July 2022 -
I urge you to read to the end. I began taking my black lab to Collierville Canine in June of 2021 after moving to Tennessee. Initially it was very nice. It is a great location, has lots of open space, even a pool and the staff and current Manager at that time were very helpful. I took my dog there several times for overnight visits and they always sent pictures and gave my dog an exit bath for free. In April of this year I made reservations for one week while my husband and I were out of town for business. Upon arriving, I noticed a rather "snarky" sign in the front saying "We no longer take pictures of your pet. If you wish to have pictures, you can Pay. "... OK.. so I didn't expect any pictures. The week went by and on our way home I called to let them know I would be arriving in town in 1 1/2 hours so they could give my dog a bath. No answer on multiple tries. I finally got an answer about 20 minutes prior to my arrival and asked why no one was available only to be told she had just arrived and they are too busy to answer the phone, and they no longer give baths. Upon arrival, I found my dog in the pool, just 20 minutes after I had told them I would be there to pick him up. I noticed something a bit off with my sweetheart but was anxious to get home. Once home I noticed a dried spot on his head and when I wiped it off with a wet rag I found a 2 inch deep gash in his head!!! I immediately called back and asked what had happened to my dog. The response I received was "Gee, we didn't notice anything" Are you kidding? I told her it was bloody and quite large and her explanation was that sometimes if they have a little cut and go in the pool, it draws blood out. I proceeded to ask for the manager, who wasn't there but got her name. The next morning, my dogs' eyes were swollen shut so I immediately took him to the vet. My dog had to have surgery. After shaving his head, they found several puncture wounds and he had to get 12 stitches. The vet confirmed that this was a bad dog attack and by the angle of the one big wound, she could tell that my dog was trying to get away from the dog. Needless to say we were apalled. I tried calling to speak to the manager at Collierville Canine with no luck so finally got her email address and sent her pictures and the vet bill. She called me the next day. She had no explanation of what happened and was not even aware that it had occurred. Her first response was that she only had inexperienced high school kids working there. Again... are you kidding? She told me that she would check the cameras and get back to us. Here is the best part. She called back the next day only to let us know that conveniently their cameras were not working that day and no one working that day saw anything. Therefore, they could not tell us what happened!!!! I must add that they quickly agreed to pay for our vet bills and refunded our boarding stay. However, NEVER ONCE in any of our conversations did anyone ever admit to the fact that CLEARLY our dog was attacked, NEVER did anyone say "we're sorry this happened", or NEVER did they offer any suggestions of what they were going to do in the future to prevent a similar situation. I am not naive and believe that sometimes bad things can happen, but I cannot tolerate their obvious lack of accountability or concern for the well being of my loveable lab. Even though they paid for our vet bills, I cannot trust them to be open and honest, nor can I trust that this would not happen again. The way the situation was handled was unacceptable and unfortunate. I sincerely hope that they can get their act together. read more
