Cameron was extremely honest and told us that we didn't need to get our engine splash replaced (the plastic covering under the car). He said that while it provides a little bit of protection, to get it replaced would require getting the bumper replaced as well...which would be quite costly. I had some damage that left a huge piece of plastic hanging off the underside of my car, which made it difficult for me to drive. Love this place! Have come here a few times over the past few years and have been impressed every time. Cameron and Brian really took the time to answer all my questions and explain all my different options to me, and let me know which repairs were higher priorities given that I had financial constraints. They squeezed me in and repaired my taillight when I had a busy schedule, and didn't even charge me for some of the quicker fixes on my car. Great ethical auto body shop that does a supper job on repairs! They have worked on two of my cars and both jobs were well done.

The staff was very polite and professional! My vehicle had exterior paint collision damage. Went allover town to get quotes for the damage on my Camry. Cooks Collision quoted me $1900 for the damage. I went to a few other places and was treated the same, I guess because everyone thought I was some dumb girl who doesn't know anything about cars. My uncle owns a body shop, and I've worked there for 3 summers. After being insulted by everyone in town, I came to A-1. They found me a used door immediately and quoted me $552. . While I did not have a personal experience at A-1, I have a close friend who took his Infiniti sedan here after his brother banged up the car in two separate accidents. Brian and his shop did a fantastic job with the work; they replaced both bumpers and fixed the hood, all flawless work. The color was blended in well, though upon closer inspection, the metallic flakes/pearl pattern of the new paint was different from the factory paint. I've came here twice for quotes regarding body work and have always been given the lowest quote by Brian, the owner of the shop. Definitely the best bang for your buck. Another neat thing they did was detail the entire car inside and out before they handed the keys over to my friend- pretty impressive. He had a lot of swirl marks on his paint and some nasty stains on his leather, but it was all gone. If you guys get in an unfortunate fender-bender and want it fixed, seriously consider A-1. read more

I have an older model car, and not a lot of money. The side mirror was broken loose over 6 months ago, and I tried to tape it back because I was afraid I would not be able to afford to fix it. I needed to have a hole drilled in a trim piece for a back up camera. I had first stopped by Cooks Collision in Davis, but they told me they could not do it because they warranty their work (they said it was for liability issues, but I don't know what could possibly go wrong with drilling a hole in a non-structural trim piece that I had already removed). They actually recommended that I stop by A-1. The staff at A-1 are all very friendly and professional. I was ready to pay for the work, and they did it for no charge! Now if I or any of my friends need to get body work done, I would recommend A-1 in a heartbeat. read more

I'm very pleased with my first experience at A-1 Body Shop. I was T-boned so my car had denting on the back quarter panel, the rear door and part of the bumper. There was a lot of scratches all over, the rear wheel was misaligned and the hubcap was destroyed. Customer service at A-1 is great; I was warmly greeted. I brought my car in on Monday, they said it'd take one week, and I got a call back one week later that it was ready. I'm no car expert, but my car looks and feels like new again. They also vacuumed the interior and sprayed something on the inside because now my car smells great. The only con - which is an understandable one - is that there is a long waiting list. When I came in to make an appointment, I had to book about 3-4 weeks in advance (not sure if this is standard at other shops). read more

Cameron was extremely nice and easy to work with, he got me the most complete estimate for the lowest price and kept the price of the original estimate the same when it took me a couple months to get the money. Very professional and honest business! I got a huge deformation on my car door fixed. The actual price came out to be around 90 bucks less than the quoted value. The just automatically charge me the actual price without 'showing off' to me. The are quite busy though. I waited for about a month after getting a quote. They are quick though, dropeed in my car Monday noon and got the call Thursday afternoon and I can see their efforts to finish before the weekend so I can use my car (they close on Friday). I have become a repeat customer at A-1. I'm glad to say each of my experiences have been consistent with my first visit! Brian is friendly and professional, and quotes very fair prices. He does not upsell the work and in fact, will suggest less expensive repairs if applicable. Recently, I used Brian for two sideview mirror repairs. A less reputable shop might have tried to sell me a complete replacement unit rather than a much less expensive cover for my mirror. Brian also charged me for the few minutes time it took him to install the mirror part, rather than a set minimum labor rate. To echo other positive reviewers, "Go here before you go anywhere else!" This place is the real deal. I came in with my mirror mechanisms acting up, and Brian came to my car and worked his magic and fixed it. He didn't even talk about money or anything of that sort. He walked out and tried his best to accommodate for my needs before ever thinking of asking for money. He ended up just doing it for free. A1 Body Shop is outstanding. Last night vandals sprayed blue paint on my truck and several other cars in the neighborhood. My neighbor called me because I was away at work. So I called A1 for advice, and within 15 minutes, they walked three blocks to my house and cleaned off the vandal's paint. I couldn't believe it! No one does that kind of thing anymore, or so I thought. And years ago, they did an excellent job fixing a big dent in my 4Runner. A-1 is an owner-worker shop. He's been in Davis longer than I have - 1981. He is amazing. In short, we have 4 drivers, 3 cars, and yes - with accidents, both by us and by others. A-1 always provides the lowest estimates, the best quality. Sometimes, the insurance company of another person pays, sometimes our insurance company pays, sometimes we pay :( ; does not make any difference.
