Omg. Clean comfortable and reasonably priced in Beckley, WV. We arrived road weary and frustrated because of traffic jams and other things that happen when traveling through the mountains. Our check was fast and friendly. With an excellent recommendation to a restaurant to top it off. Then after a wonderful night sleeping we woke to a great shower, & then downstairs to breakfast, which was a total experience, with fresh yogurt and pancakes that were made before our eyes. A special shoutout to Susan at the front desk her willingness to answer my questions and professionalism that can be appreciated so early in the day. Overall great experience. We stayed here a few years ago and we had a good experience. This time though, was a totally different experience. We stayed for four nights and five days and we could not get anyone to service our room, even after kindly asking the housekeeper that was on our floor. Every night, we would have to go downstairs and ask for items that we needed. Our trash cans were never emptied and as you can imagine by the end of our stay, they were overflowing. The most disturbing part of our stay was the second to last day when we found someone's dirty workout clothes laying in our room on the bench. Did someone change in our room or take a shower?? When we told the front desk, they did not seemed concerned. As you can imagine, we will not be staying here again. read more

Very nice hotel. Great location near lots of restaurants. Only issues...rooms were kind of small. Not a lot of walking room. Hotel seemed to have some structural issues during our visit. The elevators were out, two hallway tiles busted and needed replaced in the hallway, and the parking was not good at all. This location allows pickups with trailers to park there. In the three nights we were there a combined 30 plus spots were used/taken due to the trucks/trailors parking across parking lines. The parking lot is not that big, so when a few guests get to use more spaces because their vehicle needs more than 5 spots that is not fair to the rest of us read more

It was a great stop as a family. They have games in the lobby and a fun atmosphere all around. The lobby has a decent selection of drinks and snacks to purchase in case you want to hang out a bit before turning in. The rooms were nice but nothing too luxurious. I still am not a fan of the sliding bathroom door that they seem to be adopting everywhere, but the shampoos and soaps were quality. We will definitely stay here again if we are passing through. read more

Despite making a reservation months ago for a handicapped (wheelchair) accessible room, we arrived at 11pm after driving nearly 16 hours only to find that there was no handicapped accessible room for us. In fact, not a single room on the first floor available at all. The elevators have been down for 3 weeks and they did not think to contact customers with existing reservations. While I completely understand that these things can happen. You should absolutely have a contingency plan which includes contacting people with reservations to let them know they will need to WALK UP many flights of stairs if they are staying there. The front desk receptionist lied, three times while talking to us about why we did not have a room. We were told we had booked an accessible tub room on the ground floor. We did not, and it was only AFTER we showed her our reservation that she changed her story. We were told that they weren't sure we actually needed a handicapped accessible room, despite being required to attest to the fact we needed one when making the reservation. We were then told that there was a ground floor roll in shower room, occupied by a long term renter. When we asked why he was not moved from the room to accommodate a pending week long rental for a handicapped veteran, we were shamed due to the individual being elderly. Not handicapped... elderly. The front desk person then told us she found us a room at another hotel and that they had a handicapped room for us for the week. We called to confirm and that was not the case at all. They had a room for one night. We were told that we could come back the next day for our vacation and they would move the elderly resident. When we checked in at the other hotel, they were able to find a solution that worked for us and we were very grateful. After getting checked in, we called Tru back to tell them we would not be returning, and please do not move the elderly man. The person who answered the call had no idea what we were talking about. Had no idea there was an issue and there were no notes on our file. Only a reservation for a date we would not be in the area. Which we did not make. I had to then cancel that reservation after seeing that it was never cancelled by the individual who made it. So if you want to walk up 4 floors of stairs, go ahead and take your chances... I'll be sharing our concerns with Hilton corporate. This hotel is not handicapped friendly. read more

Yelp 100 - #25 March 2023 We stayed at this hotel while visiting the New River Gorge National Park and it was great. The staff was always kind and friendly and they provided a list of several food options in the area. During check in we were given several brochures of things to do in the area and places to see. We already had an agenda but wit was very kind of them to offer. This hotel is great the warmer months because the New River Gorge National Park provides a lot of outdoor water activities. I enjoyed this hotel because it is right off of the interstate and it was clean and well kept. Break was served daily and room cleanings are provided on request. read more

Like many Hilton brands they no longer have in room coffee. I'm a business traveler and having coffee while I work in the morning (without having to get dressed and go down to the lobby to get it is important to me) I stopped at this location without a reservation and the front desk was kind enough to warn me there was no in room coffee. I thanked him and left staying at the Comfort inn next door. If you need in room coffee in the morning, this isn't your place. read more

A buddy of mine is a true hard man, so he dragged me along to watch him compete in the Spartan Race. I couldn't believe how relaxed Tru by Hilton Beckley is compared to other hotels. I'm used to getting roughed up by a bunch of impatient 5-year-olds waiting behind me in the waffle maker line at breakfast. I managed to make two waffles without suffering a single kick to the plum sack. The walls are thinner than my hair, but hey, at least I was able to rest my body after sitting in the sun all day. The rooms were a bit strange in terms of coloring and layout, but the workout room was the perfect place to let my heavy heart power my way through even heavier reps. I'll be back once my back and SI joints stop shaking hands with Father Time. read more

Stayed at this Tru for one night passing through town. Generally speaking it was very comfortable. There's a nice sized lobby with lounging areas and a small market with food and bev. And a fitness center, and a pool table, but no SWIMMING pool though, which I didn't realize when I booked it and was disappointed I couldn't go for a stretch and soak after a long day of being cooped up in the car, but that's on me for not reading the list of amenities close enough. We had our pups with us and they were accommodating with them as well. They have a few nicely manicured grassy areas for even our pickiest pup to potty in (she does not like tall grass). Beds were comfy, price was right, and the check in and check out staff was nice and helpful. It's located near several food options, New River Gorge National Park, and the Tamarack Marketplace which is an amazing arts center and market carrying the work of local appalachian artists. Highly recommend popping in there on your way in or out of town. Overall we'd definitely stay here again passing through town, especially if we have our dogs with us. read more

This is Hilton's economy hotel, and it's a fun place with bright warm colors. Large lobby has different areas to just sit, read, talk on the phone, play games, get coffee and eat your carryout foods, or enjoy Tru's breakfast. We played pool. Yes, there is a pool table! And we walked around the parking lot several times. The exercise room has three treadmills. The rooms are pretty and simple. The floors are faux wood. Tables and desk are smaller than regular hotels, so there's plenty of space. The bathroom is nice, tho the towels are not not big and fluffy. We had a king sized bed that was comfortable. The noise level was good as we always ask for an end room. For an overnight or two Tru is the ticket. We were tired of the Hampton Inn. read more

Usually stay across the street at the Hampton Inn. Thought to try TRU this time. BIG MISTAKE. No carpets makes for a N.O.I.S.Y. stay. Heard constant foot traffic above and around the room including barking dogs. Yes...pet friendly. No coffee maker. No microwave. No Carpets. Rooms very, very small. No closet, however ironing board in plain sight. Did have hot water. Temp control worked. Beds clean. Breakfast selection OK. Did I mention that the Hampton Inn across road was about $ 40 cheaper? read more

Smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in but charging a premium in the middle of nowhere. They don't show you photos of the king size room online for good reason. THEY ARE TINY. Barely any room to unpack and no closet. Also you get a lot of noise from the highway and the surrounding rooms as the walls are thin. Breakfast was pretty bad. They had bacon that was inedible. How do you screw up bacon? Rooms were clean and bathrooms nice however. Bed comfort just average. Would not stay here again. Reminds me of a college dorm room stylistically. Stayed for one night after a long drive. Check in and out was quick and easy. The breakfast was nice and the place was clean.

Booked a 1 night stay on a long drive to break up drive time. Hotel is clean and staff was friendly during our minimal interactions. The rooms have minimal amenities but that is the Tru brand. However, we were given a first floor room and heard every thing all night long. The door to the room didn't seal at the floor so light poured into the room constantly. About 5am an employee was singing and talking on the phone extremely loudly on our hallway. The walls are so thin we heard 2 other rooms alarms in the morning. I was more tired than I would have been had I just driven all night. read more

We have stayed at this hotel some 15 times in the past couple of years and have always thought it a decent deal and comfortable stay. The last 10 days have made us NEVER want to step foot in the hotel ever again. Last week, we stayed here, and though most of it was ok, the water was COLD after 1 quick shower. When we went to ask about it, the front desk worker said we could move (our 80-year-old mother who just lost her husband) OR cancel. We asked him if the other room would be the same, and he said blankly, "I have no idea". When asked if they had a pool (to use the shower if they did), he said there was a pool table. RIGHT... we'll rinse off on the table over there. Bad enough for the one time, we thought five days later, they'd have it fixed. NOPE. We asked the same idiot at the desk if the water was good as we had a problem just a few days ago. He ignored that and gave us the key card. No - sorry to hear it, no - let me check, nothing. So we went to our room, and there was no hot water. I returned to the front and demanded it be remedied. He said I can move you or cancel you. We're on a 7-hour trip, and he wants to cancel the room as if we had another stay in our pocket?! AGAIN,... no sorry, no let me fix it. He stomped off and returned to give me another key with no care in the world. The room we moved to had no hot water either. Final straw was the replacement front worker telling me no manager could be talked to until Monday - and with that - DIDN'T ASK ME WHY OR WHAT WAS WRONG!! I have no idea what has happened to this nice hotel, but it isn't worth stopping at anymore. read more

I really like tru by Hilton, I've been to multiple of them and generally speaking they are all pretty much the same. The rooms are comfy and have everything we'd need, it's modern and up to date too. I think the lounge is really nice it's definitely comfy and a good spot to hang out and eat at in the morning, and had a pole table as well as a "market" which includes candy, snacks, drinks, medicine like Tylenol, and more. the service here is also very nice and accommodating. My complaint is there is no pool which seems like it shouldn't be a big complaint but I really do enjoy it and it gives people many things to do, but other than that, it's pretty perfect read more

Overall good stay. Everything was clean, the rooms are cute, and the lobby is nice. The breakfast bar was great and the staff was really nice. The only downside is the beds and some noise. The beds are like sleeping on the floor they are so hard. They were out of any mattress toppers so I used 3 comforters, each folded in half, to try and make the bed sleepable. It helped enough for me to get some sleep. Also for the first few hours of the morning the housekeeping staff constantly goes in and out of doors by the rooms and opens and shuts cabinets that make a very loud banging every few minutes for hours straight. If you are trying to sleep or work it's pretty frustrating. They need to either softly close the cabinets to be mindful of the guests or put somethings on them so they don't make a noise when shut. It also doesn't seem like they restock the little shop much because it was almost empty my whole stay and that makes it feel like the food is old and has been there for a while. Edit: I am about to take away a start because this is my second day and they have still been slamming cabinets for the past 7 hours.... It's driving me insane this is ridiculous read more

Omg we are here and I can't tell you for $250 a night what a shame! The noise in the room was so bad we hardly got any sleep! The neighbors in and out slamming door at 2 am! The coffee pot was so filthy we couldn't drink coffee! It needs cleaning and updating! We have a room booked here on the way back home let's hope it's better! Shower pressure horrible! Driving up to this hotel and walking through the front door, there is such a stylized appearance to the place that you're anticipating a nifty stay at a cool place with a "hep" vibe. But this property is almost entirely style over substance. The shower's water stream was less strong than my own when I piddle. (seriously) Although the dispensers contained shampoo and conditioner, there was no soap. In fact, the dispenser for soap had been removed entirely. The room came with a mini-fridge but no microwave. There is a microwave available for use by the front desk, but it only works occasionally. At the breakfast buffet, there were no bowls for cereal. How guests are supposed to eat their cereal, if that is their food choice, is beyond me. (I ended up eating mine out of a coffee cup, which truly is utterly ridiculous.) The pancakes there were cold, too, because the pancake maker was not working properly and the staff member operating the breakfast buffet didn't know how to fix it. She also did not seem to know how to restock items that had been used up by other guests. Check-out was slow, and check-in was EXTREMELY slow. The front desk staff member was friendly and helpful, but with only one person ahead of us in line, check-in still took more than 20 minutes. read more

The front desk guy when we checked in at 5:00pm could not smile or talk no matter how friendly I tried to be. The Night Staff guy at the front desk wasn't any friendlier. Neat hotel, Great Staff, Interesting room. This is one of the new Hilton hotels. It is located in Beckley. It is easy to see off I-64 and is located on the north side of the intersection of I-64 and SR 3. It seemed pretty easy to get to by car. There seems to be plenty of parking around the entire building. It is 4 stories with a beautiful lobby and a circular counter for check-in. The staff that checked us in was absolutely wonderful, efficient and authentically helpful in finding us a restaurant for dinner. I like the lobby setup with the open air spaces to interact, play pool and surf the web. There is a workout room near the elevators. Across from the lifts are signs for restaurants, locals sights and suggestions from the staff. The room is a little tighter than other rooms but functional. The bathroom seems a good size compared to other hotel chains. There is a refrigerator but no microwave. The room has no closet but several places to hang item . There are no drawers but desk-like areas to place clothes The desk is small and the bedside tables are not matching. Overall, it is a very nice place to stay thanks to the staff and lobby look but realize the room is different than your standard hotel room at other chains. read more

Amazing value and quality for its category. Beds are comfortable, amenities are available, nicely decorate; they even have a pool table and a entertainment area as well as a gym. I have stayed at a lot of Hilton properties such as Hilton garden and tapestry collection and I have to say Tru by Beckley is better than a lot of them. Their free breakfast provide a great availability and everything was delicious. But most importantly, the staff is amazing. Stayed here 2 years in a row on the way home from Florida. Nice quiet room, very helpful staff checking in and the room was nice and clean.

I stay at a lot of hotels - maybe 100-120 nights a year. 99% of those nights are Hilton or Marriott properties. This Tru hotel is tied with a hotel in Billings, MT for having the worst shower ever....... The room has two tv remotes and no instructions (yes, I figured it out, but that's not the point). Hotel was clean, rooms fine, staff nice or I'd have given no stars. read more

The staff and facilities at this location are exceptional. My family had a bad experience at a different TRU facility near by but love the TRU concept so much we chose to try a different location. Beckley WV TRU is clean and well kept. Even though the staff is stretched they were pleasant and had positive attitudes. For a fairly new property it is not very clean. Staff seems to hang around the lobby area looking at cell phones during morning breakfast rush instead of cleaning residue off tables and stocking. Very limited selection of fresh fruit. One day oranges next day none Unwashed unwrapped apples and under ripe bananas. Nothing but sugar laden crap to put in oatmeal or yogurt. No chopped nuts or fresh berries. Undercooked potatoes one day. Salty eggs and weak coffee no options like boiled eggs. Rooms not clean as they should be. Bedding looks suspect as if they don't always change sheets or they need replaced after becoming dingy. read more
