Thankfully, I found Granite Lock Co, Inc. They're a family owned and run business. I was just able to get in on their Saturday hours-they close at 12 pm--with like 20 seconds to spare. Walking into this orderly and clean shop was a treat. As a woman of a certain age, it brought back memories of when locksmiths as well as shoe repair shops were plentiful. Mr. Roy, once I explained my issue, had me set to rights in no time. My fob was replaced with a new shell and new key was cut in a jiffy. I explained my doorknob/lock issue and Andre asked when was I available for him to stop by. I said whenever, and he said he'd arrive within the hour, which he did. He diagnosed the issue (I needed to replace the knob while keeping the lock intact for our key), showed me a better quality knob he had in his vehicle, priced it out for me to okay, and had the work done in 45 minutes. Well Ace calls me next day and tells me he was able to make a key from existing lock and all set in less than 24 hours...vs item sitting at other lock place for at least 6 months or more until I asked about and told me to pick it up.... I had Ace come to my home a couple of months ago to re-key two doorknobs. After they left, one of…read morethe doorknobs would catch occasionally and not open even though it wasn't locked. I lived with it for a while as it would open after jiggling it a little. Recently, it got worse, so I called Ace to come and look at it. When the tech got here, he said they "don't fix that" but he could replace it the doorknob. He was here for maybe a half hour total and installed a new $40 doorknob. I was charged $307 dollars. Apparently, I was charged $90 just for the guy to drive here and $175/hr (one our minimum). I found this to be absolutely outrageous, especially given the fact that I didn't have a problem until Ace re-keyed my locks. I will never use them again and I strongly suggest that you don't either. It's no wonder people can't afford to live when business screw people like this. Disgusting.
