I was out wandering the streets looking for a place to chill and watch a baseball game. The lights from Tilt were calling my name. It wasn't very crowded, but it was early on a Wednesday night. Adam welcomed me as soon as I walked in. Very quickly, there was a baseball game on the TV (they had basketball on another TV) and a cold drink in my hand. The entire staff was friendly. There's video golf, darts, and a beer pong table if you're looking to play some games. Full disclosure, they offer you a free koozie for your Yelp review, but that didn't influence my review at all. This bar has beer pong and other games. We went pretty early and it was kinda dead but you can tell it gets busier later. Drinks are just standard, in plastic cups. Not many seats more of a younger bar with standing room only. Lots of music. read more

This place very much served its purpose. We stopped in for a last stop on a night out before returning to the hotel across the street. The bartenders were nice & efficient. We enjoyed playing Jenga here. Drinks options were pretty standard. A DJ started playing halfway through our time there so I imagine it gets quite feisty there, so definitely worth popping in if you're in the area. If you're not looking for a more divey place to end/continue your night, probably not the spot for you but I think if you know what it is it's a nice option. read more

Walked into tilt on Thursday afternoon & had the pleasure to have been attended by Michael Dean. He was friendly, welcoming and very engaged in our attendance. Drinks were good and fairly priced. This little spot is located off of Trade St in between Church and Tryon streets. There was construction going on right outside when we stopped by, so keep an eye out for the sign that says Tilt. As others have said, it definitely has a divey feel to it, and it has the drink specials to match. We stopped in to grab a drink before dinner and were pleasantly surprised. They have lots of seating at the bar and 3 large screen TV's right behind it. If watching sports isn't your thing, they also have lots of games to play including darts, golden tee, pong, connect four, and jenga. Also, they had throwback 90's music playing the whole time while we were there which was another plus for a couple of 90's babies. Of note, we came in close to winter time, but the bartender told us they have an outside bar that's open during the summer time. Matt Spears is the best bartender in Charlotte!!! My sister and I were looking for a place to grab a drink with the hubbies and Yelp took me to this gem. We got a drink at the front bar and danced a little, then we migrated to the hidden back section where we discovered "Spears" (as in Brittney or pickle, as he put it). I asked if they had specials and he asked what the date was and I said, "8/4". So he explained that every 4th they have $4 drinks! $3 domestics and $4 imports & select liquors. Our round for all 4 of us consisted of 4 drinks and 4 shots for less than $30! Spears was so patient and helpful. A lot of bartenders get irritated by drunks...which doesn't make sense because that's 99% of your demographic, but anyways he was dancing and singing while concocting our drinks and it made the atmosphere so much livelier and a happy place to be. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the Charlotte area! read more

I am all for dress codes at certain establishments. They do not bother me at all. However, when not consistently applied to patrons, they make a mockery of the dress code concept, and ultimately the establishment itself. When told I could not enter on July 3 because I was wearing "x", I literally pointed to two different patrons already inside wearing the exact same thing. Came a few weeks ago, there was no security. This week there's security enforcing a dress code that is not on the website. Their specials are also not accurate on the website. The website, just don't even look at. It's a cool, chill, casual bar. They have beer pong, jenga, golden tee, and darts to play while you drink whatever beer they have available. Tilt on trade is by far my favorite bar in charlotte. I'm talking the "i'm a regular" and always recommend it favorite. As a woman, comfortability and safety is big. The security at tilt has always been so friendly and welcoming and make me feel safe enough to go into the bar by myself and have a good time without bar paranoia. The bartenders, bozzie, maia, kay, james and others who's names i have a hard time remembering, are attentive and are the types of bartenders to remember you and your drink. the dj's and music is consistent and talented. Des Dollars (best female dj in clt IMO) on tuesday and other great dj's and artists like Ryan aka Rekemstop. The general manager (middle aged/older man named Adam) is very rude. I asked a simple question about getting 50 percent (I genuinely didn't know the answer, all I knew was the establishment that I work at does get a percentage off). He proceeded to catch an attitude. I then asked the bartender next to him about the discount since he was already having an attitude and then he became even more rude. I respectfully said that he was being rude and that I just simply didn't want a drink anymore. As I proceeded to leave he yelled "make sure you tell your friends too!" Awful. Used to be a good place. Now it's awful service like you're at a college bar. They turn the lights down and it's shady. They don't even have paper towels in the bathroom because it's just a drug den. Dart boards don't work and you have to watch that no one drugs your drink. read more

This is my favorite bar in America. I have lived in Charlotte for 4 years now, and got to know the city experiencing bars in the neighborhood, but never made it here until last year. The rumors of this place though.....insane. Walking in I was greeted by a crowd of Panthers fans and a free round Jameson. Immediately I knew this place was it. After spending just two hours here over 6 rounds of car bombs, beer bongs, and dog fights (the hell is a dog fight?), I ended up meeting my future wife over a beer pong slam dunk she thought was sexy. We love Tilt. It is honestly our #1 spot in all of uptown. With a great location, central to all the restaurants it is the perfect place to stop in and have a after dinner drink with friends. They have a great bingo night on Tuesdays and we always end up having a blast no matter the occasion. The staff is also incredible. There isn't a bartender, bar back or door man who works at Tilt that doesn't smile and is truly friendly there. They have great drink specials and the beer prices are all super reasonable too. First time here and I really am a fan of the Place! It has that Pub bar vibe with a couple of arcade and dart game inside. Left is a long bar and towards the end is a dance floor with live DJ music. I really like the layout and it's pretty spacious. Bartenders are not bad. Drink prices are reasonable $8 shots and up. For ladies, under the bar table there is a hook for your purse. A huge plus! Casual clothing and staff and door people are really cool and nice. Since they were literally next to Hooter's, Tilt allowed us and suggested that we just buy our food at hooters and bring it over there and we can eat at Tilt because it was packed at Hooter's since they were showing the Mayweather fight. SUPER IMPRESSED with that and I was sold! Before midnight they play a little bit of rock. But after midnight they play top 40 or mainstream, hip hop. You can even request. Great music variety for everyone. If you clearly looked around too, they have a tv screen where you can text and your text appears for everyone to see. Cool interactive element. Crowd here is predominantly like mid- late 20s This place is definitely comparable to Florida's America's backyard. Very similar even the crowd. But Tilt in my opinion has better music. The former Liquid Lounge has a new face. Let's see: Nice bar with quality drinks - check. Dance floor, disco ball - check, check. DJ dropping cool tunes and feeling the vibe of the crowd - screetch.... Maybe it was dead on Saturday night at midnight because their 1 year anniversary party is next weekend and the regulars were "saving up for it". But as soon as the floor filled up with guys and girls dancing to the tracks the dj was mixing, he lurched into a hardcore booty music set and everybody scrammed. Plus there was a "dancing" guy in a Def Jam t-shirt and baseball cap that intimidated everyone away. I'd try it again because even though it's small, it has a perfect set up. What the DJ does with the turntables however makes or breaks the evening. That's true anywhere though, so what I'd really be going back for is to test whether it was an "off" night or if the DJ truly has a talent for blowing people off the dance floor by only playing what he wants to hear and not reading the crowd. Which would be very unfortunate for a potentially classy, fun downtown venue. Update: A little birdie told me the following weekend was exactly the same. They could vastly improve the place by getting dj's who like to inspire dancing and charging a $5 cover to keep out the late night riffraff. This could be one of the best nightclubs in town if they did it right. read more
