It can be intimidating to get into comics, and choosing the right comics shop can make all the difference. For me, getting into comics was not just trying different comics, but also the different comic shops in my area. Even though it's just a bit out of my way, I ended up choosing Comics Conspiracy because they had my ideal experience. When I was new, I just wanted to walk in, and pick out a few titles to read to figure what I liked. Some other shops I frequented were way too pushy to turn you into a subscriber and oftentimes did not have the titles I wanted to read, which were major turnoffs to me as a new reader. Ryan and co. were always friendly and helpful as they answered my comics questions while I was figuring out what I wanted. I also liked that they separate their recent issues wall between Marvel and DC. I'm mostly interested in DC titles so this made picking out issues I wanted much easier. When I finally took the plunge and became a subscriber, the customer service has continued to be top notch. They've always been accommodating to my requests, whether it's swapping out a cover or saving an issue I forgot to order. I value communication and transparency, and they have both in spades if an issue arises. They were also nominated for an Eisner Award in 2019, which is pretty awesome! The only real con to this store is its back issue selection. The space is slightly smaller so it's not as extensive as you'd hope. They will generally have major titles, but if you like sifting through the bargain bin or are looking for something other than superheroes/Star Wars, then it's a little meh. However, they do have an online store where you can browse their back issues so make sure to check there first. Overall, I highly recommend Comics Conspiracy whether you are new to comics or a veteran. The experience is absolutely top notch! read more

I am upping this place by a star because they have yet to let me down. I was backed up again in my Transformers comics and needed to get a bunch of back issues that were sold out in the closer stores and these guys really pulled through. I also bought the Joss Whedon Firefly book, "Those left behind" here for a good price and they have a lot of other Whedonesque books here too. They were also were tuned into 89.7 KFJC on the radio and that was a big plus in my book. read more

It's a very small, quaint shop with new and old stuff. We were in here for a few minutes before dinner at the nearby Thai place, but I was able to find some classic comic books, collectibles, and some new stuff (like Neil Gaiman & Fables) The owner is a friendly sort of fellow! So I am doing my little hunt for those illusive back issues (no pun intended, sorry Illusive!), and this was the last place within a 10 - 15 mile radius of Santa Clara. The Walking Dead and Aliens comic books are hard to find (if u have any please message me, i will do anything for those books. I am very weary looking.) From the outside and the shopping center, does not look like much ( I think I bought beer a couple of doors down, tecate was really cheap that day.) I walk in and immediately asked what I was looking for. No one else was in except the owner (or manager, never caught his name) and a female clerk. I told them what I was looking for. Showed me where to find them, and even found some Aliens (1st printing mind you). No one else was in the place but I never hold that against a book shop, came at a weird time I guess. They never stopped talking to me while I was looking. I love the layout, and how much variety they had! The guy (short hair with a green lantern tshirt (might be wrong on that)) gave me a good deal with the 2 back issues, even offered a 50 book for just a little in addition to the books I had. But said no (damn lay off makes me run low), but I will be back. He even mentioned how he had extra copies of the Walking Dead early issues, and would bring them in to sell. Now that is customer service! Its not the closest comic shop to me (cute female clerk suggested also trying the comic shop in downtown Livermore, too far but thank you), but I will be back. I have to give it five stars, I was a small part of that place for 11 years. I will always be thankful to Ken Fetty for bringing me in when he owned the store. Ryan Higginsm the new owner, if you can call years of ownership under his belt new, is a great guy. I had a great time helping him out and if and when I get a new kidney, I hope to be back there, dealing with Comics. The place is a good size, there are bigger shops and there are smaller shops, but Conspiracy is the best. Ryan tries to get a copy of everything that comes down the pipe, though now it's a bit harder than it's ever been, what with all the titles being put out every month. The Saver program he has is one of the best. You'll have to ask what the current situation ism it nay have changed since I was there. I'll just say go there and see how it fits you and your collecting needs. read more

I've been gravitating to this store recently for two reasons. 1. Open up a pull list and you get 10% off your issues, even (at least in my experience so far) when you just decide to pick up another one off the wall one day. And, if you start to get disheartened or broke, or are just starting off small, there's no minimum number of series you have to pull to get this discount. Also, bags and boards are free too. 2. A very large selection of used trade paperbacks! Yes, Amazon has spoiled me and I am one of those people store owners probably hate as I will pretty much never buy a trade paperback (aka "graphic novel") for full price. But with used TPBs you can get sub-Amazon prices, sometimes on really recent stuff too! A couple other stores have one or two used trades, but I've never seen anything like this. It's already been mentioned that this place is a bit small, and I have no idea how it stacks up in terms of overall selection as I've not really looked at the full price back issues or trades. Service is definitely good, though. read more

Ryan is very friendly and helpful and does a good job with giving out recommendations. I always feel welcome to ask questions without feeling like a burden or like I am bothering them. If I change my mind and want to cancel a preorder, or decide not to buy something, the staff is super friendly about it and it relieves the anxiety that I have. Comics Conspiracy has recently become our go-to place for comics. I may have just gotten my JD and am supposed to be a serious person and all, but I'm a fairly recent comic convert. The store is a great place to feed this newly discovered obsession and empty my wallet. Anyway, I first learned about this store through the Geekbox and Comics Conspiracy podcasts (both of which are awesome and I highly recommend). There's a very good selection of single issues, but I tend to prefer trades and they have a ton of those as well. It's a pretty small store, but I always manage to find what I'm looking for. We stopped by for Free Comic Book day this year and they managed to work around the craazy crowd. Ryan, the owner, is pretty awesome and is always helpful and is able to answer any questions we tend to throw at him. He and Brock always tend to be willing to chat too. All in all, great place to stop by and shop for comics. I highly recommend it. read more

They have great selection of new books, and a lot of those chase covers people are after. They have one of the best selections of Trades (new AND used) in the area, as well as a solid selection of back issues. Some of their bin stuff seems way under-priced, and they have a lot of it. Those looking to complete a collection should definitely check it out. They also bundle some of their back issues together and give a price break, so you can find some good collections that way. The store is nice and clean. Parking in the lot can be a little tough if you go during peak lunch hours, but still worth it. Honestly, I think it's the carpet that makes this place! Think about it, you're usually squatting to look for a treasured book and sit on the floor to go through the pages. Most shops don't have that luxury. And the overall vibe of this location is pretty chill compared to other places I've been to. The drive is a bit out of the way for me, but it's well worth it. They have numerous deals throughout the year and almost everything becomes on sale. I go crazy for the $1 back issue deal and spend my time on the floor searching through their extensive collection. It's a small shop but well stocked. The staff are extremely friendly and are always willing to chat for a bit. I feel bad for my regular comic shop since I find myself at this shop more often haha. read more

What can I say about Comics Conspiracy!? Once Upon a Time, I had collected comic books from like 7th grade into High School (back in the 80's), only to stop my Sophomore year when the "party years" began and all of my money went to booze, my car and sometimes drugs instead of comics... I then sold off my collection while in college (Late 80's to early 90's) to help pay for rent, booze and maybe a little food in there somewhere too. Skip ahead to 1998. I was at the Berryessa Flea Market and I came across a Tomb Raider comic book and loving the game series, I picked it up to see if it was interesting. Little did I know that the addiction would begin anew much more rapaciously than before though. I loved the book and I began to seek out comic book stores to find the rest of the Tomb Raider comic series. In my searches, I began to organize and map out all of the South Bay comic book stores that I had visited and had yet to visit. During this hunt for more Tomb Raider comics, I saw some old friends on the New Release wall and I began to thumb through these as well. now I was becoming interested in more than the Tomb Raider comics alone... The true addiction took hold and off i went, collecting all of my old titles and a bunch of new ones as well in addition to Tomb Raider. I had settled on one store that I liked close by to my house over near Meridian and Hamilton, but he closed his doors about a year after I had found him. I searched around and I discovered another comic book store near a college where I began to frequent them for a couple years, until I had moved further away from them and the owner at the time was not giving me all of the signed or rare covers that I had been ordering. Enter Comics Conspiracy... I worked near Comics Conspiracy and I began to frequent them and set up a savers account and the rest is history! I have been ULTIMATELY happiest with them over all and they have always treated me right. All except for one time when I was supposed to get the Martian Manhunter JL statue and the owner at the time said that they had never gotten it in and that he did not know that i wanted it. Yeah, Yeah, I know, holding grudges are bad, but that statue is worth a lot now and I have the entire statue collection (that I bought from them as they came out) EXCEPT for the Martian Manhunter. I cannot say enough about how awesome they are here at Comics Conspiracy! I do not know everyone that works there, but Sam and Ryan are the two guys that I have the most contact with and they are frigging SWEET customer service guys! If you are looking to jump ship from your current comic book store because of poor customer service or any other reason, look no further!!! This store is the one that you want! Comics Conspiracy has the lucky privilege of being the closest comic shop to my place of employment. That's not the only reason I like them though. This shop has probably the best selection of Trades and Graphic Novels of any shop in the area. If you're looking for toys (which I don't tend to be) you might have better luck elsewhere, but for comics, it's a great shop. read more

This shop has potential considering their Huge bundles of comics all over the store, the only problem is The orginization of this store. This shop has Great customer service though so if you can't find anything, just ask the owner or whoever is working. The workers are well knowledged of their own merchandise. I mainly go here for their Action Figurines. The figurines are slightly marked up but it's fine because they have a great selection of figures and are in great condition. And i have no problem shelling out more money for better conditioned things! They also have a lot of back issues which is good! The Store's layout is pretty decent considering how small it is. The Comics they sell are always in presentable condition atleast. The parking lot is nice, all you have to watch out for are the High schoolers. Overall this place Deserves 4 out 5 stars. This place has great customer service and a good selection of the more current back issues and variants. The owner is a great guy and fun to chat with. I've been a customer here for a few months and can say that this is a great store. I came in for the first time a month or two after moving into the area and I decided to get back into reading and collecting comics. What so impressed me was that I came in with my wife, who also occasionally likes to read comics. She doesn't enjoy superhero comics and had no idea where to start and since I hadn't read comics in years I didn't really have any suggestions I could give. She spoke to the person there and told him she was looking for something new but didn't know what she might like. He asked her what sorts of books she had read in the past that she enjoyed so she told him. She has very particular tastes in what she likes in comics and graphic novels. What impressed me was not only how helpful he was despite the fact that she was giving him a very narrow range of stuff she might enjoy, but that he pretty quickly found something to suggest and she ended up really liking it. I decided right then that this is where I'd be doing my ordering, and I've been shopping there ever since. The staff is helpful and the store is very nicely organized, making it very easy to find what you're looking for. Always a good selection of new comics and a pretty good selection of trade paperbacks and graphic novels. They also use an ordering system called ComicHub that makes managing your order list very easy. Overall, this is a great shop. read more

Best comic book shop for my money. On numerous occasions Ryan & his staff have gone that extra mile. If you're looking for a back issue, Ryan has one of the most comprehensive collections around. He keeps his inventory fresh, and frequently replenishes his back issue stock with newly acquired collections. By his own admission, his store is more DC centric, but that's what sells. That said, he still has a rather extensive collection of Marvel and Indy books. Oh for anyone who read Bill N.'s 3 Star Review, take it with a grain of salt. He mentioned the Stan Lee signing. That event actually took place at Comics Collector Shop (Formerly R&K Comics). Clearly, Bill N.'s review is for that shop, not this one. read more

Been in numerous times. Was very enthusiastic about the set up of the shop but I dunno maybe I just keep catching dude on a bad day but the guy behind the counter comes off as a massive dick. Only really interacts with regulars or friends I'm assuming cause whenever I ask a question or direction I'm usually greeted with a sigh or short stare before the dude acts like I'm dragging him away from somthing awesome. It's hard to dive into the comic book scene with zero prior knowledge. Most comic shops can seem kind of intimidating to a newbie like myself. Many of them have only one person on-staff, and that person is inevitably always locked in an infinite debate with a patron over the finer points of some classic superhero series, which means you're on your own to sort through whatever terrible organization system they've got. I like Comics Conspiracy because all the current comics are laid out in a way that is really easy to browse, everything is well-organized, and the guy at the counter is friendly and helpful. He WILL interrupt one of those endless comic conversations to help you out. It's a cozy shop with every comic I ever come in to find, and if they don't have it, he orders it for me. So far, I have encountered zero creepy/judgmental dudes. I drive from Palo Alto, past Lee's, to go here instead. This is my favorite place to get comics :) read more
