    Italian Sandwich
    Matt L.

Italian "sandwich" is complete trash.. literally threw it away after 2 bites. No hots, pickles, cherry peppers, oil or vinegar.. and the deli meats are school lunch quality. Also who puts an Italian "sub" on a tiny piece of ciabatta instead of an actual sub roll? For like $15 dollars??? Have they never seen an actual Italian sub? I can get a huge Italian sub covered in prosciutto and capocollo (neither of which were on my sandwich) for $13 max at a real deli as apposed to this overpriced bologna sandwich. Shouldn't have the audacity to even call this an Italian spot.. It's a hang out for teenagers to get overpriced pizza after school. Oh and the cashier forgot about my order so I had to sit and wait for 30 minutes for an order that should have taken all of 3-5 minutes. In summary, you couldn't pay me to come back here again and grazie dio we have actual Italian spots in Boston!

    Disgusting undercooked pizza.

I've been here numerous tines with fairly good experiences. What I don't understand is how a cook allows a raw pizza to leave the kitchen. Raw veggies on undercooked pizza dough and cheese. If I wanted to make my own pizza at home I would have done that. I'm doing my best to support small businesses during the pandemic. How should I justify supporting businesses that don't care?? So disappointed with you, Comella's Belmont!!

    Kale Caesar ($6.99)

I have been going to Comella's since my middle school days and every time I go, I think about all those after-school pizza I had with my friends. Going to Comella's is a tradition I have with my mom whenever I'm in town; however, we usually get the same thing every time so here they are. Kale Caesar: this salad is made of baby kale rather than shredded kale so it is pretty tender. Other than that, there is nothing really different or special about this salad. This salad doesn't have chicken and I don't think it's worth 7 dollars. However, this salad goes well with the other menu items!! Cute Kate's: this pizza is a shrimp scampi pizza and it is DELICIOUS! The shrimp is meaty, it's full of garlic aroma, and the cheese pull is amazing. Putting some red pepper flakes will elevate this pizza. However, it is very oily so I always dab some napkins/papertowels to get rid of some oil. Aunt Issy's Mess: I have tried few of their messes and it's great. It is definitely not the most pretty looking pasta, but I like the different pasta types that are in it. My favorite mess is Aunt Issy's, which has vegetables, meatballs, and sausage. I like that Comella's tomato sauce is very savory and their meatballs are great. It is a good comfort food! 5 Stars for all the memories at Comella's, friendly service, and great pizza!

Margarita pizza with baked in metal wire.

Was our go to place for pizza in Belmont. No longer. Our last pizza had a more than one inch long and sharp metal wire baked into the crust. See photo, which shows the wire sticking out, and one can see that it extends through the entire piece of crust.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. The staff was so rude. They told me this is how pizza is made. This is the online picture vs what I received. I work in the food industry. A pizza made like this would not leave our doors. I'd give no stars if I could. Never ever ever again. Terrible

Five dollar large cheese pizzas are amazing! I might give it five stars but I haven't ventured away from the pizza yet.

I am not sure which aspect was more enjoyable, but the two together made our dinner quite memorable. The location in downtown Watertown enhanced the experience as the cozy, vintage setting in the town- center strip exuded the feeling of a small local family restaurant. We made a reservation and this is recommended since the dining room offers limited capacity. Parking was a little tricky but we found a spot on the street across from the diner. Beware that you might have to exercise a bit of patience in this regard. Because of our reservation, we were seated right away. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job of looking after us all night. My colleague, who had been to this place a few times prior to this, suggested that we start with Ida's Meatballs. It was presented as four decent-sized pieces and they were not only plentiful in portion, but also were quite tasty. For his main, he had the Short Rib Ravioli. The pasta was stuffed quite full with short rib meat. He invited me to try a bite and I thought it was excellent. I chose the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, one of my favorites on American Italian menus. It was terrific having just the right amount of kick. We topped off the meal with dessert. He had tried the Tiramisu before and insisted that I share at least a couple of bites. It was outstanding. I decided on a finisher of my own, however, with the Affogato. It was quite lovely with quality ice cream and good coffee. It provided a right-sized dessert portion for me. Overall, the bill for the two of us that included the food, a glass of wine for me (a lovely Chianti), tax and tip was close to $60 per person. For the quality of the fare, I was not unhappy with this value. I'll look forward to the chance to try this place again. My colleague tells me it is a go-to for him when he's in the area, so I'm sure I'll have another chance to visit.
