Despite pre-paying a mandatory pet fee for my reservation, Comfort Suites Waco Near University Area (2700 La Salle) abruptly informed me after check-in that pets were not allowed. Not only was I issued an unauthorized $150 penalty fee, but when I escalated, management completely failed to respond to the front desk. The hotel collected money under false pretenses and then refused to correct their own policy mistake. Since local staff refused resolution, I am now escalating this deceptive practice. read more

When we arrived to check in we were told that you canceled our reservation due to credit card issues. We had no credit card issues. We never received any notification & had to find another hotel after 12 hours of driving. We received 2 confirmations of our reservation. This is unacceptable. I feel like the hotel is running a scam. I am a Diamond member and feel like not doing business with you anymore. I don't normally comment on Hotels but this time is different. We went on a get away/vacation and after stopping in Brenham, Tx we ended up in Waco. We pulled into this Comfort Suites and was welcomed by the nicest young man he was so helpful. We decided to stay another night and had a young man at the desk named Thomas Miller and I have to say after years of traveling, he is the nicest and most polite person we have had in a long time. He is very welcoming, always has a smile, is Happy and was one of the reasons we decided to stay two more nights. If you come to Waco, Tx, stay here and say Hello to Thomas, he will make you smile. read more

While visiting Waco to do the 'Fixer Upper' tour, we stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites (South). It is conveniently located to tour Magnolia Market (the Silos). In fact, it is located right across a traffic circle from Magnolia Table, Chip and Joanna's breakfast/lunch restaurant. Our stay here was pleasant. Our check-in went quickly and without problems as did checkout. The room was clean, the towels were soft, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were ample. A complimentary breakfast was provided. Hot items included scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy; cold items included cereal, yogurt, sliced fruit. Like many hotels, this one has the heating/air conditioning unit located beneath the window. One thing this hotel did that was above and beyond other hotels was to have a plastic piece that deflects the air into the room and prevents the curtains from getting caught in the flow and billowing into the room. On the other hand, the bottom of the tub in our bathroom had no grip. In fact, it was so slippery that we had to put a bathmat in it so that we would not slip and fall. This is something the hotel needs to address. All in all, it was a good stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites and would recommend staying here if you're going visit either Magnolia Market or Baylor University. read more

Really disappointed. AJ (the general manager) refused to allow me (a disabled veteran) and my certified support dog to stay on the property. I explained the Federal law concerning this, but to no avail. Shameful, as I had to find another room over Labor Day weekend, and didn't have time (or energy) for legal recourse. read more

I was visiting Waco with two of my teacher friends. We booked a room at this hotel and were not disappointed. Breakfast was very good and there were lots of choices. Thomas was the guy at the desk every afternoon. He was fantastic and single handedly made our trip better by offering assistance with everything from restaurant advice (George's!) to where to park, what stores to shop, and fun places to go to while visiting Magnolia Market and the entire Silos District. His advice was spot on and much appreciated. Later that day he saw us come in, called our room, & reminded us there were sodas and snacks in the lobby for "happy hour". I have never had that happen before. While I may have stayed in fancier places before, the customer service and genuine southern hospitality can not be matched. Comfort Inn: Please give Thomas a raise, an award, and/ or let him teach other hotel folks how to treat people! You won't be sorry! read more

We had a 3 -night stay at the Comfort Suites Waco on La Salle last weekend. The first night was great, but in the middle of our very busy Saturday, we came back to the room around 1:30 pm to find it locked from the inside. The maintenance man (I wish I knew his name) was so very nice and apologetic. However, he could not open the door. Julio, the daytime mgr, came up to help, and he could not open it either. They worked on it for about 20 minutes while I stood and watched. We were coming back to the room so my 89-year old mother could rest while I left to be elsewhere. I requested another room for her to stay for a while since the door would not open. Julio had no compassion whatsoever. He never apologized, nor did it seem to bother him that we could not get into our room! He told me I would have to pay for another room. I was stunned. Then he said my mother could wait in the lobby while I left. Both of those options were unacceptable. Again, Julio didn't apologize nor seem to care about my situation. I was practically in tears because I needed to be somewhere within a few minutes, and I could not leave my elderly mother alone. I asked for a room again, and again Julio said I had to pay for it. He continued to try to unlock the door to no avail. I asked a third time, and this time, Julio said, "We don't have any rooms available." I didn't believe him, since he had already told me I would have to pay for one. My mother and I left. By 10pm that night, we were still out, and I had to get my mother to bed. I called the front desk to see if our room was unlocked. I spoke to Alan (thankfully, Julio was gone), and Alan was aware of the situation. He told me our room was unlocked. (Why wasn't I notified earlier?) I had a friend drive my mother to the hotel, and he and Alan walked her up to the room to ensure she went in safely. About 1130pm that night, we returned and Alan was very apologetic and compassionate about what had occurred that day. He was sincere and extremely professional, trying to compensate for what had transpired with Julio. We checked out the next day and were happy to leave this hotel. We will not return. read more

I checked in on a Friday afternoon and was glad that the check in time was earlier than 4pm. The parking is on either side of the building and I was grateful to have a room near an exit on the first floor. The room I had was nice, two queen beds, a sofa with a coffee table, and a desk. There were also so many outlets! This does make a difference when two women are sharing the room! The pillows were magnificent and I really wanted to stow some away and bring them home. My only dislike was that breakfast is over at 9:30am. I find that to be unfairly early especially when your check out time isn't until 11am. At least push it to 10am! I felt rushed in the mornings to get my food and that wasn't pleasant. The food was good, though! For hotel eggs they had some of the best! I felt like they had a decent amount of options for pastries, as well. The TV was loud so my friend and I ate in our room. Will definitely be coming back to this hotel the next time that I'm in town. The front desk staff was nice and helpful, making sure you can find free parking if you're visiting Magnolia Market. The location can't be beat. I have some friends who live in the area so this was a very centralized place and nothing was more than a 10 minute drive. read more

We were in Texas for a company meeting, We decided to visit Waco so that we could go to the Magnolia market as we a huge fans of the show and Chip and Johanna. I found this motel on line and went with the review's, I have to say i wasnt disappointed when i checked in, the fellow that checked us in was very nice and very polite. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. All of the staff that we meet while there were very nice. The breakfeast was about like all continental breakfeasts. I would highly recommend this hotel to any one. If you like firm beds you will love this place. read more

Came in without expectations for this hotel. We were just coming into town for a wedding. Ballin on a budget. The customer service here is excellent. We were greeted with smiles and asked lots of questions about our visit. The availability of snacks by the front desk was really nice. The breakfast choices were really good too. While we were getting breakfast one of the employees was in there cleaning tables and started a conversation with us and was very friendly as well. Everything was clean especially in the room. Staff was very nice, room was clean although it did have a weird smell. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of a 4 or 5 because we had no hot water from the bathtub and when we called to let them know about it,they did check on it and were prompt to let us know " the boiler is at 140 degrees". They said that probably due to everyone in the hotel taking baths/showers???.... Really???!!! I've stayed in a lot of hotels and NEVER had this problem. They did not offer to change our room. I basically felt they told us to just deal with it. Update: The next morning we still had no hot water. They did find us a room to only shower in. Waco continues. I have to sneak this in. After lunch went to the Waco Mammoth site. This is a COOL place if you are interested in history. I forget to check in is why you see it here. Bones from 7-8 mammoths and a camel still in the dig site. They built a building over the site to preserve it. $7 to get in with a guided tour. Go check it out. Now to CS. Better than the last one we stayed in. Room a little bigger and layout of the room is better too. Breakfast area a really neat design. Sometimes you just notice these things. Great location, close to everything. Tamara, the guest service manager, is the best! Every CS needs a Tamera. Just her personallity made the stay better. Answered all my questions and sent me to all the right places. Somebody give this girl a raise! 1/5/13- a little more to add. Breakfast was two steps up from the normal CS breakfast. A solid hotel. I drove around to the major options downtown near the Convention Center and was informed that all 3 had zero rooms available. With no phone and it being 3am, I stumbled upon this option and took it. They have a very nice staff and the rooms were solid. They have a nice free breakfast with a Texas shapped waffle iron as well. I didn't really check out the pool area, etc, but it didn't look super awesome. All in all, a decent hotel with good pricing that I'd stay at again. read more

I stayed here for two nights. It was very easy to find - just off the highway. The room was huge, especially for a hotel room. 2 Queen size beds fit comfortably in one section of the room, while there were two couches and a table in the other section. We had about 12 family members in the room at one point with no space issues. There is complimentary breakfast, which I had both days. I thought it would be the usual muffins/bagels/pastries, but instead, it was eggs, bacon, waffles etc. There were muffins and bagels, but they were mostly bypassed in light of the hot food. There were no other food options for lunch or dinner (at least that I saw), but that wasn't a problem for me, as right across the road there were some pretty good restaurants that you could eat at. The staff was pretty nice, at least the people I interacted with. I didn't utilize the gym or pool so I can't speak to those. I did use their "business center," which was basically two computers which were several years old. However, it served my purpose, as all I wanted to do was print my boarding pass. I used the hotel wifi to do my browsing on my iPad. I doubt I'd travel to the area again, but if I did I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

My in-laws and I stayed at this hotel to visit my husband who is on duty nearby. The rooms are immaculate, well decorated, the bathrooms are large, it all feels homey. The front desk staff was wonderful. They were so accommodating and seemed like helping us was a pleasure. The price was very reasonable as well. About the only thing that was difficult was that none of the cleaning staff spoke a bit of English. So if you need anything, just go to the front desk. We booked a room online and pre-paid in full. Due to a medical emergency with my daughter, we had to cancel our vacation and therefor needed to cancel our reservation with Comfort Suites. When I called in to explain the situation, the receptionist said that it's company policy NOT to cancel reservations under ANY circumstances if you pay in advance....! I would think with a 6 Week notice, an emergency cancellation is acceptable (like it is at any other hotel we've stayed in). Our son needed ankle surgery and she was able to find us a room while they were fully booked and gave us a discount. She made a stressful situation much less stressful and made us feel as home as best she could. We will be up in Waco for a lot of Baylor events and doctor appointments and we will be staying here from here on out. Stopped by here last minute for a quick nights sleep. A very pleasant individual helped us book a room. The room itself is clean and comfortable. The free breakfast offered in the morning is good. Price of the room is fair. I was accidentally charged for two nights instead of one, but the manager, AJ, returned my call promptly and apologized for the mistake and refunded my account. I stayed here for proximity to Baylor during Welcome Week and am glad that I did. It was an easy drive, the room was clean, the bed was very clean and comfortable with a WHITE bedspread. Room amenities were in good working order and the complimentary hot breakfast was decent. (More than decent if you count the blueberry waffles and pecan syrup!) There are three things to be improved upon: smell of the 1st floor lobby (like an old shoe), more attention to the bathroom (only one, small incident) and the remote control looked really dirty. read more

Stayed here for two nights. In town to visit Magnolia from Houston. The two gentlemen that checked me in at night were very nice, hospitable and charming. The hotel overall was clean, great service, rooms were much nicer than expected, beds were firm but very comfy. Breakfast was good also. Overall I highly recommend and would stay here again.
