Wow, what a difference time makes. My experience this weekend was terrible at the Sleep Inn. I've stayed here three previous times, all on my way to Pennsylvania. First shock came when I booked the trip - this location used to be $71 per night. I paid $302 to stay here for TWO nights. Omg. Anyway, I figured the devil I know is better than the devil I don't, so I booked the room. Started off badly as the front desk lady was very rude, told me they were out of Choice rewards and said I don't even have bottled water for you. Ok. No big deal. Room was just meh, not very clean and the bathroom walls had mismatched paint patches. TV did not work at all. We tried everything. Called front desk three times, no answer! Went down and waited for someone to appear at the unmanned front desk... She finally showed up and told us she couldn't fix it, switched us to a different room. Ugh. Long story, won't stay here again. Worth $70 a night. $150 a night, not a chance in hell. Rooms are very worn down now and bathrooms are on verge of gross.

Pet friendly, Staff were all so helpful and inviting. The room was clean and beautiful with everything you need along with 2 very comfortable beds. After a long day of packing the truck and moving, this room was Holly approved.

Bed was made when we walked in.

To me these are all cosmetic problems, and if updated would surely enhance the stay at this resort. But you do get what you pay for. We did not stay in the main hotel so I can't comment on those accommodations. Breakfast is included in the cost of your stay and for the price the food is tasty and well presented (see pics). If you just want a basic resort, that's inexpensive and offers a lot of amenities, try Glade Springs.

The Manor Houses are actually two story houses that have a central gathering area with a fire place, two fold out couches, a full kitchen and dining area for a small family or group. The 4 rooms on each floor have two queen beds, so yes, you would have to get all four rooms to sleep 12 and best of luck organizing 12 people in 4 bathrooms -- yeah, that's just 4 toilets. And, at least in my view, there is nothing accessible about this place, including the doors out to the front porch which were locked tight. I was happy that we had the entire building to ourselves, not so happy that when I turned the bathroom fan on, a bunch of debris fell from the ceiling. As for the resort -- I'm sure the golfers are happy here. Everybody else, stay somewhere else, come here for the spa. The ladies were great. We were VERY happy with our massages, facials, and nail services. We also tried (and failed miserably) the escape room -- not the escape room fault. The cost was a little out there for the room, but that was okay -- it was a treat. What I had a lot of grief for was that I was essentially double charged for "resort fees" (which I used none of) and spa fees (which I paid plenty for). Bottom line -- don't believe what you see in the photos, and especially complain -- A LOT -- when you cannot get into buildings easily with a wheelchair, walker, or cane. And complain -- A LOT -- when you trip and fall from the crumbling brick stairs and walkways. To get into the fitness center, we had to call to get a door open in an area where the trash cans were stored. Wow -- I almost forgot Amanda, the exceedingly rude front desk person and the very so-so breakfast that we didn't even bother with our second morning. We won't be back.

Nothing fancy, typical cabin decor, but it felt well-maintained. It was clean, pleasant, roomy for four (it sleeps six, but at that point it would start feeling a bit tight I think) and there were some very nice little extra touches. They provide wood pellets for the wood stove, for instance, and dishwasher pods. The hot tub was running and the TV turned on when we arrived. Before we arrived we were a little leery about the location, because we could see from the map it's less than a mile from a small area of strip malls, restaurants, gas stations, etc., but once you turn onto the property it feels like you're out in the woods, has the feel of a state park campground. It was handy having the strip mall so nearby as it contains a Kroger and a Walgreens, so you don't need to feel like you have to do a major shop. Kitchen is well-equipped, with a full size fridge, range, and dishwasher, plus washer/dryer (didn't see any pods for that). Adequate pots and pans, ample dishes and cooking utensils.

Listen if you stay here I'm pretty sure you will not be disappointed.

This is quite possibly the best hotel in Beckley. Or at least it will be soon. When I stayed here…read morethey were in the midst of a major remodel. They, you might as well say, tore it down to the studs and are building it back up. In the remodel, they are making it nicer than it was. When we showed up, parking was ample. Even with all the space being taken up by the vehicles and materials for the remodel. You can park on all sides of this hotel, which is good. As on this road, it shares the road with other hotels, restaurants and fast food establishments. The biggest of highlights here is the staff. They were super helpful, knowledgeable, and on their game. Upon check in they were ready for us. They had everything lined up so that when we got to the front desk, all the had to do was get our ID and everything else was set. This was the quickest check in process I have ever gone through. Then we were off to the room. The room was spacious. King sized bed, couch setup that could turn into another sleeping spot if needed, fridge, streaming sign in capabilities. Obviously the rooms were the first thing they focused on in the remodel as they were all set to go. Some rooms have balconies. However, you are not going to get the best view and they are not that spacious. Supposedly, breakfast is included, but I didn't get a chance to partake. Other things currently available, and inhouse bar/restaurant, pantry area to grab a snack or drink, and maybe a gym. However, with a remodel, not everything is available and you need to be careful in navigating the area. Upon arrival and getting to my room, I needed to go back outside to grab something from my vehicle. I decided to go out the back door since the side door is currently unavailable, but honestly, the back door is probably unavailable as well. When I walked out there, it is like the pool/community space, but it really was part of the construction. Another low point of this stay was that there was a fraternity in house for a nearby event. At two o'clock in the morning, being woken up by those guys running up and down the halls is not fun. I was a bit shook by this, but went back to sleep. I know this isn't the hotel's fault, so I can't knock them. Another perk for this hotel is that they have an offer with a nearby restaurant. If you show them your room key you get a percentage off meal tab. That is if you remember to use it. I completely forgot to do this even though I dined there. Checking out was smooth as well. They were ready for us again. Everything was set and all we had to do was tell them we were on our way out.

The bedroom was really big king bed room on both sides TV stand and a huge window that opened in the middle with a screen that is huge for me fresh air. We were on the third floor right above the entrance so our view out the window was of the American flag. Couldn't get any better than that. Ok time for dinner hubby wanted to relax and have a beer. We went in there restaurant KEMS to have a drink. I went and asked Roxann did she recommend their restaurant for dinner? She said she had heard a lot of good things about the food. Once we got to our assigned room it quickly became apparent that there's very little priority placed on property maintenance at this dog of a place. 1) Speaking of dogs, within 2 minutes of entering the room, a dog came barking down the hallway past us. 2) The bathroom door handle was loose and seemed close to coming off. 3) The bathtub spout was tilted about 30 degrees sideways instead of pointing downward. 4) The tub's drain had a large ring of rust around it. 5) The tub stopper would not open. I had to physically unscrew it from the tub and store it atop the toilet tank before I could get the tub to drain. 6)The shower curtain rod was bent and close to coming off. It drooped so badly that the curtain dragged the bottom of the tub, creating a fall hazard for anyone taking a shower. 7) Water dripped from the tub spigot all night. I placed a washcloth beneath the leak so we could get some sleep. 8) The air conditioner was exceptionally loud when running above our heads at night. 9) Only 1 tissue remained in the box and it was pulled up to the top of the opening to make it look like there was more inside. 10) I tried to make coffee in the Keurig but a round part dropped out of it and fell onto the floor. 11)  Diesel trucks were permitted to park right outside the hotel. At 5:30am one of them was started up and was left to idle for the next 20 minutes outside our 2nd floor window. 12) The bed nearest that window was broken. Possibly jumping children destroyed the box spring or the bed frame itself was broken. Every movement at night was answered with a sag and a clunk. 13) The cover plate of a 120volt electric child-level wall socket was missing. Any little finger that might be poking around under the desk is at great risk. 14) The carpeting was FILTHY. I'm unsure if it was originally supposed to be a brown color, but it certainly is now. My socks and the bottoms of my feet bore this out. 15) Oh, and the toilet seat was broken too. The joint is not at all up to IHG standards.

See, I'd just spent the night sleeping in my Buick, so, things like heat, running water, hot water, room to stand up, and electricity that didn't come from a 12-volt battery were really precious. I loved my stay here but would otherwise give this place 3-stars. I most likely will return, but only because of the convenience and pet policy. The straight scoop on this place is that it is a decent pet-friendly hotel at a price slightly higher than the shabby condition warrants. There is no pet fee. There is free breakfast, with hard boiled eggs and waffles as the stars. It's enough to get you started. The place and surroundings are well lit and appear to be safe. The room I was in was clean considering the parade of animals that must have been through it over the years. The AAA rate was $69+tax. Finally, if you read my review of the WVDOT, you know I'm a fan of West Virginians. This place supported that, when they didn't charge me for the night before. Recall, I was stuck on I-77. I'd made a reservation in hopes of making it the 9 miles to the hotel from where I'd stopped on the highway. I never made it. Even though they were well within policy to charge me, and I'd have paid given the fact that I made the reservation fully aware of the potential loss, they waived the charge, surely because of the conditions and the fact that they were good (business) people. This sure increases the odds I'll return.

That being said, I've stayed at a lot of Econolodges (the rooms always have fridges, which are a must for me!) and this one rates about 4 out of 10 on the creepy scale. So, mid-packer. Linens were clean, walls were...not. Seriously, how do walls get so dirty? Staff was extremely friendly. Don't try to use the "fitness center", as they call it - it reeks of cigarette smoke. Wifi was surprisingly actually functioning and the breakfast was adequate for what you are paying. Rooms have fridges/microwaves. A/C works well. Pet friendly if that's your thing, and there's a graveyard adjacent to take them to do their thing.
