I love this local café!! There's plenty of seating, so it's perfect for students or anyone with a laptop. I ordered a cappuccino and a chocolate cookie I highly recommend them, they're amazing. The employees are friendly and attentive. If I lived in New Haven, I'd probably be here every day.

They have a nice selection of baked goods and drinks. Their muffins are delicious, always moist and fluffy. The coffee is great for an afternoon pick me up. Limited seating inside so more of a grab and go situation but the central location makes it a great spot to stop by! Staff were friendly and prepared our coffee quickly.

About time I stopped by common grounds. I've passed by so many times but never went in. It's a cute coffee shop with lots of dessert, coffee options, and seating. I had ordered a white chocolate mocha latte but it appeared to be a mocha latte, by the color. I asked if it was white chocolate and they confirmed. Still yummy, just more of a mocha flavor than white chocolate.

The inside is nicely decorated and clean. There are 2 tables by the window and also additional seating just around the bend. I ordered a large, unsweetened raspberry iced tea for $4. It was good and really large and service was friendly. They also offer some desserts and pastries. Seems like a go to neighborhood spot. I would give 3.5 stars.

I love good coffee. It's the first thing I look for in a new town when traveling. Now, on the rare occasion I find myself in Branford, I usually go to the Common Grounds on Main Street. Twice now I've tried to get a cup of coffee at 7:15 am at this new York Street location. And twice the location is locked shut, with no posted hours on the door or in any of the windows. According to the Shops at Yale site, the shop is open from 7am to 9 pm daily. Apparently not. I did have a cup of black coffee here late one afternoon and it was fine. New Haven is a great coffee town, this sort of fell in the middle. Not bad, hardly the best. The staff seemed nice enough. The pastry cases were well stacked. There were some very odd and uncomfortable looking tree stump stools in the front to sit on, and the side room seems unchanged from when it was Blue State Coffee last year. Wish I could say more...but it's tough when two out of three visits are marked by a locked door.

A solid place if you're in a rush and would like to get some caffeine. Their cup is ginormous! I got a regular but it feels like a Venti. The whole place smells really good with roasted coffee. They also have food or snacks that you can grab on the go. The workers are nice and efficient. They don't have a wide variety of drinks but I just like to go for a regular coffee because everything else isn't as great!

The inside is ethnically decorated, while they also have some soft Middle Eastern music playing in the background. This cafe also features a prayer rug, behind a private wall, this is a nice touch for certain believers, and I'm sure is appreciated by many. We got coffees and an assortment of sweet treats. I got the Creme Brew Latte. This is one of the best lattes I've had all season. It is lightly vanilla flavored, but ultra creamy and plush. I genuinely enjoyed each sip. We got a Date Cookie, Dubai Chocolate and a Tiramisu Tres Leches. The Date Cookie was soft, with date in the center and crushed pistachios on the outside. This was rich and delectable. The Dubai Chocolate wasn't a favorite, it had a strange crunchy texture and was very sweet. The Tiramisu Tres Leche was exactly what it sounds like. That super, super fluffy, creamy, dreamy Tres Leche that's combined with coffee and chocolate! This is addictively good! We had a great first experience at MOTW, I cannot wait to return!

So thankful it was in the quiet and quaint neighborhood of New Haven. Such a beautiful area. Very close to all the spots I had bookmarked. Cool coffee shop I gotta say. Spacious and clean. Just the actual vibe alone was relaxing. This is one of those locations where you can actually come sit and not be bothered. Few people inside were working on their laptops, some were just conversing with their friends. The barista was super friendly and worked fast. One thing I noticed and was wowed on was they serve wine as well. I mean how cool is that. Felt like I was at France for a minute, where the cafes serve coffee, tea and qwasonts during the day, and cocktails at night. Very chill. Can't thank them enough for how clean the bathroom was as well. All in all great coffee and service.

And now that I know, I can't wait to return. I met a friend for a morning meeting here on a rainy day and this was the perfect cozy atmosphere to enjoy espresso and friendship. We opted for a flat white and macchiato. The staff was extremely welcoming and made sure we understood that they make an authentic macchiato, not the commercialized version which gave us a chuckle! The macchiato was perfectly crafted as well. as the flat white, complete with gorgeous latte art on top. I was expecting great coffee, which they delivered. What surprised me was the spinach quiche. I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary, but I've basically been dreaming about this quiche since I've had it. Light and fluffy, it more closely resembles an egg bite/sous vide egg bite since it does not have a traditional quiche crust. However, it was fantastic with great spinach flavor and a buttery and cheesy finish. DROOL. The space is so inviting, clean, cozy with plenty of different options for seating; from intimate nooks, to upholstered chairs and couches, to plain wooden chairs, there's something for every comfort level. I cannot wait to come back here with my laptop to get some work done, and will definitely have more coffee dates here!

All of the food arrived cold, and our table was initially given the wrong order. After it had already been handled, the staff took it back and served it to another table, which raised serious concerns about hygiene. My cappuccino was also served cold, and the coffee itself was very acidic and not enjoyable. Instead of making a new one, they poured it into another cup and reheated it with the steaming wand--even though I had already taken a sip. That felt unsanitary and unprofessional. Overall, there were multiple issues that suggest poor food handling practices. I wouldn't return.
