Rivers Edge Inn - Comfy beds and great chairs

But you don't want to spend much time in your room with all the great things to see and do in the area. There is a wonderful patio in the rear, overlooking the river with chairs and tables. Perfect for watching birds flitting about over the water chasing insects or catching a serene sunset. They also have a platform in the river to swim out from shore. And I believe they also rent kayaks. Both things a bit to chilly for us Florida folks! Close by the quaint and historic town of Hinton, with many downtown shoppes and restaurants very walkable from the downtown. Pipestem and Bluestone State Parks nearby with many summer activities, boat rentals, etc. Winding mountain roads in the area are in great shape with plenty of scenic spots to visit. Even a Drive-In Movie a few minutes away. And if you're into freshwater fishing - the number of boats and fishermen out on the water must mean a good spit close by. Hiking trails abound. White water rafting also available with different levels of difficulty. Almost Heaven is a great motto. The mountains seem to climb to the stars. If you visit, say "Hi" to Vicky, our wonderful host..

The owners have added many touches to the rooms to make your stay more comfortable! I'm not a coffee drinker but it's so nice to have coffee & creamer in the fridge if I did. All appliances work- cooked my kiddo a Mac n cheese cup in microwave lol. AC is crisp & cold. Lots of things to do if you are feeling like getting out on the water. I think the best thing is that i felt safe here. Being a mom who took a trip alone with my kiddo, I do get nervous being so far away from home/my husband but the owners have been wonderful, letting me know if I needed anything for the room during my stay to call or text. My only complaint isn't even a complaint for them but - if you drive a low profile vehicle, just beware. I didn't know the entry way was so steep & I scrape coming in & out of the lot. Absolutely wonderful visit & I wish I could have stayed another night!

I will have to say the grounds and building were in great condition and the service was very good. Our breakfast was also very good and the waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. I had no idea how historic this facility is and it is a living museum. From the iconic central structure which was completed in 1913, the interior designed by Dorthy Draper to lift the spirts of a war weary country which was completed in 1948. And in 1962 a secret bunker was built to house congress and the President and VP in case of a nuclear attack. The overall experience was very entertaining and enlightening. This is not a cutting edge modern resort but a piece of history that gives you a look at a time which was more simple in some ways but also very complicated from active war time into the cold war. The interior took some getting used to but after understanding the significance of interior design I can see why they are not making any major changes.

I looked into a Bed and Breakfast and found the Rockwood Manor. The price was what you would expect with no price gouging whatsoever. It turned out to be a very happy turn of events. Rockwood Manor is about a 15 minute drive from Radford university and was perfect for our needs. The Manor is on the historic register. A bit rustic on in places, it was last renovated in 2005. It is a beautiful place and our Hosts Frank and Rochelle were warm, friendly and very welcoming. We stayed in the Blakemore room. It had lots of windows which provided a nice view of the property. Our room also had a jacuzzi which we used and it was amazing after a long day on the road. The bed was a bit more firm than what we are used to at home and we recommended a mattress topper but by no means is this a negative as it is a personal preference. The linens were nice and clean and smelled fresh. We walked around the property and they looked to be all set up for wedding events. Lots of space, lots of areas for photo ops. It would be an ideal place for a wedding with room for a reception. The inside while at one point was the family home was like walking through history. We loved it. My favorite thing about the place was that I felt at home. Frank and and Rochelle are wonderful hosts. The breakfast the next morning was great with options for everyone. They also set the food up buffet style which made me feel like I was at a big family breakfast :) The only suggestion I would have is for our hosts to look into some professional rug cleaning. There were a couple of stains in the rug under the table in our room would need professional stain removal to get out. This place is one of the best B&Bs my wife and I have ever visited. We loved it!!!

The grounds and the home are wonderful. The house is full of the history of the home, American values and beautifully addressed for the Christmas season. The services, food and amenities cannot be beat in a surreal time setting in America's past. Christy was wonderful; she reached out to ensure we could gain access, answers questions and prepared our breakfast the next morning. She is the best and should be acknowledged for her spirit of excellent service. Rockwood Manor also has a Hokie room in the basement, I am sure it was in tribute to my son's graduation. Rockwood Manor is the best of the best!

I was very impressed by Fayetteville, WV. I highly recommend this place. It was the perfect stay after a full day in New River Gorge National Park. It is very close to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. I woke up early and drove along the Fayette Station Road to see the sun setting over the bridge. Then went back to Morris Harvey House for an amazing home-cooked breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. Fresh coffee and orange juice with bacon and a pistachio waffle. Yum!! I had a great experience and will definitely be returning.

The dining room is beautiful and has a long wooden table that's great for large groups or encouraging interaction, conversation, and community with other guests. The bathrooms are clean, and clean towels were provided. There was a basket full of hair supplies in case you forgot to bring shampoo or conditioner. Sandi was very attentive and helpful if any help was needed with anything. She also is a great storyteller and is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Breakfast was amazing.
