One of the worst customer service experience I ever had at this location. I was trying to buy some water repellent shoes for my wife and politely ask for a price check if these shoes were eligible for $20 promotion that I received through their company emailed. This rude female associate with braces just rung it up and when I asked if there was a discount, she just said just wanted me to proceed with payment. Upon looking at the receipt, there was no discount and i asked her did I get a discount with this purchase. She told me that she was not aware of this promotion and that I "demanded" a discount from her. I immediately asked for a refund and she processed it with a smug smile on her face. I told her that I never raised my voice to her and I never demanded a discount. She had no respect for the company and when I told her that I plan to for a formal complaint, she said "go ahead, they (Columbia) will never do anything". So she is basically an incompetent peeson. When I asked for her name, she will never give it. She did not wear her name tag on purpose so she cannot be identified. In terms of corporate, she violates dress code, does not know here promos, has a listening problem, and disrespectful especially when she called me old. I am old but this shows me who she truly is that you would blatantly discriminate old people. I'm a big fan of Columbia products. I own 5 of the Columbia PFG UPF 50 long sleeve polyester shirts, a pair of PFG convertible pants, and enjoy wearing my Grove Heights OutDry waterproof shoes during wet weather. The customer service has been good, for the most part. Unfortunately, there has been an oversight at the Columbia Outlet store at the Citadel Outlets. I was double-charged for a purchase I made on 1/13/21, using my Citadel Outlets gift card. I became aware of it when I checked the balance the following day. I called the store, and was transferred to the manager. I explained the situation, gave the date/time/UPC on the receipt, and was told it would be looked into, but from what she saw, there was not a double-charge. She informed me she would call me when an update became available, and I could also call the following Mon/Tues. Calling back Monday after checking the gift card balance, the manager said no new info on any update, and she insisted she'd call me if/when a refund was given. I checked the balance the next day, and the refund had been posted. However, now being 2 1/2 weeks later, the manager never called as stated to let me know the refund was added back to my balance. I'm satisfied the error of the double-charge was corrected, but keeping your word is important, at least to me. I should have received a call, as I was assured I would. read more

Encountered the most unbelievable employee working at the fitting rooms. The employee was a young Asian lady (probably Chinese?) who had keys and was directing people to fitting rooms and cleaning out rooms. The fitting rooms are genderless. As I was about to try on clothes, the employee opens the door with the key without knocking to see if someone was inside. Then, after I complain to her and told her how wrong she was, she proceeds to do the same thing to another male customer next door! It's pretty unbelievable that she doesn't have the basic manners and common sense to knock to make sure no one is inside before unlocking the fitting rooms. The rooms cannot be locked inside (they are self lock) and can ONLY be unlocked with the key. I honestly have never felt so uncomfortable and violated trying on clothes. And it was done by an employee nonetheless. If it were a confused customer, I could be more understanding. And knowing these are genderless rooms where guys could be right outside, I feel even more unsafe. Please train your employees to do better. read more

There have been times when I scratched my head thinking, "These are outlet prices?" BUT... we usually get the coupons and a few days ago (9/1/15) we saved even more with some ongoing sales. DISCOUNT EXAMPLES We're going camping soon, so I wanted some zip-up buntings (these are like body suits with hoods to go over their normal clothes) for our 1 & 2-year-olds. There was not a single one in stock whereas they have had them there before. We already have a good fleece jacket for the younger kid, so we picked up a bigger size and our 2-year-old loves it. Plus it's so cute on her. - Fleece jacket for toddler: $10.05 (originally $14.90) - Stretch pants WITH back pockets for me: $26.93 (org. $39.90) - Vest for me w/Omni-Heat & Omni-Shield technology: $32.35 (org. $59.90 & online for $90) LIMITED SIZES This is the most frustrating thing at Outlets, of course. I always get lucky, but when I'm shopping for our girls and my husband they often don't have what we want available. DRESSING ROOMS They aren't spectacular, but mostly clean. An employee is usually in the area to open a room for you & get you different sizes if needed. QUALITY Not only are Columbia clothes quality, but they are so comfortable and sturdy for all of your outdoor activities. They sell activewear for virtually every season of the year, plus the following: shoes, socks, hats & beanies, gloves, sunglasses, backpacks & other bags, and hydro flask bottles, but not much more than these items. Mainly Columbia is good for clothes. The hydro flask bottles supposedly keep hot liquids for 12 hours and cold ones for 24 hours. We bought a couple for $17.55 apiece (org. $26 each). They hold 21 ounces and are BPA free, double-wall vacuum insulated, do not sweat, 18/8 stainless steel, and have lifetime warranties. We'll see how they work. Great friendly staff and they are also enforcing faces masks along w/ indoor capacity. They are wiping the counter and pin pad for every new customer. They have items that you can't find on their website. Decent prices, some are still too expensive for me. But if you're a baller, knock yourself out. Definitely a place to get some gear for hikes, snow, fishing, rain etc. My only suggestion would be to try the items beforehand as sizes it vary a lot depending on the item. Horrible store policy that if you paid by PayPal online you can only get store credit when you return something. You would have to return the items by mail to receive your PayPal credit. I rarely take the time to write reviews on retail stores because I've never felt the need to comment on a shopping experience, but this visit to Columbia has left me feeling a little disappointed. But let's start with the good! First, I love Columbia. I absolutely love that they even have an outlet available here at Citadel! With that being said, I come into this store with the expectation that it'll be full of huge savings and discounts and they are rightfully so. The store organization is great. There's no guessing involved as to which side is for men, women, children, or accessories. I wish that they labeled their apparel more though. It would be nice to know the SLIGHT differences between jackets and at least their name so if I decide I want to come back and purchase it, I'm not just going to say it was "the pink windbreaker jacket with zipped hand pockets." Now the bad news... The employees here are very sweet, I'll give them that. But they are VERY unprofessional. I was browsing the women's section and came across this woman who kept cursing and talking about how she so badly needed her aspirin but forgot it in the car. Then she continued to complain about other things that annoyed her with her friend. Now normally I would have shrugged this off if it was another guest. But the problem is that it was an employee... I only found this out because a third employee came up to the two and they started gossiping and talking shit about a coworker who called out sick. If you're going to gossip on the job, at least do so from a distance where you won't disturb your customers OR leave a negative impression on them. At another point during my time here, I went to the dressing room and came across a young girl (maybe 6-7 years old) who was obviously related to the employee that worked there. It took me a few minutes before I was even issued into an empty dressing room because the employee was so "preoccupied" with her visitor. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, the store makes sure it's Covid safe by making sure people are distanced in lines and by wiping down the card reader and counter top in between customers. This poor review is based upon very bad customer service from Columbia! I bought a Columbia jacket several years ago and the zipper broke. When I originally contacted Columbia Customer Service they said the zipper would be covered under warranty and that I needed to ship it to Columbia (no store drop offs like North Face does) and it would be repaired and sent back to me. After I packed my jacket and spent $25 to ship it to Columbia, they sent it back to me with a note saying the jacket could not be repaired. Really what happened was, Columbia chose not to repair my jacket. If I knew there was a chance they would not repair my jacket, I never would have wasted my time and $25 in the first place. Next, when I called customer service about this, they said I should resend the jacket back to Columbia and ask for a credit. I have no intention, however, of spending another $25 in the (unlikely) hope of getting some kind of store credit. The Columbia jacket was thrown in the garbage. I am very disappointed in Columbia and intend to buy from North Face in the future! read more

I'm pretty amazed at the customer service in this store. All the employees are knowledgeable on the gear and also asked everyone if they needed some help. I could have sworn that I got to talk to three different associates and all adding additional information about a type of jacket I was wondering about. The Citadel is the only out let location in the Los Angeles area. This Columbia Sportswear is a little bit small but it does try to fit a lot of items in here. The selection is wide with a variety of sizes and if you are in the mood to go out and play in the snow, this is a pretty cheap way of finding nice jackets and pants that are under $60.00! The only thing that was disappointing in the store is that they don't have many sizes. My brother is a small, but they had very limited quantities available. There weren't many jackets in small, so it was hard to find something for him. It was on the weekend and since there was a sale the place was packed. The store was a little messy at the time. The good thing I got from there were socks. The socks seem very durable and feel soft. Thanks to a tip from my fellow Yelpmiga, I had gone to check it out and was really glad I did! I needed a pair of good quality hiking shoes, since I've gone back to the game of hiking & attempting knocking out newer & some challenging trails, my cheapy TJ Maxx/Ross hiking shoes weren't cutting it. To my surprise, they were also having a sale, 30% on selected shoes for men, women & youth, all kinds, low/high tops, waterproof, trail runners, etc. On top of that, if it's your first time going there, they ask if you want an additional 10% just for signing up to their free membership. I found exactly what I needed, (plus waterproof, even though the cashier kept stating their weren't) and was shocked at the original price and the heavy discount I got on them!!! Yay ya!! They have nice little selection of clothing as well, haven't gotten that far yet on buying any, but the shoes are just the beginning, I'm coming back! Also scored on a nice little insulated coffee mug, a lot less that Starbucks & Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (I can't believe people spend close to $20 bucks plus on those coffee mugs!!!). If you plan on only going to this store, make sure to go before the weekend, at the Citidel, it is a mad house weekends & parking can be very painful. I only wish they'd have more of these stores out here in So Cal, you will find them at the desert outlets as well. read more

Really a strange experience here this morning. I got there about 10 minutes before they opened and waited. A couple minutes after 10AM they unlocked the doors for us to enter. I shopped for about 20 minutes and then wanted to try on several pair of shorts and pants. An employee sweeping told me the fitting rooms did not open for another 10 minutes. When I spoke to the manager, he said the fitting rooms would open in 10 minutes because employees were on break. The manager was stocking hats and there was a person standing behind the counter at the register with no one checking out in addition to the employee sweeping the floor. Seems to me like it would've been really easy for them just to unlock the fitting room door and let me try on my items that I likely would have purchased. I put my potential purchases on the counter and walked out. I have purchased here multiple times in the past without issue. Columbia is my favorite store at the Citadel Outlets, not only is it huge they have sales going on year round so it's a must do every time I stop by at this Outlet. Since I do a lot of outdoor activities, I'm always looking for clothes to layer or jackets to either keep warm, dry, cool and protected year-round while outdoors. They sell a variety of clothes and accessories from hiking shoes, water containers, blankets, gloves, beanies, backpacks and even luggage. I love that I can always find a good deal on a jacket or hoodie for half the price as it would cost me elsewhere. Their Omni heat technology is something that I love as well. The staff here doesn't go out of their way to help you so the service isn't all that great, but the discounted prices is what keeps me coming back. read more

I always come here during the winter off-season to stock up on my snowboarding gear. They usually have sales and extra discounts that is always nice. I'm a huge fan of their jackets as they keep you warm and is of high quality! The only downfall is that they run out of smaller sizes pretty quickly. Aside from their great prices, the staff here is super nice. The staff always ask me if I need help and they often help me look for stuff my size in the backroom if it's not on the sales floor. I found great hiking shoes on sale for $39.99 . On top of that, when I checked out the cashier asked me if I wanted to join their membership club (which is free) and of course I said yes. I received an instant 10% off my purchase! ( In retrospect, I should have bought more gear!!) So that was great. I'll be coming back to Columbia. As I returned I was denied entrance back into the store. My mom inside the store explained that we were ready to pay and that I was with her and I had simply gone to the restroom. The worst experience I've ever had, never going back to this store again. I rarely take the time to write reviews on the customer service of a retail store, but what my mom and I experienced was ridiculous. On Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 between 4-6pm, my mom and I go to Columbia to purchase winter clothing for my move to New York. I head to the dressing room first and my mom joins me shortly after with a couple other jackets to try on. She comes into my dressing room, and we try on the jackets together in one room. My mom then leaves to get a different size for one of the jackets. By this point, we have been trying on clothes for at least 30 minutes. Not a single employee had stopped my mom from being in the room with me. When my mom comes back, I hear a female employee (Christina Cerda) tell my mom,"You can't have two people in one dressing room." My mom says, " Oh ok, well let me change and come out." The employee continues to say in a very rude manner, " You cannot be in there. You have to change outside." My mom says, " All of my stuff is inside, let me change and then come out. We've been in here for 30 minutes and no one has told us anything." The employee continues to yell at my mom after she comes into the fitting room to change out of her clothes. The employee yells, " If you don't come out, I'm going to have to use my key to open the door." I then hear the doorknob jiggling like someone was going to break into the room. I had no pants on and my mom was changing out of her clothes. My mom comes out of the room and asks for her manager. She tells the manager what happened and that Christina tried to open the door while we were changing. Christina then pops up and says,"Did I do that?! Did I open the door?!" As if she was trying to pick a fight with my mom. The manager (Stephanie) apologizes but when she is asked, " What do you think of your employee in this situation?" The manager says, "She is a very hard worker, the hardest worker in the store. I only heard your side of the story so I cannot say." Obviously unsatisfied with her answer, my mom asks for their names and if there is another manager above her. Stephanie says no, she is the only manager. Furious, my mom and I proceed to the register. As we were paying, a manager was asked to come restart our transactions. To our surprise, a male manager (Will Britton) comes over. After our transactions are finished, we ask him, "Is there more than one manager in the store?" He says, "Yes, but I am the main one." We then tell him about the horrible customer service experience we received in the dressing room. He listened to us and was very professional and apologetic. He asked for my mom's phone number so that he could give her a follow-up call after he spoke with Christina and Stephanie. He then offered us two 30% off passes. As we are driving home, my mom gets a call from Will. He says that he spoke with Christina and Stephanie, and that it won't happen again. He also said that he made sure to let all employees know that if they do not enforce the policies, it is not the customer's responsibility to know them. What my mom and I experienced was harassment. This is not about customer service, but basic respect from one person to the other. The manager Will Britton was very professional and helpful but Christina and Stephanie left us with the most negative impression on the store. Think REI on deep discount. This outlet store is the biggest of the Columbia outlets in so cal, and they get all the end of season stuff the other outlets can't sell, and then sell it at a crazy discount. Near holiday weekends, you get an extra % off their already low prices. While they won't have the entire REI store of gear and such, they do have the basics like hats, flashlights, gloves, etc. and lots and lots of apparel and shoes. Right now they have tons of adventure pants and cold weather jackets. I got a pair of ladies zip off pants for $15 when the same cost me $89 at REI. That's killer! They carry mens, womens, and childrens sizes with a decent selection. Their store might seem empty sometimes, but it's because they move so much merchandise! They get new shipments in constantly and so their stock changes and is always getting replenished! read more

I stopped here to see if they had any good outdoor gear for my boyfriend since he goes fishing and camping so much - plus its getting to be colder weather! I was mainly looking to see if they had jackets on sale. but I was disappointed. The store itself is really big and well stocked, I was just let down because I thought they would have had better discounts. The only things that were really discounted were your average long-sleeved shirts that you can get at like Target or kids clothes, which obviously wasn't what I was looking for. They were boasting about their BOGO 50% off all jackets - but I personally, don't think that's a great sale. All their jackets are like $200! So $300 for two jackets isn't a "sale" to me - not by any means. I probably would have given this place a higher rating because while I didn't like the prices, I liked the store and how everything was clearly labeled and displayed. But the employees were not welcoming or helpful. I saw four or five employees walking around, but not one ever talked to me or asked if I needed help. Layout: The floor plan of the store is very welcoming to the eyes. A big wall divider separates the Female/Male sides of the store and signage featuring discounts are easily readable. Selection: They have a good selection of product, but I feel that the outlet located at the Camarillo Outlet is a bit bigger. Customer Service: It was a welcoming surprise having a greeter at the door offering a mesh shopping bag. The rest of the staff seemed very professional as well.
