You know I typically don't roll thru Uphams corner on my days off anymore but heard this spot was buzzing. Came in on a cold midweek night, raining, found that it was bumping and lively on a Wednesday! Firstly i have to say the STAFF IS A++ service! BIG BIG thank you and respect to the ladies, yall are GEMs. Amazing! Lot's of praise to Jenna and Naiomi. Appreciate you both and thank you for phenomenal mid week date night dinner! Food definitely didn't disappoint, I didn't actually know what to expect, we asked for recommendations to start and fired off our orders. Waters always kept refilled and all the staff walking by were checking in on us! Thank you! Our dinner: Jerk duck drumette confit jerk maple glaze with lime - must get; fall off the bone, tasty glaze with a jerk spice. I kept using my knife to eat more of the sauce haha. (I typically don't like duck as a protein, but this was nice tender and juicy) Fried okra nigella crusted goodness paired with garama masala Yogurt. Crispy, flaky, light appetizer. Never knew okra could be a good dish on its own! Aachar beef mustard marinated grilled beef- crispy confit fingerling tatas, green tomatoes and pickles shallot. Make sure you mix all the ingredients together with each bite. Cooked to a perfect medium, it was like a clean grilled beef. Fried trout - deboned crispy and light. It comes on a bed of coleslaw which (helps because the Prawn curry- big ole' prawns heads on for the creamy flavor. The curry is full of depth and flavor, then this heat starts to creep up on you. Must say the spice is a sleeper i found myself chugging my water and sweat started to bead down the dome. The name stands true. Comfort kitchen, felt like elevated home style meals. Family vibes! Will be back of course for more spice kicks!

Great service, one of the best Boston restaurants. Flavors are interesting, but the jackfruit sliders were way too spicy. My fennel dish was quite good.

Heard great things about Comfort Kitchen so was happy to get a resy here. You need to get the duck drumstick, it was fall off the bone, marinated in a sweet and savory sauce that's been cooked for a while. The dishes were small and easy to share among 2 people. The atmosphere is casual and chic. The staff were responsive and quick to clean up for the next dish.

They have definitely maximized the space in this tiny restaurant in Dorchester. Albeit the small space, the bright Scandinavian feel doesn't make it feel too cramped when you're seated. Also a great place to stop by for a quick coffee in the morning. It would be especially nice in the warmer weather with the addition of the outdoor seating. I was a bit nervous that the food would be too heavy for my tasting but to my delight everything was spectacular with good portions. The food was so well balanced. Love that the menu rotates so will definitely be coming back!

Comfort Kitchen - Where Culture, Craft & Flavor Collide 611 Columbia Rd, Dorchester, MA 02125 Dinner vibes. Neighborhood soul. Global flavor. Wow --Comfort Kitchen is a gem in every sense of the word. This small, upscale restaurant tucked in Dorchester feels like one of those places you brag about finding before everyone else does. The vibe? Cozy but cosmopolitan. Perfect for a date night, solo culinary adventure, or a foodie pilgrimage while in Boston. The building itself carries history--it's set inside a beautifully restored 1912 comfort station, once a stop for Boston's streetcars. Now, it's the heartbeat of an emerging culinary story where West African, Caribbean, and American flavors meet in a creative fusion the team calls "New American, Global Soul." What to Order Every dish here tells a story, and every bite feels handcrafted by people who truly care. Jerk Roast Duck -- I've eaten all over the country, but this dish? Top five of my life. Perfectly roasted, juicy, layered with spice and smoke--your brain might actually explode (in the best way). A must-try that defines the menu's brilliance. Goat Ragu + Cassava Gnudi -- Earthy, rich, and wildly satisfying. The cassava adds a silky texture that makes this dish unforgettable. Beet Salad -- Fresh, vibrant, with a sweet-meets-tangy pop that sings. CK Fish Chowder -- Creamy and coastal with a soulful twist. Achar Beef -- Tender, spiced, and cooked to perfection. Seared Okra in Masala Yogurt -- Flavor bomb! Even if you think you don't like okra, this dish will convert you. Vibe & Experience The teamwork and energy in that small open kitchen is mesmerizing--like watching a choreographed dance of passion and precision. Every person back there is an artisan, moving with purpose. The service? Exceptional. Staff members don't just serve--they share the story of the food. You can feel the pride and purpose behind each dish. The bar seating gives you a front-row view of the culinary magic. There's not a bad seat in the house, but if you can, sit at the bar--it's an intimate peek behind the curtain. Why It's Special Comfort Kitchen isn't just about food--it's about culture, community, and creativity. They're a worker-owned, immigrant-led restaurant redefining what "American" food means today. Every plate connects global traditions with local ingredients. They don't just cook--they tell stories through flavor. That's the kind of place you feel as much as you taste. Final Word I've been twice. The first time, I wrote home about it. The second, I brought my wife back--because experiences this good need to be shared. Comfort Kitchen has officially become my forever stop anytime I'm in Boston. Small menu. Big soul. Unforgettable flavors. Boston's best kept secret--but not for long. Pro Tip: Make reservations early, dress casual-chic, and bring someone who appreciates food with heart. Because this place isn't just dinner--it's a culinary love letter. Follow-worthy? Absolutely. Every plate is camera-ready and story-worthy.

We came for an early Saturday brunch and had a great time! I was intrigued by the fish and grits so I ordered that, and my friends got the waffle and the momo's. We also got a round of nepali chai and mustang aloo for the table. Everything was so good! The fish and grits was creamy and not too fishy, the chai had that homemade chai flavor, and the aloo had a unique mustard oil flavor that I don't think I've ever had at a restaurant before. Will be returning for dinner service!

The service was so bad :( I was super excited to try this place out for dinner after stopping by for coffee and treats. I will say that the food was VERY good. We started off with the yucca fries and I loved the sauce it came with. For entree I got the jerk duck and it was so good! Everything was flavorful, fresh and delicious. Honestly it all made we want to try more on the menu. As for the service, I went for my birthday dinner and our server forgot about my friend and I multiple times, we didn't get menus, took away our water and they forgot to bring us out our drinks after a few reminders. Not sure what happened but that night the only redeeming thing was the food. The restaurant is on the smaller side but they have outdoor seating during the warmer months. I really enjoyed the lighting.

Wow Bf and I were hungry and stopped in without reservations. They were able to seat us bc we were early enough. They sat and apparently we were seated in the inaugural patio area which was located at the entrance way Greeted by Ray and another gentleman. What I really liked about the service is how it matches their name. They seemed very authentic and took pride in their job and the cuisine they served up Apparently it is also a rotating menu. We tried the fried plantains dipped in a slightly spicy sauce with peanuts on top (Kewele) I got the chicken in a banan leaf With a green sauce with rice. And pickled onions on top I could see why this place received hi marks. Each dish was so flavorful and each part of the dish was distinct but blended so well together We'd come back again!

The food at Comfort Kitchen is great, for sure, and is also both interesting and pretty! The first item I had, jackfruit sliders, blew my doors off and may haunt my dreams for a while--a great balance of sour and salty and heat. The service was kind and attentive (though wow it gets busy so be kind to the servers too). The location is in a beautiful old house so it's easy to imagine a grandma's recipes inspiring some of the food. Loved it!

I came here with my mom when she was in town and unfortunately she doesn't do spicy. The drinks we had were both amazing, I would definitely come for drinks again. Then we had an app which was good but the real star was the jerk chicken and goat gnocchi. And I would recommend the chicken over the gnocchi. Everything about that dish was good. The goat did fall apart in the gnocchi dish, I just wish the flavor had been a little less subtle. We finished with a cake which was more dry and grainy but that could have been the point? Definitely fresh flavors, just not a huge fan of the texture. The vibes were truly unique and the other guests at the bar so kind.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant and it has exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend booking a reservation through OpenTable as this place gets packed during dinner time and the restaurant is not that big. Here's what we got: Suya Beef ($18) Great appetizer to share. It came with 4-5 pieces of steak that were tender and had a nice char. The caramelized red onions, pickled mustard seeds, and mint relish really complimented the steak. It was such a unique and delicious combination! Jerk Roasted Duck ($34) Must get dish here! The flavors of the duck was out of this world and it was literally fork tender! I was surprised when the meat fell apart without me cutting into it. It was so flavorful that it paired perfectly with the rice and a pickled side dish called pikliz. I would come back just for the duck! New Fish Curry ($28) Giant piece of monkfish over a coconut curry broth. The fish had a nice sear and the was tender on the inside. It was served with a house made flatbread to soak up all the delicious curry. My friend licked the bowl clean! Beef Short Rib ($32) Huge chunks of braised short ribs that had good flavors and was paired with spinach and a side of yuca fries. Unfortunately, the yuca fries were a miss for us - they were cut too big and the texture was dense, dry, and not crispy at all. Overall, I was impressed by the flavor profiles of the food here. We also tried a few cocktails (One in a Million is perfect for sweet cocktail lovers and the Espresso Martini is strong and potent). Although the cocktails were good, I think they were a bit overpriced for the portion size ($18 each). I would 100% come back for the food though!

Would not recommend for brunch. The burger was certainly not a 26 dollar burger, quite small has not super flavorful. The shrimp and grits were uninspired, just fine. Also tails on shrimp while they are covered in sauce is just annoying. In addition, over the past 6 months I've watched quality service and food tremendously drop, hopefully changes are in progress. Today they seemed extremely understaffed with 2 servers both taking orders and manning the host desk and one server being still in training. Drinks were forgotten and it took a while to get small things such as a spoon or a straw. This used to be a place I always recommended but there seems to be issues as of late.

Soon as you get to this place you can tell everything is done with love and pride. Came here on a Thursday night and it was a vibe. The suya beef app was my favorite! The duck was cooked really well.. i do wish it had a bit more spice to it though. Brisket was solid I appreciated that they had South African red wine which is my favorite too!

For the most part, Yunnan delivered. We came in on a Sunday at 5 pm, and the restaurant was moderately busy. We were able to find seating and order relatively quickly. Based on one friend's suggestion and a bit of online help, we ordered the Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil, the Mint Beef, the Potato Pancake, and the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes. Overall, the meal was pretty good. The stars of the dinner were the Stir-Fried Rice Cakes and the Mint Beef (which was realllyyyy minty and herbaceous), while the fish tasted pretty standard for a typical Chinese restaurant. The Potato Pancake added some nice texture, but it wasn't particularly memorable and I probably wouldn't order it again. Now you might ask... okay? Cozy restaurant, fast service, good food--why the 0.5 off? And sadly, it was the dessert. Call me picky, but this was the part I had the highest hopes for. After finishing our meal, we decided to get the Coconut Delight and the Devil Sweet Sticky Balls (their words, not mine). The Coconut Delight was... okay. The best part was the bread (three pieces per cup), which, when soaked in the coconut milk, was just heavenly. But beyond that, the dish resembled a rather sad, runny coconut sago. The Devil Sweet Sticky Balls weren't much better. We loved the texture of the rice balls (chewy!), but the brown sugar syrup tasted burnt and left a strange, bitter aftertaste. This may have been a one-off, so we'll have to return to verify (and when we do, I'll update this review). But to give Yunnan the benefit of the doubt, I'll round up to a full 5 stars for now. For main dishes, fast service, and a cozy ambiance, Yunnan hits all the right boxes (just not quite dessert!)

The food is authentic Yunnan cuisine, and while many menu items are labeled spicy, I wouldn't consider them very spicy. The flavors are more well-seasoned with just a slight hint of spice. The stir-fried rice cakes were delicious and reminded me of pad see ew in texture and flavor. The beef with longhorn peppers was very tender, and the sweet and sour pork had the perfect balance of crispiness, sweetness, and tang. The fish fillet in chili oil came in a huge portion, but I wished it had more spice. It tasted more like lightly spiced oil and lacked additional depth of flavor. I also did not enjoy the Dali mushrooms, as they were very dry and bland even with the side of chili powder. Overall, I would come back because the food is good, but if you're expecting bold heat, I recommend asking for a higher spice level. The service was okay.

Started with the Mama Chang Pork Dumplings, which were excellent, and the cauliflower appetizer (a little spicy, but very good). Liked the udon noodles with chicken and bok choy, although a little less red chili pepper would have suited my tastes better (good for those who like a bit of zing to their food). The lettuce wrap chicken was well worth the 20-minute wait. Finished with the lemon ginger mousse, which was very light. The fortune cookie on the mousse was fresh and crisp, so good that some thought it might have been baked at Joanne Chang's Flour Cafe and Bakery. The finish was extra nice, with a red lucky envelope with chocolates accompanying the check, an orange at each table (signs for good fortune in the New Year), and red decorations hanging in the restaurant to create a festive setting. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share between the 4 of us - scallion pancake, bourbon chicken wings, spicy salmon rolls, pork belly buns, sliced beef, eggplant, hot n sour soup, golden potato and lemongrass soup. I think my favorite of those was the eggplant dish - perfectly cooked and flavorful with ginger and soy. Wings were good too. The soups were nice I liked the hot n sour one. The lemongrass soup was a creamy one quite tasty but also quite filling and rich. For entrees, we ordered the roasted soy glazed salmon, the Indonesian fried rice, bok choy and surf and turf noodles. Everything was good. We were all so full and also had leftovers. But decided to order dessert too - everyone loved the vanilla bean ice cream (the menu described it as a parfait) with orange granita - really generous too - 3 scoops of ice cream and the orange sorbet which was more granular than a sorbet more like very finely crushed ice. Very refreshing! The banana caramel crème brûlée was really good too - nice and creamy. The lemon ginger mousse was very creamy but I thought had a bit too much of ginger. I think the deserts were hands down everyone's favorite part of the meal despite everyone pretty much denying they wanted any! Service was very friendly by our server Julie who was delightful! Lovely young lady. Overall great experience!!

XO Seafood Udon: The restaurant specifically labeled it "wok-tossed," and it truly had a wonderful wok-hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), with an irresistible fragrance as soon as it arrived at the table. The shrimp, squid, and scallops were all fresh and large, making for a very satisfying meal. The shrimp, in particular, were coated with a thin layer of starch before being pan-fried, adding layers of texture and locking in the juices. We were seated quickly and with no issue at all, despite it being pretty crowded. The vibe was intimate and classy- a great spot for date night, or for dinner with your parents. At our table was a card (in the pictures) which was such a nice touch and was a great start to the meal. Our waitress was awesome, and it seemed like there was a floor manager too that was making sure everyone was happy. It felt like the staff truly cared and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time and experience. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times, and was very helpful with the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was very pleased to see the amount of vegetarian dishes! You don't see that often at Japanese restaurants! For our appetizers we got the lobster Rangoon and spicy edamame. Technically the tofu is an app but you would never guess that from the portion size. The edamame were outstanding! They were spicy as expected and were so tasty. We demolished the whole bowl. The Rangoons were also amazing- the chunks of lobster were divine. I myself love lobster and crab Rangoons, so a combo?! Amazing. Both the edamame and lobster Rangoons are can't misses. For our entrees/ mains we got the crispy soy noodles, miss Waldorf roll, sweet potato roll, tofu, and fried rice. The miss Waldorf roll is amazing, and I can not wait to go back and get more sushi. Truly the best sushi I have had in boston. There are other upscale sushi restaurants I have been to that charge a pretty penny but taste like grocery store sushi. Fuji is not one of those- it was truly exceptional sushi. The sweet potato roll was also delicious! I am very picky about my sweet potato rolls and had one that I have dreamt about since I had it in 2022. I have finally found a sweet potato roll that matches my standards. The crispy soy noodles were also amazing! They reminded e of one of my favorite restaurants when I was a kid and it filled me with such joy to eat something with that flavor. The serving size was pretty big too, and they were not shy on the shrimp! Note though, they were a tad oily (I added a little bit of soy sauce to balance it out). The fried rice was also very good and tasted like a good bowl of comfort fried rice. My parents ate it with the tofu and liked it! The only dish I would want some change in is the tofu- it wasn't bad but compared to the other dishes it definitely lacked the flavor punch you get in the rest of the dishes. The sauce was okay with it. After dinner our waitress brought a slice of vanilla crepe cake and ice cream! This was such a nice touch and it was SO good!!!!! It was the first time I ever had crepe cake but I loved it! I'm not sure if they have a dessert menu or not (we weren't asked if we wanted to see one) but I would love to go back and get that cake again! Overall I am beyond happy that I picked this spot for my birthday- I had an amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be back!

They have a limited menu with some items being seasonal but the waiters are very helpful and will let you know. I strongly recommend the toro, it is on the pricey side for $55 but it is one of their most popular dishes and I would say it's worth it. One dish that was recommended by everyone that I was a little disappointed about was the lobster roe pasta. It was good but I didn't enjoy it as much as expected and it started become gummy like so if you don't eat it quickly, it may become like this. It is a little plain without the lobster meat but there is an additional $15 charge so that is up to you. We also got another dish, I forget the name I think it was some black bean octopus over rice. But this dish was great with a little spice to it. Enjoyed the sake flight as well, the menu is pretty descriptive so you can pick and choose which ones that look good to you.

I visited about 3 months ago so some of the menu items I tried might be outdated, but I wanted to…read moreshare some thoughts about my experience because some of the dishes were exceptional. We started with the temaki sushi ($32) which came with two handrolls that had a good balance of rice and fish. They weren't super large but were fresh and had good flavor. We then got the miso-braised pork shoulder ($18), which was a larger portion than expected. This was our favorite dish, as the pork was very tender and flavorful. The dish had pieces of cabbage which were soft, naturally sweet, and soaked up all the flavor of the sauce. I would get this again, but with some rice because it was seasoned strongly. As this seems to be one of their most popular dishes, we also ordered the lobster roe pasta ($34). While the noodles were creamy and tasty, I think this dish is more worthwhile if you add the lobster (+$15). It does become even pricier at that point, but the noodles on their own were not super memorable. At the end we had some stomach space left and were still curious about the menu so we ordered the monkfish katsu ($25). I regretted getting this! The breading and fish basically tasted like the frozen fish fingers you can buy from the grocery store. While the yuzu tartar sauce was tasty, the rest of the dish was just not worth it. Overall, I thought the fish was good quality and really loved the pork shoulder. I would definitely eat here again, but would do more research on different menu items ahead of time.

Highly recommend this local gem!…read more Fresh, delicious sushi and hearty well-made udon noodle soup! The menu has a wide variety of options for fish-lovers, landlubbers and vegetarians alike. Also, as an extra bonus, the prices can't be beat. We've enjoyed this restaurant twice now and can't wait to go back. The restaurant is conveniently-located and open late. The owners/chefs are very nice and take a lot of pride in their work, and it shows! Thank you Super Fusion Cuisine!

Yet another Brookline restaurant I regret not trying sooner!…read more This past weekend I stopped in for a quick solo lunch around 1:30. I happened to be the only one in there, but could tell the staff was working on some online or takeout orders. I was nicely greeted and shown to a seat. After giving me water they took my order. I got the crab wontons, their take on crab rangoons, as well as three different rolls (yes my eyes are bigger than my stomach). I went with the eel avocado roll as well as the spicy tuna and yellowtail rolls. I was REALLY impressed by the quality of all the food. I was given the wontons first and they were perfectly crispy and filled. I dislike when the ratio of filling to wonton is too heavy on the filling side and things get messy. They were also SUPER hot which is a personal must. My only qualm is I would've loved a bit more sauce, there were a lot of wontons for that small dish of sweet chili sauce. In terms of the sushi I surprisingly loved the spicy yellowtail the best. Normally the other 2 are my favorite but I might've found a new go-to. The others were great as well, though. You could seriously tell the tuna was JUST cut from the fish (I watched the sushi chef do so!). Notably, the ratio on the eel-avocado roll was great as well as the amount of eel sauce. No need to pay for extra on the side! I will most definitely be ordering or dining in from here soon, this time bringing friends along!

My friend and I were looking for a place to get a good and filling meal before skating at Chez Vous and between the three options we narrowed it down to, this won. They have a parking lot for about 7 cars which was very convenient - street parking is also available but just more of a hassle. It smelled so good when we walked in. We tried to figure out the menu, but had some questions. After clarification, it made sense. They offer small, medium or large plates and vary in price depending on the type of meat selected. You can also add double meat or combine meats for an additional charge. We couldn't really see the food because of the condensation on the glass, but from the crevices, everything looked incredible which made it hard to decide. I would say there were about 20 different options of meats. I had never had ox tail before but I felt comfortable letting Flames do the honors of changing that so I chose that. I picked the rice with brown beans, steamed veggies, and oxtail. The really piled everything on. The prices are a bit high, with oxtail being the most expensive, but seeing that you can get two servings from a large plate, it doesn't seem so bad in the end. My friend had the yellow rice with curry chicken and cabbage salad. He also bought an Irish Moss drink which tasted a lot like egg nog. We had the food there. They have about 5-6 tables, each with two chairs, but or some reason the tables are all slanted down so just be careful of food or drinks sliding. The rice with brown beans was really good; midway through I tasted coconut and loved the sweet and savory combo. The ox tail was very tender and the sauce it was in was rich and tasty. The veggies were slightly over steamed but still good. My friend's curry was good. While eating we realized they sell patties as well as desserts; they have a case with these treats. I would recommend coming here for a freshly cooked and big meal. The customer service is also good. They had a sign on the bathroom that it was only for employees so just keep that in mind.
