After - All fixed by Colonial. NOT TOTALED!

My car was towed here from another (terrible) garage at the request of my insurance company after an accident. Thank goodness! The guy a the other garage told me the car was totaled and made me remove the plates. I was so traumatized by my experience with them that I didn't feel I could trust anyone. Thankfully, Monica at Colonial was so kind and receptive. Once my car was in Colonial's care, it was smooth sailing. They were professional, efficient, honest and KIND - especially kind. Kindness counts. Thank you Colonial.

    Equinox love it!!!!

Extremely Concerning Service and Diagnostic Practices…read more I am writing this review to document a highly unsatisfactory and costly experience with Acton McGovern Jeep regarding my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon (120,000 miles, consistently and meticulously maintained). In early November, I brought the vehicle in for diagnosis of a P0420 code. The dealership charged a $365 diagnostic fee, replaced an ignition coil (another $500), and reported that the engine checked out clean. The code was cleared, and I was told the issue was resolved. Within five days, the vehicle began misfiring, and a subsequent inspection revealed crosshatching in a cylinder and catastrophic, irreparable engine damage, due to coolant leaking through the head gasket and into the cylinder. Damage of this magnitude does not develop spontaneously in that timeframe, raising serious concerns that the initial diagnosis either missed or failed to investigate underlying causes. I was then without a functioning vehicle for four months due to the engine being on national backorder. No loaner vehicle or compensation of any kind was offered during this extended period. During the repair process, the assigned technician (Jeff) ordered over $2,000 in additional parts without my authorization. Only after elevating the matter to the service manager was I able to limit my payment to the originally quoted $12,000. It is troubling that such a significant unauthorized expense was initiated without consultation. Most concerning, after the engine replacement was completed, the original P0420 code reappeared--the same issue that prompted my initial visit. This strongly suggests that the dealership never addressed the underlying problem from the beginning, calling into question both the accuracy and thoroughness of their diagnostic procedures. The sequence of events points to negligence, which may have directly contributed to the engine failure and the resulting financial burden. Throughout this process, interactions with both Jeff (service technician) and Chris (service manager) were marked by dismissive, argumentative, and evasive communication, with consistent avoidance of accountability or clear explanations. In summary, my experience with Acton McGovern Jeep involved: * An initial diagnosis that failed to identify or investigate root causes * A catastrophic engine failure shortly after their service * Four months without a vehicle and no support * Unauthorized ordering of over $2,000 in extra parts * A final repair that still did not resolve the original issue Given the severity of the consequences and the lack of professionalism demonstrated, I cannot recommend this dealership.

Steer clear of McHover Jeep Chrysler in Acton, MA! Unlike…read moremost people, I actually don't mind car shopping, and I sold cars a very long time ago. I'm being detailed so potential customers can decide if they want to do business with McGovern, and maybe someone will avoid being taken advantage of by them. You may want to check the MA Attorney General's website, and the consumer affairs section. It is possible to search and locate consumer complaints by product type, and then business. I did this after my experience out of curiosity, and noticed McGovern dealerships had a significant number of complaints. After speaking to Hana on the phone (turns out she was the F&I person) I drove to the dealership and met the salesperson. He didn't need to do much as I already had driven the same vehicle and had done my research, etc. I was ready to purchase. He was polite and the only positive part of my visit. The salesperson had a manager look at my trade, and then came back with a number that was about than 5k less than another Chrysler dealer offered just a few days before. (If wondering, the other shop could not locate the specific trim level I wanted, which is why I did not purchase the car at Central Chrysler Jeep in Norwood. Overall, my experience at Central was much, much better and I would return to Central without hesitation). On their worksheet, and without any discussion, McGovern added a "protection package" for just under 3k to the deal. I really didn't think too many dealerships still tried that type of stuff. Sure, let's just add this line here for 3k and see if anyone notices! I asked the salesperson to remove the protection package and to return with a fair offer on the trade, or to let me know if that was their final offer on the trade, so I could go home. The salesperson came back with a more reasonable trade offer, but the protection package remained on the sheet. Did they think I would just forget about the protection package? Interestingly, there was never any discussion about the protection package. They didn't even put effort in to actually sell it....they just added it to their worksheet. I then asked about the financing rates, and could not get a straight answer from Hana. She wouldn't even provide a range or an estimate of what rates they had available, based on having excellent credit. Her answer for why they could not give information on what rates generally were offered was nonsensical. Next, I simply stated I would finance the vehicle outside of the dealership. I was told by Hana that "it was the policy of her boss that they did not allow outside financing." I've purchased a lot of cars over the years and I've never heard that one before. In fact, if I had given a deposit, and they required internal financing, this could have amounted to a violation of the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Statute based upon some additional research. The games ramped up a bit more, in predictable old-school car dealership silliness. While speaking with Hana and asking some other questions about their "internal financing only" rule, another salesperson walks up to the main desk with a piece of paper. I was standing at this point and saw the paper was either blank or turned upside down. The dealership was quiet, and I had not heard this other salesperson on the phone in the background. I'm then told they have another customer that was very interested in the car and that this other salesperson had a deal working on it. Wow, what a surprise! I could not get a price from them on the phone earlier, but although there were no other customers in the dealership, now there is suddenly another deal and millions of people no doubt lined up to buy the Pacifica I was ready to purchase. I suggested they sell it to the other mystery shopper as I was headed out. Watch out if you decide to shop at McGovern. Their business practices are definitely concerning. I suggest shopping elsewhere!
