They Installed a heater in March. when we went to use it in May it wasn't working. The tech came out and said "It will never work." You do not have the right gas line. So they ordered something incorrectly, installed it knowing it would never work. Followed up 3 weeks later with an estimate to correct the situation for an additional $6400.00!!!!!. They removed it and now want me to pay for the labor to originally install it! read more

My pool was put in March 2024, everything went well! When we opened the pool in May 2025 it was good but, walking around on the pool deck we had plenty of hair line cracks and when we turned on our lights on in the pool the colors don't change! I texted Scott Colley June 25th 2025 and told him nobody was answering are calls in service (June 23 2025) he said he would have someone call me back!! It's now Aug. 8 and still no call!! Talked with others and they say don't bother, nobody gets back to you! I guess my lights won't change colors! What a waste of money!!! read more

My husband and I purchased an inground pool from Colley in 2014 with a salt system and electric heater. We have been loyal customers paying Colley hundreds of dollars to open and close our pool. When we purchased our salt system we were told by the salesman that eventually the salt cell would have to be replaced and were advised the cost of the new cell would be $300-400.. We are getting a signal that our salt system is not right. We called Colley. A technician came out and said the water tested perfect, the cord was perfect, and the salt cell was generating salt. He made several phone calls and told he THINKSit MAY be the cell but isn't sure. He want to put in a new cell to check it. If it doesn't work, then we don't have to pay for the cell and if it does work, we have to pay $849!!!!! So they aren't sure if it is the problem and we have to pay double the cost of a cell to find out. The online price of the same exact cell is $429. What a scam. Canceling our pool closing and are finished with Colley. DO NOT PURCHASE A POOL FROM THIS COMPANY NOR CALL THEM FOR SERVICE. read more

When we considered getting a hot tub, Charlie and the staff at Colley's allowed us to make our decision very easily. They answered our questions and concerns with patience and knowledge, which they backed up. Install was seamless and timely. We've had our hot tub over two years and love it. I even enjoy taking water samples in for testing, which is free! The staff is always happy and friendly. Our kids love to go with, cuz the store is 'sooooo cool.' read more

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING SERVICE! I can't believe any of these other reviews about poor customer service to be true. I have had noting but outstanding service from them and they have always been very friendly and helpful. We bought our house on Oct. 8, 2015. The previous home owner never closed it as the weather that year was beautiful! We have never had a pool before. With the moving we totally forgot about getting the pool closed. Colley's was the first phone call, and simply by default of alphabetical order. The lady who answered the phone said they were done closing pools for the year. I was almost Halloween. Before we hung up she asked for our address to see if we were in their computer. We were. They installed the pool and did all the work on it over the years. She even got us a pool closing for the beginning on November. She saved the day for sure! :) We have had the pump replaced four years ago, a new, upgraded liner three years ago, a new filter this year, and a new heater scheduled for next year. Our pool is 21 years old. All equipment was original and we were expecting to upgrade in this time frame anyway. Yesterday I went out to the pool because the pump was not running. The timer was ticking, but the pump was not running. I found the pump itself to be hot to the touch. Assuming the pump was bad, I called Colley's right away. The service department was closed but the lady on the phone said that someone in parts may be able to help me. Bob, the parts manager could not have been more helpful! He helped me take the pump apart and diagnose the problem over the phone. It turned out to be a bad capacitor. I went to Colley's and bought one for $28. I knew the price before I got there. I could have bought one much cheaper through my HVAC supply house, but I gladly gave the business to Colley's. After all they helped me again! Colley's has ALWAYS been upfront about cost an has never gone over budget or estimate. They have always been on time, very friendly, and very professional. If people do not like the price, or it does not fit their budget then they need to go elsewhere. As a business owner, I fully understand how much money is needed to maintain a solid, reliable business. The cheapest guy is not always the best. Colley's unplugged my collapsed lines during a pool opening and flooded underneath my liner. They charged me over $400 for opening a pool that was unusable. Then, took over two weeks to come out to look at it, only to charge me to fix the damage that they created. Poor customer service. read more

Disgusted with Colley. They are expensive to open and close, don't show up when they're supposed to, and don't do a complete job. They charged me $255, took 3 days for a simple above ground pool opening, and didn't even bother to vacuum the pool. I have had nothing but great service from Colley's since our pool went in in October of 2017. Our first summer (last year) was a learning experience, as we've never owned an inground pool, and the techs couldn't have been more accommodating and courteous. We've encountered a couple of minor problems since opening this summer and they were prompt (same day) and efficient in rectifying what was wrong. We've never had a single experience with their tech and service department that was negative. I would highly recommend Colley's to anyone considering an inground pool. read more

Catherine has always been great. Friendly, outgoing and knows her pools. Has helped me through a few issues and had to think outside the box a few times. Management has not been as helpful. bought a pool deck from them that was trash and fell a part in 3 years and upper management said sorry not our problem as the company went out of business so you lost out. Catherine was apologetic and offered some helpful hints. Fredonia store is a small operation and some people who go in seem to think there time is more important then others but Catherine and her help always try to help everyone in a timely manner without selling you a bunch of stuff you don't need. I called several pool companies in August 2020 to get an estimate for a pool. All pool installs were more than I anticipated, but Colley's was lower. I knew people who used Colley's before who recommended them so I bit. Bad mistake. Seems everyone had pools installed in 2021. Although my pool was projected for a Sept install, the actual install date kept getting pushed out. Communication from the company sucked. Once the pool was installed, it took them two weeks to backfill because they were working on other installs. They then tried to upsell me on stone backfill for $2k more. To make matters worse, I gave them a hard date to backfill due to a scheduled fence install. They then said they would have to charge me extra if the backfill had to be performed by hand. I told them it wasn't my problem and I was not paying more, but the fence was going in as scheduled and they would have to do what they had to do to complete the backfill. This pushed my concrete install back to the spring of 2022. Their concrete subcontractor communicated worse than Colley's. He came out 3 weeks ago to assess what was needed an I haven't heard back from him. Meanwhile my yard is a mess. Full of ruts and holes from too much dirt being removed. Don't get me wrong, the crew did a great job. Very professional and explained everything. Communication and project management were definitely lacking. If I didn't do continuous follow ups it would never have been completed. read more

The employees that work at colley's are absolutely RUDE. I called because of a billing discrepancy and the woman I spoke to was so nasty I couldn't believe it. This isn't the only time too. I've had numerous phone conversations regarding problems with service or billing and the people that work their are demeaning and rude. My husband has had the same experience. This pool is great. The upkeep is expensive and I wouldn't mind paying it if the people there made you feel like you weren't an idiot. I've had friends tell me the exact same thing about their experiences. Do yourself a favor and find another pool company to do business with.... That is unless you like it when perfect strangers are down right nasty to you for no reason. read more

I stopped in to inquire about in ground pool sizes to see if there was an option we could fit in our small fenced back yard. The young lady behind the counter replied "you can check the books over there" as she pointed to the brochures at my right. After looking through the brochure I asked who I could speak with in regards to some other questions I had to which she replied "you have to own your home to get a consultation". I'm not sure if she mistook me for someone else or if she was having a hard day but you shouldn't be rude to potential customers. It was an uncomfortable conversation with this rude employee. Man, the reviews on Colley's are brutal here, and honestly, I'm not sure where they come from. Have any of these people ever had work done on their homes? My god, deal with a contractor once and you will sigh a breath of relief with Colley's. I moved from NYC to Buffalo and of course, the first thing I need is a hot tub. It's a must-have. I went to Colley's, Gary's, Tuffs, Pool Mart, etc. I did tons of research on the brands. After meeting FIVE hot tub sellers I was not going to go with Colley's based on price. We did love their sales guy Charlie, hands down the best educator on hot tubs we visited. It was my wife who wanted Colley's because of Charlie and the service. Now I can't speak on the pool complaints here but people complaining about hot tubs on here are bat sh*t. Charlie came for the install, then came back for Spa School and I have since face timed him when I put in my chemicals. If that's not service then you are crazy. Maybe you are all pro's with hot tubs but this is our first time. I can confidently say that I am glad my wife was right because I literally text Charlie with questions and get a response. I never got that feel from any of the other guys we checked. Wow, were do I start. Order a $50,000 pool and have very little communication before, during and after installation. Then spend another $9,000 for concrete through Colleys contractor and get no support when the concrete cracked within 3 weeks of being poured - right next to our step. Horrible first impression for our guests to see getting into our pool. Between our family who bought 3 pools from Colley's in the past year - all of the concrete has cracked along with other issues - still going on. Such a poorly ran company - the crew shows up and leaves without letting you know what's going on and takes forever to get a return phone call. read more

Save your time and go to Gary's. Sat on the showroom floor ready to buy a Hot Tub and the staff just stared at us. We asked for prices and measurements, which seemed like a pretty standard ask and we were looked at like we were aliens. The guy said "I don't know" we don't display that (specs) anymore. So I had to actually ask him if he had a tape measure. Went to Gary's that same night and bought a brand new Jacuzzi. I would rate this company in the negative if I could. We have had them at our house numerous times in the past few weeks due to their negligence. They almost started my pool shed on fire because they put the wrong cord on a pool pump that had a stronger voltage. The cord frayed and burnt the outlet it was plugged into.This was told to me directly by their tech that came out to put a new cord on the pump and fix the outlet it burned($300). The pump started to leak water while the tech was installing the new cord and he said we needed new seals put in when it worked perfectly before this. New seals were put in and it still leaked($70). They then said we needed a new pump because they can't figure out what else it could be. We got a new pump installed even though our old one was only 5 years old ($600). The new pump leaked. They came out again and fixed a pipe that connects to the pump, but I told them it was coming from the bottom of the pump, not the pipe. They took a water sample before leaving. The new pump was still leaking. They refused to come out til we balanced the water, but we tried explaining that everytime we run the filter, our shed floods. This is why the pool may be out of balance. They still refused to come out and hung up on my husband. When I talked to Brian in service, he talked down to me, was very disrespectful and treated me like I was an idiot. We bought the products they told us to use which was shock and baking soda. ($100) So if you want a company that charges you thousands of dollars, causes extreme frustration and aggrevation, has poor service, then this is the company for you! I will also be contacting the bbb so hopefully they don't do this to anyone else! We also contacted another pool company for help and for future openings/closings. read more

The heater for our pool, all purchased and installed by Colley's several years ago, is no longer working. After several visits by their service department, we opted to replace it. My husband called their Fredonia store to arrange delivery, payment, etc. The woman he spoke with was very helpful and courteous, and seemed well-informed regarding what we needed. She had our file opened and in front of her during this conversation, so she knew exactly the type of heater we had (gas/electric/propane, size of pool, etc) and they discussed what we wanted to replace it with (heater/heat pump/etc). After waiting two weeks, Colleys's arrive to install the new heater. Unfortunately, they had ordered propane when we have gas. I call the Fredonia store to find out how this happened, and when we can expect the correct heater to be installed. The woman I spoke with was beyond rude. She told me this mistake was my fault - "there's no way she would have ordered propane unless I told her to," and "don't expect it to be installed soon. We just went an hour out of our way to install your heater and it's your fault we wasted our time. It's going to be awhile." I asked her if there was any way we could expedite the installation of the new heater - summer in WNY is short as we all know - and all she could do was call the Hamburg store and see if they had what we need in stock. She would call me back and let me know. Of course, that didn't happen. I have no words for this. We're trying to spend $4,000 with Colley's, but clearly they don't want our business. I contracted to buy an Inground pool with this company in 2015. It has been the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. The problem first started with their salesman, Who didn't give the correct prices for custom features. Despite the contract being signed by both parties, they would not hold up the pricing and offered no concessions for their error. When construction actually started, the project management was even worse. Subcontractors were confused and milestones did not happen when promised. I should seen the signs earlier in the process. I would not recommend anybody use this pool builder. read more

This is an update on Colleys Pools.Its now the middle of August and they still have yet to finish the work on my pool. again I was promised by the owner Scott Colley that everything would be taken care of. Nothing done. The finishing work done by Hot Shots, owned by Colleys pools came and looked at everything and said they would be back . That was in june and they still have yet to return, to make things right. And Kristen the site manger said they would fix things but we got nothing. The cement guy Hamilton did nothing about the cracks and said Colleys should take care it. Everyone got there money and now they don't care. They don't care about the quality of there work or customer service. Would not recommend Colleys Pool ever. There are so many other places you can go. read more

I can not justify giving Colley's Pools anything more than the lowest possible rating. I give the techs five stars. They are professional and honest. They get the job done quickly. But this review is not for the techs. It's for Colley's Pools & Spas who just three summers after installing a vinyl liner in my inground pool were called back out to fix a 4-inch section of the liner that had come unsecured from the coping. I had to wait six weeks for the appointment. I directed them to the pool as soon as they arrived and went inside to boil some water in a pot as they had asked me to do (to heat the liner so that it could be stretched). I put the pot on the stove and went back outside two minutes later as the techs were walking back from the pool. They said they didn't need the water and that the job was done. They didn't use tools, just their hands. The tech said he wasn't sure about charging for the service and I said I had thought it was covered under warranty. He called his boss John Kibler, who told him the two minute repair to the liner they had installed three summers ago was NOT covered and that they were to charge me for the service call. The tech said there was nothing he he could do about it and that his boss (John Kibler) had told him to do whatever he had to do to get paid. I wrote Colley's Pools and Spas a check in the amount of $119.63, and regretted ever doing business with such a petty company. read more

Colleys installed my new pool liner but ordered one that was too small for my inground pool. Now every year the liner comes out of the casing. I was told they would reset it for free but now they charged me $125 for a service call without telling me there was a cost upfront. I would not recommend that anyone do business with this overpriced and underserviced company. read more

We interviewed 3 pool companies for our dream pool, ended up choosing Colley's worst decision ever. The installation went ok until the guy they sent over to do the grading ruined our yard, and killed a maple tree. The plumbing was not completed yet, the "grader" turned the water on and began filling the pool, the pool had to be drained to connect the plumbing. Then there were problems with the pump and filter systems, they had to return several times to correct the problem. Our pool opening this year was scheduled for the Friday before Memorial Day, well the crew showed up were nice guys, but could not complete the opening due to the fact that when the closed our pool last fall the did not properly drain a line on the filter system it was cracked,therefore, no filter, no pool for that hot weekend and the pool was as green as pea soup. They left the pool cover on the lawn in a heap, they called the service manager about the problem no call back from Colley's. I had to call and try to find out when we were on the schedule they finally came the following Wednesday. The chemicals they left were not nearly enough to clear our pool. We had to spend another $200.00 on chemicals to clear it up.I could go on but you get the idea. We will never use them again! Very poor Customer Service and attitudes! read more

Colleys came to install a new filter and heater last year. We spent a great deal of money on this transition. Mike came out and was fantastic. We decided to have colleys do opening this year too. We couldn't get any kind of window (am or pm etc) for when they might be out. No call the night before as promised. We ended up not being able to be here when they came. They opened the pool and left a bill that they charged our card for but we can't use the pool because they broke a part off in the vacuum port that is sharp, jagged and dangerous ... we have children. We can't use the port to clean it and we don't feel it safe. They will not return our calls. And by the way... why would a pool company not open until 10:00am during peak season? Not impressed. Guess I'm making the 30 min drive to their office today. read more

Completely disorganized! One hand does not know what the other is doing. I had at least 2 situations where the actual billed amount is much higher than the quote. Their prices are higher than other local pool shops, which should equate to a better service experience. Sadly, it does not. The manager does not know how to effectively deal with customer complaints. Just a tip: Grunting and sighing in response to a customer complaint is not too professional and only makes a customer angry. Save yourself some money and frustration, find another shop that will appreciate your business and respect you as a consumer. PS....the only reviews I could find about this place is negative. Terrible! We had an in ground pool put in almost 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems. The first year we had both of our pool lights replaced. The heat pump has been replaced. The pool had to be emptied and resprayed. (Only because we got a lawyer involved) the timer was replaced. Now, our heat pump is not working again. We contacted Colleys 5 weeks ago regarding our heat pump not working and finally had a tech out yesterday. The tech told us he was only there to look at it and there's nothing he could do. Colley's does not staff a person able to fix it. He also told us maybe we should consider putting in a gas heater. This is after Colley's suggested the heat pump, which is more expensive. The tech contacted the manufacturer of the heat pump and said they would be in contact with us. We were very displeased to say the least. We left a message for the service manager of Colley's yesterday and still haven't received a call back. When you call the service department, you have to wait in line or leave a message to be returned within 48 hours. Obviously they have a lot of problems to be resolved. When you do get an appointment, it is 2 weeks out. Terrible! read more

I have a Colley's spa that started leaking last winter. I called in March for an appointment to have the service techs identify and fix the leak. They came initially in April and could not identify or fix the leak. After several visits and various techs, they finally fixed the leak in August, 5 months after they started and 6 months after my call. They do not provide accurate estimates, or on time arrival. The techs pad their hours and even suggested that I try to fix it myself. When I called to speak with a service manager, Eric; he interrupted me, yelled at me and did not listen to what I was saying. The fix ended up costing close to $1500 by the time it was all said and done. I was hoping to pay ~ $800 and willing to go up to $1000 after talking to 3rd party spa repair business. I decided to have colleys fix it as the dealer and supposed experts. They far exceeded budget in both $ spent and time for the fix. They really don't know what they are doing and learn as they go and try to charge customers an hourly rate. A lot of that time is spent on the phone calling for help or talking about other service calls unrelated to my repair or taking smoke breaks. I have never seen or experienced a more unqualified, unmotivated, and clueless group. They never had the parts needed and it took them weeks or months for return visits. When I complained about the hours they charged after watching their work pace, they took hours off 1 visit, then padded the bill on the next visit. Very little communication in terms of what work they would conduct and what the costs might be and how to prepare for their visit. I requested a morning service call and they show up at 6 pm on a Friday night, staying until past 9:30, changing my evening plans. I demanded that the follow-up call with correct parts be in the morning, then they show up at 4 pm! wth? I would not buy anything new from them especially if you live in the northtowns. They charge extra to visit Clarence. Do not buy from them if you don't live nearby! And don't call for service unless you like to overpay for slow service and enjoy uncomfortable conversations and being insulted by the service manager. I asked multiple times to speak with Scott Colley to discuss the matter and instead had Eric yell at me and tell me he would have his tech come back and take the new valve out if I was unhappy that it took 3 hours to replace a valve. This after the 2 hours charged when they found the leaky valve but had to return after parts were ordered. Do not believe their 'customer first' line of BS!!! I gave the 1 star because they did fix the problem. Otherwise it would be 0 stars. read more
