After paying full listed price (​​$76,995) without haggling, ​​for a​​​​​ used 2025 GMC 2500hd truck. On the ride home I had multiple issues. Check engine light came on Tires were way out of balance and shaking on the highway. Roof marker lights had water inside them ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Heated steering wheel barely got warm keys were not programmed correctly to the vehicle and had dead batteries in them The window tint on the front windows was illegally dark and had to be removed ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ At leaving the truck with them for 2 days they only fixed the key programming, leaking roof lights, and check engine light. I was told they will not balance the tires or pay me back for having them balanced and that the steering wheel is fine at barely warm. The guy a the other garage told me the car was totaled and made me remove the plates. I was so traumatized by my experience with them that I didn't feel I could trust anyone. I have been going to this dealership for service for 40 years. Today I took my car in for an oil change only and I supplied the oil filter. The bill came to $295 including a charge of $17.05 per quart for Mobile I motor oil and $121for labor. I know Mobile 1 can be perched for about $7.30 per quart so this is a 233 percent markup for oil...a complete rip off for oil and labor. When the car was completed I open the door and the drivers side floor rugs was covered in grease. I call the service manager over and the car was taken back into the shop to remove the grease but some residue still remains. Needless to say after 40 years I will not be using Colonial Chevrolet in Acton, MA ever again!!! I give a rating of 0 stars read more

I went to see a used car last weekend and was initially very happy with the customer service. I met with Jacob who was very nice, straightforward and genuine. I had other appointments lined up so didn't end up going through with a deal that day. I corresponded with Jacob over email with a few follow up questions and scheduled another appointment the following weekend to see about finalizing the deal. Jacob was away on vacation so I ended up speaking to another sales rep and the sales manager (whose names i forget unfortunately). Long story short it was a complete 180 as far as customer service goes. Not friendly at all, and bordering on hostile once they realized that i was intending on negotiating instead of outright purchasing the vehicle. The words "I can't help you" were used and no effort was put into being friendly or polite about it. If buying a used car from here, beware that they seem to be completely inflexible with their pricing, even if you do intend to finance with them. I ended up walking away because i wasn't completely comfortable with the price of the vehicle, but even more so because the attitude of the sales people i dealt with this weekend was horrendous. Even if they weren't able to move on the price of the vehicle at all, had they been nicer and more tactful in how they responded to me i likely would have purchased the vehicle at their price point anyways. I walked out more because I was surprised with how rude they were to me rather than trying to have a normal conversation. It completely put me off of doing business with them. The saddest part of this is that i was intending on writing a good review of this dealership initially. I wish I could have done business with the original sales rep, Jacob, the whole time. Took my GMC Acadia in on 11/30/2023 for a rattling sound. On 07/03/2023 the same rattling sound was present and was told the exhaust bracket could be welded. This time I was told the weld could not be done a second time. In addition, my main rear seal was leaking Quote for the exhaust was $1,100.00 and the quote for the rear main seal was $3,200.00. $4,300.00 total. I declined both services. On 12/04/2023 I brought the Acadia to a mechanic who I trust. There was no evidence of a main rear seal leak. NONE. Furthermore, he found spot where the exhaust bracket was welded on 07/03, cleaned up the area, and welded it again, properly. This cost me $0.00, and a little bit of my time. I went in there twice. Once in the summer (to get my car) and another time in January (to get the oil changed and the 4 pieces that had to be replaced since my car had hit 60k miles). Both times I was hit on and made quite uncomfortable. The first time I went in there I had my grandmother and my cousin with me. Matt waited until he was handing me my car to ask me out (we both had shared that we were in relationships, and no openings were made for him to feel free to ask a 20-year-old out to have drinks). The second time, Robert helped me since I had an appointment to get my car all fixed up with the oil. HE WOULD NOT STOP! At first he just complimented my smile, which is fine, but then when I mentioned my fiancé he had to say "Oh I wish you didn't have a fiancé" as if I would date his old ass. Then, at the end of the service, when I went to pay for it, he made sure to tell me that I was his type, made sure to tell me that he wished he was 22 years old so he could date me, and kept on mentioning that he wished I was single. I felt HIGHLY uncomfortable since I was simply being polite the whole time and did not give him any openings. THIS IS NOT OKAY! I hope they change their behavior and start acting like decent people who are on the clock. Luke Ealey treated me as if I was a V.I.P. from beginning to end. He made sure he understood what I was looking for and he was very honest about each vehicle he thought I would like. He really listened to me! I have only good things to say about Luke and Colonial Chevrolet. Everyone really went out of their way to make sure I understood the paperwork I was signing and they answered my questions with in-depth explanations. About 2-3 weeks later the compressor on my 2020 SUV's A/C unit inexplicably died. They immediately had a new one ordered, delivered and installed in less than two days. They really do honor all aspects of their extended warranty, unlike some other dealerships my friends have dealt with. I can only say good things about Luke Ealey and this dealership's integrity and honesty as well as the quality of vehicles it sells. Would I purchase another vehicle from them in the future? I can't rant enough about the easy, quick, and effortless process was. Ive been searching for a Chevy Traverse for about a month. The issue i was running into at other dealers was the trade in value for My Honda CRV as i was trying to keep my car payments under $350. I found the Chevy Traverse listed on their site for a great deal per Car Gurus, i called and spoke to Joe Pellegrini, scheduled a time to meet and test drive the car. Tuesday: 4:30pm arrive met Joe in person, and test drove the car. As we were in the car test driving i told him i have a 4 year old and time is my biggest obstacle i don't have much time going back and forth. I was straight forward with him, the major deciding factor is the trade in value for my car. Tuesday : 4:50pm back at the office, he showed me the numbers for the trade in they were offering, and the pricing very was fair compared to other dealers i had been too. Tuesday: 5:15 completed the credit application. and left since most credit unions were already closed. Wednesday : 9:30am. Got a call from Joe with the interested rates i was approved for, and i agreed to go forward. He told me i could pick up the car after work. Wednesday :12pm my insurance company calls me to confirm transfer of insurance. Wednesday: 4:30 i arrived at the dealer, signed the RM1 form, he quickly got my car registered before the RMV closed, i signed all the loan agreements. Wednesday : 4:45pm- My car was now registered and he quickly got it inspected before the mechanic crew left. Wednesday : 4:50pm- had a coffee and waited for my car to come out. Wednesday: 5pm: My car is was ready to go home. Joe linked my car bluetooth to my phone, showed me all the bells and whistles and i was off the lot by 5:15. Joe Pellegrini made my car experience like no other, a TOTAL of 1 hour and 30 mins between two day to test drive, apply for a loan, sign loan forms, register and inspect a car. Came from Maine to lease the exact Chevy Bolt I was looking for and had done all my homework. I worked with Jim the inventory manager who was very courteous, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. There were a number of opportunities for him to work the price against me as in any car deal, but he never took those. He worked my monthly down to my range, wrapped extra costs into the comparatively low cash down, and even delivered the car half way to Maine at no cost. I've bought probably 15-20 cars in my day and although this was my first lease, it was one of my easiest deals. My mantra when car buying is "never be afraid to walk away" but Jim never gave me a reason to do that. Also, the Bolt itself has proven to be amazing. Well built, solid, easy to learn and incredibly fast. (I would actually put this against my 1990 Porsche 911 for speed off the line and handling in traffic). It is also roomy (I'm 6'6") and stylish. Having been a Ford and import owner all my life I never thought I would say these things of a Chevy, but they are all true. I use no gas, and pay about 75% less per mile for energy in the end. read more

Beware the body shop. Shoddy craftsmanship, shady customer service. I own a 2014 Passat purchased elsewhere. This body shop replaced the car's hood in mid-2016. The top of the hood began rusting rapidly (yes, rusting) by the end of 2017. I sent Colonial Chevrolet high-resolution photos of the rust, and they then insisted I drive out to their shop to "see it in person". I drove an hour to them, only to watch them inspect the damage and after 3 seconds declare it "normal wear and tear". They then proceeded to tell me that other cars on the road don't rust simply because "every car is different". They recommended I cough up $400 for a new paint job, but said that this will likely just happen again because...wait for it..."it's normal wear and tear". Begs the question...what planet are these guys from?! My insurance company felt so bad, they hooked me up with another body shop and comp'd the entire service. read more

I had a very good experience buying a new Chevy Volt from last week Colonial. Luke Ealey was my sales rep and is their expert in EVs. If you have an interest in learning more about Chevy EVs (Volt/Bolt), I highly recommend Luke as he is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He wasn't pushy at all on the sales side and was very happy to take time with me and my family to talk about the cars and allow us to browse the different models (they had a great selection of Volts). When it came to pricing, I felt they offered me a very fair deal on the first time around and was happy to give them my business. The buying process itself was quick and pleasant. I can't really speak to follow up or service experiences at this point as I've never owned a Chevy before, but I'd stress again that if you're in the market for a Volt or Bolt, Luke would be a great person to go see! read more

This review is for the bodyshop: I chose to send my Subaru Impreza here for bodywork due to a hit-and-run since the place that does my maintenance works with Colonial Chevrolet and I figured it would be less hassle than finding a place on my own. I used to take my car to Ciro's in Everett and they're not there anymore - I honestly miss that place. Anyway, it was not only way more hassle than I'd imagined, but the repairs were delayed twice - the initial estimate time was two weeks from pick up to drop off (reasonable) and the actual time was 3.5 weeks. In the meantime, communication on the status of my repairs were very poor. I had to call them ON the loose estimated completion dates like, "hey can someone tell me what's up with how repairs are going?" Right off the bat, the person who took care of paperwork was sloppy with communication, not being able to locate email attachments (photos, signed documents) as well as a faxed document. Then, this pseudo-sketchy thing happened where John (the man in charge of bodyworks) wrote an estimate update for me and his document said my insurance was covering the repairs, but when I called my insurance adjuster to double-check he said the bodyshop told him I was paying out of pocket. I take huge issue with Colonial speaking for me to my insurance adjuster about me paying out of pocket because that was not a call for the bodyshop to make on my behalf, and one I had not agreed to especially since the document given me stated otherwise. John chalked it up to a "typo" on the document, and I did catch the discrepancy in time to work it over with my insurance but this also costed valuable time to sort out and could've been a costly "typo" if I hadn't double-checked. Furthermore, the second delay was even more frustrating. I was getting my bumper replaced and it was a shock to get a call the day before my initial estimate date of completion where John told me the new bumper they ordered "looked like it was run over by a truck." So of course I have to wait for a new part to arrive but like, what?? It's unclear whether the part arrived damaged or was damaged at the shop somehow since I didn't get many details. At the very least this inspires some doubt on the actual legitimacy of operations at this place and, coupled with lack of active communication, seems poorly organized at best. Getting repairs done after a hit-and-run is stressful and expensive enough as it is without the extra cost of time and effort to deal with asinine delays and poor customer service. I will not be coming back and I don't recommend this place. If you are thinking of coming here because you take your vehicle to Cityside Subaru - DO NOT DO IT - it's less hassle to pick somewhere in the immediate Boston area. read more

This review is for their Auto Repair. I was recently hit and had to work with commerce insurance to find a body shop for my Nissan. Since the Nissan dealership doesn't have a bodyshop, I had to work with their partner: Colonial Chevrolet. I had an extremely negative experience with the gal who coordinates getting the car from the tow shop and thus decided last minute to have my car sent elsewhere. They were very difficult and unpleasant to work with and didn't leave me feeling like my car would be in good hands. They wanted me to sign a form that authorized them to perform body work to my car that wasn't on the estimate without notifying me first. They could have said that it was a formality and that they WOULD actually contact me, but they never agreed to that. I thought it was weird, and finally called another shop (who is also a preferred commerce vendor) and they don't work that way. They look at the car and THEN get authorized to do the work. I certainly won't ever take my car to this dealership for work, and won't recommend it to anyone I know. Not sure why customer service isn't a priority here, but it should be. There are lots of shops to choose from in Boston. read more

I was shocked to read a negative review on Colonial Chevrolet. I've had all my service done there for many years and they couldn't be any more fair and professional. They're a new car dealership, so I expect the price to be a bit more than Joe's gas station down the street, but I prefer to have my car worked on by factory trained mechanics who know the vehicle. When I drop my car off for service, they always offer me a ride home or whatever I need. When I'm in a hurry and have to wait, they're usually able to get my car right in the shop and get it done quickly. I am so unhappy with my service at this dealership. I moved to the area right before the snow storms and unfortunately had to buy a car after mine was totaled. I was only coming in for a oil change and tire rotation which I was quoted a specific price. I felt taken advantage of and do not understand why I was charged what I was. The guys in service can be very nice, but it is a dealership, so expect to pay a bit more than you would at your local mechanic. Dexter is not kidding, they charge $95 to tell you what's wrong, even when you walk in and TELL them what's wrong. You may want to discuss this charge BEFORE handing over your keys. If you HAVE to take it to a dealership, you're going to pay extra, so you may as well go somewhere where the people are nice and they get it done in a reasonable time. My only issue is that for the $$ that they charge, they should leave your car looking nice. I took it in for a repair and when I got it back they left the inside pretty messed up, tossing the charger and iPod cables on the seat and the floor mats all skewed. read more

From the first phone call through the final sale (which we accomplished in less than 24hrs!) my sales representative Luke was attentive, knowledgeable, a pleasure to converse with, and most importantly listened to my requests. Just picked up a 2012 Volt and my salesperson, Luke, was awesome! Knew everything about the car and you could tell he genuinely loved what he does. Great sales guy and truly made the dealer experience painless, and this is coming from someone who HATES dealerships. Luke helped me get a great price for my trade in and an amazing price on the Volt. While Colonial Chevy is a bit out of the way for me, the service and friendliness of the staff is considerably better than at my local Chevy dealership which I refuse to go to even though it's significantly closer (1 mile from my house). From now on Colonial Chevy will be my go-to dealer, I really can't stress how simple they made everything. I just financed a Buick from Jim and along with it being an absolutely beautiful car, the experience was really great. I'm in my 20's with little credit, so my mom co signed for the loan and he was really helpful in walking us through the process and what everything meant. He was also really really nice and not pushy at all which I really appreciated. It seemed like he seemed more concerned about what I liked and making my mom and I comfortable vs just pushing a Chevy and making a sale. So I'm glad I left with the car I wanted. Comical bait and switch, here goes: We saw an add on truecar for a new but last year model Suburban Premiere at 56k. We call and text with a manager named "Alex" and tell him we want to 56 k suburban and he says come on up we will be here. So we drive 2.5 hours to the place with two kids in tow. They get the car, we drive and all is good until salesman (not "Alex") whips out his original MSRP of 84k and so (all correct so far) and then at the bottom shows me where it's discounted to 76k or so. I say uh no this was listed way lower on truecar we talked to Alex yesterday. he says i'll be right back. Comes back and says well that truecar listing is an average of great deals around the country not what we have you misunderstood it's actually 64k. I showed him the screenshot from Truecar where it is listed by VIN number and tell him he is wrong. He leaves and comes back and says well we will do you a favor and give it to you for 60k. Claims TrueCar must have made a mistake. We left. Wasted all day on this bait and switch and "Alex" never showed up to apologize, reason being it was all on purpose. Do not go to this place. There was a more elaborate set up to the scam from confusing financial paperwork and elaborate explanations about how I am actually the one who will be ripping them off but that would take pages to write. No one was hostile or belligerent they acted all innocent other than "Alex" hiding in the back and never coming out. But it was a frustrating and bad experience. So, I very rarely write reviews and when I do it's to praise a business for great work however I could not, not report my experience as I do not want the same thing to happen to someone else. Let me start my saying that the interest rep and the sales rep were GREAT! What pissed me off was the finance guy Michael's pushy attitude. His insistence of all the WORK he did, his annoyance with my hesitation, complete ignorance of my other preference to the Cruze which was verbally expressed to him the night before which he completed ignored, repeatedly telling me about the crappy deal I got on my current car and assuming that I rolled over negative equity to get my current car, which I did not. In addition to assuming I current pay over $500+ in a car note which I do not (I pay $315). In addition to his multiple reminders about how my car is so unsafe and the Malibu was a better safety car. Note my car is a Chevy sonic, I was at a Chevy dealership how can you say that a car that you sell (cause they have 2014 models -the same year as mine- on their inventory list on their website) is unsafe. Who does that. He told me the bottom line that THEY wanted to sell me a car and I wanted to buy one, and yes that's true but I should buy the one of my choice and not the one he tired to BULLY me into. Also, he continue to say that I must not have been serious about buying a car, simply because insisted on thinking the deal over and talking it over with friends. So when I insisted on leaving and thinking the deal over he stated that they are interested in selling me a car and what had to happen for them to do that. He asked if I wanted to drive the Cruze (the car I was interested in), but in the same breathe said that he wouldn't be able to get me such a great deal and the value isn't as great as the Malibu. When I said no then he left to talk to the store manager then he came back and offered to show me a Equinox. Now this too was white and I later found out it was the only one. It was a 2016 car that they used as a customer curtesy car. The car was not clean and definitely looked used. I was almost insulted by this. Why would I go to a name brand auto dealership and purchase a used, dirty vehicle for over $20,000 ? He also insisted that if I didn't sign today that he wasn't sure he could get me the deal again. I'm like yeah, ok. Well I'm willing to take the risk. I was so turned off. Pisses off really. Here I was looking for a new car and was completely treated like rudely because he wanted to earn his commission which was VERY OBVIOUS! I will NEVER step foot in that place again. The sales rep was great and really tired to smooth things over but after being insulted multiple times by the finance guy I completely don't want to give the company my business. If they are comfortable with putting someone like that in the finance department where that individual would have to work closely with customers and he has not concept of what good customer service is, then they don't deserve business. read more

Financed a 2015 Chevy Suburban for $37k March 2, 2021. Within a few weeks the Air Conditioner and Condenser failed and had to be replaced. Obviously they covered it. A few weeks later the spark plugs and ignition coils were throwing codes and all had to be replaced. Colonial wouldn't cover it so we brought it to a local shop for $1200 repair. A few weeks later, engine was throwing codes again. This time brought it to Colonial and they wouldn't cover labor but would cover parts. Another $2000 down the tube. Here we sit less than 11 months of ownership and the vehicle is dead. Brought it to Colonial because the transmission wasn't working. Colonial said they can't fix it. Recommended replacing the transmission for $5400. Going back over the Carfax from when we purchased the car... we realized that Colonial did a bunch of transmission work to the car. Go figure. Now here we are with a $29k outstanding loan, and a vehicle we cannot drive, and a dealership that 'cannot fix or repair' because 'we don't have a transmission guy on staff.' What a wonderful dealership. Needless to say we are not happy, and I made that pretty clear when I went there to pick up keys and have it towed out of there. They offered zero assistance and were of zero help. Absolutely flabbergasted at this horrible customer service. Additionally, when my wife called to ask about our vehicle as it had been sitting there for a few days.... the service guy unloaded in the following order....'sorry our old service manager has been out with covid for 3 months. We lost all of our service technicians recently. Our new service manager's wife died.' This is their level of customer service.... to throw down sob stories on their customers in the hopes that they will just 'go away.' The vehicle we purchased was serviced by this dealership since it had 3000 miles on it. They were proud to tell us that when we were going through the buying process. This gave us some comfort that they new the vehicle and we were in good hands. Obviously we were way wrong. The cocky finance manager raised his voice at my wife for asking him to use her bank for financing... which was a very odd exchange. It should not be legal for a dealership to sell a car two weeks after they did a bunch of transmission work, and not disclose that in the sales conversation. We feel completely blindsided by this unethical dealership. Stay away. read more

We recently bought a pre-owned Impala at Colonial. My husband and I were both very pleased with our experience. We dealt with Dave, who was personable, knowledgeable, fair, and respectful of our needs and wants. He gave us his full attention and treated us like we were buying the most expensive car on the lot (which we didn't). The best thing is, we are loving our "new" car and it proved to be a reliable car during the Blizzard of 2018. The one "negative" we experienced occurred when setting up our payment plan. There had been a misunderstanding about how many months we wanted on our loan. We had said a three-year loan, but the finance man we spoke with had understood we wanted a five-year loan. We reiterated we wanted a three-year loan, whereas it was stated that the interest rate was the same for both. We persisted, stating we just wanted to pay off the car quicker, and could he look into this? He needed to make a call to someone, where the three-year loan was okayed AND the interest rate WAS a bit lower. Any little bit helps. However, I don't want to dwell on this, overall we were very satisfied. We had gone to a dealership up the street prior going to Colonial, where we didn't get that positive vibe. Looooong story made somewhat short: We purchased an off-brand used vehicle from Colonial. Car seemed decent, negotiation went ok (took several hours, but I've dealt with dealerships before so it was expected), and our sales guy was fine. We went through the purchase on Saturday and were scheduled to take delivery on Monday afternoon so that they could do the registry running, detail the car, fix a few things and give it an inspection sticker. When we went to pick it up, that's where things started going wrong. First, we had to wait a few hours because they weren't ready. Second, it wasn't inspected because they had to jump start it and the computer didn't have enough data to complete inspection. Third, their detailer ripped off the window tint removing the window sticker. Colonial is 90-120 minutes from my house, so not wanting to make this 3+ hour round trip again, we took the car as-is and agreed to get it inspected and the tint repaired on our own, and Colonial would reimburse us. We got the car home and quickly realized that there was a problem with the headlights. This is where I'll abridge the story as much as possible. We brought the car back and took a loaner. They had the car for FOUR WEEKS trying to fix the headlights. Communication sucked. I would regularly call the office and be told "we'll call you back in an hour", and I'd never hear from them until I called again. I was never once proactively called with an update. At one point I called a sales manager (Mike Sparks) and he answered the phone while he was at a party. They brought the car to another dealership for more expert analysis, and that dealer did a better job of keeping me in the loop. They gave it back to us and the headlights still didn't work correctly. Gave it back to them, more repairs, still no success. During all this, I'm driving their absolute piece of garbage Chevy Equinox with broken power steering and screwed up electronics (backup camera always on). All in, I probably spent 15 hours driving back and forth to their dealership. My options at this point were to report it as a lemon and have them buy it back, or take it back and deal with it myself. I chose the latter. May have been a stupid decision considering it was under warranty, but I was sick of dealing with them and just wanted to take my ~$17k car home that I had already been paying for for a month. read more

I told her my parameters and she stayed within them and got me EXACTLY what I wanted for the price I needed it to be. I will say this with all seriousness that buying a car is a huge pain in the ass. I will say that the guys over here at Colonial Chevy made the process smooth and seamless! The best guy there is Luke Ealy. Some weird guy named marty attacked me while I was still in my car movings forward. He said I'm marty and threw his business card through my window. That set me off in a wrong mood. Luke came up to me actually asked my name and how I was doing. That was nice. He asked what I've owned before and about who else would be in the car with me. The purchase of the car was smooth as can be. They bought my old trade and Brian was a great sales guy. Recently my car had a brake issue (makes high pitched noise when driving on the highway). I was told the brake sensor had burnt out and although the brakes did not need to be done the only way to fix it was to do the breaks ($400). They told me this wasn't covered on warranty and were very rude about it. Then when I escalated the issue to a manager they said the brakes needed to be done and there was no sensor issue. Also after I left ALL my sensors stopped working: seat belt sensor, air pressure sensor, and abs break indicator. read more
