Coming from Metro Detroit, which has the largest population of Arab Americans in the US, I was used to freshly baked flatbread everywhere, many baked in traditional tanoors. The selection around the Seattle area is not nearly as great, of course. Wholesome Food is a combination grocery store and bakery, with the entire right half of the store dedicated to bread. Behind the counter, we saw shelves upon shelves filled with freshly baked loaves. The employee (perhaps owner?) was super friendly and answered all our questions. Surprisingly Metro Detroit doesn't have many Persian bakeries (only a single one I know of) and I never visited. This means, of course, that I had to pick up the barbari! Wholesome Food also sells Turkish Flatbread, but I only wanted one loaf to start. Barbari ($4.99) - They sell two versions of this flatbread, one made with whole wheat and the other made with regular flour, which I went with. The bread is very thick for a flatbread. It actually feels pretty similar to focaccia in crumb, being open, chewy, and moist. It's baked dry rather than in oil, so it doesn't develop the fried crisp, but instead gets a nice crusty skin. It's baked with fragrant sesame and nigella seeds on top which gives a great flavor. (5/5) Wholesome Food sells some really good flatbread! I'll definitely be back for more in the future.

The veggies themselves are super fresh and it's a great variety. We've definitely had more variety when we were in CA since it's bigger farms but we still walked away with chard, Tokyo Bekana, 2 types of lettuce, delicious beets, herbs and more. Super happy to have access to the fresh veggies for the remainder of the season and having it be an interactive family outing and learning for our 2.5yo daughter. Stephanie and Claire are amazing and have such great customer service. Due to the heatwave we brought our fruit from the Redmond market in and in our rush, we forgot it there and by the time we got back, someone took it on accident. Stephanie called all the members with fruit pickups to see who mistakenly took it. To our surprise they found the person the day later and we're getting our fruit! (Was super sad since I couldn't find cherries and stone fruit of the same caliber at PCC yesterday).

The most interesting part is the conservation tent is. Super big and full of baby plants. Amazing! Just don't touch anything :) They grow a lot of flowers too. They have tomatoes in another tent. You can find them at various farmers markets throughout the state, but you can also now find them at the relatively new Woodinville farm. This smaller farm serves as a base of operations for Puget Sound. But it is a working farm, and the Tonnemaker grow many vegetables right here. Cucumbers (when they are in season) are also available as you pick here. The farm stand sells the produce from both Woodinville and Royal City. It's open a couple days of the week in the early season, then moves to a seven day a week schedule as the season progresses. Everything here is fresh and organic--and delicious! And the staff is helpful and friendly. You can't go wrong stopping at this farm and farm stand.
