This is quite possibly the best hotel in Beckley. Or at least it will be soon. When I stayed here…read morethey were in the midst of a major remodel. They, you might as well say, tore it down to the studs and are building it back up. In the remodel, they are making it nicer than it was. When we showed up, parking was ample. Even with all the space being taken up by the vehicles and materials for the remodel. You can park on all sides of this hotel, which is good. As on this road, it shares the road with other hotels, restaurants and fast food establishments. The biggest of highlights here is the staff. They were super helpful, knowledgeable, and on their game. Upon check in they were ready for us. They had everything lined up so that when we got to the front desk, all the had to do was get our ID and everything else was set. This was the quickest check in process I have ever gone through. Then we were off to the room. The room was spacious. King sized bed, couch setup that could turn into another sleeping spot if needed, fridge, streaming sign in capabilities. Obviously the rooms were the first thing they focused on in the remodel as they were all set to go. Some rooms have balconies. However, you are not going to get the best view and they are not that spacious. Supposedly, breakfast is included, but I didn't get a chance to partake. Other things currently available, and inhouse bar/restaurant, pantry area to grab a snack or drink, and maybe a gym. However, with a remodel, not everything is available and you need to be careful in navigating the area. Upon arrival and getting to my room, I needed to go back outside to grab something from my vehicle. I decided to go out the back door since the side door is currently unavailable, but honestly, the back door is probably unavailable as well. When I walked out there, it is like the pool/community space, but it really was part of the construction. Another low point of this stay was that there was a fraternity in house for a nearby event. At two o'clock in the morning, being woken up by those guys running up and down the halls is not fun. I was a bit shook by this, but went back to sleep. I know this isn't the hotel's fault, so I can't knock them. Another perk for this hotel is that they have an offer with a nearby restaurant. If you show them your room key you get a percentage off meal tab. That is if you remember to use it. I completely forgot to do this even though I dined there. Checking out was smooth as well. They were ready for us again. Everything was set and all we had to do was tell them we were on our way out.

Very clean hotel with a great staff to great you when you arrive. They even offered free coffee and…read morehot chocolate!!

Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's legit. Either way, I loved this motel. This place reminded…read moreme of my business travel days, in a very positive way. I'm having a hard time finding anything I didn't like about this place. Maybe the price at $99, incl tax for one night. That said, here are the highlights: Location - Awesome, right off I-77, near just about any kind of restaurant you could want. It's minutes from Tamarack, a WV craft and food venue that everyone traveling I-77 must visit. Check-in and service - check-in was smooth, friendly, and very informative. Service at breakfast was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast options were adequate, with eggs, sausage, waffles, cold cereal, fruit, coffee and juices offered in the on-premise restaurant. Room - clean, spacious, and well stocked. It might be simple, but water pressure and temperature are both excellent. In-room coffee, plenty of towels, a desk for working or eating, a comfy side chair, and iron/ironing board. Amenities - as mentioned before, there is both an on-premise restaurant and separate lounge. They both looked spacious and welcoming. Sadly, I didn't visit either, regrettably deciding to hit Ruby Tuesday's for their AYCE garden bar (I prefer to call it the AYCE E-coli bar). They offer pet-friendly rooms. They are separate, and come with a one-time $25 fee. On TV, I found many premium channels for movies, and all the standard cable package channels (via DirecTV). Parking was ample, but must warn that walking distances could be long because of the parking and building layout. I loved this stay and will likely be returning to this property if I make the trek from FL to OH again.

The person who checked us and sent us to the completely wrong door, which made our walk with all our luggage very inconvenient for elderly people. What was good: the shower head, the Pet area outback, and the location of the hotel.

I was looking for a spot to stay on my way up to Ohio. I did some hiking in West Virginia along the…read moreway, and I just needed a place to sleep. The property is really nice, clean, quiet, and easily accessible. The prices are really reasonable. All of the staff was very friendly, but Thomas really stood out. He was very adamant about ensuring that the guests of the hotel felt welcome and has a professional can-do attitude. on the way back down, I decided to stay at this property again. Same experience as the first time. My only criticism is the continental breakfast. They do have waffles, but they didn't have any other real options beyond those tiny yogurts and some danishes or toast. It was OK because Tudor's Biscuit World is only 2 miles away and there's a Burger King across the street that has a pretty decent breakfast for cheap. The room was clean, the beds were really comfortable, including the pillows, the water was hot, and the AC worked well.

So back to desk for a new room.. which was a tad better. Had a burnt food smell and toothpaste spit all over the faucet and handle. Chair was atrocious, fridge looked pretty rough, maybe it needs a paint job or cleaning. We cracked the window & screen was ripped like a person went thru it. Gave it 2 stars b/c it had hot water w/ good pressure & the bed was comfortable w/ decent pillows. We weren't gonna eat breakfast so can't review that but went to get hot cocoa for daughter & coffee grounds were in the hot water. So I told attendant & she said try the other one in the breakfast room. But we found the same problem there and she blamed the night crew for not cleaning it out.. So we just left. Evidently, they need better management over cleaning procedures.

Worn out old and not well maintained...last year same time frame I stopped in this hotel (most of…read morethe staff is excellent) and given the same room on the fifth floor and while walking down the hallway the same cut wallpaper was still there. Now why would you remember that, well the floor in the elevator has the same huge cracked floor tile and yes it still sounds like it's going to break any minute and you will be stuck in the elevator. Now for the last 16 nights I have been driving all over the midwest and staying at Fairfield Inn, Courtyard, Springhill suites and Towne Place and all of them if they were not brand new they were newly renovated some totally and so.e with a fresh coat of paint so obviously Marriott is demanding their franchises are well maintained So when you pull in to this place from the faded flag to the I need paint look you can tell Marriott must have forgotten about this place because there is no way someone from Corporate would allow this place to be so poorly kept. Oh yeah the Courtyard next door from the outside is just in as bad shape. So if you just want a bed and a bathroom this place will do..except dont get me started on the tv, the complex way to find a channel and the "CLean" brand tv remote

Stayed at this Country Inn & Suites while on our way to Virginia. My wife and I like to stay at…read morethis chain because we can get a one-bedroom suite that has a door to separate the bedroom from the living area. When she goes to bed early, I can stay up without bothering her. While having an identical layout, the room we had at this hotel didn't have this door. Our stay here was pleasant. Our check-in went quickly and without problems. The room was clean. Everything worked as I would expect - drapes closed without problems, sink stopper held water in the sink, the sink drained rapidly, the lights all worked, etc. The towels were soft; the bed was comfortable and the pillows were ample. A complimentary breakfast is provided. Hot items included omelets, sausage, biscuits and gravy and waffles; cold items included cereal, yogurt, sliced fruit. The hotel is next door to a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, so a meal and some shopping is a short walk away.

It bears mentioning before I delve into this that: A. This was by far our worst experience here, and by and large I'd rate most of our visits here 4 or 5 stars. B. We booked late and we may have gotten the last rooms available on a Saturday night. That said, this was an uncomfortable, bordering on highly unpleasant, stay. When we arrived there were zero parking spots available. Yes it was late and yes, they were busy. But there were many cars just parked badly across 2, sometimes 3 spots. I don't necessarily know how the hotel should fix this, but that's on them. We arrived late but check-in was easy. I got two rooms, but because of when I booked, they were not near each other. That's fine. That's on me. But both rooms were... subpar. It was clear immediately they were not cleaned correctly. Or maybe not cleaned at all. The bathroom was filthy. Dirt, smears, and hair were all over. There was no liner in the trash, AND trash was present. The towels appeared not to be fully stocked and were hung incorrectly. The bed was not made right and there was no comforter. The second room was just as bad, AND had a blood/brown stain on the foldout sofa. When I let the desk guy know he was not surprised and said it was an ongoing problem. He got us some clean sheets and a comforter. I also let the daytime desk guy know at checkout. He sighed and made a note as well. No other concession was offered. If this was my first trip here, i might not write this review. I might just move on to a different hotel. But this hotel needs to improve.
