I've tried Com Ga Houston on Bellaire a few years ago in the Houston location and I still remember the taste to this day, but I didn't have time to go again. A couple of years ago, they opened another franchise in Arlington TX and I was so excited to try but to my surprise, they could not be more disappointed. Fast-forward to today, I heard the original owner is taking over the Arlington franchise, so I decided to give them another try. I'm so glad I did. Their food is excellent! just like how I remember the first time from the Bellaire location. This time I tried their Vietnamese Crepe ( BÁnh XÈo) and OMG! it is soooo good. We ordered our food To Go. The portion for chicken salad and porridge were large enough to share by 2 people per portion. To be honest, the food was good, but the service was terrible. My girlfriend ordered a Chicken Pho, and they didn't bring vegetables and sauce. The girl server has a terrible attitude. She threw the utensils on our table when we were eating without a word. Also, please make sure to CHECK the price of whatever you ordered. I tried the banh Xeo which is massive and very good and crunchy. Their com ga is good and the bo kho (beef stew) is delicious. First time at their Garland location. I have been to their Arlington location before as well. The restaurant is located near the end of a shopping plaza so there's enough parking. We arrived on a Sunday for lunch and they were busy, but luckily we got seated after waiting for about 5 mins. The food here is consistently amazing--flavorful dishes and big portions that really hit the spot. Dine-in experiences have been solid, but when it comes to takeout, it's a real 50/50. Most recently, they forgot a soup in one of our to-go orders and didn't include sauce in either. They also charged us for an iced tea that never came out (though they did remove it from the bill when we asked). Unfortunately, we didn't check the to-go bag before leaving, which we'll definitely be doing next time. We came in for lunch on a Friday and it was not too busy. Maybe it was the hot summer weather that kept others away, but that doesn't deter us from eating noodle soups. Although, they are also known for their goi (salads) as well which could be quite refreshing on a hot day. We were welcomed in as soon as we walked in and seated. Waters were brought out as we looked over the menu. They specialize in chicken and you can eat it with congee, pho noodle soup, rice noodle soup, glass noodle soup, egg noodle soup, or rice. You can also pair it with their chicken salads made with cabbage or banana leaves. Their dressing and dipping sauce are both slightly too sweet for my preference. I do enjoy the ginger in the dipping sauce though. They do offer a few additonal dishes such as the Vietnamese version of Hainanese chicken (com ga hai nam), curry (ca ri), beef stew (bo kho), and banh xeo (crepe). Wanted to eat something light/clean and this was the perfect place to go! Friendly staff (shoutout to the younger server and the gentleman working the cash register). Fiancé ordered #3 (special rice & chicken) and I ordered #7 (special rice & chicken with cabbage salad). "Special" just means they put chicken hearts in the side of soup that comes with the meal. All the food was overall tasty, but I did wish mine had more meat coz it was mainly skin. One tiny complaint, it smelled a little funky (like sewer/restroom) as soon as we walked in. When we first arrived, as a party of 3, we had to wait a bit before we were noticed by the servers even though it wasn't super busy. We ordered the #63 which is a duck cabbage and banana flower salad (the large) and shared it between 3 people. We ordered one bowl of steamed rice (extra charge). Please note the duck is not warm because this is a cold salad. If anything the duck was room temp to chilled. We also ordered a large bowl of their chicken rice porridge (the dac biet).
