Came across this joint on our drive home from Idyllwild headed toward San Diego. Initially we planned to just stop for a coffee, but we could not resist a try at the offered breakfast items! The breakfast pie and the chicken little French toast sandwich were both delicious! The staff here were also incredibly nice and even warmed up their indoor dining room for us! Drove up the mountain from palm springs just to try this place and it was so worth it. I got the Toddwhich and my husband got the Monte Cristomg (both with tater tots) and we split them, they were both really good! Toddwhich was my favorite. We also ordered a couple of coffees, a honey vanilla latte and a almond rocha mocha (my favorite). So overall the food was great and the customer service was very pleasant. We just pulled out of the lot and we already cant wait for our next trip. read more

New to the area and have been wanting to try this place. All I can say is YUMMY! We tried their Toddwich and it's sooo good! The horseradish mayo adds just a bit of tang to put this breakfast sandwich over the edge. I LOVE Common Grounds. I haven't had anything yet that wasn't worth having again, or that I wouldn't recommend. They have great burgers and breakfast sandwiches and home made potato wedges. It's just ALL so good. They have 'boom boom' sauce which is a house-made horseradish, and is PERFECT on their stacked high roast beef sandwich! Personally I love their mango lemonade, but the 'pink ink' is a close second. Or on those days I could use a little more kick, I go for a double 20oz mocha. I have been to Common Grounds several times now. The first trip I ordered the sausage breakfast pie. This is kind of like quiche in a pie crust. The crust was absolutely amazing. I am a throw away the crust kind of guy usually but let me tell you. This "pie crust" was more like a pastry than a pie crust. Warm, flaky and not dry tasting. I can't really say moist because that would convey a soggy crust. This was moist but still firm and flaky! Amazing, I am talking about crust here. When was the last time you were inspired to describe so thoroughly a pie crust. Well that is just how good it was. On to the filling. It was dense. A small price was incredibly filling. It was egg with bacon, garlic maybe onion and mushrooms, cheese possibly? An awesome medley of complimentarian flavors. I am not sure what is in it but I can tell you this, it pairs wonderfully with that world class pie crust we spoke of previously. Second trip. I had heard about the birth of a legend, the Toddwich! I had to have one. I hurried over late in the afternoon but I got there a little after closing. They were battoning down the hatches when I arrived. I spoke with Robyn about how sad I was to have missed my chance at the Toddwich that day. I had been so excited and was more than a little hungry too. She went and got me a breakfast square and just gave it to me free. How awesome. They had been closed long enough that it was already cold in the refrigerator. She instructed me to microwave it for about 40 seconds. About 8 minutes and 40 seconds later I was home with a hot breakfast square in hand. I admit, I wasn't that excited because this was a meatless breakfast square. Then I tasted, and I saw that it was GOOD! How was this possible? No meat but good? It was a miracle of biblical proportions I tell you. I could have sworn there was sausage in this thing. I think they have some kind of fairy dust they're sprinkling all over the stuff there. It's all amazing! Third trip. THE TODDWICH!!! Finally the day had arrived. I was about to find out if this thing truly was the birth of a legend. It took about 7 minutes, 7 Minutes of excitement the likes of which only a swarm of ants in your pants could cause. Anticipation. The Todd witch feels about 3 lb. It is a chicken fried steak sandwich with horseradish mayonnaise a little bit of gravy some breakfast potatoes and two eggs. This fresh out your Mama's Kitchen kind of meal was prepared in 7 minutes and let me tell you it was so good I would gladly wait 30 or 40 minutes for one. I had to rest and eat it in two settings. Now that's saying something, I'm six foot two 260 lb I never have a problem finishing a sandwich. The bread was very fresh and soft period while it had gravy horseradish mayonnaise and eggs on it it wasn't soggy it had just the perfect amount of moisture to it soaked wonderfully into the bread. This is a hand-held meal. The only downside to trip number 3 was noticing that there's now a steak sandwich on the menu. New anticipation begin to build immediately after finishing the Toddwich. I have to tell you, I really got the feeling that this business of theirs was more about serving people and sharing the joys of great food and drink then is about making money. A final comment. There are so many things on this menu and it is always changing that anybody should be able to find something that they absolutely love. read more

This place is soooooooo good. We got the Swiss and mushroom burger, wedge fries, onion rings, and a custom '3egg omelet sandwich on gluten free bread' they were happy to accommodate for a vegetarian member of our group. The Artisan Salad is excellent with fresh gourmet greens. Plus an awesome coconut mocha coffee. The staff are really friendly. Several of our group were skeptical about eating in Anza, but they realized after our experience here that some really talented craft cooks are breaking ground in rural California. Have heard that Common Grounds is GREAT, and today I finally was able to stop by. Just needed a breakfast "snack", so ordered a cinnamon roll and coffee. Wow! Fantastic cinnamon roll: perfect size, excellent amount of cinnamon (I love cinnamon!) and the icing was just right. Great coffee to go along with the roll. I'm looking forward to lunch there soon. Basically put, Common Grounds Coffee has great food, but I wouldn't recommend it for coffee and be prepared for a wait time beyond normal drive thru times. Details: The price for food is higher than what you'd see at most drive-thru locations, but the deliciousness is also better as well, so things balanced out. Food is a 5/5. As far as the coffee, it essentially tasted like basic coffee at a premium price. I ordered a Mocha with Vanilla and it just tasted a bit plain with flavoring powder sprinkled in. Coffee was a 1/5. The service was mixed, unfortunately. The people were friendly, but the wait was 15 minutes, they're was a mix up on my order, and they forgot to make my food. read more

They have great clam chowder, BLTs, burgers..and after this holiday season I learned that I am addicted to their pumpkin creme pie. I liked the blt sandwich just wish for the price I got more bacon more Lettuce and more tomatoes! Friendly service. I ordered almond milk latte but they gave me regular milk. They caught the mistake before giving me the drink but I said it was ok because I needed to go. They refunded me the difference so I tipped them the dollar in hopes of them getting it right the first time next time :) I'll keep coming back and try more things on the menu. It's good food just a little pricey. I don't mind paying more if the food is up to par. It's a new place so hopefully they will see my review and take this into account. Thank you . read more

Doug L was told when he was there and expressed concern about gloves at the window, that washing hands in between every single order is safer than wearing gloves, as the gloves hold onto bacteria & give the wearer a false sense of cleanliness. Common Grounds is upholding every health and safety precaution that they possibly can, including Lysoling the window, order screen & counters in between orders. Their dining area is closed, and they ask people to remain in their vehicles until served. If Doug L truly had a concern that a facility is putting the public safety at risk, perhaps he should have skipped this Yelp review and called the Health Department, as they inspect when they receive complaints. FYI, Common Grounds has always received the highest marks for health and safety. They are also helping their local community through this pandemic by offering scarce products at cost (no markup or charge for administrating orders) to be sure their community has what they need. Just went to Common Grounds for coffee and breakfast. Ordered regular coffee and breakfast pie with turkey sausage. Wow! This was just baked and delicious! Will definitely be back. We moed to this area almost three (3) years ago, and have been eating at Common Grounds ever since. The food and th service are both outstanding, and, to be perfectly honest, the recent negative review posted about Common Grounds is what caused me to post this review in rebuttle. I do not know if that poster had an axe to grind or simply did not understand what personally prepared, good-quality food and sanitary practices is, but whatever the case, the review and the reviewer were dead WRONG! The food is very good, the people phenonminol, and the cleanliness and food preparation is top notch: following the absolute best food preparation's practices currently available -- which is saying quite a bit in this era of national (international) doom, gloom and calamity. I am immuno-compromised due to an organ transplant, and I would NEVER take the slightest risk over something as serious as food preparation practices: and the people at Common Grounds do NOT compromise with anyof that. You can trust the high quality food, and the equally high quality food practices. read more

Common Grounds has amazing coffee and, from what I've seen (although I haven't personally tried them yet), great sandwiches. My favorite is the S'mores expresso, a heavenly blend of coffee, chocolate, and marshmallows. They are extremely helpful about making any changes you request and have a wide variety of coffees and food choices. If you don't want to wait, you can call in your order ahead of time. They're friendly, with a fabulous menu; a great addition to Anza! read more
