This year I finally participated for the first time in the popular U-pick blueberries at the farm! They have a larger one at Mercer Slough too, but I heard it got more crowded there and decided to try Lake Larsen instead. I went on a Sunday morning before peak hours at around 10 am, so there wasn't a line or crowd. Price is 2.50 per lb and the minimum is 2 lb, so if you pick less than that you need to pay a flat rate of $5. I thought the price was pretty reasonable, even with the minimum 2lbs, you got a LOT of blueberries. It's a fun experience, being able to hand-pick fruit yourself and to take it home and either eat it, bake it, turn it into a jam, etc.. They also have a produce market later in the day where they sell fresh vegetables from the farm. The farm is well maintained, the area wasn't muddy when we arrived and it was pretty clean. They give you a pail to pick blueberries and then you can weigh it at the end once you're done. If you don't want your berries touching the bottom of the bucket, I'd recommend getting some bags or plastic grocery bags from home to put them in. You don't need gloves as the trees are around our height and don't have thorns or anything. Website recommended bringing bug repellant. There is a sign saying there are active wasps/bees nests; I didn't see any around, but it's probably better to be cautious and watch the ground as you walk. Don't know how it took me so long to finally visit the blueberry farm, but I'm definitely coming again every year! Super fun experience

You can find them at various farmers markets throughout the state, but you can also now find them at the relatively new Woodinville farm. This smaller farm serves as a base of operations for Puget Sound. But it is a working farm, and the Tonnemaker grow many vegetables right here. Cucumbers (when they are in season) are also available as you pick here. The farm stand sells the produce from both Woodinville and Royal City. It's open a couple days of the week in the early season, then moves to a seven day a week schedule as the season progresses. Everything here is fresh and organic--and delicious! And the staff is helpful and friendly. You can't go wrong stopping at this farm and farm stand.

It's right off the main road, easy to find, plenty of parking and very clean port a potty on site. The person working the stand was super helpful and informative. On the day of our visit they had U pick green beans and pickling cucumbers. My friend spent so much money on pickling cucumbers (I guess they are all water and very heavy), but I had a nice time picking enough green beans for the next nights dinner for a reasonable price. They also had already picked corn that you could take home for about 75 cents each. Both tasted delicious when cooked up the following day, my friend is making pickles so that will take some time. Next up is squash, closer to the end of October, I'm tempted to return to pick some spaghetti squash, they will also have acorn and pumpkins. Currently they have 4 sunflower mazes, we were in a bit of a hurry so we only did one, but it was a really nice photo opp and a good excuse to add in some more steps. On the day we visited there was a sale for 5$, but the price is normally 10$ for all 4, very reasonable. The maze we choose, since we didn't go to the website like we were encouraged to do, was just an out and back, but the other 3 might be more maze like. This was my first time in a sunflower field and very fun on a warm, sunny day. I did not realize there would be so many bees, but they left us alone. I hope to make it back here some day soon.

The process is that you get a box that they provide, go toward the field where another person will assign where you can pick and then you just start picking. Super easy. Once you finish, you bring it back, they weigh your strawberries and you pay. Another bonus is that they accept credit cards! I had a pretty fun time here. The strawberries are sweet and fresh and it was super yummy. I definitely would recommend coming here.

But when Alex and his crew came, I was so happy that he kept the UPick element from Root Connection and a lot of the produce was still the same which was wonderful. There were also great additions. The highlight in the summer was definitely the cherry tomatos. They were plentiful and so sweet, I can't go back to any other tomato again! Ecolibrium did so much to accommodate the members and they did amazing for their first run. They even heard our suggestions to switch the layout for pick ups where we can now directly pick from the bins. Kate and Helen are amazing and such a huge help at the front end of the store. They also stock from other local farmers. Their milk and chocolate milk is soooo good. I did the full share for summer and full share for winter. My suggestion for winter would be to decrease the price point and not have a UPick because it was challenging for me while pregnant to pick in the rain and I skipped a lot of UPick opportunities. I recall Root Connection didn't have a UPick either... maybe for the reason of bad weather. I personally might skip the winter share if the price point were the same. I also didn't think there was enough variety for the winter but what was produced was top quality and I never felt the weather had affected the quality of the harvest itself. I might be open to another winter share if there were some adjustments made but still overall a 5 star worthy place! If you're considering a CSA membership, please consider Ecolibrium. It might seem expensive but for the yield of what you're getting and the quality, I think it's worth it! They also produce for local restaurants too like Deru in Kirkland! There were a few results but we decided to come here first and boy did we make the right choice. Directions to here was straight forward and plenty of parking either on their lot or street parking. U-pick started at 9am and we got there around 9:30. There were already about 20-30 families there. We were wondering if there would still be ripe strawberries left since they have been opened the previous 3 days already as well and the lot wasn't very big. But within a short of amount of time, we have got some amazing strawberries! We tasted some and they were so delicious and sweet. Will visit again for sure!!! More than half of the field was covered in weeds to the point where you couldn't find the path between the strawberries. As a result, many of the berries were stepped on and plants trampled. There were some tall prickly weeds that can easily scratch you if you were not careful. While we understand some weeds are expected in an organic farm, but this was way out of control. We had to work really hard at finding good ripe berries amongst the camouflage. It took two adults over an hour to pick 5 lbs. We might try the other organic farm we drove by on the way to Bolles next year. Their field appeared to have been better taken cared of.

I have gotten a Christmas tree here every year for as long as I can remember. The owners are a…read morelocal family and are really nice. They have pre-cut trees here, but the big draw for a lot of people is the u cut lot. It used to be that u cut trees were quite a bit cheaper than precut trees, but now I think the prices are pretty much the same across the board wherever you go. Even though it's no longer a big money saver, I think a lot of people do u cut for the experience as it's fun and not something you can do in all climates/parts of the country. Plus, you get a guaranteed fresh tree. The farm added a reservation system a couple years back for ucuts (it's basically just an evite-type RSVP link on their website--free to sign up) that opens in the middle of November. This has really helped with crowd management as the area's population has grown so much over the years. The whole operation is down to an exact science: traffic controlled parking lot, scan your QR code to get a saw, find your tree, take the tractor flatbed back if you don't want to carry the tree all the way, trim/shake/bail (nominal fee for bailing), an employee will help you carry it to your vehicle if you want, and then pay in the shed. They hire an incredible number of seasonal employees for the couple weeks of tree season to keep things running smoothly. I didn't think of this til a couple years ago, but noticed a lot of people tip the person who helps carry your tree - they're mostly high schoolers so $5 is probably a bigger deal to them than it is to you. The checkout area carries some additional merchandise: tree stands, wreaths, some ornaments, etc. They also have free apple cider and candy canes for the kids (and adults) The farm also has a pumpkin patch and maybe some other activities in the fall. Anyways, this year was probably my last year getting a tree here for a while. My family has aged to a point that a tree no longer really makes sense, and I live somewhere that I have no space for a tree. I'm sad that I won't get to continue this annual tradition in the near future, but hopefully one day I'll be able to make it back

At 2pm there were so few trees available, we walked around in circles, in disbelief. We then considered a precut tree, but they were all huge! Well over 8 feet tall, so they wouldn't fit in our house. There was nothing festive or charming about the place -- just a parking nightmare and we left empty handed. At about $3.50 / lb, it's literally cheaper than picking up blueberries from the store. They have a small grass / gravel parking lot with ropes outlining the rows and plenty of buckets in different sizes, which were surprisingly very clean (rare for a U Pick tbh). We pulled up around 10:45 AM on opening weekend and were in the first batch of folks in, but it was pretty crowded by the time we left around 11:30. Their blueberries were honestly incredible, super plump and not bland at all, which is my biggest complaint about store bought bluebs. When you check out, they've got some extra goodies like blueberry syrup with no added sugar (super good, have been using them on my pancakes ever since) and the service is super sweet. They also have a little food stand selling blueberry snacks (lemonade, ice cream, muffins, etc.) and some shaded picnic tables. The lemonade was a skip, definitely just made from the mix and wayyyy too sweet, but the blueberry ice cream which I want to say is a collab with one of the local ice cream wholesalers is DELICIOUS. Part of me wants to keep this place a secret so it doesn't get more crowded, but it's a great little weekend activity. Will definitely be back next year.

My wife got a tip from her aesthetician that Mountainview you pick had great blueberries and at a great price $3.45 / pound. So we went out there in mid-August. They have a number of varieties of blueberries and what's available to pick changes throughout the season. They post on their website daily what's available that day. On the day we went it was the Concord blueberry. We'd never heard of them but they had a deep blueberry flavor for a small berry. At the entrance they have three sizes of buckets to use to pick your berries. We liked the smallest size buckets. If you pick berries there is $5 minimum you have to pay (per group as best we could tell) That works out to picking at least 1 1/2 pounds which is totally easy to do. It was easy and fun to pick them off the bushes and the staff was good at giving advice if it's your first time. The Concord blueberries turned out to be so good! We at them fresh, my wife made blueberry muffins and we made blueberry freezer jam! The flavor of the jam was incredibly deep and intense. It turned out so good that we went back the next week to pick more blueberries. We'll be back next year for sure!
