Love this coffee spot especially since it's so close to my home. They have free wifi and adequate amount of seating for working and studying. The have an array of coffee selection as well as pastries to choose from. I can't wait for it to be warmer so I can sip my coffee outside on their benches! read more

My first visit to Common Grounds was awesome. I had the blueberry coffee cake and a small iced coffee (house blend ). I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee cake. The small iced coffee looks like a large size... no complaints...great service and awesome treats!!! read more

Excellent selection of coffee drinks and sweets. The variety of biscotti makes it hard to choose just one. Must try.

I tried Common Grounds because you can smell their coffee from far away. Drinks are good but I found it a little bit pricey for its location. read more

Cute, cozy coffee shop - much needed in Hamden. A nice change from the other coffee places in the area! I loved the iced latte and the berry muffin was delicious - not too sweet with a nice bit of tart. Definitely recommend this spot and honestly, I would rather spend $5 for a cup of coffee that supports local business than spend $5 at Starbucks (plus, I think this place tastes better too). read more

Love getting their non-fat lattes. They are always very nice and helpful. They have great coffee, much better than Starbucks. The muffins and yogurts are amazing. Haven't tried the biscotti yet but they're huuuuge. read more

A great little coffee shop and place to meet friends at the outside tables. Huge selection of pastries and cakes. Delicious.

Website shows they close at 10pm, walked in at 8:20 and was refused service because they were closed. RUDE Asian woman at counter. Other customers were served just before us. You get one chance to impress, you blew it. Shitty location, you won't make it. read more

So good !! Delicious assorted baked goods too. You can't go wrong w the chocolate chip cookie

Though the place has a nice interior, the coffee was not good at all. Similarly, there are no shades to pull down when the sun is blaring in your face. I came here to study, but left because of the above. read more

Greatest place to grab a great cup of coffee, tea, smoothie or hot chocolate. The bakery items are phenomenal and probably the best biscotti I have ever had. Cool environment inside or out. read more

Cute place. Ambiance is nice. Wife and I got americanos. I got a large my wife a medium and they were very weak. Very. I also got a biscotti. It looked good but tasted a bit fake, like lots of preservatives. Disappointed read more

Best coffee in town. Always fast and friendly service. Daily variety of new brews to try. The owner Wilson is super friendly.

Cute little coffee shop with great coffee, teas, and lattes. I visited their location in Branford a few times and when I saw on Yelp that there was a location in Hamden, I decided to check it out. I ordered a small latte and my fiance ordered a medium latte - both with almond milk. We also tried one of the cinnamon chocolate biscotti from their extensive biscotti case at the front counter. Order total = $15.95. That is pretty expensive for 2 lattes and a biscotti. Either we were overcharged or Common Grounds just has high prices. read more

I'd like to support this local place but the last 2 times I've been in there customers are all sitting there talking with masks off - even right by the counter. I'll go back whenever this pandemic is over. read more

I happened to be in Hamden recently and wanted coffee. I used to frequent the D&D in this plaza. When I saw Common Grounds I figured why not. So good!! I have returned a few times already. The biscotti are huge and delicious, the crumb cakes are moist and flavorful. And there's a good selection of coffee flavors, teas and smoothies to choose from. So glad I stopped in one day, and I have told friends about this place. read more

Great iced coffee. Great prices. I enjoy coming for their coffee. Would be even better if they had oat milk!

Love this place very private, Quiet and coffee is ok still looking for a good espresso like Cuban style no where ot be found yet but iis pretty American. not Spanish at all lol read more

Employees are knowledgeable and provide good service. A step up from Starbucks. The atmosphere is great for studying and having conversations. Complete opposite of the heavy foot traffic and noise of a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Cool setting and music. Highly recommend a stop; the coffee is strong and grabbing a lb of there fresh ground coffee. Great selection. read more

Stopped in today after having seen this place on yelp and then realized I was driving by it. Only got a biscotti but wow! Will be back to try more. Cute space, big selection, friendly staff. Recommend. read more

Walk in and you are immediately in the most amazing coffee shop ever. Whether it is the huge biscotti and pastries, or deliciously brewed coffee you will not be disappointed. And the sizes don't even compare to Dunkin! Love this place and want to swing by the Branford one as well. read more

What a terrible experience. I usually go to branford and was in the area shopping so decided to check this out... BAD IDEA! This was Saturday 12/23 at 5pm and the employee had NO CLUE what she was doing! I asked for a peppermint mocha latte- simple - she asked me how to make it!!! Then my friend wanted a iced mocha latte- again she was putting chocolate milk? She did not understand anything I was saying and the language barrier was impossible to over come! The owners/ manager need to hire employees that know how to make coffee or this place will go under!!! read more

I can't get behind a coffee shop that exclusively serves in disposable containers, especially espresso. Some of the baked items are ok, but in general everything seems overly sweet. Overall the place just feels too manufactured. The Branford location is slightly better, but not much. read more

Love the selection and atmosphere at this place. They have a great variety of coffee flavors and baked goods and it's very comfortable and relaxing inside. The service was extremely friendly. I really hope it can succeed in an easy to miss location in a town with many "chain" coffee spots. The first spot I have been to in Hamden that might steal me from Starbucks. read more

This is a great local coffee shop with incredibly friendly service. I'm always impressed by the variety of coffee offered on a daily basis. A big plus is that they have gluten free baked items available. read more

Was there today for coffee and pastry with two friends, one in a wheelchair. Some of the outdoor seating is accessible in a chair. They have a tempting selection of pastries (the tiramisu was great!), coffees and other drinks. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant. I'll return soon! read more

Cozy little place. Coffee is not bad. Their beans are everywhere and it smells so good. They try to keep the place clean. In general, good place to go. Reading all the reviews makes me feel like going to Branford branch. read more

Love this coffee shop! The biscottis are so addicting! I definitely have a sweet teeth for their almond joy and salted caramel biscottis!! I was very impressed with their quality iced coffee! They gave you so much for a low price! I got a small iced coffee equivalent to a medium size at dunkin for only 2.15! I was stunned because I am a coffee phantic and need to pay 4-5$ for a medium cold brew because the regular coffee at dunkin isn't strong enough for me. The coffee shop also has very clean and beautiful wood tables! So great! read more

Great first experience! The shop has a clean, cute atmosphere. I picked up a small NFL (non fat latte) and was impressed by how smooth the coffee was. Haven't had a cup this good in a long time! Not to mention, the coffee was super affordable and my small seemed huge! The pastry selection is also worth checking out. I couldn't resist a peanut butter mousse brownie :) if you're curious about service, I actually left my keys on their counter without knowing it, and the barista literally chased me down into the next store to make sure I had my keys! Good people, good coffee. Will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Such a cute little coffee shop! Today was my first time coming here, they have a large menu with many flavors of coffee, teas and hot chocolates. They have MASSIVE biscotti and a case filled with a variety of sweets- cakes, cannolis, scones and muffins. I gave it 4 stars because I couldn't find a menu online (I checked the website and Facebook), I had to take a picture in store and then call my coworkers to see what everyone wanted. So, I included that picture. Since it was my first time there I wasn't really sure what to order and it would have been nice if I was welcomed a little warmer. They have a selection of whole bean coffees in the back that you can grind and buy per pound. I am a local so I'm sure that I will be back soon to try more of their flavors- today I got the smores and it was very tasty. It tastes like a medium roast so it was just right for me. I really wish that they had a rewards program for frequent customers. read more

What a great feel to this little coffee shop! Sweet smiles every day from the lady behind the counter, the chill music playing in the background, comfortable seating inside and out, and the delicious smell of fresh brewed coffee (obviously). It all comes together to leave me smiling every time I stop by. You can buy their whole beans separately, and their daily custom flavors are always a fun change (although they all seem to taste pretty similar if you get them enough - still great though). Service is fast and their espresso drinks have been my new favorites! Is it the best coffee I've ever had, well...no, BUT it is excellent, reliable coffee and my daily "go-to" within Hamden! Stop by and see for yourself! read more

Great coffee pastries and 12 different kinds of biscotti! A casual hangout ! Highly recommended

This is the best coffee I have had in a LONG time. The gluten free banana bread muffin is delicious! The staff is so very friendly. I love the atmosphere! read more

Cool atmosphere and freshly roasted, fantastic coffee to power your day. The pastries looked delish, but sadly I cannot recommend any due to gluten and egg allergies. If their coffee is any indication though, I would assume that the pastries are fresh and delicious. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it! There was a wide array of coffee flavors and specialty coffee, and the pastries all looked delicious (I can vouch for the apple coffee cake, which was amazing). I also loved the ambiance--quintessential coffee house decor, acoustic music playing in the background, and couches for chatting and tables for reading or getting a little bit of work done. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Wayyyy better vibe than the other coffee "shops" down the street. Friendly employees, no long lines, good coffee, and delicious desserts!

Perfect coffee and sweets! Very friendly staff, clean and pleasant place. Large variety of coffees and cookies and cakes. Comfortable place to sit and enjoy coffee. read more

I like the coffee, it is good - but just the plain coffee. They burn the non-dairy milks, so do not order an almond or soymilk latte. The atmosphere is awful. They play music that's off the pop charts at louder than necessary volumes. Definitely not a "coffee shop" vibe. They could benefit from not playing the top 10 hits club remix at a high volume on a Sunday morning, maybe make it more of a warm, welcoming environment. read more
