Another day he went out of his way to pick up a part at the local O'Reilly's and then went back and exchanged it when they gave him the wrong part. His rate is more than reasonable and he'll work with you on an arrival time. If he doesn't do the work you need, he'll point you to a good local mechanic. The short: Tom was communicative, responsive, thorough, attentive, and clearly cared about my satisfaction as a customer. My car had an issue with the clutch switch, which Tom fixed. Highly recommended. The long: I was in Davis to study for the bar exam. I knew nothing about the area and no one in it. All I did was go from my subleased apartment to the library for 12ish hours a day and to the grocery when I could - that's it. Then my car died. Rather than have it towed and lose time from studying by lifting/ubering to and from the mechanic, I looked up a mobile mechanic to diagnose, and if possible, fix the car on the spot. It was in the parking garage at the law library. Tom did everything I could have wanted or needed him to do, including: driving to and from different locations to get the best prices on parts I needed, follow-up with me when the original work did not fix the issue, work on a Sunday and late at night, and do the second round of work without charge (which I felt was fair since the first round did not actually address the issue - and the second round did). All in all, he was very helpful and made a stressful situation a lot less difficult. He seemed like a genuine and fair dude who really cared about customer satisfaction and doing a good job. Car broke down Friday evening in traffic. I was driving down the highway when my steering went out. I thought it was the power steering system. I pulled into a gas station and came to find a broken serpentine belt. I called Tom and he was there in 20 minutes. He identified a wobbly idler pulley as the likely cause of this wear. My baby car stopped starting all of a sudden and I was trapped with my car in the street. I could either call and get it towed to a auto shop or find someone to come to me. I searched through Yelp and found that Tom had wonderful reviews, and decided to give him a call. He answered my message within minutes and told me he could come by later that evening. He stopped by my house around 6 pm and diagnosed the issue within 20 or so minutes. Tom explained to me what exactly what he thought was wrong with my starter and called O'Reillys for me in order to check for availability of a replacement. The diagnostic was $75 and the work to put in a new starter was an extra $75 on top of that- what an amazing deal! He told me about the benefits/drawbacks of remanufactured vs new parts, how to get the part, and reminded me to bring my old starter back in to get some money back. The next day, he was around to fix my car and finished the job in about an hour. My car finally starts reliably (thank god) and I found my go to person for anything car related in the future.
