Iced Leonardo DiCaprio
Zachary F.

Stopped in last weekend for a coffee after doing some shopping and it was pretty good! Not too busy midday on Sunday so was the perfect time. Got the Leonardo DiCaprio iced latte (vanilla and honey). Overall was pretty good, had just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. Would definitely come back when in the area.

Common Grounds is a cool, divey place where you can relax and play some games. The decorum is definitely on the more rustic/vintage side. They have some retro coin slot arcade games (coins not included), a pool table, an old piano, and a chess board. There's many things you can do here to unwind! There's also very comfortable couch seating where you can sit, relax and study/work. Along with their coffee selections, they also have a small beer selection as well. Sometimes people like to smoke outside and that smell can travel inside a little.

Iced americano and Marlon Brando

So on the list of coffee places to try in Greensboro this is definitely a spot to try. It is such a cute spot. As we pulled up I told my husband I had to take a picture as I loved the outside of the shop they had a small outside seating area. Once inside it's a quirky shop with a bunch of different art work, definitely a vibe. Their menu was named after a bunch of actors while they also had regular coffee. I ordered the Marlon Brando it was super delicious my husband had an iced americano as he likes his coffee black. We had an appointment in 30 minutes and just sat in the cafe and enjoyed our drinks and the vibe. They offer free wifi. The guy behind the counter was super friendly. Definitely will be coming back here when we are in the area.

A fantastic local coffee shop, walking distance from UNCG. The staff are friendly, the drinks are great, and they carry baked goods from local bakeries supporting fellow small businesses. I got a pistachio latte with oat milk. Bonus, they use 1883 Maison Routin brand syrups!

Super cute spot!! Check out the photos for cuteness and cozy vibes. The coffee was really good! I'd love to try all of their specialties! The food all looked yummy, but I didn't get any this time. The only downsides to this place is the parking and the temperature inside. It was super hot in there! Not sure if maybe their air went out? As far as parking goes, there's just not much of it, and it's awkward trying to back out when you leave. Otherwise, 5 stars! Great place to study!

Common Grounds is one of my favorite local coffee shops in Greensboro. Prior to moving to Lindley Park I would drive here to get coffee. I love living within walking distance to a great coffee shop. The baristas are always nice and the coffee is delicious! Totally worth it even if you live in another of Greensboro. Pro tip: be sure to check out open mic night every Thursday at 7!

Iced Matcha Latte (with Coconut!)

For my first official visit to Common Grounds, I give a thumbs up! This specific location was adorable! The barista was so kind and courteous. She helped me to narrow down my decision and enhance my order by making personal recommendations! I ended up adding coconut flavoring to my iced Matcha Latte and it was amazingly refreshing. I also had to try a blueberry lemon loaf cake (not pictured)...it was delicious and devoured quickly! This is the perfect quaint coffee shop vibe with a vintage feel. I'll be back for sure!

Marlon Brando Latte on ice. They have celebrity names for some coffee drinks.

Nice cafe (coffee, beer and pastries) that has a nice atmosphere. They have events like karaoke and open mic. You can also reserve events there. I ordered the Marlon Brando latte on ice. It was delicious. They have outside seating, indoor games and books. I was probably the oldest person there as this is in UNCG area. I was remembering when Blind Tiger was there and it looks like Walkers moved next door. Suds and Duds is still there.

Such a neat little coffee shop located right beside Retos Kitchen and across the street from sticks and stones. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and they were BUSY. There was also a DJ setting up to play some music. I ordered the Robert Downey Jr and it was GREAT. I love that each drink is named for a different celebrity. They also had Camino bakery treats for sale. It looks like this spot is used a lot for meeting of large groups. Especially college kids doing group projects. We didn't have a place to sit while waiting for our coffee but no biggie. It just made sense that they opened a second common grounds location for how busy they seem to stay. Will definitely be back for more delicious coffee!

This neighborhood shop has the vibe, the service and the community of a classic coffee shop. I love it! From the music to the drinks, I always feel a warm welcome and enjoy my favorite drink. My favorite is the Robert Downey Jr. with oat milk. Highly recommend!

Good snacks and drinks with a unique vibe. Close to a lot. We had the Bill Murray and Jennifer Lawrence and loved it, plus some coffee cake.

After attending yoga class across the street, I was happy to look across the way and see this new coffee shop! This is the second location for this business. I visited on the third day of business, and you could definitely not tell this was a new location! It was running like a well oiled machine. I will have to say that this is the best oatmeal chai latte I have had in the Triad so far! This location is open late, which is great, because many coffee shops are not. They had a stage area in the front, so I am looking forward to seeing what will be offered in that space. They also serve beer so it's a great spot for a late night evening as well. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back!

A movie buff's coffee dream! Common Grounds is a creative, eclectic coffee shop that was abuzz this Sunday afternoon. The decor is moody and funky, with a giant Leonardo DiCaprio mural. You'll find a drink named after him as well! Their signature latte flavor combinations are named after some of cinema's most notable actors like Marlon Brando, Charlie Chaplin, and Robin Williams! I really love when places have a distinct theme. It just makes it fun! There were a ton of people sitting around working, and this definitely seems like a place where you could get your creative juices flowing (as suggested by the graffiti message on the wall: "creativity is contagious, pass it on." I ordered the Marlon Brando which was a latte with white chocolate and caramel. My friend got the Robert Downey Jr. which was dark chocolate, caramel and salt and we both enjoyed! They also have delicious baked goods from Black Magnolia bakery! My only complaint is there's not a lot of space to wait for your drink if they're busy. We were kind of standing by the door constantly having to move out of the way since it was a bit cramped but that's not really to the fault of the establishment. Overall, this is a neat place to come check out!

The downstairs area is the main music hall, with a legit stage, a large bar, and plenty of open room. The second level features a cocktail and whiskey bar, along with a separate lounge style room filled with leather couches and chairs. The third and fourth levels both offer outdoor space, with the third floor having its own bar and the fourth providing additional seating and city views. It's a great mix of spaces for pretty much anyone. The music really stole the show this evening. I arrived early and snapped a few photos before the crowd rolled in. Dear Sister rocked tonight. What an excellent cover band! I'll be seeing them often whenever they roll into town. The only thing holding this from being a 5 star night was the service. It was decent but noticeably slow even before the crowd showed up. Once things got busy, it became very hard to grab a drink or get anyone's attention, which is typical for a packed place but still worth noting. Overall, this is a super fun spot with great music and tons of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. I'll definitely be back for more live shows or to hang out with family and friends on a nice day up on the rooftop areas.

Not sure I'll be rushing back though

We were seated promptly and had a very attentive waitress. They had just launched their spring menu and I feel that it had a good amount of pairings and different offerings. I was excited about the drink menu, but I felt let down by my drink. It was supposed to be a apple butter old-fashioned but I didn't taste any apple. That was a bummer the food however was amazing. I got the breakfast plate with grits, eggs, Home fries, a biscuit, and catfish. The portion size was huge. It could have easily been split with two people. I was thinking it would be a full piece of catfish, but it was more like catfish nuggets. It was well seasoned and flavorful. The best thing on the plate was the grits. They were amazing. They were super creamy, seasoned, velvety, and just great-10/10. They do offer tours of the property and we didn't get one because of time, but I would definitely love to see it in its entirety. The staff was great and I would definitely come again.

Our reservation was for 10:00 AM, which was when the restaurant opened, but when we arrived, we were told they were still getting ready. We were eventually seated, but then told the food still was not ready. Finally, around 10:30, we were told the buffet was ready. The food was just okay, and overall, I wasn't that impressed. Maybe the experience would have been different on a regular day with their normal brunch menu, but the Mother's Day buffet was somewhat disappointing. On the positive side, everyone we interacted with was very friendly, and Magnolia House itself is historic. There was something special about dining in a place knowing its history and knowing that so many great artists had stayed there. Overall, it was somewhat disappointing, but I am still glad I went.

I was on a walk this morning and I noticed that I was near Borough Coffee. I had been wanting to…read morecheck out this place for quite sometime now, I just never had the time to do it. But today was the day! As soon as you show up, you know this isn't your typical coffee shop. The outside of the place looks like it could be an Inn in the neighborhood (which who knows maybe it was at one point.) The vibe inside gives off quiet workspace/library, and definitely gives off the lobby of an Inn (think Gilmore Girls.) There was some people scattered around but I didn't take a deep look inside since I was just passing by. I ordered my ice vanilla latte. The first thing I remember realizing was that it wasn't very sweet. Which is not a bad thing, sometimes they can be made really sweet other times they can be not so sweet. This latte was in the middle. I could taste the creaminess from the oat milk too. I would definitely check this place out again and try out some of their other drinks that they offer. I would even like to stay in and work inside and see more of the environment inside.

Borough Coffee is in an absolutely gorgeous building -- previously a B&B. The various 1st floor…read morerooms have cozy seating scattered throughout, and it seems like it would be a fantastic place to work or study. Though most seats were filled when I visited, it was super quiet, like a library. I felt a little uncomfortable having a conversation, afraid of bothering others. I'm not sure if it's always that quiet or not. Street parking is somewhat limited, but there is a church with a parking lot just across the street. That said, I visited on Easter, so the church lot was full, but we were still able to find a spot to parallel park at the end of the street. They serve a decent variety of coffee and other drinks, but have a limited food/pastry menu. I got an iced lavender vanilla latte with oat milk, which is something I order at a lot of places. Sometimes, the lavender tastes so artificial it reminds me of eating soap -- I think certain brands of syrup taste better than others. That was not the case here. I don't know what brand they use, but it must be one of the better ones, because it tasted mild and delicious. Both lavender and vanilla came through. The espresso was smooth and not bitter. The ratios of everything were great as well -- not too much oat milk but not too little -- the perfect latte.
