I've been on both sides of the Maxsold auction business model. The seller managed sale is…read moredefinitely the way to go if you can't understand the real purpose of Maxsold. Maxsold is a company who gives people's cherished items a second chance of being loved and cherished by a new owner. The process is fairly simple and the results are driven by the seller!! The Maxsold standard process involves a team of employees who typically spend two days on site to catalog and photograph the items for the seller/client. This scenario does relinquish control of the grouping of items to Maxsold experts, but the end result is still the seller/clients items get a new life with a new owner. The only bummer is that everything starts at a dollar, for the seller it does seem like a small amount, but the end game is empty the space!! For the buyer it's a shopper's paradise!! The other side of the process is being a bidder or a buyer. I have some phenomenal items that I have always wanted and never found in the thrift stores and couldn't afford them in the antique shops. I have a multitude of cake plates, random decor items and some really cool pieces of furniture! I like be the bidding process and while the photos in my region need a little improvement, they are much better than a year ago. The teams are super friendly and helpful! Would I contract with Maxsold if I needed to downsize, yes!!! Would I recommend them to people I know? Yes I already have!!!!!

Pickup time/date windows are unnecessarily and unreasonably short. Staff is curt and unresponsive.read more

I've dealt with Dave Thorn and the Small Traditions team for the better part of two years. He and…read morehis staff have done a professional job with my consignments, and certainly earned me much more than I would have received on eBay for my modern baseball cards. I've also bid on (and sometimes won) multiple items from Small Traditions. The bidding process is easy to understand and all fees are clearly written on the website. All my transactions with Small Traditions, both as a consignor and bidder, have been 100% positive. I've worked with some of the larger auction houses as well, and Small Traditions without a doubt provides the best customer service of them all.

I had worked with Dave Thorn of Small Traditions LLC. In Denver, Co. in the past when I gave him…read more$38,000 dollars worth of cards to sell. We completed a deal which took almost two months for me to receive all the funds I was owed. I had to constantly call and ask what was going on and felt like I wAs getting the run around. Everytime I asked for some money I was met with 15 reasons why he couldn't pay me. It was a very frustrating process for me because I never expected to have to wait so long to receive the funds. I honestly never planned to use his site again but after persistent emails and phone calls I gave in and let him sell A Michael Jordan PSA 9 rookie which is going for $2700-$3385 range on eBay. I sent him the card on the 22nd of August and the card sold for a substandard $2246 which I'm clearly not happy about. On the 15th of September I called Dave and left a message which got no response. On the 16th of September I called again and got no response, but left a message asking for him to please call me back. I called the office number and no answer. On the 17th I called in the morning and afternoon asking for a callback. I called the office number twice with no response. Finally Dave emailed me Back on the 17th almost a month after the card got sent in and sent me an email saying how he detests when people call his cell phone to get paid. Sounds like it happens a lot...... I told him I don't like not getting responded to for three days and he told me sorry I am in the middle of putting together a half million dollar auction. So he cut off communication and than belittled me Bc he was doing a half million dollar auction all Bc I called asking what was going on with the money. Well after getting an email from Dave Thorn in eBay asking me to send him a private email and than recruit me to sell my items on his site so I could save 15% in eBay fees. I was a little skeptical Bc it was clearly unethical what he was doing and once someone does one shiesty move they usually have a few more up thier sleeves. Needless to say it is Sept. 18th and Dave has written me an email and said he will not be paying me the money he owes me, $2246. It's not really a surprise for a guy who steals his customers off eBay and whom told Me to shill bid my auctions in January "the more it sells , the more we both make". Sellers beware : 1. he gets your items and takes forever to pay. 2. Avoids your calls and doesn't give you any info 3. Terrible customer service 4. Refuses to pay me for auction 5. Acts real nice in the beggining , when he is getting you to consign your item than becomes impossible to deal with. I have filed with the Denver BBB and eBay has been notified of his actions. Ripoff report and consumer complaint are next and the list goes on. Avoid this sneaky business , don't fall victim to this scam like I did! Now he's sending me emails saying he is gonna use my money to Sue me but everything I've stated in here is 100% true!
