This was the first place I let my sweet girl go for daycare/boarding. I love the fact that they have cameras in her room when she is boarding. And I can watch her all day on the camera. But it's a bit pricey. Boarding apparently does not include daycare. Which is a bummer. Staff is nice. Camp bow wow is more reasonable priced and actually knows my dog's name after a couple of visits. Unlike brown dog lodge. They always have to ask who is this. Also, my dog always smells bad after daycare. But at camp bow wow she smells much nicer and doesn't need a bath after every daycare. Probably won't recommend. Will not return, now that I found a better place. read more

I initially had concerns since he's a pitty and some places won't allow him, but they let him play with the other dogs and said he's welcome back any time. This is a great place to bring your dog for daycare. The staff is very nice and helpful. When you pull up in the morning, they greet you at the car and take your pup right in for playtime. When it's time for pick up, they bring your pet right out and they check you out quickly and efficiently. We babysat my son's very high energy dog for the week, and he was flat worn out at the end of the day. He played all day and we could tell he loved it because he was so excited when I pulled in the parking lot the next day. My aunt used to bring her pup to Brown Dog before he passed away and she always had nothing but good things to say about them. I see now why she loved them so much. To say that I am an overprotective pet mom would be the greatest understatement EVER. After living in Houston for the greater part of my pups' lives, I was unsure of what I would do leaving an amazing vet, groomer, and pet sitter. When I found BrownDog, I realized that I hit the mother load. Grooming & Day care!!! Then, when I had to leave town, and realized that I needed someone to watch my fur-babies, I had to go on a search for a boarding facility...uh, yeah! They have that too!!! When I pull up to BrownDog, I am greeted by a happy person who calls me AND both of my pups by name. Not only that, but my pups appear to know them as well! The front desk is fantastic, the people who work there are fantastic. I am stopped regularly to ask where my dogs are groomed. ANYONE who will listen...i will tell them about how great BrownDog is. This is a little gem in the middle of The city. There's not a huge lot for parking but that's kind of a good thing because you literally just go in and you can leave right away. They take care of you right away. The moment you walk in your automatically greeted, it looks like there's always somebody at the front door. All the workers look at you and smile in a friendly way. It seemed like they were as excited as the dogs were excited to see us. One Worker in particular stood out to me when I saw him in the middle of maybe what looked like 10 to 15 dogs but with all the moving around it seemed like there were 50. The first time we boarded our dog here we were naturally nervous to leave him for the first time. That quickly went away when we checked the webcam to see how much fun he was having! I can't say enough good things about BDL. It is a second home for my dog. They have loved her from puppyhood forward and especially through a terrible trauma she experienced at 6 months. The staff there are my good friends and second to none and ALWAYS are smiling, encouraging and upbeat. This is the only place in Memphis that my dog Maddie actually enjoys going to for extended vacations or just for the random day of grooming or day care. I've had one or two frustrations over the last two years and they have done everything they could to remedy the situation. I stopped by here with our dog Chile (looking for day care) after driving cross country from CA and was glad I did. We are very protective dog owners and tried out Petsmart, but their facility was more like prison and it didn't work for us. We saw Camp bow wow in Memphis and that facility looked great, but meet and greets and their strict times didn't work for us either. Brown Dog was great because they allowed us to come in at our own timing and we didn't need any strict appointments. All the regular procedures for protection were met, but at our convenience so we were able to run around Memphis without any worry. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly and remembered our dog by name. Our dog is happily asleep in the car and we are back on the road again. Thank you Browndog Lodge! read more

I work at a luxury pet hotel in my hometown, so we are kind of particular when it comes to where our Brittany puppy Jessie stays. Driving home from Kansas to North Carolina, we left Jessie at BrownDog Lodge while we toured Graceland, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful, and the premises are clean and well-maintained. Jessie had a great time playing with the other dogs, and we could tell she was tuckered out when we picked her up. We even got a little goodie bag as a going-away gift! This business and its owner and staff are some of the finest and most caring that I have ever come across. My only regret in dealing with them is that I am not local and can't frequent their business more often. I recently drove across the country with my 4 year old Basset hound and 4 year old daughter, and by the time we hit Memphis, we needed a break from the car ...and maybe a drink. Anyway, I found multiple pet day care facilities when I did a quick search, called several, but this is the one I landed in. I'm so glad I did. The woman on the phone was kind from the moment she picked it up. When I got there, I filled out paperwork and she held his leash patiently to help me and made us feel very comfortable. I met the owner and additional staff when I went to pick my crazy hound up and can say with complete confidence, they are all amazing. They bent over backwards for me in a multitude of ways and didn't blink an eye and I am grateful beyond what I can express here. This business is an example of the good in this world, so if you are considering a pet facility in Memphis, I hope you and your pet have the opportunity to land in Browndog too. This place is great! I bring my dog there when I travel for work and she really enjoys it. The employees are very nice and work well with her. When we arrive, my dog usually isn't crazy about being there, but the staff is great at helping her adjust, so by the time I get settled down to watch her on video camera, she's already running around with the other dogs. The staff even stayed a couple of minutes late once when my flight was delayed. My only complaint is that there is no video camera inside for the small dogs room. But I definitely recommend Browndog Lodge. read more

After reading all of these 5 star reviews I was so excited to send my 2 german shepherds to Brown Dog Lodge. We booked their stay for 8 days and chose Brown Dog because they are known for their 'luxury' and daycare services. This place was chosen over anywhere else for these reasons and we felt it was worth paying more for the extra services. We dropped off the pups and quickly downloaded the webcam as we traveled across country. Day 1 was okay because they were out of their room most of the day in day care - day 2 we kept checking the webcam and they were never released out of their room. We ended up calling the next day (day 3) because they were still in their room - super frustrated as we paid for 2 dogs worth of day care daily - needless to say no one ever called to say they were not in daycare or that they didnt agree with other dogs - nothing. Come to find out our younger 2 year old playful dog was too rambunctious so back in their cell they went - I would never leave a bad review if they seemed to care - they did not attempt to try and put them back in day care - and said we still had to pay for day care - we asked if they could throw the ball - but this would cost us more money - upon pick up I was charged almost 100.00 more than what the bill said (because I was not given an itemized bill at checkout). We were then told that they went back into daycare over the weekend and they were fine - this makes no sense! It seems they could not handle 2 large dogs - they knew how they were when you fill out the long paperwork - dont take on the job if you cannot handle it. Then we received a call when we got home that they forgot one of my dogs medicine - The next day I picked up the meds never to receive an apology or anything. I was referred here by a local vet who is a dear friend and I will never return. She will not refer Brown Dog any longer. read more

We had 2 German shepherds stay here and the experience was nothing more than the worst for the dogs and us. We were promised day care and after watching web came noticed dogs had not been let out of their room for 3 days. No one from lodge called to inform us that the dogs had not been out. It took action on my part to call and ask. They did not offer any resolution or attempt to help in this matter at all. The dogs were there for 8 days without any attention as promised. After several attempt of calling to get a resolution on this matter they just told us it would just cost more money. We reluctantly agreed to pay eXtra just to get them out of their cell for more quality time. After watching the cam noticed the same issues. A very faint non sympathetic sorry was given by the lady at the lodge.there was never any reassurance that the dogs would be well taken care of. Booked this place over others because they made it seem it would be far better over their competition. Upon arrival to pick up the dogs we were over charged by $100. After getting home felt that was wrong and called to get A itemized invoice which was not provided on pick up. When invoice was emailed the invoice was for far less then they admitted they had charged to much. Refunded money finally! The next day. Later we had found they forgot to give us the dog medicine back. Upon trying to pick it up they couldn't even find the medicine. Not sure if the dog even got her medicine. Good family friend is vet and knows now not to recommend this place anymore. Be smart and take pets some place else for quality and loving care for your pet. I have asked for the owner to contact me but have not received anything yet. after speaking with chip and getting more clarity on the situation he did nothing but go above and beyond to fix the situation and explain. had that have happened on the front end this wouldn't have been a problem but he assured me that moving forward when we drop off our dogs they would be more than taken care of and that more communication would take place. thanks chip for all you help and explaining to me everything that had happen and that will happen in the future. read more

My dog is blind, and I want him to feel safe and protected. I think BrownDog Lodge accomplished that. The staff is friendly, and the facility is very clean. I would recommend BrownDog Lodge to others. I do have a recommendation though. Please inform your customers ahead of time about the $18.50 extra charge for Sunday. I was not aware of this extra charge. I considered $37 plus $5 extra for one on one time quite pricey to begin with, but worth it to keep my pup safe and happy. I did not see this $18.50 charge in any of the lodge info so I was quite surprised at payment time. read more

We've taken our dog here for daycare a couple times and he seemed to enjoy it. But unfortunately, we had a bad experience boarding him. We'd never boarded our dog before, so we had no idea that he would bark excessively. We boarded him there for 3 nights while we went out of town to get married. You can only pick up your dog between 4 and 5 on Sundays, and our return flight got delayed 2 hours so we had some friends pick him up. We told the staff at Browndog to put our dog in our friend's car since our friends didn't have any experience with dogs. When we returned home, our dog had thrown up several times and he had his gentle leader around his neck instead of his muzzle. And he was having very labored breathing so we had to take him to an emergency vet where he got an endoscopy and tracheostomy because his throat was so swollen. A week and $3,000 later he is still recovering and will be recovering for at least 2-3 more weeks. When I called Browndog they told me that he seemed fine the whole time he was there, except that he was barking a lot. The vet told us that this could not have been completely caused by barking and that some sort of trauma must have also caused this, so it would seem that having the gentle leader around his neck may have played a part in this. We got a nice call from the owner with a sincere apology and said he would make sure his staff are better trained, and he also gave us a refund, so that was nice of him. Nonetheless, we won't be boarding our dog anywhere again knowing now how much stress it causes him. read more
