposa such as salads, a lobster club (well, maybe not so simple), salmon, or rigatoni (which I almost went with) but am so glad I decided to try something new.
