Great atmosphere. Waited a tad long for my burger and fries but for the best burger I've ever had I would wait as long as it took. Incredible. The Comet Classic pimento cheese burger. The fries are top notch also. Why did I wait so long to find this place? read more

Some of the best neighborhood bars are the ones you'd never stumble upon unless someone brought you there... and this is one of them. Tucked away in the back of a strip mall off Park Road next to the Shitty Kitty (IYKYK), this place has all the ingredients for becoming your new local favorite. It's low-lit, clean, has a cool mural inside, plenty of parking, and the A/C was working overtime on a 95-degree day--which honestly deserves its own five-star review. The staff was phenomenal. We came with friends who stop in every Saturday, and the bartender essentially already had their drinks in mind before they even sat down. I love seeing that kind of neighborhood feel where regulars are treated like family, but newcomers are welcomed just the same. The pours were generous (which is always appreciated), and the burgers were banging. The fries were solid too... personally, I like mine a little thinner, but that's purely preference, not a complaint, and I ordered them extra crispy... they delivered! Everything came out hot and exactly as ordered. My only "complaint" (and it's more of a funny observation than anything) came courtesy of the men's room. Apparently they're very serious about conserving toilet paper or the men's bathroom wanting to be used in that capacity because, according to my boyfriend and our friend (who went to investigate after we couldn't stop laughing), you would definitely have to lift from the toilet seat to reach the roll. We got a good laugh out of that one. All good from the women's room tho! Haha! This is the kind of place you stop into once and find yourself wanting to come back. Great people, great vibes, cold A/C (on the HOTTEST DAYS), heavy pours, and burgers worth the trip. I'll definitely be back! read more

5/5! Comet Grill is awesome! Nice, little neighborhood dive bar. Parking can be tough at times, but usually not an issue. Service is always great! Their burgers are to die for! Cooked literally in front of you and full of flavor. All American burger is also $10 on Saturdays. Highly recommend. Live music most every night of the week as well! read more

Comet Grill serves some of the finest burgers in Charlotte. With a variety of styles from which to choose, you cannot go wrong ordering one. They are always cooked to order, and delivered to your table hot and fresh. French fries are fresh cut and twice cooked, lightly seasoned. Beer selection is excellent. Great casual place to enjoy a seriously good meal. read more

I was very disappointed to have the experience we had after seeing such great reviews about this place. I thought it would be a good spot for my mentee and I got spend time with each other. Upon walking in, I realized it wasn't the best idea but we stuck it out and sat upstairs where it was quieter. The bartender had us order from the bar as well as our drinks and told us it would be brought up once finished. We both ordered burgers but they never asked us temp preferences. So minutes into then preparing our meals, I ran back down to ask if we could choose the temp. It disappointed me to see not one server came to check on us yet they stopped at the other tables multiple times. Not to mention for what you pay, no one even came to check on us or get us a refill. While I understand we chose upstairs, you would think at least pass thru once. But besides dropping off the plates, we never saw anyone again until we went downstairs to pay. Truthfully as good as the burger was I don't think I'd be back. That was the only reason this place gets 3 stars. read more

Get the burger and fries. Trust me you can't go wrong. I found this place because it was on the best burgers in Charlotte review.

This unassuming dive bar is a great spot to gather some friend, toss back a few cold ones and snag a burger. They have drinks up and down the price menu, with a wide enough menu for everyone. Known for their burgers and fries as well as laid back environment, this is a chill spot to check out. read more

I really like this place. My 3rd time.. Each time there's a band. It is small but intimate. And it been around for sooo long. Kinda rare now to have a long standing cozy spot where there's not usually a big turnover on staffs. You see the same faces. Staffs and customers. Beer and drinks aren't that expensive comparing to the TIk Tok "trending" spots in Southend. 3 dishes I had ordered from there and I'll order it again Meatloaf special: 5/5 homemade, juicy and lots of it for $12 I think Lemon pepper wings: 4/5 crispy and very saucy Regular burger: hand made burger patties, not dried out. And I love their fries. Now if you're looking for a spot to quietly talk with friends or a first date. This is NOT it. Maybe during the day for lunch etc. but at night. It usually crowded and have a band playing. So plan accordingly read more

Our food was very good and we would love to come back here again. There are only about four tables and everything else is at the bar. The bar stayed busy the entire time we were there, and we were glad we were able to find a spot. There was a band that was warming up. We also found out you have to order at the bar, they do not come By to check on the tables. That was our first time, so we are glad they came to check on us, but we found out that does not usually happen. They also had a lot of pimento cheese options which were sooo tasty!! read more

Randomly stumbled upon this spot one day on google maps and decided to try out with a friend who was visiting. Not a sports bar type of place, so if you plan to watch a game, you may want to find a different place. With that being said, our waiter was absolutely awesome and the people at the bar just hanging out there gave a really good energy as well. Now for the food, we started with the comet queso, and even though it's a bar, it was absolutely amazing! Queso was warm and nicely melted and the chips were PERFECTLY fried and seasoned. I also got a half a dozen hot wings which were also very good. I look forward to going again! read more

We only had a couple of Alllegash drafts and sat outside. The bartender was spot on with service, the beer was cold, it was a beautiful day! It was full inside for lunch, so be prepared for that. The place is cozy and inviting. read more

Finding out about Comet Grill felt like Charlotte's best kept secret. It's the perfect neighborhood bar vibe with amazing food. I got the Comet Queso to start and it was amazing and the chips were perfectly seasoned. For the main food, I got the veggie burger and it was one of the best ones I've had and the hand cut fries were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Looking forward to my next visit here read more

The service behind the bar cussed us out for being wet in a rain storm. Very rude service. Would not recommend.

Ladies, gentlemen, and all connoisseurs of hunger, prepare for lift-off as we journey to the Comet Grill, a celestial body in the culinary universe of Dilworth, Charlotte, NC. Nestled in the cosmic expanse of the Food Lion shopping plaza, finding a parking spot here is easier than spotting a UFO on a clear night! Let's talk menu - a constellation of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and bar snacks, all crafted with interstellar skill. They say everything is made in-house, from sauces to hand-formed patties, and I believe it! They even cut their French fries and chips by hand - probably while juggling planets or something. Vegetarians, fear not! With offerings like house-made veggie chili and black bean burgers, you won't be left in the asteroid belt. For 27 light-years (or human years, rather), Comet Grill has been serving the Charlotte community with a side of cosmic charm. They're open until 2am every day, because in space, no one cares about bedtime. And get this - live music five nights a week! But beware, earthlings: after 8PM, it's a 21+ space station. The place buzzes like a busy satellite later in the evening, and there's even an outdoor patio with heaters for when you're feeling a bit like Pluto. A full bar orbits the scene, with bottled and tapped beers, and the day's soundtrack was 'Sympathy for the Devil' by The Rolling Stones. How fitting, as this place is devilishly good! Let's talk about the cosmic commanders: Alicia and her daughter, Cora. Alicia, the bartender-cum-waitress, is so friendly she might be from Venus. She sat with me, shared stories of the restaurant's history, and knew her regulars' orders by heart - probably telepathy. I didn't meet Cora, but I hear she mixes cocktails like she's stirring the Milky Way. Now, the All American Cheeseburger - a meteoric masterpiece. Served medium-ish with a galaxy of hand-cut fries (slightly over-salted like a Martian margarita, but hey, we're not complaining), the burger was a celestial delight. American cheese draped over it like the rings of Saturn, all nestled in a perfectly toasted bun. At $12 (only $8 on Saturn...I mean, Saturday), it's a steal! In conclusion, if you're star-hopping through Charlotte and hunger strikes, Comet Grill is your galactic gateway. Great food, stellar people, and a vibe that's out of this world - it's no wonder there's a steady stream of earthlings even on a Monday at 4pm. I'll definitely be back, if not for the intergalactic company, then surely for another round with that burger. Houston, we have no problems here! read more

Am I missing something here? We stopped by one Sunday at lunch because a friend told us how great the burgers are. The inside is definitely the quintessential neighborhood dive bar which I can get down with, when the time is right. Unfortunately, we're sober right now (I know, big woof) so a round of waters it was. We ordered burgers and I ordered mine cooked medium. I opted for a side salad because you know, side salads make it healthy. The salad was fresh and crispy, I really enjoyed it. But the All American burger... dry and plain as all get out. It felt like eating the most mediocre back yard burger at your neighbor's house down the street. The patty was cooked well done and I'm telling you - it was so dry. The Comet Classic was a little more juicy because of the bacon and pimento cheese but still not great. With the burger craze sweeping the nation - I expected more. I would go back for drinks maybe but I will definitely order something other than a burger. read more

So happy we found this gem! Stopped in with my boyfriend after he had a long night of work. It was a Tuesday around 11:30pm and everything near south end was closed or near closing time. We pulled into the Food Lion parking lot to find just a few cars outside the bar. It was the perfect place to unwind. Not too busy. There are tables outside but the bar inside is quirky and cute. Our bartender Joey was super friendly as well. We will be back for sure! read more

Me like! You need a place where you can get a good burger, chat up an authentically friendly staff, and not worry about having to be too hip, pretty, or wealthy. Comet Grill is the place. I tried the Comet Classic :: was there another option for this first timer?! Not massive, but filling. Fries were cut and cooked there which is perfect, though another :45s in the grill basket would have brought the insides perfectly done ... little soft for perfection, but close. I'll be back read more

Yup, it may be over. Just kidding, I would never give a bad review. I was in here with my buddy and he got hit by a dang comet! Talk about sticking to the name! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnyways, there was some extraterrestrial life on this comet, and her name was Adrianna! She was always flying in towards our table ready to refill like a dang flying saucer. And when I asked if she got her photos printed, she said, "bogos binted?". Like wha?!?!? Girlfriend, I'm just trying to eat my all American burger. But to Adrianna, it's probably more like the all Jupiter burger. ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNyways, the ambiance made me say hello to our friends from beyond. Very well priced, and I will be coming back, with my leader as requested by Adrianna. read more

For an industry bar, it's top notch. For a local's bar, congrats, you've got a gem. For the occasional passerby, it's worth a visit just for the vibe. Really quality bar food. Steak salad and wings and fries are all quality! Classic hole in the wall, bar vibes.

Stumbled upon this bar and grill as I went to Food Lion during my lunch break and decided a burger and fries is what I wanted for lunch. It is right in the same parking center as a food lion, so there are plenty of parking spots to choose from. The inside is fairly small, but with bar seating and outside seating as well. Went around lunchtime, and it was fairly busy. I placed my Togo order and decided to head to Food Lion to get my shopping done. I will say it did take about 30 or so minutes to get the food, which was a lot but wasn't such a big deal for me. I got the Comet grill burger, which came with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and pimento cheese. Let's just say it was delicious! The burger itself was just exactly what I wanted. Now I will say that it did get a bit soggy just from the drive there back to my job. Mainly, it was the tomatoes at the bottom that made the bread soggy, so it was a bit messy, but it was delicious, so I did not mind at all. The fries were delicious as well. They had the right amount of crisp to them and were hot and not soggy, thankfully. I would defeintly come back as I wanted to try their wings out. read more

Comet Grill - The All-American burger with the hand cut fries!!! - American Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Comet grill is located off of Park Road in the Food Lion shopping center. It's great for a quick lunch or dinner with a friend or two. The menu is pretty basic, but has the standard grill burgers and chicken. It is not a very large venue, so it's likely not the place to go with a large group. They do offer some bar seating with local brews on tap. Overall, I found it average. Decent. read more

I feel like I'm missing something here. 4 stars for this?? I drove 25 minutes because I wanted to try a new good burger spot. Boy was I disappointed. I'm 75% sure these are frozen burger patties being used. Very dry and 0 pink. The fries were good. Oh $15 for a burger of this quality? What in the world?? My wife ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. She says it was smothered in blue cheese crumbled that it ruined everything else and the chicken was very meh. This was $16!!! We spend $40 for a burger and a chicken sandwich + 2 sodas. I'm not sure how these prices can be justified for a dive bar next to a grocery store. Also just as an fyi there were no servers. I had to order, get drinks, and pay at the bar Personally I'd steer clear unless you are in a hurry and desperately need something to eat read more

Best burgers! Best chicken sandwich! Hand-cut fries and homemade potato chips. Love this laid back casual bar. Great staff and service.

A few people told me to check this place out because their fries and salad are outstanding. So I placed a to go order with special instructions that the the "blue cheese" be on the side. Well long and behold not only did they put blue cheese crumbles all over they also put some sort of dressing on top that should of been on the side. I didn't even eat that salad but just took the fried chicken off it with hopes to eat that. The fried chicken was ice cold!! Despite the salad mayhem the side order of fries I got was delicious. I wouldn't go back though. I tried calling the restaurant and the line kept saying they were busy so I never got to speak to anyone. read more
