I'm fairly new to Xfinity (Comcast) services. Since moving, I thought I'd try them out. I only signed up for their internet, since I was planning on going with a streaming service through my Roku. I'm so over the cable and Dish/Directv fights with networks, and I wanted all the streaming channels in one place. I decided on using Youtube TV for my basic TV channels. I found that Youtube TV and Xfinity internet don't work well together for some reason. The Live TV (and some recordings even) are jumpy and hard to watch. And I kept getting an error message about the internet connection. And here's where my trouble began...
1st Call to Xfinity - I asked the customer service rep. if they had a streaming service similar to Youtube TV that I could use on my Roku. The lady I spoke to told me no, they didn't have anything like that. And she sounded as if she was really, very uninformed about the Xfinity services altogether.
2nd Call - I call back after doing some research of my own on the internet. Talked to a man who said that they did have something like that, but that I needed to have the Xfinity Flex for the service. He sounded knowledgeable, and told me the Flex box was free, but that it had to be shipped to my home address. Cool...
3rd Call (A little more than a week later) - No package has arrived from Xfinity, so I call. The woman who answered said I needed to go pick is the equipment up from an Xfinity store. Not what I was told, but the woman pretty much said, too bad, I can send it, but you have to wait another 3 to 5 days to receive it. I was annoyed by this point, and I told her so. She didn't seem to care...
4th Call (A little more than a week after the 3rd Call) - No package has arrived (really?) so I call and speak to a man who says, yet again, that I need to pick up the equipment from an Xfinity store. I ask to speak to a manager. I wait on hold for close to 15 minutes, and then am hung up on.
5th Call (Right after I'm hung up on) - Anyone else notice how difficult it is to actually get to a live customer service rep. on the Xfinity phone system? I get through to another person. I ask for the manager again. I hold, again. When the guy comes back on I ask him if he would maybe be willing to get something sent out to me without a problem. After I explain, extremely annoyed at this point, that I have waited for the Flex to arrive for over two weeks, he tells me he can send it to me overnight. And then he makes a big deal out of not charging me the delivery fee. Well DUH!
6th Call - I finally get the Flex (within a day, pretty good!) , set it up (pretty easy!) and call about the streaming service. The guy I talk to tells me I don't know what I'm talking about. (*Seriously, he said that it me!!) There is no such service for the Flex, and that I would need cable (and an Xfinitly cable box) for any service like that. At this point I am enraged, and this guy just keeps poking me, trying to say that it's my fault that I was misinformed. I tell him that all of the representatives seem to be very untrained and uneducated about Xfinity services, since everyone I talked to either has no idea what I'm/they're talking about, and they ALL have different information. I wait to talk to a manager yet again, and he starts talking to me about their other services. When I tell him that I'm not interested, and to please stop talking, he says he has to "up-sell" me (my words) that's his job, and I can choose not to listen if I want. I hang up on him, as I'm not getting anywhere...
7th Call (Almost right after the 6th, once I've calmed down some) - I speak to a woman, explain all that I've been through, and she tells me there is a thing called Xfinity Streaming Beta... And that I can use this on Roku... AND it's cheaper than Youtube TV.
So, in conclusion, it took me more than a month, and 7 phone calls to find out that they do indeed have a streaming service that I can use on Roku. This was my question on my first call when I was told there was no such Xfinity service.
**Please, PLEASE, for the love of all things, PLEASE train your customer service representatives properly Xfinity!!! I would've been paying you guys more, and saving myself some money over a month ago!
Also, why doesn't your streaming app work on the Flex? That just seems stupid to me! The Roku is WAY better than the Flex anyway (so far), but it's new so maybe the Flex will improve. No wonder it's free, seeing as it's it's almost worthless!
I will stick with Xfinity for the time being, but service needs to improve in the future or I'll be forced to go to CenturyLink... Please no... read more
