***** TEN STARS ***** - Mike at Andy's Auto is a godsend. - My car was in an accident, and while a local body shop completed the body work, they couldn't manage the mechanical issues. I found Andy's Auto on my own, and I am super thankful that they exist. This is your local auto shop that really knows what your car needs and can diagnose and resolve all kinds of mechanical issues. - My car wasn't shifting, and it was making weird noises. Check engine light was on, the whole deal. Mike took care of it all. While my crummy insurance company didn't help at all, Mike resolved all of my car's issues and did a heck of a job doing it. - Mike has extensive experience working on cars, especially Subarus and turbocharged vehicles. This was especially awesome to learn, given that my car is a Subaru Forester Turbocharged. Mike knew his stuff. He showed me all the things that needed attention and broke down the cost. He didn't make any repairs until I saw and authorized them. He showed me parts that were worn, explained why they needed to be replaced. He even does tires and balancing. It cost me a bit to have this work done, but Mike isn't going to screw you over. He's passionate, energetic, and truly enjoys his work. And as an added plus, he brings his awesome dog, Clifford, to work. Clifford is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and super super friendly. I am a dog-guy; I was more excited to see the dog than my car. - But yes, this is the type of place that I wholeheartedly recommend. It's the type of place that makes me grateful for a place like Yelp where I can spread the word about such an awesome mechanic. Let me start be saying that my poor Hyundai has 266 THOUSAND miles on it. Whenever it acts up, which is to be expected, Andy's is the place I trust. Honest, realistic and fast. When my starter went during the last big snow storm I had AAA tow it to Andy's and they called me back right away with a diagnosis and very reasonable estimate. Highly recommended! read more

Finding a Car Repair shop where the tech's are honest and do good work is getting harder and harder to find. Luckily Mike and Dean are two outstanding guys who do honest, reliable, superb work. My wife's car was in dire need of some repair - leaky steering rack, brakes, you name it. I brought it over to Andy's and explained to Mike what another shop had mentioned needed repair and all the symptoms. Mike said he'd look it over and call me with what he found and get the ok before making any repairs. About 30 minutes after I dropped it off, I got a call and Mike told me a new steering rack WASN'T needed(Like the other shop did) and all it would take to repair the car is some new hoses. Talk about refreshing! I picked the car up later that day and the invoice was inside the car with all the details, as well as a list of some other things that Mike and Dean noticed that may need future repair. It was extremely refreshing to take one of our vehicles here, and to get a straight, honest answer as to what was and wasn't working. I can't say enough nice things about two of the finest Techs out there. This is definitely a place you want to use! read more

I wish there were a no star rating... Stay away from this place! Their "mechanic" Mike kept our car for 9 (NINE) days, and told us each and every day 'it will be done tomorrow'. He knew we were from out of state and took FULL ADVANTAGE. After leaving my car w/him 9 days ago (to REPLACE OUR KEY!) our new key was finally 'ready'- but his estimated $150-300 job (to make a new key) came in at around $900. I had no idea what his original quote had been to my husband, so I just paid it and left our other car there as per our plan, to fix the tire light. (We were desperate as I had to leave town the next day- tomo-and my light was on) Mike (same "mechanic") told us it would be a simple fix, less than one hour (so we expected it to be done by 10 am- ish). I gave him all day, then went to pick it up at three PM, and he walked me in to pay (AGAIN!) $150- but when I got into my car- the light was still on. He said all it needed was to be driven more- but after a trip from Groton to Southborough and back, that light is still lit up like a Christmas tree. He also (for some crazy reason?) traded our license plates from one car to the other- thankfully my husband caught this and traded them back? We feel completely duped by a guy who smiled while robbing us blind. We will see him in court. read more

If you're looking for an honest, fair and good mechanic this is the place. My daughter broke down on her way to school and I had her car towed to this location. If you've been in a position where your car is disabled and your need of service you know the feeling. These guys quickly diagnose the problem and no attempt to inflate the bill or stack on other service needs. They had the car repaired and back on the road the same day. From now on I'm taking all my vehicles to these guys. They are knowledgeable, fair, and provide great service. What is most impressive is finding good and honest mechanics. This is my first time writing a review about a business but I feel compelled to put in words how extrordinarily lucky we are to have two excellent mechanics in our town of Groton. I have been a repeat customer of Andy's Auto over the years after having not such a nice experience at another mechanic in town. Mike and Dean are two of the most reliable, hard working, honest and ethically minded mechanics I have ever met. Whenever there is a problem, I know I can go to them and get the problem fixed pay a fair and reasonable rate and be on my way. Just recently, my daughter was involved in an accident and we had her vehicle towed to Andy's Auto. In desperation, we had to buy an older, used Toyota. Mike asked me to bring the car in before I bought it so he and Dean could look it over. After a thorough inspection, they told me what they found and I was able to negotiate a lower price for the car. When I went to pay Mike for his service he said ,"no worries, I just wanted to make sure you had a safe car for your daughter." Where do you get service like that? These guys are the real deal. Mike and Dean are extraordinarily skilled and knowledgeable, fair and totally honest. Plus their prices are very reasonable. They actually recommended I not dump more money into one of my cars and go get something newer -- good for me but not so profitable for them.
