We like this Courtyard Today's Drive from Hilton Head to Beckley was awful; Saturday bottlenecks throughout Charlotte; VA backups at both Mountain Tunnels; WV workers refused to open 2 lanes on Beckley Bridge resulting in 1.5 delay within miles of hotel. Due to Traffic, decided on dinner ar Marriott - Checkin clerk initially initially informed us "no dinner" tonight - I reprimanded him for false information. BLT was very good - very average service. Very limited menu and service - recommend to skip Room AC did not keep room cool Skipped Breakfast to have Trout at Tamarack.... However, did breakfast at Tudor's Biscuit World. read more

Under construction (which was not listed on the website) Check in was delayed while waiting for employees to finish chatting I'm not sure what they're renovating. The rooms are re-designed with the "new" Courtyard room design (the curved sofa-ette) but the rest of the hotel is pretty hacked up and worn. Our shower head was corroded and the shower had either mold or mold stains so not sure if that had not been updated yet or what. There is a Chick fil A and an IHOP nearby and it's not too far from the freeway so the location is good but the property just isn't. read more

Now fair warning there was still some construction going on when I stayed but it really wasn't anything disruptive. Nice stay the room was clean although I think perhaps at least in the room I stayed in the bed is probably nearing the end of its life span, after 4 days the bed did become a bit uncomfortable. Would certainly stay here again though as my company does have an office in Beckley and this is close by to the office. read more

We stayed for 1 night while traveling through WV. We wanted a hotel near the New River Gorge Bridge and this was the most reasonable room rate. Located about 20 mins from the bridge, next to an Outback Steakhouse and a Chick-Fil-A. It's a short, easy drive to most everything. We were on the 3rd floor and there was an annoying wall vibration that woke me up in the middle of the night (spin cycle of a washing machine, possibly???). The room was what I would expect of a Courtyard - clean but no frills. The rate was higher than I would normally pay for a Courtyard, but we were there in the summer when I assume it's high demand. It was a fine, clean, mid-grade hotel. read more

So very nice at check in desk. She worked hard to get a king size and two queen beds as close together as possible. I had asked ar least one room have a balcony, but they both did. That,s going above and beyond. Its clean, newly renovated and has a bistro and bar. You can sit in front of a firepit in the courtyard and have an adult beverage. The stay was a typical hotel stay for this price point. Was quiet and the breakfast was good. Front desk help was superior.

I spent a few nights here a couple months back and while it wasn't necessarily the most luxurious stay I've had, it was perfectly fine. Due to COVID, the amenities were pretty sparse, but that's to be expected. The staff was friendly and welcoming and did answer any questions as needed. The rooms were pretty standard (basic). It had what I needed- a desk to do work on, a small fridge, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The room was nice, nothing to wow you, but it served its purpose. The hotel was located in a great place in terms of food and highway access. I know Beckley isn't the biggest metropolis but I appreciated it not being a chore to get in and out of the hotel. I did find it a bit noisy in there which was surprising to me being COVID and the idea of social distancing rooms, but I definitely could hear people. The business center was probably the only amenity I used and was happy to be able to print out my documents. Overall the hotel was perfectly fine. If I was in the area again I'd stay here. read more

The hotel is undergoing a major renovation & the main entrance doors are out of service today & side access doors require room key so I wonder how people will check in. This is my second stay in 2 months & I don't see much reno progress. All personnel are friendly & responsive to my requests. Sink in 1st room is plumbed backwards, Sink in 2nd room has very low water pressure. TV service is satellite so reception frequently goes out. I haven't figured out housekeeping schedule so make the bed myself, catch housekeeping in the hallway to refresh towels, empty trash & replace in room coffee. My partner stays here for business a couple of times a month. He says this is the nicest hotel in Beckley but`I just think it isn't up to Marriot standards. read more

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. The staff was friendly and attentive upon arrival and the room was generally up to date and clean. The shower had some unfortunate holes from moved shelving done poorly in a recent renovation. The hotel is conveniently located across from several restaurants within walking distance. We spent the weekend in Beckley and chose the Courtyard as our hotel. Staff are attentive and helpful. Main spaces are well kept and bright. Our room was cleaned and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Will stay again. If you're an internet TV person requiring Net flicks or others, these functions didn't work in our room. Room 321. Reported to the front desk when we checked out. read more

At first sight I thought that was it would be rough. The outside could use some attention. However our room was very clean and comfortable. I've stayed in several hotels in Beckley area in disappointment. By far this has been most comfortable. The price was cheaper through the hotel than travel apps. I will definitely stay again. Some things I need to add. There is no complementary breakfast, coffee. There's a restaurant where you can order. The bad thing is that it doesn't open till 7:00. So if your an early riser like me you will be stopping next door at McDonald's. read more

Do not stay at this property!!!!! We had stuff stolen from us while we stayed there in October 2021. The maids or front desk staff stole cosmetic supplies from a toiletry bag we left in the room and we had a family member pick it up Within an hour of leaving the hotel. The Manager, General Manager and Marriott Bonvoy Customer Care didn't do anything for us in this situation . The hotel is dirty and the staff is rude! The hotel doesn't even provide complementary coffee in the lobby. And they say because of COVID they stopped, but you can purchase it from them!!! They say it's because of COVID but we stayed there in the past and the staff has no regard for safety. The front desk staff, including the regional manager just watches TV in the booth adjacent to the front desk and if you ask them for something they act like it's a hassle for them to get up and do their job. So DO NOT stay at this property if you can help it. read more

Not a smile, not a friendly face. The front desk attendant is upset today. Maybe she didn't feel like going out of bed this morning, but definitely didn't feel like being involved in the hospitality industry. Maybe she'll get a job at the DMV. The hotel is dated, washroom towel bar fell down, the AC is noisy. They are not familiar with the Bonvoy program, you would need to argue a bit if you want your benefits. Coffee machine is broken downstairs so you cannot even purchase an espresso in the morning. But who needs one? You'd better jump in your car and drive away fast so you can forget how they overcharged you for this motel. Enjoy! read more

Decent breakfast selection which I though that it was overpriced. Decided to get the croissant (pretty good) and the berry+fruit combo (probably bought in a supermarket). My coworker got the sandwich and he said that the egg tasted like it was just unfrozen. I've said it before and I'll say it again- a Courtyard is a Courtyard is a Courtyard. The staff was very nice but my complaint was the VERY loud construction going on for "renovations". Got to the hotel a little earlier and was very hopeful for a nap but needless to say that did not happen It's definitely slim pickings for Marriott peeps in Beckley so if you need to stay here, it is a fine place but I will definitely be going out of my way to avoid this location in the future. Not just because it's a Courtyard but also because you have very limited food options if you are looking to get a tasty meal close by. read more

My room was broken into during my 3 night stay. I know hotels have a clause saying there not responsible for your property, but this hotel's staff was so uncaring and apathetic that I was disgusted. The staff working the front desk had no access to look at the security tape footage. The management that does have access never even responded to my requests to look at the tapes. Hotel wise it was fairly clean, the fan in our bathroom was extremely loud. Fairly standard, boring complimentary breakfast. Indoor/outdoor pool was nice. Jacuzzi inside had no jets, jacuzzi outside has jets but is not heated. read more

My husband and I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott in Beckley, WV in October for a friend's wedding. Overall, the room was fairly clean. That being said, I felt that, for the price, the condition of the room was less than acceptable. The shower doors in the bathroom were rusty, and the fixtures looked as though they were old. I will say, though, that the bed was very comfortable. The worst part of our stay was the fact that a neighboring room's smoke detector kept beeping- starting about halfway through the night until 4:00 in the morning. It must have been low on batteries. We didn't get any sleep from about midnight on. In addition- no complimentary breakfast. I would have thought for the price (over $200,) there would have been some sort of complimentary breakfast available to guests. Instead, you could pick from their menu, and have the cost charged to your room. Again, for $200/night, you'd think they'd serve at least a continental breakfast at no charge. When checking out, we told the hotel clerk about the smoke detector. All we got was an apology and "I think there's a smoke detector back there" as she pointed to a back room. No offer for a discount on a future stay (which I can tell you there won't be one,) nor any amount of money deducted from our bill. Our experience was not a good one. read more

Actually ended up here after another place nearby goobered our reservation, so we were quite lucky in my opinion. This courtyard is extremely comfortable and very accomodating. The lobby is a bit small, but it opens up to a suprisingly stylish dining area with plenty of seating. There is also a fab sitting room complete w/ flat screen, public computers and a bar; very cool! Our room was ample in size and accomodations; the beds are VERY comfy. One plus is the awesome water pressure in the shower which is an oft underappreciated feature of any hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will visit again when in the area; it's nice to have a home away from home you enjoy while traveling. The only bummer I have to report is that our room keys had been turned off 3 hours before check-out time. Usually just an inconvenience, but after stopping by the desk to correct the problem the nice lady promptly re-activated our cards.....without asking our name....or for ID....YIKES!! This hotel is conveniently located right off the exit, near a variety of restaurants including Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse, Hooters, etc. The lobby of this hotel is REALLY nice and new looking.. slightly deceiving. The rooms were decent but did not look as new as the fancy lobby. The mattress and pillows were lumpy and not as comfortable as I expected for the Courtyard by Marriott. Especially at over $110/night in a small town in West Virginia! However, we read Expedia reviews for other hotels in the area and apparently this hotel is the best one.. The AC unit in our room stopped working in the middle of the night and our room became sweltering hot. Luckily, we only stopped at this place for one night. Best thing about this hotel is the free wifi! We didn't use the pool but it looked pretty nice and clean. read more

Wanted a nice place to stay while passing through. Did not have a reservation. Front desk service was excellent and timely, room was very nice and clean, and the bed....OMG! I want one of these. So comfy. I am kinda spoiled, I guess. For the class of hotel, I expected breakfast available. I was sadly mistaken. They do have a bistro bar to get some food if you do not desire to foray out to find any but don't offer any kind of breakfast, not even Continental. But there are a few restaurants close by if you do want to get out. They even have a small place to pick up snacks but did not use it. I would recommend this place, just be aware of the food situation. read more

The ladies in the Starbucks Bistro were very accommodating. Had the breakfast sunrise sandwich & French toast with Strawberries. A nice surprise to order at counter, then be served, sitting down, after a long ride through mountains. Thanks for the pleasant, clean experience! Nice outdoor, heating fireplace sitting. Stayed at the Fairfield next door. The staff at this motel will do anything to help their guests. My wife was washing up before bed and her earring flipped down the drain. Alan, one of the hotel staff came to our room, took the drain apart, and retrieved the earring. Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommended. read more

Beckley, West Virginia Instead of stopping in a popular travel location Charleston, West Virginia, for a good night's rest, just 50 miles South is a town called Beckley. When looking at hotels, three basic things come to mind, the emotional response to the design and cleanliness, the quality of the staff attitude and cleanliness. There are many motels to choose from while driving to a vacation destination, but we stopped here because of previously good experiences with Courtyard. They were remodeling when we arrived, but the concierge put us in a recently updated room. It may be the case that the walls may not be perfectly square to meet the window treatments, or that the building may not be too far from the ten other hotels and motels in the area, but as soon as you walk in to the lobby, you can tell that they are trying to "step up" their game, and it works. The lobby includes a dark wood business computer nook for quickly checking your email or printing a boarding pass. They also have an open air business center where you can sit and review your emails and plan out your next destination. In the distance from the front desk is a breakfast bar that is modern , clean and inviting. Between the check-in area and food bar is a sitting area that is inviting for mornings or evenings. The entire feel inside is like a spa. They have a small workout room with fresh clean towels, a complete set of dumbbells, treadmills and exercise bike - all new. The room included wheat grass wallpaper, matching painted window treatments, modern desk/dresser combo in stained wood, appropriate art work patterned towels and even a high-end shower head with included curved shower curtain rod. If they keep up the cleanliness, quality of customer service and new upgrades, this can be a great destination for many years. I'm definitely returning. My compliments to the design people who came up with the Courtyard interior upgrades. read more
