I sat in for Lunch, ordered the fish and chips on the menu and a Lavender Fog 16 ounce made with oat milk. Fish and chips were delicious. Drink never showed up. I went to the counter to pay after I ate so I could get to work as I was running late. When I got to the counter I didn't mention anything about the missing drink, but the girl did and realized she had made it and left it behind the counter forgetting about my drink. She handed it to me. The drink was room temp. "If you need me to reheat it I can". No honey, I don't want you to microwave my tea thank you(didn't say this out loud obviously, I was very polite). The food is tasty, but very expensive. My favorite thing are the chicken strips. The fries are only OK. Their bakery items are good, especially the non-sweet items like baguettes and things like that. I can't really afford to go very often but it's a treat when I do. I didn't learn about this bakery until a little bit ago. I decided to come in today and I had a wonderful experienc. I have a gluten intolerance and the menu is entirely gluten free and nut free. I'm officially in love with this place. We had DELICIOUS gluten free cinnamon rolls, mozzarella sticks, quiche, and breakfast sandwiches. Everything was truly delicious (not just gluten free delicious and yes, there's a difference). The lunch was fair. Servings are small and meh on flavor. The prices are outrageous for what you get. I ordered avo toast with an egg... I think it was 12.50 for one slice of flimsy, un-toasted bread, with avo that tasted like it was from a container and one tiny egg. My kids had chicken strips with fries (17.50 each). We also ordered onion rings and fried mozzarella sticks. We literally spent $125 for lunch ( 3 of us - and each had a pastry too) and walked out feeling pretty let down. So - GO for the pastries. Christmas Eve picking up my gluten free orange rolls and gluten-free cinnamon rolls thinking I have one last thing to cook tonight but of course I was wrong!My husband picked them up not only weren't they cooked the instructions are vague. The inside seating arrangement was a bit cramped for how loud we can be so we sat outside to save everyone the annoyance lol. They have umbrellas so that was perfect. I had the avocado toast and added 2 over easy eggs. The avocado spread was lightly seasoned and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I also ordered their "home browns" which is their country potatoes. They tasted great but I was a little disappointed that there were no onions like I've seen in some of the photos. The man ordered the French toast which is he was very light and not too sweet. I wanted to love this place, all gluten free is an awesome perk but you'll pay for it big time. Don't reply on Cole's for your holiday ordering. I ordered several items in early November for our family Thanksgiving to be celebrated out of town. I called about a week later to remove one item, add another and asked for my order to be reconfirmed. The day before Thanksgiving on my scheduled pick up day they messed up the order and only had 1 of the items. The store staff confirmed on their computer the items I requested but had not made them and had hand written out a different order which apparently they followed rather than the computer order. There were no offers to make it right, rather I could come back on the weekend when there would be more. On the eve of thanksgiving with family members that are gluten intolerant I thought this was careless. There are a lot of bakery items that are delicious. I used to buy their pizza which they discontinued for the flat bread that is dry and not very tasty. I went thru the drive thru and ordered the imposter cupcakes and when I got home I had salted caramel which I do not like. My last visit was August 1st, 2024 the imposter cupcakes were dry and so was the chocolate scones. AMAZING!! Being gluten free means it's pretty risky to eat out, but it can be so tiring having to cook every meal, every day. I was so excited and thankful to discover Cole's. There are so many delicious unique and staple items on the menu, the Philly grilled cheese is my favorite! When I was putting in offers on a new house I mapped out how long it would take me to get to Cole's from the new house to make sure it was less than 30 minutes so that it didn't become unreasonable to eat there once a week or so. My brother and his wife suggested getting together on their "date night" with myself and our Mom. I was in town visiting and glad to have a chance to see them. Looking it over I decided to be conventional (clam chowder) and try the unusual (coconut chicken strips). Soup was bland and watery. Lots of hunks of potato. A few clams. I could have done better with a can of Chunky soup. That cost them one star. Chicken and fries were excellent. Helped save the meal after the chowder let down. I've been gluten free for a few years to manage an autoimmunity issue. It's always been hard to find a place to eat out with family or have to ask for modifications. But this place!! Is awesome!!! Opening the large menu and knowing I can order anything is so exciting. They have gluten free croutons! And basically all my other favorite things I thought I had to give up years ago. I am unable to speak to the quality of food and/or the environment at the store front, but I will warn you not to bother with any online orders or deliveries. They had a very busy take-out service, but eventually we were suggested to have a seat in the dining area so we could take our time with the menu. I ended up ordering the french onion soup, dairy free, and daughter had the pork nachos. Both were wonderful! So much good things interwoven all through the chips! If you have multiple food allergies, you have just stumbled upon your saving grace of eating out. I have been to Cole's multiple times and always try to stop when I am up north. (I so wish they had a downtown or valley location!) I stopped in for Restaurant Week and I had a very nice experience. Reservations were recommended so we did that. There was a party of 4, me and my bride tribe. 1 of my bridesmaids is celiac so she was very excited to stop at Coles too! I ordered a coffee and it was just the right amount of sweet to coffee. First course was the sandwich which was a hit and I cannot remember how to spell it but it was similar to bbq pork sandwich on a GF bun. Yum! No one else in town can compare to the texture and taste of a Cole's GF bun. Next course was the curry lasagna. While it sounded weird, it was delicious!! Did not taste GF and thought it was a nice touch it was dairy free as well. The last course was the salted caramel mouse. This was very thick and rich. Not a fan but was happy to try something new. On the way out I snagged a cinnamon roll for later. Staff was friendly, the place was clean and slow when we first arrived and picked up as we left. Perfect timing we thought. Will recommend to anyone and everyone I know with food allergies and dietary restrictions. Truly a highlight to having this in Spokane. I will admit sometimes I have been to Cole's and it did seem understaffed and take awhile to get your food but I still appreciate what they do and 5 stars because a place like Cole's is hard to come by for us with allergies!!! read more
