Long wait for your pizza! Average wait 2 hours! They make you drunk first then your pizza will arrive.

I've been to Colony in Milford before and thought the pizza was pretty decent. My boyfriend and I were around downtown Fairfield so we stopped in for a quick lunch. I got the bacon pizza while he got the meatball. He was disappointed for 3 reasons - for how little meatball there was on the pizza, for how tasteless the meatball pieces were, and how off the crust was. I mean really, 2 small pieces of meatball on a slice? The meat was under seasoned and the crust was a little underdone compared to mine. The service was good, there is parking out back and I was able to pay my bill from my phone which was convenient. Unfortunately I will be skipping this place next time and trying out a different pizza joint if I'm in the area. read more

Pleasantly surprised at this place. The pizza was unique and delicious. The crust was chewy and crispy at the same time. We tried the meatball and hot oil pepperoni. We also tried the Gluten free pizza. I would highly recommend read more

Oh man, Colony Grill. So many pizza places in CT and yet somehow this place is unique: hot oil personal thin crust pizzas. Hard to describe really but altogether delectable. Grab a personal pie and a frosty drink with friends. That's what this place is all about. Special note on the always fabulous service: Jonathan and James (who was only in training) were great. read more

This place came highly recommended. I don't get it. Average at best. Maybe good for someone else but not my favorite. read more

Their super thin pizza is ridiculously good. We had 1 pie topped with hot oil and stingers (peppers) which was delicious and tongue-numbing. We had 1 pie with bacon and pepperoni - definitely the best pizza of my life! I always order the bacon and pepperoni combo at pizza places, but Colony Grill's version deserves an A+. Super crispy and perfect. Awesome location in downtown Fairfield near the shops, bookstore, gazebo, ice cream, train stations, movie theater, etc. read more

There is absolutely nothing wrong with pizza and if that's what you want then definitely come here. The pie is good, BUT, that is all they have. The use of the word Grill would suggest otherwise. They don't! read more

I am not a fan of stingy this place has gotten with their toppings. This is the cold cut definition of mediocre, overpriced, and overrated pizza. I would much rather just buy a cheap frozen pizza from a grocery store and call it a night. In addition, the tap here has issues. If you order a beer or a soda here, it is noticeably flat each and every time. On almost every occasion, I have had to ask my server for a new drink because my initial one was bland and flat. Considering that this is a bar that has been here for over a decade, it should be expected that this restaurant has an issue like this figured out by now. But no. read more

My wife and I ordered takeout from Colony Grill in Fairfield on a Saturday afternoon while our son was having a play date at the nearby Sandcastle Playground. I'm from the New Haven area so I was raised on New Haven-style Apizza. My wife, however, is originally from Stamford: home of the original location of Colony Grill. She was raised on this style. Colony Grill's specialty is Tavern (or Bar)-style pizza. Tavern-style is not just found in one specific location. This style can be found almost anywhere in the country. Its origins are cloudy, but the style was popularized by several bars, taverns and pubs by putting pizza dough directly into a shallow pan. What you end up with is a personal-sized pizza with a cracker-thin oily crust. Perhaps the inventors of this style thought that if the pizza was really thin then that would leave more room for beer. Colony Grill offers a wide variety of toppings for their pizza, but they are most famous for the Original "Hot Oil" Pie. Hot Oil is chili-infused olive oil. The standard "hot oil" pie is a plain mozzarella pie with a drizzling of the hot oil and then garnished with a "stinger" (fried Serrano pepper). Anyways, my wife and I have only ever eaten at the original location, but we haven't had Colony Pizza in maybe 10 years, so it sounded like a good idea to have some again. I called in the takeout order when we were at the playground with our son. They gave us a wait time of 20 minutes. Upon arrival, there was a decent amount of parking in the back and I parked in a "Take-out Only" (10 Minutes Max) parking spot right next to the back door. The place was hopping when I walked in, and it smelled great. My pies were done by the time I walked in. I drove back to the playground and we all had a delicious pizza picnic lunch. My wife ordered the original "hot oil" pie, I had the same thing but with extra "stingers", our son and his friends shared a plain mozzarella that we ordered "lightly done", and our play dates' mother ordered a meatball and onion pie. We were all VERY satisfied. It was a great day. read more

I'm so glad to see the spot still doing well. When ever I'm by a Colony Grill I make it a priority to stop. One of my favorite pizza spots!!! The way they make their pies is incredible. The sauce and cheese go to the very edge making the edge super crispy and cheesy. When you go you have to get the Iconic Hot Oil pizza! You won't be disappointed. Highly recommend Colony Grill in Fairfield, CT ** Service was top notch and the waiter was friendly and never let our drinks go empty. read more

To answer your question, yes, the pizza is great! but not worth the wait. It is crowded no matter the location, and the wait is always forever. Both times at different locations wait to be seated is always 30+ and then once your in its so packed it's hard to get help. The drinks menu is super small. The pizza makes up for it as it is a perfect personal size! read more

I finally got around to trying Colony Grill last week. I didn't realize that the menu is literally all pizza, which is fine because that's why we were there, but it would've been cool to see some diversity. The hot oil pizza, which is widely revered, was solid, though I have to admit that I prefer New Haven style to this kind of bar pizza. The crust hardened a little faster than I would've liked and ended up giving my jaw a good workout. But in the end it was tasty and the staff there was friendly. read more

Avid customer of the Stamford location but I was in the area and placed a large order last night. Disappointed would be putting it lightly. You would think with so many people working that someone would help with the door when a customer is walking out with such a large order but nope (mind you it was dead inside). That was the first red flag. Second was the quality of the pizza it was by far the worst tasting colony I've ever had and I've grown up on colony Stamford. This pizza was 1/2 the size of the box, Pringle thin, and the taste and presentation was off. Definitely won't be coming back to this location that's for sure. Disappointing. read more

Hot oil + mushroom pizza = happy me. Great beer section, I got to try one from a local CT brewery. If I lived closer, I'd be here every weekend! Delicious food, super fast service. I like how casual the setting is, this is a great spot to bring a group of foods for a bite. read more

Sausage & Pepper pizza was delicious! With 2 domestic beers- $28 including 15%. Great service. Clean comfortable surroundings. A good selection of music that's loud enough to hear, yet low enough so you can easily talk. I love this part of Fairfield. Fairly affluent and not at all snobby. No screaming unsupervised kids. Like much of Westport Parking can be difficult. It's worth it. There's a lot going on. You may even be distracted and go to another restaurant or tavern. read more

This was my first time at this location, as every other time I've tried to go it was always too long of a wait. A Saturday afternoon for lunch was perfect. Our server was attentive and the food was great. I got a pepperoni pizza and my boyfriend got meatball. We got a side of hot oil to drizzle on as we wanted. It was nice and quiet when we were there, with more families and less college kids. Would definitely return. read more

Great vegan pizza !! Thin crust, vegan cheese, and delicious. Happy they continue to have vegan options. Some like to add the hot oil over the vegan cheese but I'm basic so it's perfect just the way it is! read more

Colony grill pizza isn't for everyone, but if you like thin crust pizza you might absolutely love colony grill. We usually order the hot oil pizza and the salad pizza. I'm not a huge fan of pizza overall, but if I were to get pizza I love the salad pizza. Instead of vegetables being cooked in the sauce, they put a really good salad (as in the dressing is reallllyyyy good) on top of pizza (always add sauce and cheese for best taste). The hot oil is a solid somewhat spicy pizza. The pizza tastes very eh if it is made for takeout bc it cools down and looses its flavor a lot. read more

Fantastic atmosphere, pizza, and all other menu items that we tried. Definitely recommend.

Love love love the thin crust pizza. Salad pizza, yes! Great for families. My grandson is extremely fussy and loves this. He and I had date night there, he's 7 and a lot of fun! Take out is better, just because it's very loud when busy. Acoustics? Service was above average. Therefore, food and service great. It's just so noisy! I guess they have no control over that. I adjusted to the noise level eventually. Don't stay away because of that and miss out on the wow pizza. So it's not a warm cozy hole in the wall. Parking in back and seems to be plenty. Yes, I'd go for it! read more

I was never a huge pizza gal but Colony changed that for me. I would never be the one to suggest getting pizza for dinner but now when someone mentions Colony I get excited. Ordering is pretty simple. You can basically only get pizza and you just choose what topping you want. A regular cheese pizza is $9.75. Each topping is an additional charge of $1.50. They have specialty pizzas such as breakfast pizza (only available at certain times in the morning) and salad pizza. You can see this on my attached photo of the menu. You can usually get a seat fairly quickly at lunch. However I usually go during dinner and it is always a wait. You cannot call for reservations. If it is a longer wait when you arrive, you can put your name down, give your phone number, and go around to the other stores nearby. They will text you when a table is ready but make sure you are on your phone and get back quickly. This thin crust "bar" pizza is so delicious and I recommend you come try it. read more

They are now on point & on par w the ORIGINAL spot in Stamford. See my pizza list if you care to delve into my hardcore pie philosophy: http://www.yelp.com/list/connecticut-pizza-fairfield The sausage or stinger pies (pan roasted seranos) are popular as is the hot oil- my very fave- w tangy sauce, good amount of cheese, very thin crust but I wouldn't say cracker-like w a slight chewy texture. Listed as "Bar pizza" category: http://slice.seriouseats.com/archives/2008/01/a-list-of-regional-pizza-styles-slideshow.html#show-85728. Great long bar. Exposed brick, 1930s style lighting, booths. Seasoned bartenders. Many TVs. Solid beer choices. Nice waitstaff. Varied clientele. My only rant: This is a BAR & restaurant. Why do Fairfield moms & their underage kids find it necessary to fill up BOTH the bar area & the restaurant??? Screaming whining ill mannered children in the bar area is just slightly irritating @ best. So because these suburbanites feel it's imperative to invade everything- you will have to wait, wait, wait for a table/booth & then when you FINALLY get to sit down you will have the pleasure of endure chatty moms & their ill behaved children. Not my idea of a good time. However, I love this true bar pie! read more

Great thin crust pizza thats actually affordable in Fairfield! Stinger pie was awesome if you love peppers.

Came here for lunch with some family & friends on a Sunday, got there at a good time to get a good spot to watch some games. We were nicely greeted and they were able to accommodate our group with a child with a good sized table by the window. The manager was also nice enough to turn the tv channel to a particular game for us to watch as well. Nice looking restaurant, clean, nicer sports bar kind of place. Menu is pretty basic with pizza being the main and only item. It's build your own pizza style, a list of toppings you can choose from. Base price for the pizza and each topping you add is extra costs added to the price. Whatever, just look at the menu and you will figure it out. We got 3 pizzas among us and that was plenty for a group of 6. We just got a bunch of mixed toppings that we thought would pair well, we even got anchovies! Not a big fan of anchovies, but it was ok. Pizza itself was pretty good, thin crust, crispy and perfect for folding it in half to shove in your mouth. Service was fine, friendly and quick to get anything additional we needed. Checked on us often, manager gentleman did as well, so overall...a nice place to come have a pizza. Glad we came by this place to see what CT offers in pizza, A-OK in my book! read more

Colony is always good! Good service! Good pizza! I love how open the Fairfield location is set up as far as seating. I ordered the salad pizza , with sauce, added hot oil to it as well. Yummy! Absolutely fantastic pizza. All pizza is not the same and Colony Grill has perfected their version. Hot Oil pizza is a must. Their staff is great to match the magical circular cheese covered disks from heaven. The pizzas certainly seem personal sized and I can confidently take one down but best to be patient and take some home. Its just as good the next day. When things find their new normal, hopefully the full vibe and energy of Colony Grill will be able to return. It's a very popular pizza place according to my relatives in CT, so we give it a try for an eatly celebrating Mother's Day dinner. 28 minutes wait seems reasonable given the popularity. Food comes fast enough, but boy the crust is so crispy and thin which made me doubt " is this a pizza?" We talked to the waitress and she joked the people made the pizzas must be working out. Hmmm, not the reaction I expected. Not so sure it is a store for return visit. read more

What can I say? I love Colony Grill! They used to be in Avon, CT and we were so sad when they closed! (still not over it!). So we go out of our way to go to Colony Grill whenever we're remotely close to one. One thing to know: they only serve pizza. The pizza comes in one size and it's pretty much just for one person or 2 not too hungry people. There's no menu - the toppings are listed on the wall. It's thin crust pizza. Not sure what they do to make it so amazing, but we love it - especially with sausage and cherry peppers! read more
