Great, honest mechanic shop. Brought my Audi sq5 here because it had some water damage to the electronics of the trunk. 2Bennett Audimotive advise me to talk to my insurance as it might be covered. Turns out they were right, the insurance covered it and they were able to work with us and the insurance company easily. They even took the time to wash my car before picking it up, thank you guys. Stopped by to have them add a quart of oil, charged over $50. A couple days later check engine light came on, brought my Audi back to the shop and was told it was "extremely unlikely" they caused this(most likely by over filling the oil), and was charged another $200 to "diagnose" the check engine light and remove it. Basically was charged over $250 to add a quart of oil, total BS! This shop should be ashamed of themselves to be conducting business this way. Definitely won't be coming back, thanks guys! read more

I was looking for an APR dealer to put a tune on my 2017 VW GTI and it was either 2Bennett or some spot up in Roseville which was much further away. I sent them an email last night for a quote but I figured I'd just run out there this morning to check it out. Showed up at about 9 AM and met Dan Thatcher who just happened to be the APR specialist at 2Bennett. I was very lucky as he wasn't even suppose to be there on Saturday but he jumped right in to help me out. After listening to my needs he wrote up an estimate, which was close to what I expected no matter the dealer, AND told me since it was early and not too busy that he could do my tune right away! I purchased both an ECU and TCU tune which took about an hour and a half to complete. A short walk down the street was a little diner so I had some breakfast and fielded a few calls from Dan about this or that option. He was great about explaining the options and even better at making a recommendation based on his experience. Everything went great and he even found the remnants of a nesting animal under my bonnet! Additionally I almost broke my neck on the way home when I put my foot down a bit too hard. SO QUICK! Highly recommended. Just go. read more

What an amazing shop! I've been looking to get a little extra oomph out of my VW so I called 2Bennett for some advice. Had a great chat with Dan who spent the time to ask all the right questions, gave me some options and even steered me away from a few more expensive upgrades that would be (I'm paraphrasing here...) "fine if you're showing the car but nothing you'll actually feel from the driver's seat...". He did make a few suggestions -based on his encyclopedic knowledge of VW's/Audis- that I hadn't considered but I NEVER felt like he was trying to sell me something I didn't need or want. And the best part was he answered all of my questions without a hint of that patronizing vibe that's rampant in tuner culture. After a lengthy convo, we settled on a package and they were able to squeeze me in the next day. An hour and a half after I arrived I was driving off with what felt like a completely new car for a very small amount of money. I had trusted 2Bennett with my 92 Audi S4 years ago so when it started having issues, I had the car towed from San Diego to Davis for them to work on. When I picked up the car here is what I found: Strike 1) 2Bennett tech told me the electric fan was fine but the fan clutch on the belt driven fan was bad. What I found. The relay for the electric fan was not plugged in so there was NO WAY IN HELL that electric fan worked. Strike 2) When I arrived at 9:30 am to pick up my car, heat was coming off the engine when looking under the hood showing me the work they had done . I asked them where they had driven the car from so early in the morning. They said they hadn't driven the car. That was a blatant lie. Strike 3) They broke the gas gauge on the car and didn't tell me or fix it. I emailed Andrew and never heard back. Terrible experience. read more

Wanted to buy an Audi. Went to the dealership. When we went in, we were told to move our car to the other side. No one was there. The car was not blocking anything. We moved the car, but no one came out to assist us. After about 15 minutes, we left. They don't seem to be interested in selling cars. I've used 2 Bennett on multiple occasions. Within the last year, they have failed to diagnose multiple issues that other mechanics have been able to identify within the same timeframe they had my vehicle or much less. They failed to find a coolant leak caused by a cracked reservoir and an air suspension leak caused by a faulty fitting. Because I like supporting local businesses, I've kept using them but after my most recent experience, I find it difficult to recommend them to anyone who cares about their Audi. Most recently, they replaced my motor mounts which were starting to leak and cause a clunking noise when driving. When I picked up my car from them, I didn't notice the clunking issue until a few weeks later because I do not drive my car very often. I tried calling them twice to get my car in to have them look at it again with no answer. Being very frustrated with them after spending nearly $2K on the replacement and their track record on diagnosing other issues on my car, I brought my car to a dealership in town who was able to diagnose my issue and fix it within 3 hours. The issue being that Audi 2 Bennett did not torque down multiple bolts when doing the work initially. I emailed the invoice to Andrew (the owner) and he is not willing to pay me back for the invoice and is confused why I didn't bring my car back to 2 Bennett after I noticed the issue. The invoice I asked him to pay was not very expensive and I did not ask for money back from their install, yet he is still not offering anything. He lost my business for good and I will warn any fellow Audi owners of his shop. read more

Three things you can be gaurenteed when you take your car to 2 Bennett 1. They will consistantly come in at least $1000 over budget on any job. 2. This was the second time I've taken one of my car's to 2Bennett , my previous 1 star review was taken down somehow but I'll say last time I brought my car in for a brake install they came in $1,000 over budget in the end then right afterward started pulling attitude ( Audittude) saying "they didnt perform maintance" basically taking my money for a parts install and then some to never touch or maintain the work they did aftward. So now after a few years have passed and 2B hired some new employee's I was invited to their Holiday party by a friend. I'm man enought to give anyone a second chance so I drove down in my new 2017 VW GolfR as the guest of my and they were extreamly nice to both of us I thought they jsut wanted the tune work on my new car. Giving us a bunch of free beers and food, so I was willing to give them a second chance . * Side not I herd later they were wining and dineing us for a reason, I guess they arnt as golden as I thought at the time. I contacted Dan about bringing my 2004 VW R32 in ( please keep in mind this is more of a mk1 Audi TT 3.2 mechanically then it is a mk4 VW ) So I assumed they would know how to work on this car and install my parts correctly. I brought them - NEW TIRES Suspension Alcon Big brake kit An entirly new Haldex rear end with Pelaquin LSD Tons of new bushings and parts all packaged sepratly and safe. What I got back was something totally unexspected and flat out appaling! I've been having "tuned cars" built for over 25yrs and I've NEVER once had a car delievered to me in such a aplorable fashion. The car was returned to me with flashing fatel check engin lights , flashing traction control lights , flashing BRAKE and ABS lights The dash looked like a dang christmas tree and I should be clear NONE of these were on or flashing at the time I dropped the car off. Nor were any of these documented or noted on the work order prior to them starting the parts installs. Of course Andrew when questioned about this at the time of delievery blamed the car saying " oh I'm sure there are other things wrong with it" and blaming my parts " Well that's not the selection of parts we would have chosen for that car" .... ok Andrew then at that time you should have spken up and made suggestions. Problem is the prarts I have for my car are in fact the best parts made for each application. IE: Bilstein PSS9 coild overs ( freshly factory rebuilt by Bilstein) Haldex parts , Borge Warner pump *new , HPA Touch screen unti *new , Borge Warner / Haldex compitition controller *new , Pelequin LSD *new Upon return of the car the following was wrong or had issues : Tire install - drivers side tire has a huge gash in the inner sidewall so much the tire wont hold air. This was documented from day 1 and verified by my local Les Schwab as " looks like the tell tale sighn of a kid who can't use a tire machine" The tire pressure was also all over the place upon delivery , granted it California state law that the shop needs to even out the tire pressure before delievery of any car. Guess 2B is above CA laws like that ! Suspension install - Ride height of the car was off by almost a 1/2" at each corner, oppside sides high / low so the car crabbed or pulled HARD to the right. IE: front passenger side high , drivers side rear high / oppside corners set low. Alignemnt - Car was delievered pulling HARD to the right, this could also have been cuased or contributed too by the front leaking tire and un even ride height. Brake install - Paid to have a Alcon Big brake kit installed , car was delievered back to me with a failing ABS unit. A failure that was not occurring before the parts install or prior to the car being sropped off at 2B Flashing fatel CEL's - the car was delievered to me with sevral flashing fatel CEL's from the traction control , ABS and Brake systems. None of these were documented prior to the work being performed. I would later be charged an aditional $300+ for them to diagnose these issues . Granted Nielo VW only changed me $136 for the same dignosis. read more

Worst car experience of my life! I'm on my 3rd Audi, I've owned an A4, Q5, and now a S5. Never had any problems. Until I took my 2013 S5 to 2Bennett to get the APR stage 1 flash and that went great. So when I went back for a clutch issue I thought things would go smoothly. Boy was I wrong! My invoice kept going up til it totaled over $4k for the clutch job. 200% markup on the parts, the labor was over $2k and it wouldn't even start when they presented it as being ready. 2 months later it still won't shift in and out of gear. I took it to the dealership and their advice was to file a claim with the BAR. The worst part of the whole ordeal has been the horrible customer service, Andrew is a complete jackass! I called 2Bennett Audimotive on 12AUG20 at 9:00am to make an appointment. I spoke briefly to the person who coordinates appointments (Gene?). He said to send the VIN Number and my details to their email address. I did so immediately. Waited two hours. No call back. Called three times and left messages, and resent email once. I never received a call back. Clearly 2Bennett Audimotive has real problems with communication. If the communication is this bad, it necessarily reflects on the quality of repairs that the business does. I called another place that services Audis in Davis, and received spectacular care and communication. I am giving one star because Yelp will not permit me to give ZERO stars. read more

Went here on a recommendation from a friend after i got taken advantage of at another German automotive shop. Totally got me squared away when I went in and said how they were so different and going to help me out unlike the other guys. Got my stage 1 tune and they told me I had a small oil leak and a quote to get it fixed. I emailed them back to get it scheduled and they ignored it. Again after maybe two weeks I tried again and still nothing. Going to have to go somewhere else because these guys just ignore me and aren't interested in my business. 2Bennett is probably 30% of the reason I bought an Audi (the other 70% is because it is the cutest car ever). I have been in several times for major services, new lights/brakes, oil changes, and other things regular car maintenance issues. They always work with my budget- maybe going with a less expensive part or something- and schedule. It's one of the few shops I've gone to that care as much about my car as I do! They also understand when I say my car feels "weird" or something and help me diagnose the problem (it's usually the tires). Sometimes they'll just do a quick check and not charge me! Andrew and Gene are also super knowledgeable about cars and are always fun to talk to, and all the techs I've dealt with have been professional and nice. Bottom line: The customer service and quality of car repairs is the best in Davis, and I will stay with Audi as long as I can go to 2Bennett! I drive all the way from San Francisco to have these guys take care of my Audi A-4, 2005. They are as PROFESSIONAL as you can be, and TAKE THE TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYING BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER SERVICE. I had that gruesome my-trunk-won't-close-intermittently problem, and a little internet research convinced me that the fix would be pretty standard, so they ordered the part without seeing my car (I paid by credit card via phone) and when I got the car there, the fix was less than an hour at their VERY REASONABLE LABOR RATE. Unlike the Royal Motor Car Audi dealer in San Francisco, who quoted me almost $800 for the 75,000 mile service, 2 Bennett JUST DID THE NECESSARY THINGS and not the overkill. I needed a smog certificate (found out just 2 days before my appointment with 2Bennett) and THEY FIT THAT INTO THE SCHEDULE. Then they replaced my old windshield wipers at a price far less than retail for the part, and only took (and billed) a tenth of an hour to do that add-on. When I left, they patiently explained the importance of oil changes every 5000 miles from now on, at what mileage I should get the rear brakes checked based on their inspection, and what might be coming up in terms of major repairs after my current extended warranty runs out -- and advised getting another extended warranty if I could. I am so happy with them and their willingness to share information so that I can keep my car running well. By the way, the trunk, which I had been calling "the #$#$&*# trunk", now works perfectly. I LOVE THESE GUYS. If you are a woman who has felt ripped off by auto repair folks in the past -- you'll love them too. And they'll give you a lift into downtown Davis and recommend a nice restaurant for lunch, and pick you up after the service is done too. What's not to love? read more

Bottom line: If you value your customer service experience, your time, and getting what you pay for, then find a different shop. This shop doesn't even get close to a reputable shop like 034 Motorsports. I'll guess give them one star because my car is running, and another for the wash. The week long headache began with me bringing my car to them on a Friday afternoon for an inspection. I was told in person my car would be looked at Saturday morning... it was inspected on Monday. I was told that the job to repair a crank position sensor and a heater hose elbow would only take 2-3 hours and it would be ready the same day... The repairs took a day and a half, and when I came in to pick it up at the time I was told over the phone, it wasn't ready. They clearly made me feel like they didn't give a shit about me nor my car. The customer service was far worse than your local mechanic's shop, seriously, these guys seemed braindead. Most shops call you to inform you of any progress or when the repairs will be complete, not the story here, you have to fish for information just to know whats going on. The repair estimate went up every time I called them, which was fun. The parts for the repairs could have been bought for roughly $120, yet both of the parts came out to over $150 each, awesome. Not to mention paying the $120/hr labor rate. What should have been a $250 dollar, 30 minute job at most, came out to $800, If I hadn't been in a rush to get my car fixed, I would have just ordered the parts online and brought them to a mechanic that works on German cars. Clearly the only reason this shop is still in business is because of customers who have never taken the plastics off their engine bay saying that they don't get "ripped off here!!" and "taking time to explain everything!!" If you have more money than brains, sure give them your business, if you have any common sense, find a better shop. read more

My 2005.0 Audi S4 was lowered by a previous owner. I like the way it looks but driving over hard bumps the front tires would bang the wheel wells. I had new Koni sport shocks installed locally, hoping to fix the problem. Not much improvement though - should have have gone with height-adjustable coil overs. Coil overs are expensive though, especially with labor and I did not want to just throw away the new shocks. 2Bennett's Coil Program system proved to be the answer to my problem and at a very reasonable price ( including a generous discount for using my existing shocks ). Their master fabricator built adjustable-height front coil overs using my new struts and also replaced the factory rear suspension. Perfect ! The S4 is the same height - as requested - and it drives better than new. Even here in San Francisco, bumps and pot holes are no problem. Handling that was very good before is now excellent. Big fun ! I'm lucky to live only an hour and a half away and will gladly drive to Davis in a few weeks so 2Bennett can handle my 'fix it' list. Thanks guys. read more

This shop is awesome! I've had to get my Audi worked on many times and at many different dealerships. Ken and Andrew are amazing and treat me like im part of the family. Their shop rates are amazingly cheap for the service they provide ($85/hr?). Ive had quotes from the dealership for around $850 get completed for less than $250 at 2Bennett. Only complaint is that it takes a while to get your car when you go to pick it up. read more

The short version: Terrible customer service. The first time I went to them they lost the center hub cover to one of my rims and said they'd look around and call me back. They never called back. Modified A4 quattro, Quebec City, Canada. i have just replaced aging coilovers (from others) with 2B's coilover package (700 and 650 rates). Daily driver, winter roads. The parts are excellent, in the way they perform and the way they are built. The threads and adjustments in particular. Simple enough, very sturdy parts. As a street setup on a daily driver, the ride is firm but not harsh. Advice to stay with oem rather than poly bushings was very pertinent. The oem bushings are very durable. i may loose a bit in stiffness, but the ride is already quite stiff. But the oem bushings do a super job of damping vibrations. The overall handling is better. i use oversized sway bars. Service was excellent, i dealt with Dan, Andrew and Tim, over phone and email. Shipping was very fast. i found their option to change the springs for a different spring rate was invaluable for replacing a suspension. You need to try it, and they understand that. i had to use it, and i am very pleased it was available. Thanks for a great service and for keeping the B5 alive and well.
