    Chicken Parm

I was here at the bar a month or so ago with a friend and had a great experience so I brought my mother here for her birthday and had an even better one! Service is thoughtful and smooth. Food is really delicious and the cocktails are on point. They have one of the best Bolognese - ever. I've also enjoyed their Chicken Parm, Veal Saltimbocca, Calamari. My daughter is 6 and rather picky and loved their pasta with butter and cheese. What really brought me to write this review is I put that it was a birthday in the Open Table reservation but didn't say anything the day of and they brought over a scoop of gelato with a candle -- it really made our night. Nothing like it in Belmont - quite the gem!

As always, il Casale didn't fail us in providing an exemplary birthday meal and mocktail to boot. We've decided that the portions are so large, next time we'll split the half chicken (not pictures) and pasta side! Great neighborhood gem.

A friend of mine highly recommended this place to try it said it was seen on Chronicle. I love that show by the way. I'm glad that I made an effort to bring my husband and have a double date with my friend. The food was incredibly delightful. I had the best tasting pork meatballs, beet, cacio and pepe salads and pasta and the service was very nice and pleasant. We had a $70 bottle of wine which unfortunately I can't remember the name of. It was from Italy. The pasta was homemade and The Bolognese was flavorful and the mini pasta seashell pasta with mushrooms were to die for. I normally don't like Arancini but they're version isn't a huge rice ball with no flavor... it had a lot of depth and and the texture was wonderful. Their fall off the bone ribs were wonderful to as I was able to sample some for my friends plate. I really enjoyed the the calamari as well. I would describe the ambience as upscale-casual at best. In other words, if you want to dress up that's fine if you don't that's okay too.I like the friendly manager and the staff and I really find that they give you a very nice personal service. Will definitely come back again. By the way, they have the best homemade tiramisu...not too sweet!

Stopped in during the first week of outdoor dining during the pandemic and they did a good job of providing a safe and pleasant dining experience. Tables were set up out front on the sidewalk and in the blocked off road. The servers were friendly, working hard, and changing gloves frequently. They provided bread with olive oil wrapped in plastic. We had a couple of cocktails that were pretty good. The chicken parm and bologenese were also pretty solid but not the best in the world. The hanger steak had a ton of flavor but the salad it came with was doused in dressing. Overall a good experience but a little on the pricey side for what you get so they get dinged a star. Give them a try for yourself!

    Sneaky

Good food and good drinks but expensive. Then we find a sneaky "Kitchen Appreciation Fee" on the bill. This fee is not just on the food, but the drinks and sales tax too! This dishonesty ruined the experience - we are never coming back.

Perfect service, delicious food, packed Sunday night with happy folk. My partner loved her salad with tiny clams. A warm and friendly vibe.

We also got the gluten free pasta carbonara (great that they have so many gluten free options for pasta and pizza! major plus), pepperoni pizza (thin crust, very nice crunch), and a bolognese (also good, just a little salty). Also appreciated the customer service. I needed to heat up a bottle for my infant, and they went and got me a bowl of hot water. They also moved some chairs out of the way initially so that we could navigate the restaurant better, and were generally on top of service throughout the night. Really appreciated it!

Immediately seated and waiter(didn't say is name) stated they were busy today and number of items unavailable - no pizza dough(no pizzas at all), no marinated olives, no grilled bread with mussels dish, no ciabatta toast with pesto dish. We ordered drinks, and one came quickly. had to ask another wait staff for remaining drinks 10 minutes later. Ordered appetizers, then placed main order. 15 minutes go by, and I see three dishes under heating lamp. Five minutes later those three dishes and another were brought to our table. My paccheri bolangnese was cold, and prepared with spacatelli pasta - waiter neglected to state out of all pastas but spacatelli. My wife's roasted chicken was very dry(too long under heating lamp?). My son ordered the spacatelli al pesto, but he was mistakenly given spacatelli bolognese. He prefers not to eat meat. We sent that back and ten minutes later he received his correct order. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 10 PM. I can only imagine service and choices given to people with later reservation. MIDA didn't deserve one star, but that option is not offered. you MIDAwant to chose another restaurant if you expect better!

I am not sure which aspect was more enjoyable, but the two together made our dinner quite memorable. The location in downtown Watertown enhanced the experience as the cozy, vintage setting in the town- center strip exuded the feeling of a small local family restaurant. We made a reservation and this is recommended since the dining room offers limited capacity. Parking was a little tricky but we found a spot on the street across from the diner. Beware that you might have to exercise a bit of patience in this regard. Because of our reservation, we were seated right away. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job of looking after us all night. My colleague, who had been to this place a few times prior to this, suggested that we start with Ida's Meatballs. It was presented as four decent-sized pieces and they were not only plentiful in portion, but also were quite tasty. For his main, he had the Short Rib Ravioli. The pasta was stuffed quite full with short rib meat. He invited me to try a bite and I thought it was excellent. I chose the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, one of my favorites on American Italian menus. It was terrific having just the right amount of kick. We topped off the meal with dessert. He had tried the Tiramisu before and insisted that I share at least a couple of bites. It was outstanding. I decided on a finisher of my own, however, with the Affogato. It was quite lovely with quality ice cream and good coffee. It provided a right-sized dessert portion for me. Overall, the bill for the two of us that included the food, a glass of wine for me (a lovely Chianti), tax and tip was close to $60 per person. For the quality of the fare, I was not unhappy with this value. I'll look forward to the chance to try this place again. My colleague tells me it is a go-to for him when he's in the area, so I'm sure I'll have another chance to visit.
