River Dog Inn is the only boarding facility that has my full trust as a pet owner, and I have very high standards as a dog sitter myself. I took my dog (and subsequent foster dogs) there over the course of the four years I lived in Memphis. My dog, Tikva, has some pretty intense stranger danger but immediately loved the owner Kathy and her daughter Lana. We also loved Emma and Lillian, and the rest of the staff. They always put her needs first and never pushed her out of her comfort zone. I always got amazing personalized communication (and cute pics) from them. I really appreciate how they offer solo daycare/boarding to accommodate her issues. The extended hours are also a big plus! My dog LOVED going to River Dog Inn. Wow, I have never met a more caring owner/staff. Our dog had a poor experience at a different doggie daycare, and coming here was the BEST decision we could have made!! They were able to offer daily reports on our pup and she had a great experience when she boarded there, as well. Maggie is high energy and honestly difficult at times, but they handled her so well! They all knew her by name quickly. I could give story after story of how helpful they were, but I will just select a few. 1. Our dog had some issues going to the bathroom due to her long hair one day and needing groomed. Long story short, the owner gave her a sanitary trim without being asked! 2. I had a few last minute scenarios where Maggie needed boarded at the 11th hour, and they were always caring and happy to accommodate. 3. They shared which toys Maggie liked so we could purchase them. 4. They cared for Maggie like family! I cried when we said our goodbyes!! They also took interest in us, which was so kind! If you are in Memphis and need a doggie daycare-look no further. Seriously, we had the very best experience and are so sad to be moving to another state because we no longer get to be patrons of this establishment! I can't recommend River Dog highly enough! When I first got my mini Aussie, I was living in an apartment, so it was pretty much necessary for Atlas to have somewhere to go every single day. And I could not have gotten luckier!! Kathy and her team are kind, knowledgeable and patient. They truly understand dogs and LOVE THEM. They treated Atlas as if he was one of their family pets. One time I was running late to pick him up, and I walked in and, since he was the last pup waiting to go home, one of her staff members was training him in the lobby! Atlas is a super smart boy and he LOVES training, but he has pretty significant anxiety around people. To see him thriving and learning with someone who wasn't me warmed my heart, and showed me just how much time and care they were taking with my boy. Without fail he was ecstatic to walk in the door every morning at River Dog! Even after he's stayed for two weeks while I was out of the country, he had no hesitation running right back in to play the next day! The cameras gave me a lot of peace of mind but more importantly, even when I was traveling for work or working late, I felt close to my puppy! Seeing him run and play with his puppy friends made my day every time! When I was caught in a pinch and Atlas needed a place to stay for an entire month, there was no question where he would stay, and he was happy and well loved the whole time. Atlas takes medication and I have complete confidence that they were diligent in administering it. They also sent me adorable pictures and videos of him and his nighttime routine I want to especially note that even during the early days of the coronavirus crisis, Kathy and her team were amazing! They did an amazing job keeping everyone safe and healthy while still helping socialize our pups. I cannot highlight enough how reliable and kind the folks at River Dog are. Atlas started there as soon as he had his vaccinations, and it is where he learned how to be a good canine participant. They handled his tough adolescent months with grace, love, and support. They helped me raise my pup to be extremely well socialized with other dogs, and I consider them part of my puppy family! read more

We decided to take a last minute trip to Memphis. I called River Dog Inn due to the ratings but was told they were only open certain times on the weekend which were not convenient times for us to drop off and pick up. A few minutes later, I received a call back stating that they would have someone to check us in at a convenient time for us. It meant so much to me that they worked with us. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and did everything possible to make our Annie as comfortable as possible. When I picked her up Sunday Morning, the owner was in. Kathy gave me a complete report on how Annie did and was so friendly! Loved meeting her! We plan more trips to Memphis and we know exactly where our sweet girl will stay! read more

I love sending my dogs Piper and Maggie to board at River Dog Inn! Kathy, the owner, and her daughter are so kind and thoughtful. They truly treat my girls like they are part of the family. They even recognized that Piper is insecure and becomes attached easily, so they made sure she got extra love and attention. I am also the crazy fur mom that will check in while I am away and Kathy has always promptly responded to my emails assuring me I have nothing to worry about. Our dog has been going to River Dog Inns Doggie Daycare for a few weeks and she loves it. These are people who love animals. I never thought I'd be that ridiculous pet owner who took my dog to daycare, but here I am obsessively watching her play on their remote cameras. Their facilities are clean and the staff is amazing. This place was a God send to us. We came to Memphis because our daughter was diagnosed with cancer. As her diagnosis got worse we decided to bring her baby for comfort. Her Frenchie Nugget was her world. Needless to say we had various appointments and unexpected stays in patient and with that, Kathy, her daughter and the rest of the team were amazing. Even had an emergency on a holiday and even though they were closed I called to just leave a message to try and get the soonest time available for day care/boarding and Kathy answered and just kindly said, bring Nugget by, "we would love to have her". This is the type of care we always got from River Dog Inn and for that we are grateful. The cameras are awesome for that separation anxiety on our part (because Nugget always loved running past the gate in into the facility). I have lived in Memphis for 2 years now and my dog Bruno has LOVED River Dog Inn. I am in the medical field and their daycare hours fit perfect for a 12 hour shift. I have only great things to say about the River Dog Inn boarding and spa on Court street in Memphis, TN. Our new dog a rescue needed to be boarded for a couple of days. Cathy the owner and her team took very good care of Casey. We paid for a suite and this gave our very shy dog a place that was quite and roomy. They also offer grooming. read more

River Dog Inn is a Memphis treasure! I have used this business since they first opened. It's conveniently located, and has a staff of THE most caring people. I've used ALL services they offer - including grooming, doggie day care, and boarding. I have 3 dogs of varying sizes (1 is a small Maltese/Yorkie mix, 1 is a Belgian Malinois, and 1 is a husky mix). All 3 dogs love River Dog Inn! I cannot say enough nice & great things about this place. One of my favorite things is video access. You have access to the app to check-in and see when the dogs are playing. I love that the business is so transparent, and you are able to check in on your pups throughout the day. My dogs always come home tired from a full day of play, and it makesme happy to be able to check in on them to see them playing throughout the day. The entire staff is so loving & caring, and I always feel better knowing the dogs are in good hands. I truly hope this place is around for a very long time. If you are looking for place to groom, board, or leave your dog for day care, please consider giving them a try. I am SO thankful I did. read more

I love sending my dog here! He is very anxious and they were so patient while he came out of his shell when he first started going. Now when we pull up to River Dog Inn he starts howling with joy and pulls to the front door. They separate the dogs by size so he's never with dogs that are overwhelming to him. It's also important that they have designated rest times, the dogs alternate between being in the play yard and resting. It would be too much if he was left in a play yard all day. They also have super long hours, drop off as early as 615am and pickup as late as 730pm. The staff is wonderful, I remote in and watch him play and there's always a staff member supervising and loving on the dogs. He comes home after a long day happy and tired. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a doggie daycare. read more

Everything was perfect! Quick to take us as a call in then walk in, helped us find the best grooming package (even have something to prevent shedding which actually works)!! They had no problem calling my vet for me to confirm shots and vaccines were current, they even let me know that the time was coming up for them!! My dog loved them!! Only took a little over an hour and they called me that he was ready!! Definitely going back and would recommend to all!! read more

I brought both my dogs to River Dog Inn for a short time and I was happy with the establishment. I thought I had finally found the right daycare.  I liked mostly everything about it.  The dogs seemed well cared for and were interacted with. Most of the day they had someone in the yard with them, but morning staff rotated between medium and small dogs. I had no big issue with that as they were still being watched for the most part. My dogs did not come home stinking. I enjoyed being able to watch them interact with all the other dogs. I was happy and this all changed on Valentines Day when a staff member picked my dog Moose up by the leash and ruff handled him. I went in that day and showed Kathy (owner) the video. She told me he was on his way out the door and he would be gone soon.  He had been caught before handling dogs inappropriately. I kept my boys home for a little while as my husband ended up getting sick. When he went back to work on 2/26 we took them back into daycare I was surprised to see the guy was still there. I watched the cams a good part of the day and I wrote Kathy another long list of items this guy was doing to the dogs and what times on the video she could find it...for example durning the time I watched I observed him putting dogs into the timeout crate for no reason and kept the dog there for over and hour(Kathy's rule is 4 to 5 in timeout). The dog did nothing to be placed there. Talking on his phone and missing a fight that could of been avoided and swinging the mop at the dogs to break them up. Her response pretty much came down to her not being able to be short staffed and she was working on replacing him. She said she would let me know when she did. Well here it is 4/21 and I have gotten no follow-ups saying he has been terminated. I wasn't going to say a word had she done what she said she was going to do. While River Dog Inn might look like they got there ducks in a row...they don't and apparently rough handling dogs is acceptable and when a staff member is a piece of crap. They have no backup plan. They let these people in the yards day after day with your dogs and apparently they see no issue with that even though this person still continued to break rules after the fact. Even though I pointed it out in email and told her exactly where in the videos to look.  They will give you a whole bunch of lip service and make you think they care when in reality they are just hoping that you forget and go away. Well I never forgot and I waited way longer than I should of to see if she was going to follow thru with what she said. I still have a couple unused daycare days there that had it been handled properly I could of used. Now Instead I paid for a service that I will never use.   Anyways,  to anyone considering bringing your dog here and spending your hard earned money, I have got emails and video I would be happy to share before you decide.  Don't be a fool like I was. read more
